You may know Ross Marquand as the boyishly handsome Aaron on The Walking Dead. Marquand, 34, did videos with Vanity Fair last month (which I am only just seeing now, they’re below and well worth watching) where he does uncanny celebrity impressions. His brief imitations, including Matthew McConaughey, Justin Timberlake, George Clooney, Kevin Spacey and Harrison Ford, were spot on and frustratingly brief. The video was “nanoimpressions” in which he does different celebrities in situational bits. My favorite was John Malkovich taking a sip of the wrong drink, that’s at about 1:00 into this video. It made me laugh so hard, as did Ewan McGregor bragging about smoking.

Anyway Marquand was on The Jimmy Kimmel show (that video is above) where he was asked to do a bunch of impressions of celebrity Oscar acceptance speeches. The result was just as entertaining as his Vanity Fair videos. His voices, mannerisms and expressions are incredible. He did Matthew McConaughey, John C. Reilly, Antonio Banderas, Christopher Walken, Kevin Spacey, Justin Timberlake (which was exceptional), Gary Busey, Sylvester Stallone, Michael Caine and Christian Bale. Spoiler: he did Christian Bale getting mad and it was the best!

This guy is a very solid character actor on The Walking Dead and now he’s definitely on my radar. Marquad had a scripted TV series on the Pop! Network in 2015 called Impress Me, which was written by Rainn Wilson. He played an impressionist, a profession with which he seems to have had prior experience. He’s also done voiceover work for cartoons, for Conan, and various guest appearances on TV shows. I’d definitely like to see more of him. I don’t know what happens to his character on Walking Dead, I didn’t read that far in the comics and their predictive value is questionable, but if Aaron gets killed off I hope that Marquand gets a starring role on another TV show. He’s a great actor and so easy on the eyes.
