I know a lot of you are getting burnt out on Susan Boyle stories, but we couldn’t pass this one up. The 47 year-old “Britains Got Talent” contestant was seen outside her home in Blackburn, Scotland today with thinner, groomed eyebrows. She also had her hair in an upswept style. There’s been a lot of speculation over whether much-watched YouTube sensation Boyle would get a makeover. She’s been wearing slightly more fashionable clothes lately and now that she has thinner eyebrows I think we can assume that she’s open to some makeup and maybe a new hairstyle.
Boyle told The Times that she was happy with her appearance but that she wouldn’t mind a little help:
“Maybe I’ll consider a makeover later on,” she laughs. “For now I’m happy the way I am — short and plump. I would not go in for Botox or anything like that. I’m content with the way I look. What’s wrong with looking like Susan Boyle? What’s the matter with that?”
[From The Times]
Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden expressed similar doubts about a makeover for Boyle, saying “The minute we turn her into a glamour-puss is when it’s spoilt.”
I think she looks great with thinner eyebrows as they really open up her face. We’re more interested in hearing her sing again than watching her beauty transformation. It seems like she has a lot to live up to the next time she sings given all the hype. Boyle’s talent is probably not a one-off though, a 1999 recording she made of the song “Cry Me a River” for a charity CD is just as good if not more so than her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream.”
According to photo agency Pacific Coast News, Boyle was seen out holding a piece of paper with Oprah’s PR number on it. I guess we can look forward to seeing her on the show. I’d rather hear all about this older lady with the beautiful voice than Octomom any day.
Boyle before her eyebrows were done:
She seems like a nice lady. If she’s happy with the way she looks, people should leave her alone.
She looks great! Love her!
Nothing wrong with a little personal grooming! 🙂 She didn’t do anything too major but it looks nice. I don’t know if I’d get a makeover if I were suddenly famous, but I might start grooming myself at least a little better if I was in pap photos every day!
Cute white top.
She looks good because her face reflects her sweet personality, but if she wanted to, she´d look even better with a different hairstyle (maybe a different colour too), and some foundation to even up her skin tone. A dab of lipstick and that´s all I would do if I were her.
“What’s wrong with looking like Susan Boyle? What’s the matter with that?”
Nothing at all. 🙂 Not one little thing.
If she wants to have fun learning how to apply makeup that flatters her face and start having some eyebrow waxing, that’s her God-given right as a woman. hee hee. But, you know, we all love her just as she is, too.
LOVE that white top she has on under the black jacket. It is SO her. Love it.
She should dye her hair, get rid of her double chin and get a treatment for her roseacea. She would look much better and most likely feel better too.
Kudos to Susan Boyle for being comfortable in her own skin and happy with her looks. The world could learn from her.
I adore Susan Boyle just as much as the next human, but I think we need to address a double standard. I remember very clearly a post on celebitchy (can’t remember who wrote it) that showed unflattering pap pictures of Katie Homes, whose makeup appeared to be smudged or missing. The thesis was, basically, “I guess it’s ok because she’s a working mom who perhaps doesn’t have time to worry about makeup, but OH GOD I would NEVER let myself be seen like that!!!”
shes so awesome, with or without bushy eyebrows. i think its great that shes just fine being HERSELF! you dont find that a lot these days…
but if she wants to get a makeover now that shes in the public eye, she should go for it. i know i would…but then again im a shallow human being haha.
i want to hang out with her!
@ maritza, yeah. god forbid shes happy just looking like herself, huh? wow.
They also waxed her upper lip.
I agree I wouldn’t want to see her change a lot and get all glammed up. But there’s nothing wrong with a bit of tidying things up, as my grandmother called it, LOL. Especially if it makes you feel a bit more confident.
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good.
I read a comment on a news website that hit the nail on the head as far as I’m concerned. Basically the poster said the only reason westerners, or Brits and Americans to be precise, were so surprised to learn this woman could sing is because we’ve been conditioned to think that only good looking people have true talent. So true, so true, and such a shame, such a shame.
I must be the only one who has yet to hear this chick sing!!! But I’ve seen enough of her to know that I hope she doesn’t get “changed”. I think she looks beautiful in the photo above.
#14 so ture, beauty and talent are independent of each other.
It looks like she treated herself to a day at the salon (or whatever they have in her little village) and got a trim and a waxing. The photos look like they took a large curling iron to her hair to relax the curls a tad and maybe she got a facial. All of those things are very natural looking, and she can do them herself and feel prettier. There is nothing fakey about what she is wearing or her look. And the clothes are cute.
If I was in her position, I’d want to present well in public without being obvious about it too. I’m looking forward to her next performance, because unlike many, she’s really interesting.
And the Craig Ferguson/Simon Cowell interview was very funny. Craig Ferguson is a hoot all by himself–together they were great.
Nothing wrong with groomed eyebrows either! lol She looks good, a nice improvement. 🙂
well wouln’t I be proud to be a friend of susan’s…and to have her in the choir?/.It would be a dream for sure…..the voice surpurb, the lady is a true unique personality, and has a God given gift…way to go Susan…keep knocking them dead!!
