Another day, another round of Public Mom Shaming. This time, the torch and pitchfork brigade has gone after Jenni “J-Woww” Farley and her husband Roger Mathews. Jenni (for some reason I keep misspelling J-Woww) posted this picture Sunday of Roger and her two-month-old baby Greyson hanging out in the pool:
Cute, right? His little expression and that hat are adorable. Not everybody agreed. Apparently some commenters chastised Jenni for having Greyson in a chlorinated pool and not wearing sunscreen. How they came to the conclusion that he wasn’t wearing sunscreen is beyond me but they did. Unlike Kristin Cavallari, Jenni did not take the flippant approach in her response. Jenni went off on her judgers.
JWoww does not want to be told how to parent.
Jenni “JWoww” Farley, 30, took to Instagram on Sunday, about one hour after posting an adorable shot of her 9-week-old son Greyson with her husband Roger Mathews in the pool.
Her second post fired back at commenters on her previous Instagram, some of whom suggested that it was unsafe for her newborn to be in the pool and claiming the child wasn’t wearing sunscreen.
“Not even sure why I am even doing this but I feel like schooling people on my previous post,” the former Jersey Shore star wrote. “First off, my son is two months and in a salt water pool up to his belly… Probably for a total of three minutes.”
Then, she redirected the post to address the debate over whether or not she put sunscreen on her baby.
“But second is where I need to really educate trolls…” she said. “Let me explain to the haters that decided to comment about no sunscreen and the dangers bla bla bla My son actually does have sunscreen on. It’s the same concept as diaper cream. Probably even better than the crap s— you lather your children in.”
“Remember assh—- I’m in the tanning industry and pride myself on knowing this. So, here is what I mixed for my son so I know for the 2 minutes he would be safe: Coconut Oil- SPF 4-6 Zinc Oxide SPF 2-20 depending on how much used Carrot Seed Oil – SPF 35-40… Go enjoy your Sunday now.”
Jenni and Roger also have a two-year-old daughter, Meilani, so she isn’t some new mom who needs advice. I had to look up what “in the tanning business” means and I found out that Jenni endorses a tanning lotion line with Australian Gold so I guess she does know this stuff. If anyone makes her sunblock recipe, let me know if it works.
I have two kids aged 9 and 11. I never knew it isn’t recommended for infants to go swimming before two months. I will have to break out some baby books to see if I took them swimming younger than eight weeks. The upside to all the Public Mom Shaming is that I am learning so much. The downside is it all stuff that I should have learned over a decade ago. Ah well, I just think of it like this: every super-blunder I make as a mother adds another zero to the sales of their Mommy Dearest-esque memoirs.

Cute little chunk! I don’t see how dipping the baby in the pool completely supervised for a few minutes is any different than a bath re: the advisory stuff. I’m intrigued by her sunscreen mix, is it like organic sunscreen she mixes with an oil? What purpose does the oil serve? (Not a judgement I have just never heard of this).
Maybe as a moisurizer?
First, a salt water pool would be just as bad as a pool with chlorine (not that I’m saying it’s bad). Give them a bath right after and put lotion on. I was never told not to take a child before 2 months. Maybe it has something to do with the umbilical chord being healed. Took my oldest grandson in a pool at 3 months. He loved it and is a total water person! As long as you are protecting them with suncreen, a hat, etc, it should not matter. Some people just want something to argue about.
You cant educate trolls, dummy.

Can’t reason with unreasonable people
People can find an issue with anything, it’s ridiculous and I don’t know how celebs deal with it. It’s her son and her business, there’s nothing wrong with what she did, just relax. I’m so tired of the trolling sanctimommy BS. Mind your own children and stop shaming the rest of us.
My husband and I are dedicated boaters. My son was a water baby at age 6 months. Other than the umbilical cord healing, I’ve never heard of avoiding water before two months. For what purpose? Also, salt water isn’t any big deal on the skin for brief periods. That’s what moisturizer afterward is for. Boy, people sure do look for drama where there is none, don’t they?
The scary thing about the mommy shaming stuff – a hell of a lot of the complaints/suggestions aren’t based in any sort of fact/medical knowledge. It’s a load of misinformation that gets spread around and used to shame people who don’t believe in it.
It’s J Woww. I just can’t get worked up enough to care.
I remember when my kids were younger hearing that they shouldn’t put sunscreen on before 6 months – maybe that’s how people knew? But we also took our daughter to the beach at around 2 months. We limited her time outside, kept a hat on her and kept her under an umbrella, dipped her in a pool. I told the doctor before we went and they never said anything. In fact, the doctor said lots of babies have to grow up in hot parts of the country so just do your best. I bet that baby went in for a minute to take a picture with daddy and came right back out. People on instagram are ridiculous.
My kids have been around water all their lives and outside since they were very young. I know they were definitely in the water and on the beach at 2 months of age because we lived in the Bahamas when they were wee ones. Step outside the house and you were on the beach. The Mommy-shaming needs to stop. No one is the perfect parent.
Omg!! Those kids should be sleeping horizontally!! What a terrible mother!
😂
How old is she? She looks like she’s 45 with recent plastic surgery. And wasn’t she training to be a professional bodybuilder?
Gosh, celebs need to disengage.
You have money, a baby and a relationship. Enjoy it. Do you really care about the opinions of strangers? I guess many do or else they wouldn’t look.
