Amber Heard & Cara Delevingne tried to hit up a London strip club, got denied

Following last week’s news that Amber Heard is donating the entirety of her $7 million divorce settlement to charity, Amber celebrated the end of her divorce drama on Friday night. Amber was in London, where she’s been for a few months working on Justice League. She had Friday night off, so she met up with Margot Robbie, Margot’s boyfriend Tom Ackerley and Cara Delevingne. They tried to hit up a strip club! But they were thwarted.

Amber Heard celebrated her divorce from Johnny Depp by partying with Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie and the cast of “Suicide Squad” in London over the weekend.

Heard was seen with a group including the actresses and Robbie’s boyfriend Tom Ackerley heading to a Rolling Stones exhibition, then later going for dinner before visiting a strip club, where they were turned away. They instead ended up at London hot spot Chiltern Firehouse.

[From Page Six]

According to the Sun, the strip club is called SophistiCats, which is “London’s Premier Gentlemen’s Club.” When I think “London gentlemen’s club,” I think of stuffy leather chairs and dry martinis, not body glitter and strippers dressed as nurses. But maybe in this case, “gentlemen’s club” is some kind of fancy euphemism for strip club. According to the Sun, Amber and Cara were definitely arguing with the doorman at the club too, with one of them even pulling the “don’t you know who we are?” card. I’m actually glad to see that Amber isn’t hiding away and suffering. After months of putting up with some really awful bulls—t, she’s finally FREE. And she’s having a great time with girlfriends. While I usually could take or leave Cara, I hope she made it her life’s mission to show Amber a great time.

  1. jinni says:

The “do you know who I am?” thing makes all involve seem really pretentious.

    • Goats on the Roof says:

Yeah, I have no patience for anyone who pulls that card.

    • Locke Lamora says:

Cara’s sister oulled that card before, and I kinda have a hunch Cara was the one who said it.

      • mila says:

To be clear, she (Poppy D.) was co-hosting the event. She is a member of British Fashion Council, she was actually one of people in charge. So, yes, its a stupid line, but she was not out of line.

    • Nicole says:

Same. Take that and go somewhere else. Both of y’all aren’t that big to have such egos. I suspect it was Cara tbh

    • Lindsay says:

Usually I think so to but imagining one of them using it to get into a strip club is pretty funny (and hopefully done tongue firmly in cheek.) Why were they not allowed in?

      • Pyritedigger says:

Yeah, exactly. If there is ever a time to pull a “do you know who I am?” it’s at a strip club. I hope Amber is living it up.

      • Karen says:

some [stupid imo] strip clubs wont allow women in.

    • LoveIsBlynd says:

No one is certain they played that card.

      • librakitty says:

@karen A lot of times that’s the case, unless they have a guy with them. It’s supposed to prevent random women from coming in as prostitutes, as well as taking attention away from the girls who are working.

      • C'est la Vie says:

Agreed! The Sun and other tabs are usually (what am I talking about – almost always!) full of bs.

    • Kate says:

There is no seeming pretentious. It just IS pretentious.

    • CoolNewName says:

I will be very careful for a while (if not forever) when reading stories that involve Amber Heard. The PR machines did not stop with the divorce settlement and I am sure there is plenty of bitterness that she is out there laughing and having fun with her girlfriends instead of hiding and looking beat down. So while it is very possible that she or Cara could have pulled the “do you know who I am” card this could have also come from a Depp source as well.

I am very encouraged though to see that she is being embraced by the Suicide Squad actresses and the DC community. It does not seem as though her reputation has been damaged with THEM!

      • C'est la Vie says:

        +1

      • Flamingo says:

I %100 believe that they pulled the “do you know who I am” card.

      • QueenB says:

there is a new article in the DM, they spoke with the owner. Cara pulled the “do you know who I am” card and didnt want to pay the entrance fee. nothing bad about Amber, so this one isnt from Depps team.

  2. Little Darling says:

Good for her for having a few good choice friends who are going to pick her up, take her out and show her a good time. My new massive girl crush on Margot after her playground battle with Will Smith has me thinking Amber will have lots of laughs. Say what you want about Cara, but she definitely seems like a ride hard or die kind of friend, and that’s appreciated now.

    • Locke Lamora says:

What happened with Cara and Rita Ora? She doesn’t seem like a ride or die kind of friend to me.

      • Squiggisbig says:

I actually think Cara and Rita were probably dating and broke up. And Rita certainly does not have the best track record of staying friends with her exes.

      • Little Darling says:

@locke It seems like you might know more about this than I do, but a quick Google search tells me that their friendship had strain when Rita was with Calvin, Cara felt neglected and tossed aside, but they are now back on their way to mending fences according to a July 9 article. Sounds like Rita was a bad friend? I don’t know, I don’t really follow Cara or Rita, but posts here show that Cara is all about her friends, which was my reasoning. Irrationally, I don’t care for Rita.

@squigg I thought that too or that Cara wanted more and then got hurt when Rita got together with Calvin. In the one article I skimmed it said something about Cara being settled with St. Vincent and was able to forgive her.

      • qwerty says:

Is Cara still tight with Jourdan Dunn? They used to be BFFs and even got matching tattoos iirc but I haven’t seen them together in like a year if not more.

Either way, between Rita Ora and Cara I’d definitely bet on Rita being the one most likely to ditch a friend for a high profile relationship, job or whatever. Rita seems THIRSTY.

    • qwerty says:

Anyway, it cracks me up that when news of Depp&Amber divorce first surfaced (before the truth came out) there was gossip in rag mags about how JD was furious about her friendship with Cara as he suspected they were into each other or more. Now that she;s divorced, she goes out to celebrate with Cara of all people lmao. I like her.

  3. Aussieboy says:

Bad reviews for Suicide Squad?…..Less and less opportunities for Press lately?…..no problem. Pounce on the vulnerable Amber when she’s down and Leverage that to get some press (as the options for you dwindle). And then suggest something dumb like “Hey…let’s go to a strip club. It’s the best thing for you dahling”! OMG I’m beyond annoyed with Cara’s thirst.

    • Locke Lamora says:

Cara’s not the only one from Suicide Squad there. Margot was here too.

    • Snarkweek says:

This thirst premise makes the assumption that Cara knew they would be denied entrance to the club and that it would make the news.

  4. Naya says:

Yeah, bi girls and intoxication. I can just imagine how it is being played for DM readers but who cares about them. I love that Margot was there. She is the hottest female actress this summer, being photographed with her signals that Amber is not a complete pariah.

    • Little Darling says:

My main thought too after being shown the DM last week for the first time (my sensitive soul and heart haven’t recovered) and how they REALLY got mad that she was sexually fluid and seemed to blame this on why Bloated Mess decided to abuse her.

      • Wren says:

It’s pretty awful isn’t it? I only go there occasionally but I avoid the comments completely.

But I’m not surprised that people are blaming Amber’s sexuality, being bisexual is, of course, totally foreign and strange and impossible to understand. *eye roll* Honestly though, there might be a bit of truth there. I rather doubt Johnny really understood either and it might have freaked him out and contributed to his massive rage episodes against her. Not Amber’s fault, that’s all on him. The tendency to try and smash what you don’t understand (and subsequently fear) is not uncommon.

    • Kitten says:

YES to all of it, especially your comment about Margot’s presence. I’m glad Amber is out with friends.

  5. jeanpierre says:

I like the picture where they both laugh about something. Cara D. seems like a cool friend to hang out with.

    • Almondjoy says:

      I like that pic too!

    • Erinn says:

      Same.

Honestly, I don’t mind Cara. I’ve listened to a few interviews, and she can be super funny. I can see why some find her off putting, but I think I like her for the most part.

  6. Bettyrose says:

Why did they get turned away?

    • Felice. says:

I believe in the UK, women in general aren’t allowed in.

      • Spiderpig says:

What, strip clubs or members clubs? Strip clubs (at least here in London) mainly do let women in.

Some enthusiastically invite women, since they think it creates a better ambience. But then will throw women out if they think she’s a prossie.

Good lord, what a dodgy comment! I’ve never been to a stripclub myself, I have to point out (except the Box but that doesn’t count), but I know a lot of both strippers and journalists who write about sex work.

    • Miss S says:

Sometimes they are full or they tried to get in really late or sometimes it’s the size of the group or the ratio guys to girls. It’s not rare or something personal. This is really a non story.

  7. Margo S. says:

I love it when celebs get denied at places. Some people don’t give a damn who you are Hahaha.

    • anna says:

it may have more to do with the fact that a gentlemen’s club doesn’t want female guests. at least that’s my experience. and why wouldn’t she refer to the fact that she is rather famous? i would. people are so jealous. let the girls have a good time!

      • jeanpierre says:

I would too. I think everyone would and it’s fair.

      • Kitten says:

Yeah I mean there’s a huge difference between saying “hey, I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of me but I’m an actress/model named Cara Delevingne” and “I’ll have you know that I am CARA DELEVINGNE and I’m a famous model and I can get you fired!” or something along those lines. I personally find nothing wrong with the first approach. When you’re trying to get into a packed club, you pull out every trick you have at your disposal.

      • Bettyrose says:

Anna, I was wondering about that. Gentlemen’s clubs are about male fantasies. They might accept couples, but they’re not about catering to female clientele.

That’s an issue I have with strip clubs in general. They’re very much about male gaze, not about appealing to bi or gay women.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

The word from the street is that strip clubs traditionally do not like groups of women mainly because they are known to not spend much money.

The male fantasy is being Mr. Moneybags surrounded by hot chicks (and male customers get it that their part of the social contract is to tip and buy dances and drinks).

The female fantasy is to “be one of the girls.” Straight women are often afraid to tip the dancers because it feels awkward. They don’t buy dances, because that feels even more awkward. What they really want is for the dancers to sit with them and dish about what it is like to be a dancer, and give them ALL the juicy details…. but it won’t occur to them to pay the dancer for her time because, hey, we’re all just girls in this together, right? They are highly inclined to believe that their very presence is some kind of treat for the dancers. Dancers really hate wasting their time.

I think this dynamic is changing, customers are changing, and female customers are proving that they can throw around money too, and some of the more savvy clubs are getting the picture that not all women are straight (one hopes). management tends to be very old school and unimaginative, though, and this is the main reason that parties of women are often turned away at clubs.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

If clubs had any imagination, they would add a new service to their menu:

A half hour dish session at your table with two dancers of your choice. Cost: $100 + the price of the champagne, salacious backstage gossip and sh*t talk guaranteed. For an additional $50, the girls will also dance at your table. For an additional $20, they will also hook you up with the lady who makes their costumes. Her name is Daniela, and there is a sale in the dressing room every Friday at 5pm.

The dancers would bank, the club would make a good start toward catering to female fantasies for a change, Daniela would totally bank, and it would effectively deliver the message that fantasy is fantasy, and this is a real service.

      • Saras says:

I had heard it was because women were presumed to be prostitutes if not escorted by a man but that is in USA.

  8. Betti says:

I can see cara pulling that famous line. She has previous for doing it and her sister has been known to pull it as well. And we’ll given the recent press Amber doesn’t need to say that.

  9. Hejhej says:

I’m glad she’s having friends around and that she’s smiling again. Reading the comments on the DM though …

  10. Bex says:

She seems to have a good set of friends rallying around her, which I’m very glad about.

I have zero patience for the ‘don’t you know who I am?’ card though, so I’ll raise an eyebrow at whoever played that one.

  11. justme says:

As a woman, I have no problem with a “gentlemen’s” club not allowing women in. Women can have a “women’s” club and not allow men if they want. I realize it’s not the PC way of thinking, but I don’t think men and women all have to be able to do everything and anything. Exclusivity is typically based on something hateful but I don’t see that in this instance.

    • Veronica says:

Both of these women are publicly bisexual, though. It’s not like there are many clubs catering to the lesbian gaze or that strip clubs for homosexuals are all that common.

      • justme says:

This is true but bi, gay, queer (I’m told by a student studying human sexuality that queer is now an acceptable term), whatever are free to open clubs exclusively for themselves.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Strip clubs are rapidly going way out of style. Time to evolve. If they want to stay current and have good business, they will need to figure out how to cater to a changing and bigger population, and the wider spectrum of sexuality.

  12. marc kile says:

am i the only one that finds cara dev. overrated in the looks dept. also the acting one?

  13. silliness says:

I say good for her and good on her friends for showing her a good time. The distraction is good and there’s no reason for her to shut herself off to play into what others believe to be her role as the now-divorced woman grieving the end of her marriage after years of domestic abuse. They’re going to criticize her for it anyway. I’m glad she’s surrounded by people that are good to her right now.

  14. this says:

According to E!. Amber was seen laughing after they were turned away but Cara seemed more frustrated with her hands up in the air and all…ahaha. Maybe Cara had all the guided-tour planned for Amber with this strip club. She and Margot (that look super fun too) seems like the kind of crazy fun friend, just what the doctor recommends to a woman (Amber) coming from a very difficult situation

  15. Spiderpig says:

    Gentlemens Club means stripclub, yes.

I saw Amber in the Royal Court bookshop! She looked good. Good for her.

  16. Rose of Sharon says:

Thank you, Celebitches, for never wavering. Maybe you asked for some clarification or had a few questions, but you were steadfast. You truly are the best.

  17. Me says:

It was Cara according to the owner of the club, who keep telling they were famous and “do you know who i am” and also telling that her friend “Amber just got divorced ” so they needed to go into the club, etc…

Not serious i guess. Many people use their celebrity status and this was for a good cause

    • QueenB says:

oh come on. Amber getting in a strip club or not will hardly affect her life, its not for “a good cause”. it just makes Cara look like a bad person who is full of herself.

  18. CeCe says:

How does Amber know Cara and Margot?

    • duh says:

Amber is currently filming Justice League in London (she plays Aquaman’s love interest), so probably through DC and Warner Bros as the other two are still working hard to promote Suicide Squad after critics panned the movie and Cara’s failed attempt at acting. I guess being seen with Amber give them extra attention these days. They are all overrated and fake anyway, nothing but good looks and blonde locks. Wish they would go away already.

    • this says:

Cara and Amber have been friends for years. I think they maybe met since they both worked in “London Fields” back in 2013

Margot is friend with Cara so i guess it was just a reunion of many friends (because the whole group were like 15 people that night) to celebrate Amber’s divorce or just to cheer her up, because it were also Amber’s assistant and it seems also Amber’s publicist (who’s very close to her) between the gang
