Don’t ask me why I care so much about this couple, I really don’t know. I just like Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik together. They’re my favorite Young It Couple. And they’re back together! Let me clarify the time line: I started to suspect that Zayn had dumped Gigi just after they walked the Met Gala carpet together, so mid-May. By late May, the tabloids were saying that a split had occurred and Gigi was posting cryptic messages to social media. Last week, we got the confirmation that a split had happened but that they might get back together. Gigi spent several weeks strutting around LA and New York, presumably to show Zayn what he was missing post-breakup. And it worked! They’re back together. But they could easily breakup again tomorrow.

Breakups to make-ups! Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik are back to pillow talk. Though sources confirmed to Us Weekly on June 2 that the model, 21, and the former boy-bander, 23, had split up for good, Hadid called Malik her boyfriend in an Elle interview the next day. She also lip-synched to his song on Snapchat and was spotted wearing a “Z” necklace June 4.

“They broke up and got back together almost right away,” a pal confirms in the new issue of Us Weekly. “Right now it’s back on, but it could be off again in an hour.”

The insider adds that the duo, who first started dating in November after Hadid split from singer Joe Jonas, are acting their age. “They are young and keep going back and forth,” says the source. “Things are testy between them.”

But a second insider says personality clashes are also at the root of their rocky relationship. “He wants to stay home and hang out, but she loves the limelight,” says the pal. “She loves attention and he hates it. An introvert and an extrovert; we all saw it coming.”

I’ve never really thought of Zayn as an introvert – he was part of One Direction, after all – but it’s probably true that he’s shy and more withdrawn than most people. But it’s true that even though Zayn is based in LA these days, he’s rarely going out. Or if he is going out, it’s not to the pap-friendly locales. Gigi is the one getting pap’d like her life depends on it. She’s the one who goes to the opening of every envelope and Snapchats everything. So, yeah, I think Us Weekly’s sources are right: Gigi and Zayn will break up again and it will just be the same old-same old.
