Susan Boyle hounded by paparazzi, has most-viewed video clip of all time

Susan Boyle Seen At Home After Her Recent Success On Britain's Got Talent

47 year-old previously undiscovered songstress Susan Boyle has captivated the world with her compelling story and moving voice. Plain-looking Susan wowed the world with an amazing performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” on competition show “Britain’s Got Talent” a week and a half ago, and has graciously granted interviews around the world from her modest home in Scotland. A single video on YouTube featuring Susan’s audition has been viewed over 38 million times, with Internet experts estimating that clips of Susan have collectively been seen over 100 million times, making her performance the most watched video on the Internet in history.

There are all sorts of theories as to why and how Susan moves us – she’s single, picked a song that conveys deep longing and lost years, and has unparalleled talent that laid hidden for decades as she struggled to care for an aging mother. Whatever the reasons, Susan is a new star and we can’t get enough of her.

Unfortunately all this attention seems like it’s bothering the woman from a small town who mostly kept to herself before plucking up her courage to perform in front of millions. She’s being hounded by the paparazzi and journalists camped outside her house:

How famous is Britain’s YouTube sensation Susan Boyle? Her home is staked out with photographers and journalists hoping for an interview, nine days after she belted out a song on “Britain’s Got Talent” and shot to superstardom.

On Tuesday Getty took a new batch of photos of her in Blackburn, West Lothian in Scotland, including shots of one journo trying to get a quote.

“Britain’s Got Talent” is currently in the audition phase of the show, and Boyle won’t return to perform for at least a few weeks. Wikipedia says that the final competition is on May 30, but we hope to hear Susan again before that. Maybe if the world can see her sing again soon, she’ll get a little peace. It’s hard to imagine that we can get enough of her, though. I know I’ve watched her YouTube clip at least 10 times. Whatever happens, Susan’s life and fortunes have been changed forever with that beautiful song. Hopefully it’s for the better for her and she’ll be able to come to terms with her newfound fame. From the interviews I’ve seen, she seems to be coping quite nicely and a little annoyance with photographers just goes with the territory.

A whole new world! no more privacy. But at least she’s a millionaire in the making now…good for her.

  2. heh-heh says:

I hope they don’t ruin it for her. They’ve been known to shout obscene things at people for no other reason than to get a rise out of them — and the celeb, not the paparazzo, looks bad.

  3. Brenda says:

Most viewed video clip of all time? THAT’S an amazing achievement in these times — and she absolutely deserves it. She’s such an inspiration — going after her dream and showing the world what beauty can be.

  4. Lily. says:

    Uh. What?

Her compelling story? What story? That she’s not up to Hollywood standards aesthetically to have carved out a career already? With her pretty OK, yet not on the same league as BGT alumni Paul Potts’, voice?

I guess because Demi Moore twittered about it, it matters.

    Lily: You @$$.

Lils, don’t be a jerk. That wasn’t funny. The woman has got a learning disability, for starters, she’s rapidly becoming the most famous person in the western world, and now her idol, Elaine Page, wants to record with her. That is very much inspiring. So if you cannot understand all that, then please just can it.

Interesting. This illustrates what I don’t like about all the hyped-up mass-media attention she’s been getting. A week/month from now, people will start to tire of her (it WILL happen), and start moaning that she’s everywhere.

Susan’s the only one here who’s taking it all in her stride and trying to carry on as normal. Wish the media would take a leaf out of her book and rein it in because they’ll end up destroying all the genuine goodwill that’s out there for her. And she’ll be the one who’ll pay the price.

  8. heima says:

am i the only person in the world that is convinced that she was miming the lyrics and not singing with her own voice live?
maybe it was her voice, but not live singing…

  9. Because I Say So says:

Yes Heima, I think you are the only person in the world.

Some people just cannot be happy for another person, it seems….

  10. BluePlanet says:

What I want to know is, how is Pebbles adjusting to all of this?

  11. heima says:

it seems that i cannot reply sarcastically to “because i say so” who’s accusing me of saying something that i didn’t mean.
so, this is my third attempt of posting a reply.
in my previous comment i wrote: “maybe it was her voice, but not live singing… ” that doesn’t mean that i don’t think that that was her own voice. that means that i don’t think that she was singing LIVE.
how do you jump to the conclusion that i’m one of those “people that just cannot be happy for another person” is beyond my comprehension…

[to celebitchy: have i been politically correct enough now?]

You’re right Geronimo, and I hate it when that happens. There’s ALWAYS the “oh now they’re everywhere, how annoying” backlash. Usually on the Internet people are in a race to see who can sound edgy and cool by being the first to say it. I was pissed when it happened with Tina Fey. After a certain point, the awe wears off and people get annoyed that someone is more popular and talented than they are and have to find a way to tear them down.

Does no one remember Paul Potts from Brittan’s Got Talent? You tube link is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DelJrP3P7tA

  14. Mary says:

I still think its a terrific story. Hopefully she can ride this wave with that terrific voice.

  15. GimmeABreak says:

    @BLUEPLANET: LOL!!!

And here comes the mayhem. Too bad you can’t have the fortune without the fame. Oh well…best of luck to her.

Wow. I saw the Paul Potts video for the first time!! I cried. Incredible.
