Brad Pitt & Marion Cotillard had a baby…. for ‘Five Seconds of Silence’

FFN_Pitt_FilmSet_FFUK_033116_52008998

I linked to some of these photos yesterday, before we got access to the full set. Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard are currently in England filming a World War II-era film together. They’re playing a married couple in 1942. Brad plays an American (?) spy “who falls in love and marries a French agent during a dangerous North African mission.” I’m assuming the dangerous North African mission is the backstory, because in these photos, we see Brad and Marion as a married couple with an absolutely adorable child.

This film is called Five Seconds of Silence, which… is not a good movie title. Maybe it’s some sort of WWII reference, like something about air raids or espionage. This film actually has a pretty decent pedigree, meaning it’s not one of Brad’s off-the-wall art projects. Robert Zemeckis is the director, and Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight did the script. The film is being set for a November release, so maybe there’s a shot at an Oscar campaign or something. Here’s the plot of the film, via Coming Soon:

Five Seconds of Silence follows Max Vatan (Pitt) and Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard), two assassins who fall in love during a mission in Casablanca in 1942 to kill a German ambassador. A future together, however, is thrown into tumult when twisty secrets from their pasts cast doubts on their love for each other.

[From Coming Soon]

Blah. I mean… I get a little bit tired of WWII films, although there hasn’t been enough of an effort to recognize the women of clandestine services. So I’m happy that Marion is playing a spy and an assassin, just like Brad.

As for Brad and this baby… I get the feeling that he loves babies. He might even want to have another one. And he looks really good in that blue uniform. He honestly looks good in all of these photos – in the pics where he’s wearing a hat, he looks like Robert Redford in The Natural.

    He’s hot in that uniform.
Also the plot reads like Mr and Mrs. Smith with a WWII-setting. If I were employed by one of those gossip magazines that always just make up their stories, I’d know my headline for next week: History repeats itself!

    • Maya says:

I agree the media will repeat the same old bs but I don’t think this plot is similar.

I think Brad is on the good side while Marion is on the Nazi side in this movie.

      • roses says:

The Plot is nowhere similar to Mr & Mrs Smith except the fact that they are spies but the similarity ends there. Its definitely a drama and there are some crazy twists in the script so it will be an interesting to see once its released.

  2. Betti says:

He looks like Benico Del Toro is some of those shots.

    • Esmom says:

I’ve always thought they resembled each other but strangely I’m not seeing it as much in these shots.

That baby is such a doll!

    • V4Real says:

I’ve said that for years. They should have done a movie together. Well they were both in Snatch but they didn’t have any scenes together.

    • FingerBinger says:

I’ve always thought they looked alike as well. They could be brothers.

    • doofus says:

I also agree that they look alike.

though I find Pitt to be better looking, and Del Toro to be a better actor.

  3. Bl says:

Mr and Mrs Smith have aged like milk. Yuck.

  4. Helen says:

It was called “Allied” but they changed it. I think they might change it again.

  5. Maya says:

Finally there are some pictures of this movie – they have been shooting for weeks and no pictures.

Brad looks mighty fine for someone who is 52 and hasn’t had any cosmetic procedures.

Marion as always looks beautiful and the baby is so cute with her chubby cheeks.

I am so looking forward to this movie – Brad & Marion are versatile and brilliant actors, Zemerkis is an award winning genius of a director and Knight has written some pretty good scripts.

The script is in lock down so only handful of people know what the movie is actually about.

I personally think that Brad is an agent while Marion is the German spy. And the title five seconds of silence could mean that Brad is silent for five seconds before killing her in the name of peace (or something). Even though they love each – either Brad kills her or she kills herself to either save her family etc.

As people can see – I am excited for this movie.

    • KB says:

I think he’s definitely had cosmetic procedures, but he did it the right way. He did it months before shooting the film. His face looked really tight during awards season, but it has settled and now he looks freaking fantastic.

      • doofus says:

he also used to have acne scars, and no longer does. but I agree, he did it right…no drastic work like a nose job or implant of any kind. and he does look good, like himself, just a little older.

  6. Neelyo says:

I was excited until I saw Robert Zemeckis is the director.

    • KB says:

Why? I don’t know anything about him, but I looked him up and he directed The Walk, Forrest Gump, and Back To The Future.

  7. chioma says:

You think Leo makes oscar-baity movies? Ladies and gentlemen, here’s Brad Pitt.
Brad and his Oscary movies are like 5 and 6

    • Maya says:

WWZ, Fury, Killing them softly, Tree of Life, War Machine aren’t Oscars baity movies.

By the sea and this one are the only ones – other than that, you have to go back to 2008 for Benjamin Button.

Leo only acts in Oscar baity movie so no point in comparing those two.

    • Catelina says:

I don’t get why people say ‘oscar-baity’ movies like its a bad thing. What should Brad and Leo be starring in? a string of Romcoms? Action blockbusters? They can’t exactly make obscure indies with names as big as theirs. Why is it a bad thing to want to consistently work with prestigious and acclaimed directors and screenwriters? The two of them have wonderful filmographies as a result of this. I think its admirable to want to make the best movies possible. And I also think that their films being considered ‘oscar-bait’ in the first place comes quite often as a result of their attachment with the movie in the first place rather than the other way around.

    • kennedy says:

Yes to some of the other comments. Brad actually makes REALLY interesting films. The Tree of Life is one of my favorite films of the last few years. It’s so beautifully made and features his strongest performance to date. I loved Moneyball and Killing Me Softly. So what if they are released in time for awards consideration?

Same goes for Leo. I don’t care if they come off as Oscar baity – but they aren’t in the traditional sense. They aren’t boring and routine like every other Tom Hooper film (e.g. The Kings Speech, The Danish Girl). Wolf of Wall Street was bonkers in the best way possible. I LOVE The Departed. Shutter Island was fantastic. Revolutionary Road was a fantastic film adaptation featuring two actors at the peak of their talent. The only recent Leo film that I felt was straight up boring was The Revenant – but I admire the technical expertise behind it. If Leo and Brad have the star power to get films – that ordinarily wouldn’t get made – in front of an audience, so be it! I don’t understand this “they only do it for Oscars and/or this is Oscar bait” argument. If it’s a great film and just so happens to win awards – more power to them! I’d take ten more Brad Pitt/Leo films over ANYTHING that Gerard Butler and/or Michael Bay are involved in.

  8. sofie says:

It’s obvious tabloids will try to make a story out of these recent pics but what’s more obvious is that only complete idiots believe them. Common sense alone will show what lies you are being fed by the fact they don’t have 40 kids, they haven’t been married over 100 times ,broken up even more let alone all the other nonsense they publish.

    • Emma - The JP Lover says:

      @Sofie …

Yep, and not one Tabloid will mention the fact that Angie and the kids are in England with Brad as well.

  9. willful ignorance says:

WWII films are so played out.

There are plenty of other subjects which deserve movie treatments.

  10. Josefina says:

Damn. Add a mental illness and you have all oscar bait clichés on one movie.

  11. Jayna says:

Marion is just a vision on screen. The camera loves her face. I was mesmerized by her in The Immigrant. Great, great actress, and so beautiful.

  12. Malice says:

I find him to be hideous.

  13. Andrea 1* says:

He looks mighty fine for a man of 52…

  14. Alix says:

The baby is adorbs. Brad’s lookin’ a wee bit baggy under the eyes.

  15. missmerry says:

    I’d watch Marion eat a paper-bag lunch.

    She’s incredible.

  16. Chinoiserie says:

He looks too old for the role, how many spies in their 50s there really was?

    • V4Real says:

Spies come in all ages and Brad does not look too old for this role; come on now.

      • Yepisaidit says:

He looks too old if he’s supposed to be her age. She is aging beautifully- looks a good 15-20 years younger than he does.

Marion is of course gorgeous and Brad looks like toast that’s been left out all night. Of course his fans and sites like this will gush over his overrated looks- lmao the last photo he is making a zoolander and duck lip pose like the thinks he’s the sht hahah

Sucks for Angelina that everything he does gets HER into the tabloids as the evil witch.

      • Emma - The JP Lover says:

@Yepisaidit, who wrote: “Sucks for Angelina that everything he does gets HER into the tabloids as the evil witch.”

What? Is Angelina currently in ‘tabloids as the evil witch’ and why? Source, please … and thanks!

      • Maya says:

@Yep: fair to say that there are thousands of women and men who disagree with you.

And no matter how hard you try pray for this couple to split and write bs about them on the verge of splitting – it ain’t going to happen.

      • Colette says:

If the producers wanted an actress to be his age. They should have cast an actress who was in her 50s.It would be refreshing to see an actress in her 50s or 60s playing opposite an actor in his 50s.

      • Paige says:

Ladies, Please stop feeding the Female First troll!!

    • Maya says:

Men in their 40s and 50s were recruited for the war so no – Brad is not old to be a spy.

And frankly – I didn’t know that you had to be a certain age to become a spy.

  17. lucy2 says:

I really love Marion’s work, but I’m kind of burnt out on all the WWII films and books too. Certainly one of the most important times in history, but too many writers are using it these days.

  18. Colette says:

They both look great .I love a chunky baby but that baby’s outfit is making me itch(flashbacks,I guess) 🙂

  19. Catelina says:

I’m excited about Brad and Marion working together, but ww2 is hardly new territory for Brad especially, and Zemeckis isn’t exactly in his prime in terms of quality output. I’m sure the movie will be solid if the script is good, but I’m much more excited about War Machine.

  20. sofie says:

My family fought in the war & there are so many stories to be told. I would rather watch a film about these times than anything marvel that we are oversaturated with.

    • Tough Cookie says:

      me too, sofie!!

    • KeishaMarie says:

Totally agree….my family fought as well, my husband loves war movies and we both prefer them to all the bazillion superhero movies….ugh sick of those…Hollywood’s love affair with Marvel is getting monotonous .

    • KeishaMarie says:

  21. bettyrose says:

WWII = America’s greatest achievement = America’s greatest generation = Make America great again . . . it’s a politically neutral topic with broad appeal, hence the endless movies churned out by Hollywood, beginning while the war was still going on (some truly great b/w films). Not a criticism. Just an explanation.

    • lisa2 says:

If we as a nation had the back bone these men and women had. If we had the ability to sacrifice and push/drive that they had.. we could once again be the Nation we were meant to be.

We need films that talk and show REAL people. I would rather see stories about this time than the Fantasy and Super hero films that we get all the time.

      And on a Superficial Note.

Brad Pitt is FOREVER for me. I think he is a wonderful looking man. I love how he is aging and think he is so underrated in his film work. He has created so many Iconic roles and characters that people still talk about. He seems to have found his path and is happy with his wife and family. I’m happy for him and will support this movie like I do all of his films.

  22. Pants says:

I am feeling this so hard. I’m here for this!

  23. Yepisaidit says:

    .

  24. Size Does Matter says:

Nobody asked, but I’d hit it into next month.

    • doofus says:

that kind of information can be volunteered around here, I think. no prompting needed. 😉

  25. RHall says:

I think 5 seconds of silence refers to the silence just before a bomb landed right on top of you. My parents who lived in London during WW2 as kids say you would hear the whistling sound of a bomb flying overhead and you could tell how close it was when it got quiet. That meant it was about to drop.

    • mia girl says:

Thanks for the explanation RHall. That gave me chills…

    • antipodean says:

@RHall, spot on, the five seconds was the time between the bomb landing, and when it exploded. Sometimes they didn’t explode, and apparently not hearing it was worse. There were squads in the British Army who were in charge of of disabling these UED’s. They were very brave men, and some of them were awarded military honours for their work. Even today a WW11 bomb will turn up on a building site, all over Britain, but mostly in London. It is quite an interesting subject.

    • Maya says:

Wonderful explanation – now this title makes it more intriguing.

    • Colette says:

      WOW,they gave me the chills.

    • KeishaMarie says:

Totally correct…my Mom told me this as well, she was a child in England during that time…great explanation

  26. Minxx says:

I really look forward to this movie! Love a good spy story, especially WWII romantic drama (Atonement!) with great leads. Marion is so beautiful and so talented and Brad is one of my favorites. The baby is all kinds of adorable. I read the synopsis and it sounds really good, especially the romantic, North Africa part. Can’t wait to see it!

  27. Gs says:

Brad is like king. He and his wife are the mark whom everyone make their problems OK by calling their name or by make it brad and angie did it first etc
Brad good things hurt very bad to some. Lol they get in to panic mode I guess
He looks normal. Not overdone like some.

  28. Redact says:

I love Marion and I like BP in some films. Can’t wait to catch this!
