In Friday’s post about Stranger Things, Netflix’s 80s horror hit series, some of you mentioned “Justice for Barb,” which was the first time I’d heard of that. Barb played the mousy best friend and was the only young person taken by the monster and actually killed, from what we know. She appeared in just three episodes and her fate seemed unfair, particularly since she was one of the few sensible, non-a-hole teens when the worst of them survived. (Although Steve redeemed himself in the end, I would have liked to have seen his friends bite it.) Apparently there’s still time for that though. While Netflix hasn’t made an announcement about whether Stranger Things will get a second season, given how popular it is, and given Netflix’s history of renewing all of their original shows, it’s widely assumed that this is happening. The show’s creators, brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, tell IGN that they’re aware of the support and love for Barb and want to do right by the character in the second season. There are speculative spoilers for season two of Stranger Things below:

The outlook isn’t good for Barbara. One of the show’s breakout characters, Barb was last seen looking very much dead in the Upside Down. But as the brothers recently paraphrased James Cameron when talking about no one ever really being dead in sci-fi, we asked if she might reappear in Season 2.

“I can’t see it happening” came Matt’s response. “But Barb will not be forgotten. We’ll make sure there’s some justice for Barb. People get very frustrated, understandably, that the town doesn’t seem to be really dealing with Barb. That stuff is all happening. We’re just not spending any screen time on it.

“It’s not like her parents are like ‘Oh Barb left. She died!’ Season One actually takes place over the course of six or seven days – it’s a really short period of time. So part of what we want to do with hypothetical Season 2 is to explore the repercussions of everything that happened.”

It’s a shame that Barb is gone but maybe we’ll get to see her in flashbacks and learn more about her backstory. The interview also reveals the fate of another character you may or may not care about, go here to read. I personally do not care about that character, but he may be necessary for some reason.

Of course everyone is wondering what’s happening with Eleven, who disappeared in a mist of black smoke when she destroyed the monster. As Bustle notes, there’s a substantial clue that Eleven is still around. The write that “One month later, we spot Chief Hopper taking food from the station Christmas party to a small box in the woods. Included in the bundle is a couple of Eggo waffles, which we recognize as Eleven’s favorite.” This suggests of course that Eleven is in the Upside Down, biding her time.

IGN has an interview with Mille Bobby Brown, the 12 year-old British actress who plays Eleven. It sounds like she had a great rapport with the other child actors and with Winona Ryder, which you would expect given how convincingly all the characters were played. I also found an interview with the man who played the monster inside an animatronic suit. He’s really committed to it and described what it’s like inside the loud, 30 pound suit. There’s some CGI used but most of it was him in a suit on stilts.
