Diane Kruger was already one of my favorite European imports, but this just seals the deal. Diane thinks Brad, Angelina and the kids are “such a sweet family” and that Jolie is “lovely — very positive energy… She’s beautiful!” You may know Diane from films like Troy (where she was unfortunately miscast as Helen of Troy) and those National Treasure movies. She also dates Joshua Jackson, and they seem really cute and happy together.
Kruger’s quite a huge star in her native Germany, and the Berlin-based film set of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds was a homecoming for her. A lot of people predicted that there would be much tabloid consternation with Diane and Brad Pitt filming together in such close quarters, but there weren’t that many reports. Because Brad and Diane got along as respectful co-workers, perchance?
Diane Kruger got to meet costar Brad Pitt’s kids on the German set of their intentionally misspelled Quentin Tarantino WWII flick Inglourious Basterds.
“They came by a couple of times,” Kruger told Usmagazine.com at the Sixth Annual New Yorkers for Children Spring Dinner Dance Wednesday.
“It’s lovely to see them,” she continued. “They are such a sweet family!”
Kruger says Pitt didn’t seem tired for having six children. “He seemed pretty fired up!” she told Us while laughing.
Jolie didn’t lack for energy either. “She was lovely — very positive energy,” continued Kruger. “She’s beautiful!”
Kruger also worked with Pitt on Troy — but they spent more quality time together on the dark Nazi flick, out this August.
“On this one, I have all my scenes with him, which is fun!” she said.
“Brad, I think, will surprise a few people and my character…I’ve ever played anyone quite this fierce and impossibly glamorous, yet tough as nails,” she added.

In the May issue of Vanity Fair, Tarantino gave an exclusive look into Inglourious Basterds, including letting VF publish one scene. The pictures from the set are gorgeous – Diane especially looks amazing. She has the kind of beauty that translates into many different eras. Brad can be seen in all of mustachioed glory, which even I admit, isn’t really his best look. But Brad does wear the hell out of a uniform. Yummy!

being a big orlando bloomie at the time, as i recall, they were having a really tough time finding a woman to take the role of helen. even opposite brad, eric bana, and orlando! apparently some didn’t like the script, and some didn’t want to seem full of themselves if the film didn’t do well.
i wouldn’t say that she was “miscast”(i personally didn’t enjoy her performance, but i admit that was partly because she was taking up screen time that could have been filled with more sexy oiled up men), i just don’t know if they could have found anyone better.
that movie was never supposed to be about the women, anyway. just look at the casting!
Brad Pitt is miscast yet again. Why do they keep giving that mediocre(at best) actor movies that are too big for him? His acting is always the worst part of any Brad Pitt movie that I’ve watched.

London Paris, Brad Pitt and Orlando Blooms Cheesy acting really destroyed that Movie. It wasn’t Diane that was miscast.

I do think Kruger was miscast in Troy – as was Orly Bloom & Pitt. The only good casting was Eric Bana. He’s the only reason to watch that movie.

Isn’t that the standard reponse to such questions? How often do we really hear anything but praise regarding fellow actors? Not surprisingly for the sake of their careers they all fawn over eachother.
all I’ve ever read or heard, from people who have actually MET & spoke to Angelina, including Brad, is that AJ is very sweet and lovely (even Brad noted that she is not at all like the aggressive person she is often portrayed as (by media-such-likes who make up trash to sell copy).
There’s just one comment in this post that is very disturbing and SO not true: Diane Kruger is not a ‘huge’ star in Germany. Never has been, never will be. In fact I think most people here wouldn’t know who she is if you mention her name or even show a picture of her.
But I guess that’s typical American: To assume that just because she’s a foreigner that is known in the US she MUST be a huge star in her home country.

I agree with the poster who said Diane is NOT big in Germany. I don’t think really think she ever was. But she is quite a big star in France as a lot of her movies have been in French.
