Back in May, we learned that hottie Alden Ehrenreich was cast as “the young Han Solo” in one of the many, many Star Wars spinoffs/reboots/whatever movies coming out. This film will follow Han Solo’s adventures before he even met up with Luke and Leia. Out of the short-list of actors up for the role, I thought Alden was a decent choice. He’s cute in a smirky way, which sort of fits for Han Solo. Now there’s a new casting situation, and it’s making me soooo happy! They’re looking for an actor to play a young Lando Calrissian. YAS. The original Lando was played by the excellent Billy Dee Williams. It’s going to be difficult to find someone to fill those shoes.
Han Solo is getting a gambling buddy — his standalone “Star Wars” spinoff film is casting a young Lando Calrissian. Fans have speculated about which of the characters from Solo’s complicated past might turn up in “Han Solo,” and now we know at least one. The Cloud City cassanova was originally played by Billy Dee Williams, and the current code name in casting circles for young Lando is “Chance” — perhaps a reference to the character’s appreciation of cards and dice.
Though we met Lando in “The Empire Strikes Back” — in which Darth Vader forced him to betray Han, Leia, Chewbacca and C-3PO when they turned up at Cloud City — he has a long history with Solo that we may see parts of in the new standalone film. Lando famously lost the Millennium Falcon to Solo in a game called sabacc — though he got to fly it again in “Return of the Jedi.”
So… we get to dream-cast a young Lando, basically. Who should it be? I enjoyed Corey Hawkins in Straight Outta Compton – he played a young Dr. Dre – and he’s tall and suave enough, I think. Michael B. Jordan would be the “fan favorite” choice, but I have qualms about the idea of putting MBJ in a supporting role, you know? MBJ should get his own movie, not play second fiddle to Alden. Anthony Mackie’s name will probably be put on some list, but I kind of think Mackie is too old to play Lando in this version, when both Lando and Han are supposed to be in their 20s. You know who I thought of first though? Donald Glover. COME ON! It should totally be Donald Glover.

I’m on board with the Donald Glover suggestion.
That was my first thought as well.
YES
Great suggestion! I’m also throwing Corbin Blue in the ring. He has the look.
When I see Donald Glover I start humming the “Troy and Abed in the Morning” theme from Community, I must stop….
I think it should be Michael B. Jordan (who could then have his own spinoff), but he’ll probably be too tied up with the Creed franchise. But I could definitely see Donald Glover in the role.
Corey Hawkins is the star of the 24 reboot for Fox so he might not be a contender.
What about Sharmik Moore. He was great in Dope and I think a franchise role can give him a deserved boost.
Dope! I LOVED that movie.
Or John David Washington would be another good choice.
Donald All Day!
I know Donald is a popular choice but he will be a nightmare when it comes to promotion. He does not play the game and no one will throw that kind of money at him if he does not.
you are right on that aspect, he is a doll to look at but yeah he is very much marching to his own beat
Say no more! Donald it is/should be.
Please not Donald!
+1
He is annoying.
What about Nate Parker– not the right age? OMG he is so handsome…. Looks-wise and talent-wise he would be perfect IMO.
I’m bothered by the rape accusations against Nate Parker. He gets a NOPE from me.
There is no one as smooth as Billy Dee! Anyone who could is too old for the role.
Han Solo was in his 20s in the original Star Wars. This is NOT “young” Han. Young would be teens or earlier.
?!?!?
He’s probably too old, but I like Dule Hill.
Oh come on now there’s only one answer to who should play this: Billy Dee Williams. 😉
Seriously though if we have to do these prequel movies (Sigh…) I’d rather an unknown (or at least mostly unknown).
I’ll pull this one from thin air, but Aldis Hodge would be amazing. Take a look at a few episodes of Leverage, along with Straight Outta Compton (he played MC Ren). At 30, he’s not too old.
Alfred Enoch (Harry Potter, Sherlock, How to Get Away with Murder). Mostly because of dimples!
My links rarely go through so I’ll try an edited one. This one of Enoch looks like Young Lando on an Adventure to me.

I can’t say that I’ve seen him act, but he is freaking adorable!
I’ve got a bad feeling about this…
😉
