Hugh Jackman was on “The Tonight Show” last night and talked about doing the whole cement handprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre earlier in the day. Jay Leno officiated, and noted that thousands of people came out for what’s essentially a five or ten minute affair. It shows that Jackman’s not just a big celebrity, but also an immensely likable guy.
Speaking of which, he told a hysterical story about his 8-year-old son Oscar using him as bait to talk to some girls.
Jackman: “My son is eight, and he’s already scoping the crowd for chicks. It’s unbelievable. The other day he said to me, ‘Dad, two o’clock. Hot chick.’ I’m like, ‘What?’”
Leno: “Two o’clock?”
Jackman: “Yeah, he goes, ‘They’re hot aren’t they?’ I go, ‘They’re about fourteen.’ They’re fourteen by the way. He’s eight. And so part of me is going, ‘Yeah, go on son,’ and part of me is like, ‘Oscar they’re fourteen, I can’t comment on whether they’re hot or not.’ And he walked on over to them – I swear – he walks over – and he doesn’t normally talk to me about Wolverine at all, it’s a funny thing, he’s normally quiet about it – he walked over, and I could hear him, he goes ‘Hi, how are you? I just want you to know my dad is Wolverine.’”

Sounds like Oscar is quite the future ladies’ man. Talk about being quite the smooth talker – and he’s only eight? The world is going to be that kid’s oyster. Well, lady oyster. You get the point.
Oscar sounds adorable – and it’s clear even in Hugh telling this short story how much affection he has for his son. Jackman is such a charismatic guy – though he’s by no means a Hollywood newcomer, you can tell he’s going to have a long career.
Here’s Hugh Jackman with his family at the hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theater yesterday. Images thanks to Fame Pictures .
I thought Oscar was adopted?
Yes he is – both of Hugh’s kids (Oscar and Ava) are adopted.
Oscar is a very cute kid but not thanks to Jackman’s genes. I believe both his kids are adopted.
Sorry guys, it’s fixed! I also added some cute photos of the hand print ceremony.
I love this man. I don’t believe a word of the gay rumors, mostly because I don’t get that vibe at all and I think its just wishful thinking on the part of jealous men. Love the story about his kids.
Lovely family, his wife is so lucky.
Saw him recently on Jonathan Ross and I was actually quite surprised at how camp he is – in a theatrical way. Did he start out in theatre?
Yes he started in theatre.. you didn’t see him host the oscars? he also hosted the tonys 3 time, won a tony for “the boy from oz” and a bunch of other awards. Also did oklahoma! on the west end etc.. there’s more information on wiki if you want
He was AMAZING in Oklahoma!
I love this man, his wife is fab and those children are divine.
Thanks for that, Snoopy. I know he hosted the Os etc but outside of that, he’s just not someone I pay that much attention to or know much about.
i saw this show last night… my first impression was that that kid is gonna be a total brat/douche when he grows up… bragging about his father’s job, trying to pick up on 14 year olds… he’s already learning how to use his father’s fame for personal gain… i dunno, maybe it’s “cute” but i’d have a talk with him…
btw, his wife is sooooooooooooo lucky… this guy is a total hottie and seems nice to boot… is she much older than he is?
At least there’s one dude in the family who likes girls. Kidding! I love him. And his dye job.
That’s so Adorable
Oh Cod! I adore Hugh Jackman, especially the whole rugged Wolverine business. He can show me that exoskeleton anytime he likes 🙂
As for the 8 year old being a ladies man. I totally believe it. My 3 year old cousin already is.
ChristinaT, my first reaction was also very much like yours, the whole yo 2 o’clock hot chick on an 8 year old ? annoying now…smarmy later.
I have seen several interviews with Jackman and he just comes across as the nicest guy.
I had never read any sort of bio on him before today, so I didn’t realize his kids were adopted or that his wife was 13 years older than he is.
That is so cool.
I have an instant soft spot for actors who are (seemingly, fingers-crossed!) happily married to women who aren’t model perfect and half their age!
So far all the ones I have admired in the past have disappointed me (Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford).
Jackman and David Beckham are my two present favorites. (No matter what you might think of Victoria Beckham, she is age appropriate, and they’ve managed to stay together for over 10 years and three kids and still seem very committed to each other).
I hope I never have to find out I was wrong about Hugh…the world needs a FEW good guys!
Annie, I totally agree, I really do love him rugged. I just wish he’d avoid the plucked n’ dyed look he sports sometimes, lol.
