Scott Eastwood has better management than Tom Hiddleston, surprise!

Around this time last year, Taylor Swift debuted her music video for the single “Wildest Dreams.” The video was not good, by any stretch of the imagination. The video cast Taylor as a 1950s movie star having an on-set affair with an actor played by Scott Eastwood, all set against the backdrop of the worst of colonialist “African” tropes. Here’s the video again:

I said at the time that Taylor Swift is such a terrible actress, she actually makes Scott Eastwood look charismatic and natural. Seriously, watch the video. Scott gives the better performance by far! So, this is just a funny endnote to this video. Apparently, Scott’s management didn’t want him to have anything to do with Taylor Swift. How is that Scott Eastwood has better management than Tom Hiddleston?!

Taylor Swift has one more A-list actor to add to her squad. In a recent interview this week, Scott Eastwood revealed that his agents originally advised him not to accept the role of Taylor Swift’s love interest in her “Wildest Dreams” music video.

“None of my agents wanted me to do it, actually,” Eastwood, 30, told People. “They said, ‘Oh, we don’t want you to do that! Why would you go be Taylor Swift’s boy toy?’ And I said, ‘Why the hell not?'”

[From ET]

No, seriously: how does Scott Eastwood have better management than Tom Hiddleston?! Scott’s management had the right idea: being Taylor Swift’s boy-toy, whether real or fictionalized (who can tell?) is not great for your career. While I like that Scott decided to do the video anyway, the instincts of his managers were absolutely right. And I can only imagine that Tom Hiddleston’s manager, publicist and agent are ripping out their hair right now because of all of the shady headlines.

His managers weren’t smart enough to stop him from doing that interview with his dad. The video will probably be forgotten soon enough but that interview?

    • Tiffany says:

I do not think anyone could have predicted it would go that far off the rails. From what was written, Scott just went silent when Clint was running his mouth. He has a frat brother mentality but has never opening been anything like his old man.

I defended Scott Eastwood. Damn it!

      • Snazzy says:

HA HA don’t worry, it happens to all of us at some point. we won’t hold it against you … this time 😉

    • holly hobby says:

Seriously, I don’t think anyone foresaw what Clint was dumping out there. Not to give Clint an excuse but at his age, he’s like the parent who has no F—s to give and just speaks his mind – to the children’s embarrassment.

  2. Georgia says:

Actually being in a Taylor swift video gave him more exposure than whatever movie he’s in because I don’t know a single person who knows who he is besides being in that video. People don’t associate him to his dad because he’s a bad actor. I don’t even remember him being announced as a cast member in suicide squad. You want to be seen or noticed, attach yourself to Taylor. Everyone knows this. Why do think that Kanye can’t let 2009 go.

    • We Are All Made Of Stars says:

I hate ThirsTay with a passion but you’re right. Nobody knows who Squint Eastwood is at all. He strikes me as the kind of guy at prep school who thinks he’s all rugged and tough but the truth is that he’s spent his whole life sleeping on cashmere bedsheets and having his bottom vanilla powdered by the headmistress. No charisma, no looks, no clue. This video is what he’ll be remembered for.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

I was about to type, “He’s in Suicide Squad?” but then I vaguely remembered what person he might be in the commercial.

    • holly hobby says:

I did see him in the Longest Ride. He’s there for eye candy.

  3. Lucy says:

Well, to be fair to Scott, he came out without a scratch. I mean, she did make him look better.

  4. Chef Grace says:

The difference is the level of thirst. Scott has the Eastwood name, which cuts that thirsty need somewhat, while Tom has, well, not much but THE THIRST!
TH claim to fame will forever be his wet water frolic as Taytays boy toy.
    I love that. LOL

    • We Are All Made Of Stars says:

Hahaha, and Scott’s claim will be the same, just in video form! Scott gets roles b/c of the connection, but Hiddley-Piddley actually has to werk for it. Idk, I kind of respect Tom more for that in some sick way.

    • Cranberry says:

Well Tom has had some misses, but let’s not forget he’s played some great characters and been in some critically successful projects: Loki, Hollow Crown, High Rise. It might not mean anything to US mainstream audiences, but it’s not nothing and it’s certainly more than Scott can do. Hell, Tom’s five minute appearance on stage at Comic Con in 2013 is better entertainment than most anything Scott’s done.

      • Cranberry says:

        (amendment)

“Hell, Tom’s five minute appearance on stage *AS LOKI* at Comic Con 2013 . . .”

    • jammypants says:

I’d argue his actual claim to fame was Loki.

      • Cranberry says:

Yes, that is his claim to fame, but he’s also put in good performances in other successful if not critical productions. By successful I don’t necessarily mean US BO success. I assume Hollow Crown was financially successful because they made a second installment, and Coriolanus seemed to do fine for its market level too. Other credible work is Hank W performance and HR.

      • jammypants says:

        @Cran, agreed!

  5. Becky says:

Haven’t seen this vid before, but watched it with the sound off.

First impressions: Taylor looks great, but her acting is awful. The whole “he broke my heart” crap at the end is stupid, not even taking into account the god-awful white colonial tone of the vid. Wouldn’t have known that was Scott Eastwood either.

Serious question, is she trying to be Grace Kelly, Ava Gardner or Meryl Streep?

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

All of Taylor’s videos always make me tired.

Either it’s over produced bad special effects or its her terrible acting.

The less she does the better.

  6. Nicole says:

Well at least his managers have better sense. Lol poor tom except you reap what you sow. As much as I don’t like taylor she did not force him into this sham. He went in with eyes WIDE open. He couldn’t have predicted the anti-Swift backlash of Summer 2016 but still…ahhh it makes me laugh.

How mad is he that his stupid drama is overshadowing him FINALLY getting some awards recognition? Must suck

    • Fa says:

I think Tom PR team couldn’t pass the opportunity after at Met G dance with her went viral they encourage him to go after her after that video because everyone was talking about it people in general didn’t know him that well except comics book fanboy

      • Cranberry says:

I think you’re right. I don’t think this was on the table before the viral Met dancing video. Their PR didn’t have much time to put together a half way plausible narrative so they appear to have just dipped into sappy, tween fan fiction instead.

    • jammypants says:

Is it really “his” drama though? All the drama is really hers and he got caught up in it just by association. I’d hardly call frolicking in the beach waves with your bae “drama”.

  7. Nina says:

doing the video wasnt a bad idea in terms of exposure. that certainly helped him. tom being in a video with her would have been out of character but nowhere near the crapshow their “relationship” is.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Not to mention Tom looks like he’d be one of her Dad’s friends not a potential love interest. If you’re going to stare into Taylor’s eyes in fake romance you better at least be hot.

  8. vauvert says:

So he brings it up in an effort to insert himself into a trending gossip topic while at the same time trying to give credit to his management team, but also trying to get some credit for himself – being so “cool” and “manly” that he is okay with being the man candy in that video. And you guys don’t think that’s thirsty? I bet he would have jumped at the chance to date her – whether IRL or for PR. The guy lacks talent and charisma and all he has to coast on is his looks and name – until he opens his mouth.
At least his dad used to have talent. A jack*ss and a douche, but talented. Sadly that is now overshadowed by the lunatic things he says. He was fortunate that in his day we only knew the stars the way the studios wanted us to know them. I used to love Clint’s movies, but I have the feeling that he ranks along Gibson in terms of personality, and had I known that, I would have boycotted his movies 100%.

    • Susie 1of 3 says:

Exactly. Why is he talking about this a year later? To be associated with 2016 TS gossip headlines? Non story.
Sadly, I agree with your opinion on Clint also. With the Internet and media today, the person behind the studio promoted personna can be known.

    • Bonzo says:

Lainey pointed out that that particular video criticized for its white colonialism. Perhaps it wasn’t the smartest way to raise his profile.

“So he loses both ways. He’s either disloyal to his team or he’s too dumb to listen to his team. But what’s fascinating about Scott Eastwood is that he remains totally unaware, the living embodiment of ignorance is bliss.”

  9. Ankhel says:

Hiddleston’s manager is that Luke guy, who normallys gets Tom places on time by physically towing him along. (Tom gets distracted as easily as a chicken in a fun house.)
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Luke handled this relationship the same way? Swift abandoned on every photo op because Tom is being dragged away, meekly protesting about pastry swans…

  10. Monie says:

That man can’t close his mouth in a pic to save his life.

  11. Matchday says:

Countdown to Scott Eastwood getting a private plane ride and escort to a certain rocky coastline in Rhode Island.

  12. pikawho? says:

I bet his dad was super proud of that messy colonialist video, if nothing else.

And Hiddleston seems like the type to ignore all career advice because he’s an Etonian/Oxbridgian and their judgement shall not be questioned by plebs (even hired plebs!) Plus all attention is good attention right?

    • jammypants says:

“I bet his dad was super proud of that messy colonialist video, if nothing else.”

      Ugh, sad and probably true.

    • Cranberry says:

I see it the other way around. I think Tom is too much the yes man and goes above and beyond to show that he is a dedicated “company man” and will always comply with his management’s game plan to ensure or salvage the financial success of his films.

  13. Harryg says:

I really dislike that Anna Wintour hair, btw.

  14. Jess says:

The funniest aspect of the Tiddles relationship for me is all the “Poor Tom” comments. I find them hilarious

    • Matchday says:

Poor Tom that he agreed to a relationship for publicity and involved his family in a pap stroll AND then it didn’t work out like he wanted. Poor Tom indeed.

Does he have a GoFundMe where I can donate?

    • FW says:

poor Tom as in Tom is very poor compared to TayTay the highest earning musician of 2015

  15. ds says:

He’s an A list? What horrible list is that? Seriously, I wanna see it.

  16. Bee says:

I’ve seen this guy in exactly nothing, but I will admit he’s pretty hot to look at. If you picture Hiddles in this video instead it launches it into every more tragic territory, so he didn’t do too badly all things considered. She really needs to stop waving her arms about, they resemble uncoordinated twigs. I’d love to know who really advises Tom Hiddleston, and what they plan to do about this monster that’s been created. Scott Eastwood’s management are probably just relieved it’s not him because he was probably very high on her “Boyfriend List” and associated mood board.

  17. Livealot says:

Just came to say he’s a looker

  18. SM says:

How do we know Tommy’s managment did not warm him? Maybe he felt he knew better just like Scotty dod not listen to his managment

  19. Cranberry says:

I’m here because of the Hiddles bait.

    • jammypants says:

Me too 😀 Long time no see Cranberry!

      • Cranberry says:

        Hey there Jammy!

Yeah, I know. Apparently several of us got “shaken off” the tree when this whole Tiddles-gate broke. I’ve been keeping up though ( in the shadows). I saw you replied to my post on the other thread, so I’ll catch you again over there. 🙂

  20. I would have loved to have been at the table for the pitch meeting for this video.
“It’s going to be an upmarket 40s Out of Africa soft porn with the lead played by (*insert the name of the mean girl from your high school here*)
And of course she gets her heart broken in the end.

By Jeebus Eastwood lilies like his dad. And crikey is Swift a terrible actress.
