Kim Kardashian will lose $1 million a month by staying undercover post-robbery

Kim Kardashian really has gone quiet following her assault and robbery in Paris one week ago. She flew to New York just hours after she was held at gunpoint, and then days later, she flew back home to LA without Kanye West (but with her children). Sources continue to insist that Kim is traumatized, that she’s blaming herself and that she’s never going to be the same after this. Kim and most of her family have cancelled their engagements and appearances in the wake of the robbery, and E! has suspended filming on Keeping Up with the Kardashians until further notice, although I believe that they’ll probably start filming in a week or two. So what is the “financial hit” for the Kardashians following Kim’s robbery?

In the wake of Kim Kardashian West‘s Paris robbery, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has suspended all commitments indefinitely and stopped posting on social media — decisions that could cost her more than $1 million a month. Kim she has intentionally retreated from the public eye both online and at in-person events. But although her monetary losses may be significant in the short-term, a financial expert tells PEOPLE that she could capitalize in the long-term — if she “positions [her return to social media] correctly.”

Celebrity financial adviser Samuel Rad tells PEOPLE that Kardashian West’s “overall brand is generating at least $1 million a month through just general posts, not including anything that’s specifically being contracted with companies,” which is separate from special event appearances where he estimates she racks in between $200,000 to $300,000. Rad also estimates that her personal, non-ad-related posts “are worth at least $20,000 a piece to her overall brand.”

Despite her potentially “losing about a $1 million a month” through her withdrawal from social media alone, Rad tells PEOPLE that her return to posting could benefit her in the long term: “I think what’s going to happen is the first post she’s going to put up after not having posted for [a while], it’s going to get so many more followers and hits. I think that it might actually end up helping her. Especially if Kim positions [her return to social media] correctly … I think it could be a really big moneymaker for her brand. People are hoping to hear from her,” Rad states, and adds “if Kim positions herself correctly, she can have a real blockbuster media score.”

In addition to her loss of social media earnings, the E! personality appears to be shelling out exponentially more in personal security than she was prior to the intrusion. After husband Kanye West found out about the life-threatening intrusion during his headlining set at Meadows Music & Arts Festival, sources told PEOPLE that the 39-year-old rapper will be increasing the security surrounding his wife.

Security consultant Joseph M. LaSorsa of LaSorsa and Associates tells PEOPLE that Kardashian West is now shelling out 10 times more than what she was before the break-in. “She’s spending 10 times I would say now versus what she was before, easily,” LaSorsa explains of the increased physical protection. “Now she’s going to have full-time residential security and full-time a handful of guys around the clock … It’s going to be around the clock, considering this incident occurred at 3 a.m. in the morning, I’m sure the shock of that vulnerability that they exploited in terms of conducting the theft at 3 a.m. in the morning, they’re not going to let any gap exist now.”

LaSorsa estimates that Kardashian West’s primary bodyguard Pascal Duvier has a base salary of $150,000-$200,000, and the additional security that is being added on would have a starting salary of $80,000-$120,000. He also says that moving forward, she will have “two to four individuals around the clock just assigned to be there in addition to the close, personal protection that she would normally have as well” not including traveling, when she could hire upwards of eight additional security that are assigned to her.

Upon returning home to Los Angeles on Thursday, E! confirmed to PEOPLE that production on KUWTK has been put on hold: “Kim’s well-being is our core focus right now. No decision has been made as to when production will resume.”

[From People]

I was wondering about the cost of all that added security too. I bet Kim and Kaye spend a fortune on security in the coming months, but I don’t know if that will stick long-term. Kim in particular has always liked being opening and accessible with everyone, and I do think that once she recovers from the trauma, she’ll go back to some of that. I also think Kim probably will do a big, splashy interview with one of the magazine shows. Not 60 Minutes, but maybe Dateline or 20/20? I could totally see her sitting down with Diane Sawyer (especially after Sawyer’s interview with Caitlyn Jenner). But I bet Kris Jenner will want Kim to keep it within the NBCUniversal family, so Dateline it is?

Us Weekly has some additional details about the robbery itself and the investigation into the robbery. The robbers were white guys in their 40s and 50s. They ordered the concierge for the location of “the wife of the rapper.” They escaped from the scene of the crime on bicycles. The investigation is ongoing, etc.

The robbers were not after her but after her jewels so this should make her feel a bit better.

Kylie, on the other side, is riding this pony like there was no tomorrow, she is going to make the most out of the fact Kim is now in hiding and get all the attention she can possibly have aka take pics of herself in her cold, empty house while staring at herself in the mirror-

    • V4Real says:

On a superficial note Kim looks like she is morphing into Rachel Roy.

    • Anilehcim says:

LOL I didn’t even think of it like that but you’re right. Kylie immediately posted a picture of her ass in a thong one piece, switched up her hair, which for some odd reason always gets her a ton of attention, and posted a picture of herself in a thong showing off her fake, ridiculous-looking completely round hips. I guess when the most popular sister falls on hard times, little budget Kim/Courtney Stodden Jr. tries to lap up as much attention as she can.

  2. Red3 says:

It comes down to what matters in life.

Kim can keep going down her money making path to get attention and money.

For me I’d rather pull back and enjoy my kids and life.

  3. Michelle_81a says:

Unpopular opinion but I think when something this drastic happens it’s unlikely it’ll happen again also she doesn’t/shouldn’t feel guilty about this. And thank god these people didn’t go any further and abuse her. God bless Kim, hopefully she feel better soon.

    • Blurgh. says:

VERY unpopular opinion, but I too hope she comes back with a vengeance. I am bothered by the idea that her being a victim of violence is her fault and should cause her to alter her life to fit what other people think she be doing. The language of this whole situation is so bothersome, and truly indicates to all women subjected to violence (especially those victim to sexual assult) that they have a responsibly in what happened to them. I know we all have Kardashian issues, but the response to this is just wrong.

      • Anilehcim says:

Isn’t it funny how soft this has made many of us on her? I was pretty much anti everything Kim stood for, but the way the public has reacted to this has completely put me in her corner. I’m rooting for her now.

  4. Nancy says:

She finally at the at age of 36 has to make the decision if the wellbeing of she and her family means more than being a MILF, which she has expressed so many times verbally and in continuous posting of suggestive photographs. Toss that phone Kim, spend time with your children and cut your losses. You’re alive. Now like @paolanqar said above, Kylie can force feed us the exhibitionism that is her life. Note to Khloe: Stay away from Tristan Thompson please….yes you like your basketball players but Cleveland doesn’t want you near our players. Bad enough Teyana Taylor is with Iman Shumpert. We have a title to protect. Thank you.

  5. Annie says:

Meanwhile, Rob and China were flaunting their expensive diamond watches and Kylie, a mink coat on Instagram. Can’t believe they’re being this insensitive towards her. That they don’t care what she went through. No solidarity at all. Everybody is so selfish in that family. This kind of practices obviously played a part in her robbery, and if she feels like things need to change, her siblings should listen to her. It almost felt like they didn’t give a shit. Kylie couldn’t wait to go back on social media, when she was the first to be warned by the police about not using Snapchat anymore. Kim went through all this shit and nobody learned anything. It’s not all on the bodyguards. You play a part in your safety as well.

    • paolanqar says:

Wasn’t Kim taking pics of herself in the car while one of her sisters (Khloe) was going to jail?
I think they are equally self obsessed and shallow, the only difference is that this time Kim was the victim.

    • Anilehcim says:

      So true.

And in regards to Kylie, she is not only showing off her mink coat but also her new hips.. she posted a picture of herself in a thong. She’s treading into Amanda Lepore territory at this point with the amount of work she’s had done. There is a meme floating around where she looks like she’s 45 and fully plastic, and the caption says something about her being one of the clowns on the loose. Kylie often states in interviews about how she hates material things and can’t wait to no longer be famous but out of them all, I think she’s the most materialistic and the most needy for the fame and attention. If not, wouldn’t she have left her face and body alone? Wouldn’t she not post her entire life online? She’s the member of the family with like 14 cars at the tender age of 19, and the Internet blew up when someone noted that she had 7 or 8 $6,000+ Cartier bracelets on her wrist at all times. While I fully believe everyone can spend their money on whatever they want, don’t wear $50,000 on your wrist and then try to tell me you hate material things.

    • swak says:

To me Rob, Chyna and Kylie flaunting their expensive items only makes them look stupid.

    • flybaby says:

I saw the flashig of jewelry AS support. A reply to the comments that she brought it on herself by flashing her ring around.

  6. Dani says:

I know it’s not the popular opinion around here, but I actually like Kim. She’s accessible and relate-able in some ways, and at the end of the day she’s a human being who was put through one of the worst situations anyone could even think of. So yes, at the age of 36, it’s sad that only NOW she has to think realistically about her safety and well being of her family, but then again, shouldn’t we be supporting her as opposed to ha-ha I told you so? I wouldn’t wish on anyone to be robbed/held at gun point, ever, regardless of their occupation or reason for success. I just want to give her a big hug and let her know that it’s not her fault. It sucks that in 2016 we still have to make women feel like everything that happens to them is their doing.

  7. thaliasghost says:

“They escaped from the scene of the crime on bicycles.”

    What?

  8. Lolo86lf says:

Kim Kardashian should come back to social media. She obviously needs to be careful and hire more security. She should not give up her status as the queen of social media because of that incident. It is unnatural not to have Kim showcase her life to the world. I kind of miss her.

  9. Anilehcim says:

I feel like when it comes to talking about the robbery, Kim is damned if she does and damned if she doesn’t. If she doesn’t give an interview or talk about it, the conspiracy theorists will say “she would totally be trying to capitalize on this if it were true!” and if she does give interviews or talk about it, especially on their show, the same group will say “see, I knew it was a lie! she only did it for the press and attention!”

This ordeal made me somewhat of a Kim fan. I don’t know entirely why, but I think the amount of people who were wishing her raped and/or dead had something to do with it.

    • swak says:

Wow, appalled that people were wishing her raped and/or dead. Where were these comments being made as I saw none of those type of comments here on CB? Just curious.

  10. ickythump says:

I read somewhere that the robbery was a set up for the show…

  11. Bobo says:

Maybe she’ll get some more plastic surgery while she’s in hiding…

  12. Amy says:

wait, we feel sorry for her now? I sure as sh!t don’t.

  13. Nikki says:

I DO feel sorry for her, but it did cross my mind that if I knew this would have made her go away, I might have hired the guys myself. Not really of course, but the thought did pop up…Terribly sorry for her trauma, but I never will be a Kardashian fan, yet one can’t escape news of them everywhere.
