I really hoped to ignore the Duggar family for a very long time, but I guess it’s impossible at this point. Jessa and Jill managed to save their family’s TV show, media outlets like People Magazine still love to cover the Duggars, and now the prodigal son has returned home from his (faith-based rehab) travels. That’s right, after an epically scandalous 2015, Josh Duggar checked into a faith-based sex rehab center in Illinois last August, and Josh has only returned home this week. People’s exclusive was pretty funny – the only new quote they got from an unnamed source was “If nothing else, this is a happy time for their kids.” *sad clown noise*
Granted, Josh’s wife Anna has been to visit him several times over the past six months, and I think she brought the kids a few times too. I kind of wonder how Anna even functioned without Josh around to make all of the decisions for her. But I bet somewhere, deep inside, she was grateful for the six-month break from Josh’s general and specific awfulness. The Duggar family released a statement too:
Josh has completed his residential rehabilitation program. We are so thankful for everyone who worked with Josh in this program. It was a crucial first step in recovery and healing for Josh. Josh has now returned to Arkansas, where he will continue professional counseling and focus on rebuilding relationships with his family. We look to God for help and guidance and place all of our trust in Him. We are forever grateful for the love and prayers offered by so many and hope you will continue to pray in the days ahead.
Just remember, the straw that broke the camel’s back was always that Josh cheated on his wife, not that he molested his sisters. What will be interesting – and by “interesting” I mean horrifying – is whether Josh is allowed back on television. Will he go before a TLC audience and openly discuss his fall from grace? Probably.
Oh, I didn’t cover this when it happened because I honestly thought some money exchanged hands behind the scenes, but Danica Dillon dropped her assault lawsuit against Josh last month. She’s now saying that she made it up. Do you believe that?
Also: I hope Josh adds his vital voice to the ongoing GOP primary shenanigans. I suspect Josh is more of a Ted Cruz fan.

I believe Danica. This happens too much, women are expected to back down or deny the behaviour of the perpetrator. I can understand her taking a settlement rather than drag herself through a court case.
I am sure she was paid off in exchange for publically saying she made it up. Pathetic. Not her, but Josh and his family. I don’t blame her for not wanting herself publically torn apart in a court setting. It would be like rape all over again.
I agree. His attorney asked her to recant her story but I never saw where she agreed to that or actually did. I know she dropped her case (settled) but i never saw where she publicly said she made up the story. I know People magazine (linked in the story) tried to insinuated that Danica lied but I never saw where she admitted it.
I did a little research and the settlement had language in there that Danica would not refile and that therefore would “prove” that her claims were fabricated but right after the settlement she tweeted that she did not lie and it did happen. I believe her & think she had a crappy attorney who should have changed the language of the settlement or not settled at all. I know I settled a case once and I did not read all the fine print in the 100+ page settlement agreement written in legal language but relied on my attorney to do that.
Me, too. Her story had too many rings of truth. People drop cases for many reasons, payoff being one of them, but it is so unlikely that she said she “made it all up”. That would open her to legal problems herself for filing false charges and also to being sued by Josh. Sounds like just a smear campaign combined with payoff or threats or both.

Read that too, but there haven’t been any pictures of her pregnant. If she were truly pregnant they would be milking it for all the publicity it could give saying how she had totally forgiven her husband and this pregnancy proves that. They have such a twisted sort of logic to things.

Wasn’t putting them into the same category, just expressing my exasperation with the media’s coverage of them. I am more disappointed in TLC for allowing this family back on the air. Clearly this family has many problems, manifested by their sons’ molestation of his sisters and his adultery/porn addiction. They should not have an outlet anymore — that was my point.
I’m so repulsed by the Duggars return to TV/disgusting TLC. I saw a commercial for their new series the other day and I swear it had ALL the kids in it or at least more than just the sisters. They are slowly but surely worming their way back in–I’m sure its just a matter of a season or so until Bim Job and Scarechelle are back on every episode in all their glory.

Where does it say that Danica says that her story was made up? I hadn’t heard that part. I know they settled & that Josh’s lawyer ASKED her to give a statement that her accusations were false but I didn’t think she agreed (or followed through) with that. Am I missing something? The link doesn’t say that the accusations were false, just that she settled. I think this is an important detail…..
I did a little google search and JOSH’S camp (in the print of the settlement) said that Danica would not re-file which would “prove her claims are fabricated” and then SHE tweeted “Just because something was dropped doesn’t mean it was a lie” So she either 1) took the settlement and didn’t read the fine print and/or 2) the print says “fabricated” not that it didn’t happen or 3) didn’t care what the fine print said. Regardless- Danica is still insisting that this DID happen and she took a settlement. I think this is a very important detail for victims & perps. She has never stated that he didn’t do it & in fact stated that she didn’t lie. Just because someone settles does not mean it didn’t happen!
Ugh! I am so tired of hearing about these people. I saw an article about Andrea Yates (the woman who drowned her children in the bathtub) and it reminded me that her husband, Rusty Yates, was part of this Quiverfull Movement like the Duggars. He encouraged Andrea to go off meds so she could have more babies, even though she begged him not to, because she was afraid of harming them. There is no way Anna will “escape” from Josh and she will continue to have more babies with him, because she is part of this cult, too.
When I first heard Andreas story I was amazed at this husband who was so forgiving of his wife who killed their children. Then I read on…that poor woman. Its bad enough that she kept experiencing psychotic breaks but yo be married to a man who intentionally exposed her to that?! The self rightousness required for HIM to “forgive” HER is staggering.
Yes, Yates was another victim who SCREAMED for help and warned EVERYONE who would listen to her BEFORE the terrible incident.
She was suffering, and the guy turned a deaf ear. Those innocent beautiful babies paid with their lives- and while Yates is where she belongs—it’s just sad and tragic because if she had received proper Mental Health and Medical treatment–the whole situation could have been avoided.

TLC are so irresponsible for candy coating these uneducated, misogynist, cult members and packaging them as “wholesome”, it’s nauseating. As for Anna, any pity I had for her is gone. She had the opportunity to remove her children from this toxic environment and instead will stand by the side of her molester husband and no doubt, bring another dozen children into the mix. Without his porn, hookers and affairs to fulfill his needs, his children are even more vulnerable to his inappropriate attention. She’s an idiot. I don’t care if she’s been raised in the cult, several of her siblings left and have offered help. She’s actively choosing this life for her children, who I do pity. Especially the girls.
The cult not only didn’t prevent this awful behavior it is in fact partly responsible for creating it. I have a very hard time believing that things would have gone this far if Josh was allowed to explore his sexuality with peers and not taught that women existed for his benefit. The unbelievable sexual repression (and obsession) these people engage in is just begging for trouble.

They aren’t allowed locks on bathroom doors and are still forced to sleep in dorm style rooms with their younger siblings. The girls do have a lock on their bedroom door, but only because Josh molested them in their beds. The boys have to sleep in their clothes and don’t have sheets or blankets on their beds either. It’s insane on so many levels. How they have “fans” who think they are such a great example is beyond me. My friend is a Speech Pathologist and she’s commented on Jordyn’s severe speech impediment. Those kid’s most basic needs are neglected in every way. Allowing normal sexual curiosity is unthinkable.

Unfortunately, the rehab theater he went to likely did not explore these issues. As a medical professional, I am bound by law to report criminal activity such as molestation. I am also bound to notify all involved if I feel someone is a threat to those around them. I doubt the facility he went to has established he is safe for children to be around and I doubt they have advised the family on the risks involved and what type of measures to take/red flags to look for.
I’m not even sure what he was being treated for, because adultery is not something that requires hospitalization for six months (or frankly any amount of time). In fact, short of psychosis and/or safety issues, there are few mental illnesses that requires hospitalization for this length of time. Even addiction treatment facilities don’t require in-patient treatment for this amount of time. Adultery is not an illness, it is a decision made by a person for all sorts of reasons. It’s so surreal that he was hospitalized for this.

You recognize that as a human being, he is capable of free will and therefore is responsible tor his actions, good and bad. So, yes, it was his decision to go for some strange, but their worldview doesn’t leave room for human-generated error. They chuck up to to some devine puppet master pulling the strings.
IMO, this was a planned PR move on behalf of the greedy Duggars. They KNOW they messed up and were very upset the gravy train was ended with the cancellation of the show.
So, my thinking says they planned a longer than usual in-patient stay to show the TV world their commitment to “do the right thing” and get the Potato-Faced Pedo the long-overdue help he needed.

Yeah they sure are back, but this time they’re only featuring two of his sisters who he molested. I had to switch the channel every time I see their teary-eyed commercial of their show. It’s not that I have no sympathy for what happened to the girls, it’s just that it’s so painful to see that even the girls are brainwashed to think that their only duties on earth as christian women is to bow down to your husband’s sexual requests and produce spawns in the name of Jesus and that if your husband cheats, it’s not his fkin fault, it’s the devil’s fault! and it’s your duty as a wife to forgive him!
I have a lot of problems with this situation. I don’t know if he would have been a young sex offender had it not been for his environment, but going forward those experiences are now part of his sexual identity. Having not dealt with those issues is not something that will just go away. I remain incredibly concerned for the young girls in the household. Unfortunately, had he gotten help at 15, there could have been a lot done to retrain his sexual impulses. Now, as an adult and still living in the same environment, such impulses will be difficult to correct and only grow more problematic with time.
If I had a child under my care whose parent or brother had this history, I would be incredibly pro-active about removing either the parent/brother from the home or the child. He continues to be a threat.
