After her Today Show appearance earlier this week, Katie Holmes attended the New York premiere for her film Touched With Fire on Wednesday. Katie was escorted by her mother Kathleen and her two sisters, Holly and Nancy, along with Zac Posen who designed her gown. I am so in love with this gown its moved me to write bad poetry. Silk in that color is sumptuous. The cut is flattering everywhere. The small ruching at the right waist makes a beautiful, fluid line and the open gash across the back is sexy as hell. There is even a little kick train to fuel my need for drama! The puckering on the back seam is unfortunate but when you have that much going right, why split hairs?
Katie had a hand in her stunning premiere look. According to the star and the designer, they often collaborate on her styling via text:
Holmes hit the red carpet in a body-skimming navy halter with a triangular cut out in the back, a fresh face and a metallic cuff. And each detail of Holmes’s look had apparently been decided between Posen, the actress and her A-list style team.
“It was a pleasure to dress her, a joy, because she is a friend,” Posen told People exclusively on the red carpet. “She loves clothing. She even had her own fashion line. We text ideas to each other. We thought, ‘Do we do a gown, a suit? Brooks [Brothers, where Posen is a creative consultant] tonight.’ But we decided she needed to bring the glamour.”
Holmes corroborated Posen’s design-by-text story. “We always do,” said the female lead of the film. “We text a lot anyway. And he was so kind to do this tonight. He’s got his Brooks Brothers show on Sunday and his own show on Monday. So it was really nice of him to let me wear this.”
I keep forgetting about the Holmes & Yang fashion line. In another promotional stop (and another fabulous dress), Katie stopped by The Tonight Show and showed off her Beyoncé impression. Apparently, Katie is not a big football fan and took Suri out and about last Sunday. However, when it came time for the halftime show, Katie couldn’t pass up the chance to watch Bey and her Formation so she hightailed to her nearest friend’s house to watch the performance, which, naturally, led to an impromptu dance-along:
Katie is still wearing that diamond ring on her left finger that she denies is an engagement ring. But we are still supposed to ask about it, right?
I watched (trigger warning, the lead characters are bipolar) the trailer for Touched With Fire. I want to support the film but it’s rough, you guys. To anyone who has been affected in any way by the themes in the film, have a care. God bless them for getting this out there, I will go see it but I’m not sure how I’ll get through it yet.
Christine Lahti wore a variation on the bandage dress. I love the ankle boots

Katie looks lovely.
I wasn’t sure until I saw the back view – agreed, this is absolutely beautiful, elegant. I don’t expect a whole lot from Katie Holmes on the red carpet. This is a win!
Yes. I don’t expect a lot from Zac Posen, to be honest, but this is really great.
Love the fron of Katie’s dress. The back is messed up.
Love that shade. The description says navy? But it looks like dark gray silk to me with a metallic undertones. Agree that the back view is a let down after the loveliness of the front.
Katie looks beautiful…and she was very charming on Fallon. Christine look dated and the black tights have to GO
Christine’s look made me flinch, she looks so dated and older than her years as a result.
My sentiments exactly. She looks terrible. Nothing about that dress (cut or color) does anything for her.
That dress is cut beautifully, she looks sensational. Wow.
This is her best red carpet look in a long time – very elegant and she looks great.
I like the dress, works very well on her.
I wasn’t getting the positive vibe until she turned around. The color with the back cut is a win.
She looks beautiful!!! Dress, makeup and hair are perfect!!!
she looks lovely, but the gown isn’t anything special…
She looks beautiful. But the whole Beyonce act looks very awkward and try hard. I don’t know, whenever i see her in interviewsi just want to hear her spill it on her marriage to Cruise, untill she does she just seems so awkward. Like theres a huge elephant in the room.
Every interview I have ever watched of her always seem try-hard and rehearsed.
What a lovely dress! I keep forgetting how nice she seems to be, and then I see her acting silly in guest appearances in some shows and I’m like oh right she’s awesome!
Like she doesn’t take herself too seriously.
That was a funny bit, with the Beyoncé impression!
I love everything about this look! Her styling is perfection and her booty looks great as well. I see you Katie 👀
Gorgeous dress.
Christine Lahti must have dipped into her closet–she emerged as this mutton dressed as lamb in beat-up ankle boots. Glad she has a new project, but sad to see nobody ponied up with a suitable look for a 65-year-old.
That gown is beyond stunning and looks great on her, and I so love the midnight blue of it all. I still find Katie bland, though.
Christine, just no. Couldn’t someone stop her from leaving the house in that?
Right? I never liked Bandage dresses and glad it faded as a trend. That style of dress has never look good on anyone imo. And the ankle boots just compound the fug.
Love both dresses, both of them look elegant and not overdone.
Katie has done something to her face, something around her jaw.
The gown is lovely, but I wish she would stop hunching! Develop some poise, girl.
I was noticing that too. That’s the posture I get when I’m feeling like my boobs are too big. It’s like she’s trying to collapse her chest.
Has Katie always been that thin?
What happened to her fashion line?
Magnificent- dress, styling ( well, maybe not a center part, but that’s my bias), everything.
Did anyone else notice in the Katie post a couple days ago ( re: interview) that she was wearing (AND TRYING TO HIDE) a thin band on her left ring finger??
Methinks there may have been a ceremony on the DL. 😀
ETA: It is there in the interview with Fallon, too. Girl got married!
I loved her look!
Can we retire thr bandage deess and any variation that goes with it?
This is lovely.
She looks adorable! She seems so relaxed now. I LOVE IT!
Aside from that midsection bit, her dress is gorgeous – I love the detailing across the bodice and back – but the midsection is too tight … maybe if it had a sash or something it could look better? Her make-up is gorgeous but her hair is pulled back too tightly and a mid-part does not suit her. I loved Katie’s look when Tom had her made over with a cute ’60s-style bob … that was an incredible look for her.
I want her bracelet. She looks very well in this dress bur her pose as as bad a Kristen Steward’s.
I dunno, to me this woman has a “strange” looking face. Certainly not a classic beauty. And her posture has always been and continues to be bad. (Too much time spent with Tiny Tom?)
The dress is okay, but that big pucker in the back is not good at all for a designer garment. Oh, and the center part, severely pulled back look does nothing for her.
Other than that, she looks good.
Christine, Christine, Christine! No, no, no!
I like Katie’s dress & I would have softened the hair a bit & styled splashier earrings. Poor Christine looks as if she removed her ballet shoes & traded for boots, coming straight from a lesson. Short, full skirted dress + tights + ankle boots = bad.
really liked the blue dress, but loved the black one. Katie has a stunning face and it’s great to see her laughing and talking a lot in interviews. Seen her in a few for touched with fire and they are great. Katie at the Apple store interview and Qand A that was great too, altho Luke Kirby seriously looked that he was on something.
Grew up with DC and will always be a KH fan.
Pics of her mum and sisters are lovely, forever has talked about her love for her family.
WTF happened to Lahti?
