Did you know that Canada’s golden couple, Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger, are back together officially? After separating last year, and reportedly being close to divorce, Chad and Avril have been loved up for much of 2016. They attended some events in LA around the Grammys back in February, and over the weekend, they were back in Canada for the Junos. Avril came with Chad to the Junos because he was nominated and because she’s feeling much better after her Lyme disease diagnosis last year.
Avril Lavigne and her soon-to-be ex-husband Chad Kroeger are on good terms — really good terms. On Sunday, the former couple hit the 2016 Juno Awards together sparking rumors they’ve halted their split.
“I came with Chad because Nickelback got nominated,” Lavigne, 31, told Canada’s eTalk. “And I’m just here supporting him.”
Kroeger, 41, had a similar response saying, “I got tired walking around with my band members, so I went and found hottie here.”
The pair called it quits in September 2015 after two years of marriage. The union as plagued with numerous marital issues. A year ago, Lavigne revealed her Lyme disease diagnosis and delivered an update on her health.
“I’m feeling so much better,” she said. “And so it’s nice to be able to do things like come to the Junos and ease my way back into it. I’m grateful to have Chad and his support. And the support of my family this past year, and just to be getting my life back really.”
I have mixed feelings about their now-official reunion. Like, I always think it’s sort of nice when a couple decides to give it another try. But I’m also pretty sure that Chad is a douche and that in the long run, this is going to end in disaster. Still, I guess it’s nice that Canada got their golden couple back. Enjoy this, Canada!

The cynic in me says, so she had a debiliating disease, they went to splitsville. Now that she is feeling better he is back in the picture? Oh yeah… Great foundation for a marriage..
I had lyme, but I never recovered my health. I have post lyme, or chronic lyme, or whatever they’re calling it (my official diagnoses are ME/CFS and POTS). It’s awful and debilitating and my partner had a rough time handling it for a while but was always kind and supportive. When you can’t wash your own hair and need assistance, it’s a whole other level of demand on the relationship. It’s like you both go through a loss of your health self.
I’m glad she’s feeling better now, I think some people just take longer to get over infections or have some type of post infectious syndrome that resolves gradually.

Fellow Canadian here and I concur. They are most definitely not our golden couple. He’s a skeevy douche. Also, an arrogant ass. I’m sort of meh about her but she gets shade by being married to him. Their both gross.
He reminds of one of those super nerds trying to always look cool to fit in but constantly fails miserably.

Me too – please stop with this golden couple sh*t. As for Chad the cad, he has, quite obviously, been visiting his friendly neighbourhood plastic surgeon. He’s still not remotely good looking but he is looking better than his glory days of being voted the “Ugliest Man in Rock”.

So I know a man, a really nice man my dad’s age, that recently committed suicide because he couldn’t deal with his Lyme Disease. I don’t know anything about suffering from this disease, but this happening gave me a new perspective on how bad it can be. Maybe avril couldn’t deal with being married while dealing with the disease, but now that she’s feeling better she can see her marriage in a different light?
I don’t care for Chad at all but I hope she’s feeling better and is happy.
