Legally Blonde is one of the few movie that I will always stop for if I am flicking channels to see what’s on. I thought Reese Witherspoon was a riot in it and I kind of adore Jennifer Coolidge. There have been times, hand to God, that I or someone else doubted I could do something and I told myself inwardly, “Elle Woods got in to Harvard” as motivation.
Wednesday was the 15-year anniversary of the movie’s release. To celebrate, Reese showed off several of the costumes and props she had on hand from the film and asked her Instagram and Snapchat followers to post their favorite memories/creations with the hashtag #LegallyBlonde15.
Reese kicked off celebrations a day early, posting a video to her Instagram alerting fans to the upcoming celebrations by waving around her fuzzy pink pen and asking her followers to tag her in anything that reminds them of the film.
She then went on Snapchat, revealing that she still has a box filled with all of her old costumes, including a huge array of pink and fuzzy heels. Why those aren’t all a regular part of her everyday wardrobe rotation we’ll never understand.
Reese set things in motion with this:
Then she demonstrated the Bend and Snap:
Her bunny costume (damn you, Vivian!):
I love the “Still fits too” caption on this:
And God bless her, she still rocks this bikini:
Reese, as a person, can rub me the wrong way but this was silly and a great way to honor the film’s playful vibe. Good for her for having fun with it. I hope that when she put on that sequined swimsuit, she said to at least one person, “What? Like it’s hard?”

Pretty adorable. Such a sweet, fun movie. I’d forgotten what a wonderful comedienne she is!
Meh, I liked the movie but not enough to get excited about the anniversary. I love the “Elle Woods got into Harvard” as motivation, though, lol. Whatever works, right?
In that shot with the bunny ears, Reese looks so much like Melanie Griffith to me, weird.
I love that movie! Even my husband likes it, which is saying something. It’s sweet, funny, and has really good messages.
I felt a little sorry for her, trying to get this going. I don’t know anyone who is that into Legally Blonde…it’s not like Cruel Intentions.
You’re probably an older generation then. Love LB, it’s great.
Chile, I’m under 30!
I do! I was in college and living in a sorority house when it came out and we had it playing in our room on repeat. All of the stereotypes and the props used were hilariously accurate of sorority life then. The Tiffany chain necklace and bracelet, the Clinique makeup, her sorority Delta Nu had the same colors as a real sorority called Delta Zeta. Still love it.
I love it too!!!
The giant box of costumes fascinates me. Does she have one for each movie in a spare closet somewhere? Do actors always keep their clothes? Do they hold on to them in case the Smithsonian comes knocking or what?
Also, I love Reese’s enthusiasm for it all. She’s definitely moved more into the power producer and serious movies and I appreciate that she doesn’t take herself too seriously to bend and snap or wear goofy old costumes.
Love it. It really was a good and surprisingly inspirational movie, I also watch it every time I come across it too.
Also, jealous of her organization and storage skills.
It was a cute movie. Not a classic, in my view. And wow!!! She can still fit in her costumes!!! She must be an amazingly superior human being!!! (I can’t stand her – “Do you know who I am???” Jerk.)
I love this! Reese can sometimes rub me the wrong way, but she is a good actress. Now I think I have to watch Legally Blonde this weekend.
Love Legally Blonde. I like that she doesn’t take herself seriously (she’s an Oscar winner, y’all!) and still acknowledges the funny parts of her film resume.
I loved Legally Blonde! As a blonde woman who’s had a hard time being taken seriously at a couple of jobs, this movie really spoke to me while making me laugh, and I’m glad Reese is still supporting it.
Warner dropped out of harvard and became besties with damon…
Legally Blonde 4eva!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love me some Elle Woods!!!!
That movie was so much fun. It was a hoot, especially for those of us who were in that age group at the time. It is still one of my all time favorite movies.
On a related note- I highly recommend the Legally Blonde musical.
Me too! It’s amazing and had all the same feel good moments, but with music! Saw it here in Australia a couple of years ago. My boyfriend bought me tickets for my birthday. He’d never been to a musical before and afterwards he said: ‘my face hurts from smiling so much’!
Still love Legally Blonde too. One of Reese’s greatest roles.
She’s adorable.
