Miley Cyrus wants us to know that she thinks we’re trash. Not really us personally – just gossip sites that criticize celebrities, especially for their weight. But Miley has some tortured logic – this “trash” talk is all about an incident that occurred this week, when The Daily Mail took note of Miley’s dress length with a not very snarky headline. The Daily Mail headline was “Fan frenzy at Hannah Montana premiere, Miley Cyrus flashes legs in VERY short dress”. The dress was short – saying a dress is short isn’t really a trashy comment. At worst, it’s a fashion criticism. But Miley took this fashion criticism as weight criticism – which wasn’t the case.
Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus has hit out at the trend for gossip websites to criticise the weight and behaviour of celebrities.
The 16-year-old has herself been an object of scrutiny from the tabloid press, with controversial photographs landing the young actress in hot water over the last year.
And after the website of the Daily Mail website ran pictures of Miley at the UK premiere of the Hannah Montana film with a headline that criticised the length of her dress, the Breakout singer has said she wishes gossip sites would “go away”.
“I think they’re hard on the celebrities featured but the kids that go on there as well,” she told reporters at a London press conference ahead of the release of the movie based on her hit Disney Channel series.
“I’m a normal girl and if I was any smaller, I’d be ‘too skinny’ and if I was any bigger I’d be ‘too fat’, there’s never perfection.
“But if the sites show pictures of me on the red carpet and then kids think ‘that’s what you’re supposed to look like’, I think it gets people mixed up. Not only the celebrities, but the kids reading it as well.”
Miley added: “I think it’s all trash.”

Personally, I hate snarky comments about any woman’s weight, especially when it’s a young girl. Miley does have a point – young girls will see pictures of Miley in a short dress, or some outfit with her boobs popping out, and they’ll think that’s appropriate. But those dresses aren’t our fault! We didn’t make Miley wear this stuff!
Miley has reason enough to hate gossip sites, what with the especially busy gossip year she’s had. All of the bad, good and in-between press hasn’t really affected her career, though. Hannah Montana: The Movie opened at number one, and Miley’s a bigger celebrity now than she was a year ago. Perhaps Miley should just stop complaining and put on some pants.

Ok but THAT dress is just HIDEOUS, Miley.
And one thing I like about this site as opposed to some others is that there’s not the usual weight-bashing. On other sites, I’ve seen horrible comments about celebs being “obese,” “hugely fat,” “a cow” etc when they aren’t even fat!!!!! It’s ridiculous! (I mean from the writers, not the commenters.)
And the only time thinness gets written about around here is when someone is suddenly a lot thinner (Lohan) or when they are obviously painfully thin. Even then, it doesn’t happen that often.
if anything is trash its miley
If I had her legs I would wear skirts like that too! 🙂
Did anyone see clips of her dissing Helen Mirren? This little hillybilly twat can choke on a chicken wing as far as I’m concerned.
If I had a body like that when I was sixteen I’d be running around in a bikini and high heals.
I think the short dress looked great on her, and I don’t ordinarily use the expression “looked great” when talking about Miley Cyrus.
I have no problem with the dress, her weight or anything else.
However, I DO have a problem with her being a hillbilly, ignorant, hideous, good for nothing CHIPMUNK.
And she can go f*ck herself for slagging Helen Mirren off.
I agree with her about the weight thing and I also think her red carpet style is nice and she has a great body to pull them off.
Blah blah blah to her comments – i just wanted to say two things:
i honest to God thought it was Alyssia Milano in the header pic.
I really like the “look” with the short dress, it’s quirky and the heels are gorgeous. But I can’t help thinking that someone like Dakota Fanning could wear it and make it look edgier and a bit classier.
What did she say about Helen Mirren?
“What did she say about Helen Mirren?”
There is a clip of her recent interview with Jonathan Ross during which she made some rather disrespectful remarks about Helen on YouTube.
Basically, she was telling Ross (Helen Mirren was a co-guest and sitting about 15 feet behind Miley waiting for her own interview) that she would like to play a dramatic role such as “The Queen”. She didn’t actually SAY anything derogatory about Helen but, she kept referring to her as “she” and “her”, refusing to actually say her name.
In all fairness, I think she was ticked off at Ross for making a joke at her expense a few minutes earlier and, was being deliberately disrespectful to both him and Helen to tick him off. But, she came off like a spoiled rotten, head-up-her-own-ass Yankee brat.
It is a totally cringe-inducing interview.
I think Miley is trash.
First off, Miley is no Yankee. Isn’t she from Tennessee? That would make her a Southern girl. Also, I have to say, my opinion of her went up when she endorsed gay marriage and criticized weight gossip.
But she’s still no Yankee.
I really wish she would stfu. Who is talking about her weight? and that second dress mini, she is too young to be wearing that. This girl is hot in the ass and she is trying to have it both ways. She looks like she’s a call girl working the stroll. Way to sell that “wholesome” image.
This Disney brat is working my last nerve.
Is there some kind of PR/celebrity training school? That’s what some of these celebs need. They need to have classes in ‘What subjects we don’t talk about’, or ‘How to conduct an appropriate interview’, ‘How to respond to criticism’.
Some PR person could be making oodles of money setting up this school/educational program for celebs, because some of them so desperately need it. (Maybe there could be a ‘What Not to Wear’ section, too).
I am willing to cut Miley a break because she is 16. She sould be getting a lot more help from PR people–why on earth is Disney not hiring someone who can teach this child how to behave???
However, I have seen a lot of adult celebs who should know better by experience and age act just as badly if not worse.
And I will say if I were on the receiving end of constant public ridicule and criticism, I would consider it trash, too!
Why are we hearing about this girl’s every brain fart?
It’s like you want us to overdose on how utterly vacuous and tiresome she is. (For the record: it’s working. Ta da! She’s a bint. Can we move on now?)

I think Miley is gorgeouse in the shorter dress it showed of her amazing legs and yes it may be a bit tight for some people but mileys style choice is mileys style choice I personley love it too short would be were you could see her pants also the longer dress compliments her pefectly normal healthy body in an elegant sophistacated way.In either dress I’d be proud to be standing there in them good choice miley x
I can’t help but think back to when I was the same age. I’m sure I made many mistakes, WOULD have worn inappropriate clothing (had my parents not totally forbidden it) – and if I were on a talk show being interviewed I would’ve no doubt said many wrong things.
Do you honestly believe she INTENTIONALLY slagged Helen Mirren…or was this just an intentional faux pas?
She’s young, immature, and inexperienced.
Let’s hope time and experience will teach her the lessons she requires in order to carry herself with class in the future.
