Ariel Winter would like everyone to know she is single. Ariel dated Laurent Claude Gaudette for three years. They began dating not long after she was removed from her mother’s home. Laurent was with her during her emancipation and her breast reduction. After a brief break in December 2015, they were back together in April for Coachella but it looks like maybe they didn’t make it to prom. Her posts from that night did not include any with Laurent but they did included this one:
That sends a pretty loud message. Despite all of her hints, I guess people did not catch on to Ariel’s liking so she borrowed from Kim Kardashian to confirm their split. On Saturday, Ariel tweeted the following:

When Ariel and Laurent broke up in December she posted a screen-grab of Beyonce’s Single Ladies video. The former couple unfollowed each other on social media (even though Laurent still follows her sister and co-star Rico Rodriguez.) So even if the double flip-off didn’t clue us in, I guess this should have? I am neither 18 nor savvy on social media but I can’t understand why Ariel felt the need to shame those who didn’t understand her clues. Although, it might have more to do with a messy break-up than us being ignorant.
Ariel, as is well documented by now, is a strong proponent of being Body Positive. She supports a woman’s right to bare as much as she likes. In keeping with her liberated stance, to celebrate reaching 2 million followers, Ariel celebrated by posting this (NSFW) picture of herself in a bum-revealing bikini. As a person who is more comfortable in what was once called a ‘bathing costume,’ I applaud her confidence. However, Ariel should be wary – like her mentor Kim K, sometimes overexposure results in boredom, not deliverance. That said, I would kill to have her @$$.

I don’t think she’s ‘shaming’ anyone for not getting it. Loads of people were still mentioning the guy/asking about him in the comments, so she had to make it more obvious. That’s all.
Or she could be a tiny bit mysterious and just let people figure it out. Young stars need better media training. You can keep people more interested by giving them less.

I know she had a rough time dealing with her mother, and I’m really happy she’s going to college, but she’s starting to seem a bit…Kardashian like, and that is not a compliment.

I agree. I really like her body positivity and she has said a lot of on point things about various topics but this sort of thing is tiring. It’s not body shaming or whatever. Maybe I’m just old now and don’t understand what the kids are doing.
YupI like her on Modern Family but she’s not the type of girl that is interesting enough to discuss on blogs. I liked that she was lowkey and she deserves peace after the emancipation debacle.
Lately however, there’s been more coverage about her (and this relationship) because she is clearly thirsty for attention. I don’t want to be too harsh because I suspect her need for attention, like many people who are in the entertainment business, is coupled to the lack of positive attention her parents (mother) gave her. Plus I feel like she’s falling into that trap of a child star wanting to be seen as an adult and for girls apparently the only way to do that is to sexualize themselves. I’m sure she will deny this but it’s almost par on course at this point and the signs are obvious: being grateful for your Insta followers by posting a butt shot (or any type of nudity) is a typical (and boring) tactic of the attention starved. Lots of her statements are just her fronting because I don’t believe she’s as confident as she says she is. She only knows one type of confidence at the moment: showing your body. Not inventing the wheel there and it’s such a narrow-minded view to prove a point too. I get it’s a way of reclaiming agency and good for her but at the same time I also wonder if they are really trying to prove a point or just using a movement to feed their own ego because it’s hard to critique that type of attitude when it’s linked to a movement.
And any negative press article is closely paid attention to and of course responded to which is a sign she’s overly invested in an image most people don’t really care for.
Hopefully her sister helps her navigate into adulthood because it’s so easy for these girls to go the Lohan way. Ariel seems to be somewhat interested in other stuff besides fame, she seems like to value education and is somewhat aware of what goes on in society so hopefully she’ll stop wanting to be ‘popular’ and focus on other stuff besides getting meaningless attention.
I heard she’s going to UCLA. Maybe that will do the trick? On the other hand I can see it compounding the problem too

I think she got a little attention for various things, liked it, and is now courting it. Which never ends well. I wish her the best though, I just hope she comes out of this phase unscathed and realizes she has more to offer.
It does seem like she’s gone off the rails a bit but hopefully she will get her priorities figured out. It seemed like her fellow MF cast members were looking out for her at one point, maybe they need to take her back under their wings for a bit again.

If you’re going to post a KK reference this is how I read it – “I’m dropping hints that I’m single” why aren’t people getting it and making a big deal about it? I sooo want to talk about this with my loyal fans and media so they can make a story about it.
Given that I’ve watched A LOT of Sofia the First with my toddler, it is really freaking me out how much of her body (boobs and a**) that I’ve seen now. I know she’s only the voice of Sofia, but I’m weirdly having a hard time separating her work on Sofia and how sexualized she is in real life. My problem, not hers, I know. Just glad my kid can’t see this.

The media (and non fans) just didn’t care she broke up with her BF so because she thinks she’s so important she goes courting it? Yet girl we still don’t care. Sure we are talking about it, but it’s still more -geez this girl is thirsty- than anything else. She’s trying to take a page out of Kim K’s book. I also find her body positive stuff not as authentic as it should be, to me it seems like a front to try and bypass criticism when it comes her way and to cover for attention seeking behavior. I would rather hear a woman say “I want the attention so here’s my body because that’s how I get it.” And just own it. I would respect that way more. And there is nothing wrong with that if that’s what a woman wants to do. But don’t call it something else.

I kind of agree with the consensus here, however I think a lot of it is probably about the fact she previously had the opposite of a positive body image, and was self conscious about her large chest. After her reduction she probably had a new confidence she didn’t have before and she hasn’t figured out yet how to demonstrate it, and she’s a teenager, so she’s probably gone a little over zealous with it all. I hope so anyway. I’d hate to think she’s just gone from refreshingly sensible to the trashy tits and ass brigade overnight. She doesn’t seem to get that having the right to dress however you like isn’t the same thing as being provocative for the hell of it.

Sadly she been taught that this is the only way to get attention and she seems to have gotten attention seeking as she gets older. If she is looking to Kim K as a role model I truly fear for her.

She’s a legal child. She’ll continue to dress like she doesnt care what she looks like. Lots of ladies confuse being able to show skin with having “style”. It’s just a part of growing up. Never watched modern family bc im not a kid or mom i guess, so dont know how different she is from her character in appearance.
