Donald Trump sniffed, lied & deplorable’d his way through another debate

wenn29653598

No.

No, we are not going to say that Donald Trump “stopped the bleeding” with his debate performance. No, we are not going to accept “well, ISIS is worse!” as an answer to a question about Trump’s history of sexual harassment and assault. No, we are not going to criticize Hillary Clinton for simply trying to maintain an air of presidential grace through a barrage of Trump’s unhinged lunacy. No. *sniff*

The second presidential debate was last night, a little more than 48 hours after the Washington Post scooped everyone with the Access Hollywood video in which Trump bragged about sexually assaulting women. Republican officials began fleeing the Trump campaign in droves, Mike Pence left Trump to stew in his own pervert juices and I’ve heard the word “p-ssy” like 200 times on CNN at this point. Many believed that Trump no longer had anything to lose. Many believed that he was a wounded animal, looking to lash out at anyone and anything. They were right. *sniff*

Donald Trump went “full Breitbart,” which is to say he peddled the worst fringe conspiracies about Hillary Clinton and he was given a national platform to do so. He hovered around Clinton, physically looming over her. He wouldn’t stop sniffling. He wouldn’t stop interrupting. He wouldn’t stop groping his chair. He wouldn’t stop whining about the time. He threatened to throw Hillary in jail, like America is a banana republic. He wouldn’t answer the questions. At one moment, he was so unhinged that co-moderator Martha Raddatz got utterly frustrated and began debating Trump herself. He blatantly lied and lied about HRC, all the while trying to deflect and excuse his own history of questionable-to-criminal behavior. *sniff*

As I’ve said before, this isn’t Politico so I’m not going to get into the minutia of the debate. But what I watched last night made me sad for Hillary Clinton. She’s so much stronger than me. She’s so much stronger than most of us. If I was in her position, I would have cried out of frustration and anger that I had to share a stage with this lunatic. I guess it’s notable that Trump and Clinton didn’t shake hands at the beginning, although they did shake hands at the end, right after Trump gave Clinton a compliment about being a “fighter.” *sniff*

A few more things… Trump basically I-Don’t-Know-Her’d his running mate Mike Pence last night. Trump was reportedly upset by Pence’s debate performance already, then Pence pretty much took a vacation this weekend and let Trump deal with his own problems. There were rumors flying around last night that Pence wants to leave the ticket. *sniff*

… And one of the most appalling moments in a night full of deplorable moments was when Donald Trump once again lied about being against the Iraq War back in 2003, and then said in reference to Captain Humayun Khan: “Unlike her, who voted for the war…I would not have had people in Iraq because Iraq was a disaster. So he would be alive today.” The Khan family released a statement in reference to Trump: “We know that our son, Captain Humayun Khan, is an American hero. We also know that Donald Trump is not telling the truth when he says he was against the Iraq War. Our son served this country with honor and distinction, and gave the ultimate sacrifice. The only thing that Donald Trump sacrifices is the truth.”

Jesus, America, how did you come to this?

    • SnazzyisAlive says:

We were talking about this at lunch today in the office (all non americans around the table)… I just don’t understand how it got this far?

      • Nicole says:

When the GOP attacks the first minority president over everything before he does one thing in office they emboldened the racist underbelly of the country. Then the tea party came in which is way more conservative right and the pendulum just swung all the way

      • SnazzyisAlive says:

        @nicole: very true indeed.

      • Tate says:

Pretty much what Nicole said. It is sad and scary.

      • Jennifer Jones says:

For me, I started to see a change in the Republican party when the Tea Party emerged so strongly. The Tea Party represented the deplorables that were left in the Republican party, while many other Repubs fled. Now, the deplorables is all that is left for their base. Granted, I know some Republicans who do not support Trump, but the they excuse his antics by telling me “Oh, you just have a different political viewpoint than I do,” I am so tired of hearing that. This has gone way beyond just differing political viewpoints. Last week I read a comment from someone on this site calling themselves Shambles. I actually copied and pasted their remark to my Facebook page. Shambles said, “We’re waaaaay past the point of “I still respect you no matter what your political views are, or “It’s just my opinion.” A vote for Trump = a vote for a sexual predator. And if you’re voting Trump you can go f*ck yourself. The time for niceties has long passed.”

When I posted this to my page I was unfriended by some and threatened to be unfriended by others. Really? It’s ok for people to post pro-Trump biggoted, racist crap (oh, and pictures of aborted fetuses) but it isn’t ok for me to say that I do not stand by this piece of trash?

Let me be clear: Not all of us in the U.S. stand by this orange peel. We are deeply embarrassed that he is on our ticket and I hope people come out in droves to vote for Hillary. However, I know there will be some who will stay home and will not cast their vote because they are convinced Hillary is equivalent to Satan.

      • MsGoblin says:

In a nutshell, what Nicole said.

I’m appalled by the prideful ignorance exhibited by Trump’s followers. They rail against Hillary — She’ll raise taxes! She’ll take away our guns! They are attributing responsibility to an office that does not have the authority to do either! Congress proposes taxation, and only congress can alter the constitution.

I’m so sick of the “I’m just a good ole boy and don’t know nothin'”. Well, MAKE it your responsibility to LEARN! Education expands the mind, allows diversity appreciation AND will get you a better job.

The GOP nomination’s followers are being sheepish in their actions. Trump doesn’t care about them and he won’t do ANYTHING to help them. They are deluding themselves with their willful ignorance.

      • Moe says:

In hard numbers, only a tiny fraction of Americans have actually voted for him. The republican primaries were just too cluttered allowing trump to hoover up lots of votes that were floating around. In my heart if hearts I really don’t think he ever really wanted to be president. I think he was just showboating his own brand and was as surprised as anyone he got the nomination. But now the man HATES to lose (probably worse when it’s to a woman) I understand there are many disaffected people out there and really if Hillary wasn’t soooo disliked by so many folk I think trump would be getting trampled in the polls. I hope to god he doesn’t win and I worry when anybody says he doesn’t stand a chance now (Brexit seemed impossible to me too). I worry about voter apathy and the temptation for some people to ‘send a message’. One thing is for sure, presidential elections may never recovery the civility (as cosmetic as it may have been). Now PUSSY has made it to the national conversation in CNN. Sigh

      • ELX says:

The sad truth is that populist demogogues are always part of any democracy. In the marketplace of ideas someone will always be willing to appeal to the worst in human beings. If we look at just the history of the last century, we know that people are capable of truly horrendous things. America isn’t less vulnerable than other countries– institutions and legal systems are a lot more fragile than we probably want to considering.

      • Esmom says:

I agree with everyone’s comments and I’ll add that I noticed a distinct shift when Sarah Palin came onto the scene. She was given a national platform and proudly spewed hatred and ignorance. I couldn’t believe her attitude in her first debate. It’s like she gave all these people permission to speak their ugly truths and brought public discourse to a new low.

      • Nancy says:

Esmom: I didn’t think it could get worse than Palin and her pig wearing lipstick crap….and now this freak of nature Trump. At least she got her reality show after she was demolished at the polls. Like Hillary quoted Michelle Obama saying “when they go low, we go high.” They’re truly despicable. *thank you Ann Coulter for not attempting to run for office, I couldn’t take it.”

      • Wilma says:

Brexit and Nigel Farage, Marie LePen, Pagida, Geert Wilders, Golden Dawn, Victor Orbán, Radio Maryja, Anders Breivik: this is not some American thing. Populism and xenophobia is rampant in the world. It’s kind of strange that it took the US so long.

      • LinaLamont says:

        @Nicole says:
“When the GOP attacks the first minority president over everything before he does one thing in office they emboldened the racist underbelly of the country. Then the tea party came in which is way more conservative right and the pendulum just swung all the way.”

I agree with you, except, I think it started with their hatred for President Bill Clinton and his wife. The Obamas caused them (the deplorables) to ratchet up the vitriol, racism and vile behavior to a pre-mid-1960s level. Trump rewards them (the deplorables).
        Disgusting.

      • doofus says:

Lina, I agree and have said as much before. when Clinton won, due in part to the “young” vote, it broke a 12-year GOP hold on the WH. the GOP could. NOT. STAND! to lose and that, to me, is when the divide really started to get bad.

      • Cran says:

America didn’t all of a sudden become this way. It has always been this way. Decades of sweeping crap under the carpet have made things worse not better. An infection gets worse not better if left untreated. What I find interesting are the people who persist in maintaining their wonderment at the dismal state of racial and male/female interactions in the face of every piece of evidence to the contrary. THAT state of willful ignorance is sad and what we as a country should be most ashamed of.

      • LinaLamont says:

        @Cran
“Decades of sweeping crap under the carpet have made things worse not better. An infection gets worse not better if left untreated.”

Agree. Although, I don’t believe everyone was consciously or maliciously complicit… maybe, complacent and/or hopeful that we were living in a better place.

The only positive result of this election nightmare would be bringing the infection to the surface and tending to it in concrete ways.

      • Cran says:

@LinaLamont I’m saying complacency=willful ignorance. I mean we as a whole have allowed our collective wound to fester. When I allow what seems an innocent comment or behavior that makes me uncomfortable to slide because I don’t believe it is meant to hurt me the person has no idea if I don’t address it. That person likely is unaware of my discomfort if I stay silent. This is how we end up with terms such as microaggression and people needing safe spaces. We create a need for this phraseology because we don’t nip it in the bud. We have the ability to prevent a tumor from becoming malignant. Our country is where it is now because too few times have we taken the opportunity to become aware. We have done ourselves no favor. We CAN be better.

      • Sarah says:

I am 54. About 20 years ago, I was listening to Rush Limbaugh (oppo-research) and he repeatedly called the Democrats “the enemy.” It was probably the first time I heard that kind of talk. This predates the Tea Party by 15 years. Most Americans just weren’t paying attention.

      • Me Three says:

Agree with everyone’s comments, especially @Sarah’s. During Reagan’s last term in office, the Fairness Doctrine was revoked which led to talk radio. I really think right wing talk radio is ruining this country. From Rush Limbaugh to the local idiots who pollute our airwaves 24/7 with Fox doing the same thing on TV, it’s a constant attack on anyone who doesn’t believe their right wing sexism, bigotry and racism. There are “liberal” talkers but they are few and far between. I would bet that most of the women who say they’re Trump supporters also watch Fox and listen to talk radio. It’s pervasive in this country. Talk radio gave us the Tea Party and Trump. I’m convinced.

    • Janetdr says:

I see 2 main factors 1. 24 hour fake news. 2. When the Koch brothers co-opted the tea party movement.
And the media just kept acting like there were 2 valid points of view. It’s terrifying.

      • Dolphin7 says:

Yes!!! I so agree. The Republican Party has been taken over by the Tea Party and the Evangelicals. It’s gone from I don’t want to pay more taxes and let’s be fiscally conservative to a party of racism, sexism, bigotry, anti LGBT, and hatred. This country is doing so much better under President Obama but some people just can’t give him the credit he deserves. I am afraid to read fb these days because I can’t stand reading what people I used to like are writing.

      • virginfangirl says:

        agree

      • MC2 says:

And the Koch brothers didn’t even sign on to this freak show.

      • Janet R says:

MC2 – right?! It got too crazy for them but I do think they had a lot to do with playing to that base to begin with the last time around with validating the racism, etc. As soon as they get to the lowest common denominator – boom – down we go again.

      • Jessica says:

I worked as a staffer for three Republicans on Capitol Hill. I am very moderate and pragmatic. I left after the Tea Party, and it just gets worse.

      • Sarah says:

As I just said above, this started way before the Koch brothers – it started with Rush Limbaugh about 20 years ago when he called the Dems “the enemy.” It was unusual talk, and it stunned me. That was the start.

    • Kitten says:

      It hasn’t come to anything…YET.

I heard the best analogy on NPR this morning about what last night’s debate did for Trump’s campaign: “The plane is still going down, but at least now the coffee maker’s fixed.

Trump had an awful week with the release of that video and after hemorrhaging supporters even in his own party, the debate was just a small tourniquet.
In order to make a big difference for his campaign, Trump would have had to lure undecided voters, which he did not attempt to do. As it stands now, Clinton is still favored. I’m kind of scared typing this (because JINX) but last night’s debate confirmed that this guy has absolutely no fucking idea what he’s talking about.

Because repeating “disaster” “ISIS” and “very, very bad” over and over again isn’t actual POLICY. I know that his supporters don’t understand that, but many undecided voters do.

      • Megan says:

And Pence’s job is to serve the coffee.

      • Lahdidahbaby says:

Great post, Kitten. I hope like hell you’re right.

      • Timbuktu says:

Kitten, I wish I could agree with you, but if people in that town hall yesterday were truly undecideds, we’re screwed. He sure seemed to win THEM over.

      • Sarah says:

As an English teacher, I paid attention to his rhetorical strategy.

Question asked, whine about last question, unbelievable, disaster, terrible, sniff, moderator tries to wrangle him back to the question, I have a plan, sniff, unbelievable, amazing, no details, and Hillary is terrible, sniff, Special Prosecutor, sniff, Bill Clinton, terrible, I’m unbelievable, best you’ll ever see.

Quite interesting. Either severe untreated ADD or a coke habit.

      • supposedtobeworking says:

and ‘bigly’. I can’t remember what was ‘bigly’, but it stuck out.
@Timbuktu,according to CNNs follow-up, he didn’t win a single person over from that group of undecided voters. They thought he did better than expected, but no one is going to vote for him as a result of the debate.

    • zinjojo says:

For many of us, we’re trapped in a waking nightmare right now. In 2004 I couldn’t believe that George W. Bush won reelection — those days seem downright quaint in comparison to what’s happening now. There’s a whole lot of this country that revels in their ignorance and bigotry — my family is insanely religious evangelical Christians (in Texas, of course) and while they don’t exactly “support” Trump, they’re voting for him because in my mom’s words “they’re both bad”. This false equivalency is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, and I’ve heard plenty of really stupid things from my family over the years. It’s become a breaking point for me personally, and the next month is a version of hell.

      • SusanneToo says:

I couldn’t believe he beat Ann Richards.

      • Lahdidahbaby says:

YES, Zinjojo! I’m so damned sick of hearing “They’re BOTH bad.” That’s such a cowardly and despicable cop-out! And the worst part of it is that this is NOT an uncommon sentiment! I hear it all the fucking time! It’s like comparing a person with bad manners to a mugger! Where is the disconnect that allows otherwise seemingly sane people to promote this absurd false equivalency!?! (ETA: I have never in my life used so many exclamation points as I just realized I used in this one paragraph. I try not to use them at all. Ever. This is what Donald Fucking Trump has done to me. Punctuation Police, please come for me now. Take me away.)

The people I know who have said this (“They’re BOTH bad!”) are people who put their political party before ethics, morals, integrity, or basic common decency. They are, very simply, trying to justify voting for a racist, sexist, bigoted, sleazy, xenophobic, greedy despot — all for the sake of their PARTY. They are, very simply, putting party before country.

    • SusanneToo says:

It started with Goldwater and has been a downward descent ever since.

      • I couldn’t believe that he beat Ann Richards either. It was just mind boggling. Then one inexplicable victory after another. in 2000 the fix was in. Then 2004 he was re-elected after his disastrous leadership. Remember him standing on the aircraft carrier claiming victory? Sometimes I think these people are willing to sacrifice their own livelihood for allegiance to the GOP. Its as if they’ve forgotten the 2008 housing crisis and the high cost of gas and the shambles the economy was in. I guess they’d have to forget 2008 so they can “blame” Obama for this economy. An economy that is thriving, yet they claim its tanking. Their delusion and craziness is just inexplicable.

      • Christin says:

I read an opinion piece today that compares this election to 1964. It will be historic and referenced for at least 50 years, as the GOP attempts to rebuild.

      • lightpurple says:

Well, if we must invoke 1964, Hillary should remake this ad, just changing the names at the end.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDTBnsqxZ3k

    • adastraperaspera says:

A large part of the answer to why this is happening in the U.S. can be found in Susan Faludi’s 1991 book called “Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women.”

Patriarchal traditions and tribalism are trying to reassert themselves, as equality and pluralism rise in society.

      • AngelaH says:

Yep. I read that book in my women’s studies course in college. I didn’t really get it back then, but I sure see it now.

      • Adele Dazeem says:

Agree. This is angry white men trying to regain their dominance.

Carly Simon rewrote her lyrics to “You’re so Vain” making Trump the topic of this song.
You can hear the humorous campaign song with the link below 🙂 You’re so vain
“You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht.
Your hat strategically dipped below one eye.
      Your face was apricot.
You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte
And all the girls dreamed that they’d be your partner.
You’re so vain, you probably think this song is about you.
You’re so vain I’ll bet you think this song is about you”. – Carly Simon

Mary-Chapin Carpenter changed the lyrics of I’ll Take My Chances as well. Can’t remember the new wording but it included the line “because a demagogue is a dangerous thing.”

      • Liz Simpson says:

And Barbara Streisand has changed her lyrics to Send in the Clowns, performed it last week and although it’s hilarious it’s also so frightening!

    • Melbelle says:

I live in Missouri, a state that is undoubtedly going to go to Trump and it’s mind boggling to me that many people I know are going to vote for this man – even my own family members. What I find when I ask them about their reasons for supporting Trump is that they really have no idea what he stands for, or even what THEY stand for themselves. They just dislike “liberals” “because taxes” and “they’re going to take away our guns” (even though MO just passed the most ridiculous pro-gun legislation I’ve ever seen) and quite a few of them have racist ideas, but they don’t think they’re racist because to be a racist you have to be in the KKK or something. Literally ALL you have to do to win an election here is to not be a “dirty liberal.”

Locke Lamora: Some milestone summary on how America got to where it is now.

America has not been the same since November 22, 1963, when JFK was assassinated. The country began to change and has not been the same since.

JFK, RFK, Martin Luther King were all leaders, who provided hope for our country to progress in peace. All three Democrats died by assassination.

      LBJ – Vietnam war.

The big change to our country: Ronald Reagan and the union busting 13,000 Air Traffic controller’s strike. which undermined labor unions. It also polarized our politics in ways that prevent us from addressing the root of our economic troubles: the continuing stagnation of incomes despite rising corporate profits and worker productivity

George Bush, Jr. lost the popular vote and still managed to become president amid controversy. . Invaded Iraq without Congressional Declaration of war. Destabilized Iraq and contributed to destabilizing the Middle East. Iraqi’s are worse off today than the were under the dictatorship of Hussein. National security adviser, Condolezza Rice, said publicly in 2012 she did “take personal responsibility” for the casualties and the wreckage.

The radicalized Republican right wing party turned to vicious personal attacks on Obama, not only on his health care plan, but also on whether he was really an American. Right wing extremist’s rising radicals both, peaceful and violent, are also tearing their party apart from within through disunity, while they try to destroy the reputation of any Democrat who runs for office. That in a nutshell is how we got to where we are now.

  2. Just me says:

I couldn’t help but think that Alec Baldwin nailed it when he, as Trump, said “When I stop talking, my mouth looks like a tiny butthole.” Saw that face numerous times last night!
As for the Khan family, their statement shows much grace and restraint for having Trump use their son as a pawn and to actually have the audacity to claim that he’d still be alive- ugh! So, so many things Trump said and did last night were deplorable, but that one really upset me.

  3. minx says:

    • Jag says:

Honestly, I’m worried that he will win.

So many of my friends are saying that they’re voting for Jill Stein, so that will pull votes away from Clinton.

And so many of my Facebook friends still support Trump, even though they’re women. It’s not a sure thing that Trump will lose.

      • Leesa says:

Exactly. I hope there is no complacency about this and everyone will get out and vote!

      • Soror Bro says:

If I lived in America i’d vote for Jill Stein too. It’s a shame she’s not in the debates. She’s fantastic.

      • Ellie says:

I agree with you, but I’m hopeful he’s really done it this time because she’s ahead in the polls by a landslide since his p-ssy comments: http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/

      • JackieJormpJomp says:

        @Sorer: A fantastic anti-vaxxer? Really?
Anyway splitting the vote is a selfish, destructive move.

      • Little Darling says:

@sorer; I do not think Jill Stein is fantastic, she’s an anti-vaxxer fanatic.

No thank you. I live in Cali. I saw the outbreak happen in Disney. No thank YOU.

Also, voting for a bottom ticket does nothing to keep Trump Out!

      • Nicole says:

Jill Stein is an anti-vax idiot. No thanks. Johnson can’t point out countries/cities that are major hot button topics on a map.
And all that does is split the vote and not on the GOP side

      • lightpurple says:

        @SororBro,

Sorry, but I actually know Jill Stein. She is a very nice woman but sorry, no, she is not fantastic on all the issues. Jill has run for the presidency before. Jill has also run for governor of Massachusetts twice in 2002 and 2010, the House of Representatives in 2004, Secretary of the Commonwealth in 2006 (this one was jut her and the incumbent and she pulled only 18% of the vote). She did manage to get elected to the Lexington Town Meeting twice. Jill can’t win even a statewide election in very liberal Massachusetts.

      • doofus says:

echoing the others…Jill Stein is NOT “fantastic”.

she is a physician who is an anti-vaxxer and that is dangerous. and she’s got other questionable medical stances, too, from what I understand.

      • Jennifer Jones says:

For my vote, I’m not going to let Jill Stein do a Ralph Nader. This is too important. When people voted for Brexit they wanted to vote their conscious to get their point across. We see how well that turned out.

      • BabyJane says:

Both of your articles, Little Darling, confirm that she is not “anti-vax.” Stein questions the deeply rooted relationship between the FDA, big pharma, and bank accounts. That relationship is indisputable. Stein wants vaccines to undergo the same scrutiny that hand lotion does, and without the influence of pharmaceutical lobbyists. She is not anti-vaccines and has reiterated that point several times over.

Referring to out-of-context quotes that Stein later directly dispelled is NO BETTER than, say, reading an article laden with forged data that suggests autism is caused by vaccines then IGNORING the subsequent retraction. She has cleared up this misconception several times and, justifiably, wants to eliminate the profit motive from the vaccine industry. I would think that the same people rightfully lamenting the insane increase in the cost of EpiPens a few weeks ago would sympathize with this perspective, not seek to discredit it.

      • Soror Bro says:

Stein has actually denied being anti-vacanation. As for the vote splitting thing favouring Trump, wouldn”t votes for Gary Johnson take away votes for Clinton? Also the assumption that Stein is taking away votes for Clinton suggests that Clinton has a right to them. She doesn’t. She has to earn them and in the minds of many Green voters she hasn’t. I prefer the Greens because they’re anti-war, pro-action on climate change and aren’t in the pockets of the top 1%.

      • Soror Bro says:

^Edit: I meant to say wouldn’t votes for Johnson take votes away from Trump.

      • Melly M says:

Anyone who says something risible like they want “vaccines to undergo the same scrutiny that hand lotion does” has less than no idea at all what a marketing authorization application to the FDA with its 5 modules full of data must look like.
Jill Stein just hopes that people fall for buzz words like “big pharma”, “lobbyists” etc.

      • While she isn’t against vaccination, she doesn’t seem to have a clear understanding that scientific research has nothing to do with the big pharma. I agree with Melly that Jill definitely used anti vax rhetoric to further her platform. It’s also dangerous to confuse the iron clad research with words like pharma.

      • Veronica says:

Stein isn’t outwardly anti-vaccines, but I sideeye her for picking that battle in particular with Big Pharma given the controversy over them in the last decade or so, which makes it a selling point. Vaccines undergo all the same checks as regular drugs if they are newly patented, and frankly, there’s a lot of other problems with the pharmaceutical industry (try looking up the BS surrounding psych meds if you really want to go down a rabbit hole) that makes me very cynical in regards to why she picked that particular battle.

      • BabyJane says:

Melly, you seem to operate under the same MO, as you hope your baseless insults, irrelevant to the actual discussion, will distract readers from the point at hand which is TO CALL STEIN ANTI-VAX IS SIMPLY FALLACIOUS.

      • MC2 says:

I am coming in here late but please research the one & only company that supplies vaccinations- Merck. You can be anti-vax company without being anti-vax. One company decides how ALL our children get vaccinated and there is no other choice and that needs to change. One company puts the MMR together when you could do single doses which is better for children with sensitivities or compromised immune systems because…..they can! It’s like the damn epi pen. We are blaming parents, researchers & others when we should be looking at the companies. Many people didn’t trust what was PUT IN the vaccinations, because the company sucks balls & lied, not the vacancies themselves. And then it was spun on the media to just be anti-vaxers and Merck never changed.

Merck sucks & it feels really, really sh7tty as a parent to put that stuff into your kids body after you research the company (trying to find single does vaccines for a sensitive baby). The doctors that wanted to save lives with the polio vaccine- I trust them but Merck who doesn’t care about kids but only profit and is the only player- nope, I don’t trust them. I give my kids vaccines & I feel terrible about it every single time.

  4. Nicole says:

Such a mess. That’s all I got. Watched with a bottle of wine and it was awful. Such an embarrassing time for the US.

    • Little Darling says:

Beyond embarrassing. I think about that a lot. How embarrassing it is to have these headlines about his filthy mouth and the hate and misinformation he spews. If we weren’t already thought of as American trash, he’s solidified that reputation in spades.

    • Kitten says:

I’m actually more embarrassed by the fact that so many Americans AREN’T embarrassed.

      • Little Darling says:

I know Kitten. I deleted a chick from Facebook last night when she posted about that 50 shades meme.

“”Oh please LD…come on. who gives a rats ass…there are more important issues then this bull shit…”

A real woman’s response to me when I commented on that 50 shades meme and said “I’m fairly certain the rage isn’t about the word pussy, I’m pretty sure the rage is more about the sexually predatory nature the comment evokes.”

She’s the PERFECT cross section of religious zealot, ignorance and blind support.

Of course when I respectfully said “I do care, actually. And I heard Hillary speak about the issues beautifully. I still can’t glean anything decipherable from Trumps debate.” her response was to shut the conversation down. Which to me is the equivalent of stomping away.

When people can’t maturely defend their posts or thoughts or viewpoints I have to laugh and wonder.

But she is a PRIME example of his followers.

      • lightpurple says:

@LittleDarling, actually, this IS an issue that goes directly to the President’s job just as much as ISIS does. The President runs the EEOC, which investigates and adjudicates claims of sexual harassment and gender discrimination (also discrimination based on race, age and disability) in the workplace. So, you can counter her with that. Does she want a sexual predator determining whether or not she was sexually harassed or discriminated against in her workplace?

      • Kitten says:

@LD Sigh. Just once I want to see a Trump supporter who possesses some semblance of critical thinking, someone who is actually able to articulate in a cogent way what Trump has to offer as POTUS.
That FSOG meme is so insulting and ridiculous beyond belief..

If you recall on an earlier post I talked about an FB “friend” (guy I went to high school with) who posted this really gross and misogynistic comment about Kim Kardashian, basically slut-shaming her, saying she deserved to get robbed and then mansplaining to us womenfolk that we are “beautiful and intelligent and you don’t need to get naked to prove that. In fact, it proves the opposite.”
        That’s a direct quote. I can’t forget it because it’s just so f*cking patronizing.

Anyway, no surprise that last night he was blowing up FB with memorable and intelligent commentary such as “Anderson Cooper do your job bitch” and “lying bitch”.

        Sigh.

But what’s interesting to me is that I only knew him peripherally in HS, like he was one of the douchey jocks in a grade or two ahead of me. I never actually hung out with him or even talked to him, but I was always aware that he was a dick. As an adult, I now recognize that what I was registering as “douchey behavior” was actually just straight-up misogyny.

So yeah, he was deleted RIGHT quick last night.

      • doofus says:

that stupid 50 shades meme is SO DUMB.

all you have to do is answer with…

        …”the difference is CONSENT.”

and feel free to add “if you don’t get that distinction, then you’re a rapist too.”

      • Little Darling says:

@kitten I totally remember that guy. It’s amazing what this election is uncovering about the people we knew or know. This chick was actually my dads MUCH younger girlfriend for many many years when I was 12-16 age. I remember thinking she was soooo Cool because she was like, 14 years older than me or something like that. I lived with them for the summer and actually had a lot of love for her. That is until I got to know her again as an adult. I was like damn girl how did you hide this for so long? Or did age poison her?? So it was doubly offensive that was her FIRST combative and aggressively rude response to me, but hey politics will do that. I proceeded to post two more things, one about us both being mothers to sons and teaching them words aren’t just words, and another one that @light purple and @doofus wrote about being surprised at her reaction and this is an incredibly important issue.

It literally makes my head and heart hurt simultaneously.

      • Kitten says:

@LD-It’s so depressing that these people don’t respond to rational, cogent arguments. It’s like talking to a damn wall.

      • Little Darling says:

@kitten Exactly. The aboutface that occurs is too fast to even have a decent conversation about it. to even have a decent conversation about it it’s so quickly turns to Hillary is a crook her husband cheated she lies!!

I find their arguments so repetitive as well, completely unoriginal. Unfounded.

    • Annie says:

I even surprised myself last night at how angry I got when Trump trotted out, pre-debate, the Bill Clinton accusers. He is turning this country into a trashy reality show and I was livid. Can you imagine four years with this orange freak? He is disgusting and thinks nothing about this country or the American people. I DO NOT want to be in a trashy reality show for the next four years. Despicable. He is completely despicable.

      • Rachel says:

And where does someone who cheated on his first wife with his second wife, his second wife with his third wife, and has probably had scores of mistresses who can’t come forward because of NDAs get off trotting out women who claim to have had affairs with the other candidate’s spouse? She didn’t cheat. The fact that her husband has a roving eye says absolutely nothing about her ability to govern the country. And how is parading them around in any way reflective of his ability to govern this country? And why do people let him get away with this hypocrisy? I just can’t anymore.

      • Christin says:

Yet he says and does so much else, that one awful thing is washed away within an hour or two, by the next ‘gasp’ moment.

It is a shame that children who might have wanted a chance to see civics in action, had to be exposed to a shameful reality show instead of a thoughtful, civil debate.

      • Melanie says:

And…look up the comments Trump made in 1998 about Bill CLinton’s accusers. He said they weren’t pretty enough, that they weren’t victims, etc. But last night those same women allowed Trump to use them as props. The whole thing was one of the most vulgar displays I’ve ever seen.

    • Sarah says:

I wonder how much Trump paid those women who claimed Clinton assulayed them to show up??? I guarantee money changed hands.

  5. Zapp Brannigan says:

From my little corner in Ireland I am genuinely scared for the American people, he is a monster stirring up the worst in humanity, his platform seems to be to get people angry through blow hard rhetoric, but then what?

    • greenmonster says:

You said it perfectly: “he is a monster stirring up the worst in humanity, his platform seems to be to get people angry through blow hard rhetoric”. That won’t change even if Hillary wins the election.
I’m afraid what people will say and do when Trump loses. He has been digging up and dragging out so much hate – that is not just going to disappear. Trump will probaly call ‘election fraud’ and stir the hate some more.

      • Tate says:

I am scared about what could happen at polling places. Trump has already encouraged his supporters to go to polling places and basically police the places. Let’s face it, some of his supporters are real lunatics.

    • Guesto says:

Yep, regardless of whether he wins or not, the damage has been done and the poisonous stench of what he unleashed will remain. Can’t put that particular genie back in the bottle.

He should never have been allowed to stand.

    • Janetdr says:

So when she wins, all the angry people will still be angry, like, forever. I consider myself to be a peaceful person but as I drive home through a barrage of yard signs, not just for Trump, but Jail Hillary, Obama hates America, etc, I sometimes wish I could shoot those signs up. And this is why I have no signs supporting my candidate in my lawn…. here in a always blue state.

    • Lurker says:

@Zapp, same. You know, I’m far enough away that for a while I sat back and watched the nominations process a little bit amused, a little bit smug – I said to lots of people at the time, that that period of time was what the Republican Party deserved; all their hateful wee chickens were coming home to roost, and doesn’t it serve them right, etc.

I’m less amused these days, let me tell you. Although I still have hope that America will make the right decision in a month, and the GOP will take a long look at the effect that they are having on their country and make some changes, stat. I’m an optimist, I guess.

(I’m sorry for being smug. Irish politicians are The Worst, so I have nothing to be smug about, really)

      • SilverUnicorn says:

        @Lurker
I’m sorry but about ‘the worst politicians’, England is actually paving the way at the moment. Get in the queue behind us, thanks 😀

      • annetommy says:

Yeah, I’ve lived in both places, the English at the moment are worse. At least in Ireland there is proportional representation, which is fairer. The Scots lot are pretty good.

    • Dolphin7 says:

You are so right!!! He has turned this into a reality show. That was beyond trashy bringing those women out. I saw an interview from 1999 of Trump defending Clinton and saying he shouldn’t have been prosecuted. He is all over the board on every issue. No one knows what he could be capable of doing if God forbid he’s actually elected. I admired how composed Hillary stayed. I can’t wait for this to be over. But I’m afraid he’s done some deep damage to this country.

      • Little Darling says:

It was classless, low brow, poor judgement, malicious intent, scare tactics.

I don’t think it worked though. I mean it worked GREAT at showing the world the bottom of the gutter of America.

      • Liz Simpson says:

This is comnent from a welsh friend of mine on Facebook today and wraps up Donal very nicely

I REALLY can’t get my head around WHY he’s got as far as this, I think people have been brainwashed by “key” words that he throws out in his put downs…I haven’t heard ANY of his policies, not sure he really has (wants) any, to be honest. My take on him is this…he doesn’t SEE himself as a Loser, everything is a checklist to him, if he takes it on, he HAS to win AT ALL COSTS, no matter who he steps on or over, who he bullies or pushes out, his ONLY goal is to win & THAT is what he will take pride in, he’s not interested in the work of a President, he just wants the title & the extra “privilege” that will afford him, he’s a businessman at heart (& allegedly quite a corrupt one) he will tackle the business side of the American economy but again, to his advantage, not the people of America…just so he can claim the accolade of better numbers, it won’t matter to him how he did it, he’ll just tell you to “look at the numbers, people” “the numbers speak for themselves” …I really fear for the immediate future of America & what this means for other countries too 😔

    • Sarah says:

      @ Zapp Brannigan
I have said many times that I am proud to be a Canadian. But during this election, I can also say that I am relieved to be a Canadian (not American). I love the US and grew up near the border (NY). But I’m not sure how I would handle all of this BS, this mockery of the democratic process if I were inside of it. Even from where I stand, I am so angry and frustrated at how Trump and his followers have dragged this election down into the gutter. It is embarassing to watch. I have not been a huge Hilary Clinton fan before but in the last month, she has conducted herself with such composure that I am impressed. I would vote for her if I could.

  6. Jane says:

The whole “sniff” debate made me utterly “sniff” sick to my stomach and I am sad thinking “sniff” about what the world thinks of the candidates now “sniff”.

I feel sorry for Hillary having to put up with that creature who shared the stage with her. He’s simply not human. This is the second time he was sniffing profusely.

I had some ideas about what it could explain Trump’s behavior. It would give me great pleasure to see a video or picture of Trump taking a certain somethin-somethin to prove what I believe he could have been on last night. More trouble for him.

    • LinaLamont says:

“He inhaled so sharply through his nose that he sounded like he was snorting his own insults.”
      – Richard Wolffe at The Guardian

(I think, today, all my posts about the debate will be quotes) 🙂

    • Kitten says:

It must have been painful for he to be forced to debate with such a moron.

      SNIFF!

    • B n A fn says:

Remember he said he was not sniffing. I guess he wants us to believe the sniffing is all in our imagination.

    • SusanneToo says:

      SNIFF, SNIFF!

    • Agapanthus says:

Take heart in the fact that the sniffing, narcissistic psychopath WILL dig his own grave eventually because he really cannot help himself. I am just hoping it is sooner rather than later, so the least damage possible will be done. I am so scared for you America!

  7. Nancy says:

He is beyond an embarrassment to our country. He stalked Hillary on the stage like an animal waiting to pounce on a kill. Her strength and restraint amazed me. He is full of hate and arrogance and has a lack of respect for any human being on earth aside from himself. I can’t wait for this to be over. Never before has a candidate’s own party leaders run away from their candidate in droves. Hope the media plays his words from 1999 when he called Bill Clinton and Hillary victims and how he lampooned the very women he brought in the hall last night. He is despicable.

    • Kitten says:

Right? I’m so glad I’ve been watching the debates because I’ve gained so much respect for that woman, watching how she handles herself in the presence of a raving lunatic.

    • Tate says:

I started as a Benrie supporter. Then I was a “ok fine” supporter of Hillary because the alternative was unacceptable. I am now an enthusiastic supporter of Hillary Clinton. She is unbelievably strong and ready to be President. If she can handle this rage monster, she can handle anything.

      • Kitten says:

        Me too exactly.

      • Faithmobile says:

I started out Very anti-Hillary, and have grown quite fond of her over this election, I will always have a soft spot for Bernie but nothing would give me more pleasure than seeing a woman take down that sexist orange bozo.

      • Christin says:

I actually partially bought into the long-term accusations against her, until I did my own fact-checking. She’s been a punching bag for years. I don’t know how she keeps her composure against such garbage.

      • Sarah says:

Me, too. And as a woman, I was highly offended by his stalking her, his continually calling her “she” and “her,” his pointing at her and wagging his finger at her, and then the jail line. I was ill.

I’ve watched politics intensely for the past 20 years and I’ve never, ever seen anything like last night and how Hillary was treated.

  8. Rice says:

I might be wrong but Drumpf’s entire campaign is based on every single logical fallacy in existence.
    Appeal to force – check
    Genetics – check
    Personal attack – double check
Argument to the people – triple check
    Appeal to tradition – check
You get the picture. I may not be American so I can’t vote in the US election. But I’m pleading with those who can to make sure that this loud-mouthed, racist, misogynistic, flip-flopping, lying liar become the next POTUS. Don’t bitch, VOTE!!!

    • Kitten says:

Eh. I’m gonna both bitch and vote. You don’t live here so it’s likely hard for you to fully grasp how frustrating it is to watch your fellow country man get lured in by a con artist.

Venting is cathartic and having a place like C/B to complain about something we cannot control has been a lifesaver for many of us.

      • virginfangirl says:

And how about the loss of respect for friends or family that support him. It’s truly difficult for me to remain friends with a Trump supporter as it seems our personal morals are so different that I can’t help look at people that I once loved with complete disgust.

      • Kitten says:

Yep. I’m done being even casual friends with anyone who votes for this guy. Because you don’t get to vote for a racist, xenophobic misogynist and then claim that you’re not one too. No more free passes.

      • Sarah says:

Vote for all of us, Kitten. Kick ass!

  9. Rice says:

And another thing. (Nigel) Farage the Barage is one of Drumpf’s advisers! 0.0
Two revolting, mushy shite peas in a pod.

  10. Little Darling says:

Said it last night and I’ll say it again.

We watched the 2016 Presidential DEFLECTION.

  11. G says:

I had to turn the debate off because of all the sniffling.
I am voting absentee as soon as my ballot arrives. I have started making informative facebook posts of how to vote early or absentee, how to register to vote, etc. I think, especially after this debate, that it’s important to give resources so people will vote in some fashion. My generation isn’t voting like they need to, but if they are told they can vote early, maybe we can get our numbers up? All votes are needed in an election like this.

  12. Soror Bro says:

These debates are so subjective. I just came from another site where people are saying Trump mopped the floor with her.

    • crtb says:

People will see and hear what they want to see and hear. If you are still undecided after this last year, then I think you have no intention to vote

    • Betsy says:

I’m curious what site that is. Because lying and bullying is not the same thing as winning.

      • Soror Bro says:

        A progressive site called Truthdig.

      • Lucrezia says:

Truthdig is definitely progressive, but is more open to the radical left and libertarian views than mainstream liberal sites. So yeah, I can see why some of their commentators would give the debate to Trump over Hillary. If your core political beliefs are best summed up by the word “anti-establishment”, then you’d vote for the wildcard freak over the career politician. Everything Hillary did in the debate that was “professional”, or “Presidential” would count against her.

I disagree, but I understand their reasoning.

  13. alexis says:

Hillary is the most vile, corrupt candidate I’ve ever seen and all anyone here can focus on is herr derr he SNIFFLED! Tee he!!

Oh wait, she’s a female and this is a predominantly feminist website.

Hill is a warmonger. Does no one care about that? She LIED about the emails too! Oh wait, who cares. Cuz ya know, sniffles.

    • Bridget says:

It’s nice to see another logical, well thought out Trump argument. Oh wait.

At this point, everything you said has been so thoroughly debunked by so many sources that the only way you can actually hold that opinion is just because you want to. Feeling something is right isn’t nearly the same thing as it being factually correct.

      • alexc says:

I hate Trump but Hillary IS a pro-war hawk, no question. This circus between a straight up sociopathic nut job and a professional politician of the .01% is a shit storm that perfectly distracts from the serious issues of income eqaulity, the US’s obscene foreign policy, lack of movement on global warming, etc. It’s all about identity politics and mud slinging. The locked down 2 party system means there is never any real chance for change at the top. What a joke our political system has become.

      • Bridget says:

I find it funny how quickly people forget that EVERYONE was pro-war in 2003. All of those politicians that voted for the Iraq action were carrying out the will of the overwhelming majority of the American people – which is kind of the job of our elected officials.

And complaining that the system is broken is a total cop out. It’s not broken, it’s that we the American people are failing at it. People don’t turn out to vote, or bother to inform themselves on issues, and check out aside from every 4 years. We have obstructionist morons in Congress because WE elected them.

      • hmmm says:

        @alexc

Still mourning Bernie, huh? A course in problem solving and civics might help. Grow your third party from grassroots instead of lashing out irrationally.

    • JackieJormpJomp says:

Also his claims to commit sexual assault. Also those.

    • Little Darling says:

      So you don’t remember Nixon?

    • LinaLamont says:

:… we chose to confront the possibility of a historic moment for women with a candidate whose misogyny is so mythic he could have sprung fully-formed from Freud’s skull. Trump is more symbol than person at this point, representing just how juvenile and ridiculous America is when it comes to the way we think about women and leadership…”
      Jessica Valenti at The Guardian

“…But Trump’s disgusting comments are also a reminder that massive double-standards in how men and women are treated in and by the media are important context for the story…”
      Christian Christensen at Common Dreams

Plus the fact that Clinton’s qualified, had never been convicted of anything and Trump’s a lying, cheating, tax-dodging molester.

    • Kitten says:

Blah blah blah emails lying Benghazi blah blah blah.

      That’s the best you got?

Wanna talk about Trump and his complete and utter lack of political policy?
      SNIFF!

I voted for Sanders in the primary too but good god some of you Berniacs really need to do your research.

    • G says:

The only reason Trump hasn’t voted to take us to war is because he has no political experience and therefore couldn’t.
Also if you could find another talking point BESIDES the emails or Bengazi, that would be great. She’s been investigated for both multiple times already.
Also, I voted Sanders as well. He lost. He endorsed her. Let’s stop bringing him up when he has made clear his position.

    • MoreSalt says:

Hillary has been investigated for the emails, and for Benghazi, and has been cleared on both.

The fact that your camp can’t let this go is a convicing arguement that you have literally nothing else to throw at her, and no real policy or plan to speak of.

    • Becky says:

Sources? As another poster has pointed out try comparing her with Nixon.

You obviously want Trump to get in. Great, well done.

If I was eligible I would’ve voted for Sanders too. Get over it.

      • hmmm says:

I never thought of Bernie supporters as lunatics, but it seems some espouse the same scorched earth scenario as the raging Trumpsters. Sad.

      • Kitten says:

Sadly some Sanders-supporters are just the opposite side of the same coin as Trump-supporters.

      • MC2 says:

Kitten- I said that to a woman this weekend and she just looked at me. But I was pulling out my hair on the inside (very calm exterior thank.you.very.much) as she spewed some Hillary stuff that was taken straight from the alt right- some sexist stuff and she was championing for Bernie. I told her she was the other side of the coin from the Trump supporters and her heart was in the right place (but she lost her damn mind!). I left shaking my head as she was grabbing arguments from the good bag but some sentences from Limbaugh’s laboratory…..

      • Kitten says:

@MC2- I’ve realized from having a decent amount of Sanders-supporting friends that most of them are people who have never voted or had any prior interest in politics and sadly, it shows. These are people who–prior to Bernie–assumed that every POTUS was one and the same. They ARE much like Trump-followers in that they feel disenfranchised, that their voices are not being heard, and that no politician cares about the issues that they care about.

Sadly, they inevitably end up repeating the same refrains as the GOP without taking a second to Google.
One of my besties (and a Bernie gal) whom I love with all my heart went IN on HRC for months on social media. I watched helplessly as she posted incendiary meme after incendiary meme, all containing unsubstantiated or simply incorrect claims, followed by links to the wildest conspiracy theories I’ve seen outside of the Yahoo comments section.

It was then that I realized that *some* Sanders folks are not that different from Trump-supporters in terms of their political knowledge and their penchant for reactionary journalism.

It’s disappointing because Bernie was one of the politicians that spoke to me in a way that others had not. I was never fully convinced that his platform was feasible but I was willing to vote for him and hope that he would surround himself with more career politician-types and industry vets who could help him transition his great ideas into a more practical format.

Sadly, it was not meant to be.

The silver lining: as I slowly but surely immerse myself in the Clinton campaign, I realize how pragmatic and politically savvy her supporters are. It’s reassuring TBH. I’m also gaining a ton of respect for HRC as I watch her debate the pants off of Cinnamon Hitler.

So while I can’t say I’m not sad that I won’t see my guy on the ticket in November, I’m still comforted to have you smarties here happily welcoming Bernie leftovers like myself.

      • MC2 says:

Kitten- I’ve seen a lot of your posts and our convo here sums up what I have been thinking about Bernie supporters. I have a lot of Bernie supporters in my life (west coast, liberal city) and they are hands down the sweetest & kindest people I know. Bernie’s campaign does remind me of what could be and what to hope for- the little bird. But I am pragmatic & have seen Trump as such a threat that I put all my chips on Hillary long ago. And I thought that she had more political clout & knowledge to take on Trump then Bernie did.

My husband has been scratching his head at all the anti-Hillary stuff during the primaries. We remember when the conservatives hated her because she was a FLOTUS that got things done & didn’t bake cookies. She represented a difference from the norm- a woman who worked & wasn’t just defined by her husband, who represented health care (her cause as FLOTUS), education, equal rights, liberalism. She was the outsider who represented socialism to conservatives & women with brains. She was the opposite of “the man”. How that turned into the saavy politician who is just like the men in suits…..I am not sure. But she is not treated like the suits because she is ‘unqualified’ which is code for: vaginas make your accomplishments null & void. She might be a little swarmy, a politician at heart, she gives speeches as a career with soundbites & she is smug. But I think she has been in the political trenches with these nut bags for a long time & she knows the drill. She wants what we want which is progress, equality and a higher standard of living for all Americans. Trump is right that she has been in this game for thirty years with all this crazy opposition and she has done well.

I was sad seeing my lady get dragged during the primaries from my friends and have tried so.hard to keep it civil and did good. I am excited that Bernie made such an impact. I loved his campaign and the people he brought in- we need heart in our system. I am super excited to see a good third party come from the ashes of all this & am excited for all lefters to join during the next four years and finally get stuff done because the conservative party that has been holding us back are on the ground right now rolling in pain & will be nursing wounds for a long time. Time to start passing those laws that will make ALL our lives better.

From all the die hard Hillary people I know- we welcome the heart of the Bernie peeps with open arms. While being bummed that part of our nation are deplorables, I am looking forward to the future of our country right now. It’s always clearest after a storm.

      • Soror Bro says:

@Kitten: Clinton has her fair share of intellectually lazy and uninformed suppoters too.

      • Melly M says:

I don’t think their problem is that they are too lazy to google. They do and then pick sites that confirm their beliefs.

    • SusanneToo says:

I voted for Bernie too and you’re ridiculous with your Faux News talking points.

    • Incredulous says:

Hillary may be all the bad things you claim and more; however, given a choice between someone with political and governmental experience and a festering abhorrence of ineptitude and hatred and lies and racism and misogyny, that seems like an easy and straight-forward choice to me.

    • virginfangirl says:

Another huge Bernie supporter who is now a Hillary supporter. I used to be a person who voted about 70% democratic and 30% republican. I voted for a Republican mayor of our state several times. But Republicans have lost their minds in recent years. And Trump is everything I’ve been teaching my children not to be. I am truly saddened that people support him. And defend his racist, sexist ways.
He bragged that because he is a rich, powerful man he is able to sexually assault women. How awful that his man may have even more power. I hope women come out in record numbers to make a clear point that Trumps attitude towards women will not be tolerated.
I hope minorities do the same, and any other group Trump has discriminated against.

    • MC2 says:

If you spent any time on our playground then you would know that we talk a lot about more then clothes & sniffles you condescending creeper. We don’t just support people with vaginas and insinuating that is insulting.

But one of the only reasons when all other logic is boiled down to be against her in this election is….sexism. She is liberal compared to most politicians and if you don’t like our political system, change it since this is the ripe time but don’t sit there and act like Hillary is an anomaly. She is a politician who has played the game that we have going on right now and she is the best candidate we have. You have zero arguments that hold any water since they’ve been debunked so you throw out that we are only supporting her because she has a vagina……

You pooped your pants in my sandbox so if you could kindly see yourself out to clean that up and think about coming back when you are willing to share and not just be grabby, that would be great, thanks.

    • legxleg says:

Hillary is more hawkish than I’d like, but at least she is responsible about nuclear proliferation, and I believe that she puts thought into her foreign policy decisions. Trump seems likely to go off half-cocked and start another conflict, leaving us to deal with the fallout (metaphorical and otherwise) for long after his presidency is done. Time and again I have been shocked at the depths of Trump’s pettiness and immaturity. Hillary’s issues aren’t that big a deal to me as a voter – the e-mail and foundation stuff is disappointing, but not at all comparable to Trump’s behavior. I find the idea of President Trump to be terrifying, and even though Hillary is currently killing it in the polls, I am up nights worried that people will think she’s got this in the bag and stay home, and next thing we know we’ve got a Brexit situation on our hands.

  14. Jenns says:

I cannot believe that CNN was calling this a “wash”. The standard that they hold Trump to is unbelievable. Basically, the media thinks he did an OK job because he didn’t go out there and scream “P*ssy!”.

I hate everything about this election and what our country has become.

  15. IndifferentCat says:

The monsters are winning in Europe so what we thought was impossible is now a reality again. When will people learn?

  16. OTHER RENEE says:

All he talks about is those damn emails. I had to turn it off last night. I just couldn’t watch this Hitler 2.0 rant and rave anymore.

  17. Onerous says:

Her moving to camera so that Trump was seen looking like the giant creeper he is was no mistake. I’m 100% certain she had debate prep that included camera placement. It certainly was effective. She knew he’d be a pacing, caged tiger and wanted to get that odd physicality on camera.

    • Neelyo says:

I thought the same. He didn’t prepare and it showed. Just an angry, sulking id.

    • Rapunzel says:

I believe this. Hillary is a prepared woman.

    • hmmm says:

His goal was dominance. His acolytes were ecstatic, I’m sure. All he cares about is his base. He looked like a barely contained raging ape breathing down her neck. Hillary stood her ground. I would have smashed him in the face. For all women. The psycho’s mask was completely off last night. This is who he really is. And he got beaten by a girl again!

  18. Tig says:

What is beyond baffling to me is he has zip platform- maybe he likes the Republican platform, maybe he doesn’t. Who can believe a word out of his mouth?
And threatening jail-??? How I wish she had said “see you there after NY AG investigates your “foundation””. On a happier note- glad the Cubs are up!🐻

  19. smcollins says:

My plans will be the best plans ever…ISIS! Hillary has the worst judgement ever…ISIS! I can fix everything that’s wrong with this country…ISIS! No one has more respect for women than me…ISIS! Emails…ISIS! Did I miss anything?

    • Kitten says:

Yes you did. You forgot “disaster” “very, very bad” and “terrible”.

As I said last night, this guy has such a depressing and bleak view of our country. His supporters feel the same so all he has to do is get up there and validate their fears and he has them eating out of his proverbial hand.

      • Esmom says:

Kitten, yes, the bleakness is scary. I heard someone on NPR, maybe Cokie Roberts, after the first debate talk about how astonishing it is for a major candidate to be so pessimistic and dire, that historically candidates have shown much more pride in and optimism about our country. Completely opposite from Obama’s inspiring optimism, for example. It feels dystopic and menacing.

    • lightpurple says:

You forgot “blacks living in Hell in the inner cities” , “ISIS”, “Obamacare is the worst, I know it, we all know it,” “it’s just words, locker room talk,” “ISIS,” “believe me,” “3 against 1,” “I don’t know Putin,” “emails” and oh yes, “ISIS!”

    • smcollins says:

Lol, I did miss some pretty important points, thanks! I also missed “tremendous.” A lot of “tremendous” being thrown about.
And @kitten, you’re so right. That’s the one thing he’s always been good at. Tapping into people’s fears and using it to advance himself throughout this entire race.

    • Christin says:

That’s too close to actual sentence structure (the actual transcript is a must read).

  20. Rapunzel says:

Trump continues to show ignorance of even the most basic political concepts. He attacked Hillary for not making change, ignoring that one person cannot just do whatever they want in politics. Then he threatens to throw her in jail, as if presidents can just do whatever they like. He browbeats the military for not doing “sneak attacks” with no understanding of how military activity works. He seemed to also not grasp that he needs to work in tandem with his running mate.

    A child could do better.

  21. Bess says:

Did anyone else notice that Trump appeared to be having mood swings during the debate? He would speak calmly and slowly one moment and then start rattling off incoherently the next.

    • Kitten says:

I think he starts raving and ranting when he gets nervous because he realizes as he’s speaking that he has NO idea what he’s talking about and isn’t really equipped to answer a policy-related question.

Sorry I just keep coming back to that because it was the biggest takeaway from last night for me: dude has NO f*cking clue.

      • Bess says:

Trump never articulates any policies. He doesn’t have any solutions. He just plays the blame game. I wish Hillary would have turned to the gorilla and asked him to explain his plan to solve any of our national problems.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

      Or it was cocaine.

  22. manda says:

Both mics were too strong–I could hear both of them smacking their lips and breathing and it left me cringing all night. Can’t stand those noises, gross!!!

  23. Margo S. says:

What an unbelievable mess. I couldn’t believe half the sh!t he said and did last night. Anderson Cooper was so mad at him. So true that trump acts like a school yard bully. “Why don’t you tell HER to stop talking. 3 against 1.” That’s because trump, SHE IS NOT INTERRUPTING YOU!!!!!

  24. Bess says:

Hillary Clinton has the self-control of a saint. I know there is no way I would have been able to keep my cool with that knuckle-dragging buffoon snorting like a pig and stalking me from behind.

    • LinaLamont says:

Hillary’s a class act. (Bill, although he was a great president, is an embarrassment with the ML scandal).

Look at what the Obamas have had to endure. They’ve shown incredible grace and strength in light of the vitriol and disgusting and racist  remarks (and more) about them over the past 8 years.

These are the people you admire– the people you want representing you and your country; not the Trumps.

    • Zan says:

I thought this last night, too. Hillary isn’t my fave (but she’s got my vote!), yet I was actually pissed she had to share the stage with that total unqualified disaster of a human being.
For years he has shown himself to be a racist misogynist who lacks even the most basic understanding of American government. Last night was more and more and more of the same.

  25. Nic919 says:

I can’t believe that he threatened to jail her as his first act as president. That is insane and what a dictator says. How many investigations need to happen before they accept that nothing illegal was done?

You can’t watch that debate and think he is normal or sane.

  26. JudyK says:

Aside from his “surprise” Press Conference with the four (4) women he called unattractive LOSERS at the time of the occurrence and whom he is now USING to deflect from his own behavior and vulgarity, what in the heck is up with Trump’s constant sniffing. He may not drink, but I’m beginning to wonder if he’s involved in some other activity. It is not normal.

  27. Persephone says:

In Australia we had a Prime Minister who went for a swim one day and just vanished. One conspiracy theory is that he was working for the Chinese and was picked up by a submarine and taken to China. Trump needs to go for a swim so the Russians can come take him away.

    • Floydy says:

And then we named a swimming pool in his honour – love being an Aussie!

      • Lucrezia says:

We can’t take ALL the credit for black humour relating to Holt’s disappearance. We did name a swimming pool after him (and a marine reserve) but Vietnam also has a Harold Holt memorial swimming pool and the US navy named a boat after him.

  28. JESS82 says:

ironic (in the most unfortunate way) that the first presidential candidate in history to share the stage with an unhinged child throwing a tantrum is a woman.

also sympathy to all those dealing with trump voters. in my corner of LA everyone thinks he’s nuts and i’m already so enraged, i can’t imagine having to deal with his supporters.

    • Tate says:

Fortunately no one close to me is a Trump supporter. I have however gotten to the point of deleting people on my FB page that are Trump supporters. If you are still openly supporting Trump after all that we now know than I just can’t deal with you.

      • Liz Simpson says:

I was horrified to find out my son and family of his in laws are voting Trump. My daughter just visited them in NH and he’s got the bumper stickers and one of the kids let it out,( to be quickly hushed by another) but as his children are all girls and they are church goers and a bit prudish to boot, my mind cannot conceive what their thinking is?do they not hear the rhetoric? We’re Canadian/ Brits, watching this in horror and dare not voice any opinion as my DIL gets very very shrill over what she calls our’cultural differences’ ( does that mean our knowledge of politics and our interest, our facing the facts to make an opinion ?) We know they voted Bush, thought we were all crazy not to see how America can solve all the world problems etc and we steer clear of any political talk when we see them! Not worth the fracture it would cause in our family, but sadly I no longer know the boy I raised or understand his actions. All he has professed he believes in, family, church values, de envy and respect are being made a mockery of by this appalling Trump, yet he and the god fearing in laws are turning a blind eye to this? My heart is very sore!

      • mayamae says:

It’s amazing what children reveal. After living in Texas for two years, my cousin returned home. At dinner her three year-old exclaimed, “Al Gore kills babies!”.

      • Tate says:

@Liz I am sorry. That is really tough and I am sure heartbreaking. My Dad was a life long Republican and on his death bed in 2009 he shook his head sadly and said he didn’t recognize his own party anymore. That was before things got really crazy. I can’t imagine what he would think of his party now if he was still alive.

    • Kitten says:

Yeah there are very few Trump-supporters where I live.
I’m battling against the “They Both Suck” people though. Plenty of those around here.

      • Luca76 says:

Ugh was at a shower yesterday and someone said that. It’s just so aggravating and insulting to hear it. Even if you believe every awful thing about Hilary she’s still far more qualified. I’m so happy I’ll be out of the country for the election.(waiting for my absentee ballot in the mail)

      • Kitten says:

Exactly. This isn’t just about differing personalities, this is about qualifications. But these people don’t care much about qualifications, do they?

  29. Bluesky says:

Just looking at him you can tell he hasn’t seen the inside of a locker room in a long time. He’s so used to saying whatever he wants and never being challenged. Was really happy to see other athletes stand up on Twitter and say that this is not locker room talk.

I had a scary incident years ago where I guy tried to follow me home. This is not funny or okay.

  30. JenB says:

You guys. It’s so refreshing to at least be able to come to this site for some sensible discourse.
I live in southern VA and, while I think VA will be blue again this election cycle my local area is probably red. And the biggest thing I notice is the overwhelming, irrational HATE of Hillary. I don’t think most would have been really excited for Trump but this visceral hate for the Clintons is the biggest factor. They want her to lose more than anything else. I don’t understand why it’s so strong. I get not being a fan but I’m at a loss to understand these people I love and respect that are voting for Trump. It’s tough. God Bless the USA and please vote.

    • Kitten says:

The GOP has been vilifying HRC for years and years now in anticipation of her eventual presidential race. These expert mud-slingers have masterfully created a caricature of an angry, scorned woman who lashed out against her husband’s accusers instead of lashing out at her husband. They’ve harped on Benghazi and wasted resources and tax-payers’ money to pursue multiple investigations that have all yielded the same result–one that directly contradicts everything the GOP has claimed. The thing is, Trump-supporters don’t live in our reality. They don’t like to be challenged and they don’t enjoy critical thinking. They just want to have their preconceived notions validated and affirmed.

These are people who feverishly believe the lies they are fed. Lies that could easily be debunked with a quick Google search. They like their heads firmly planted in the sand.

      • SusanneToo says:

Their motto “Dumb as dirt and damn proud of it.”

      • lightpurple says:

@Kitten, it infuriates me how much of our tax dollars have been wasted investigating the Clintons for the past 24 years by people who claim to be “fiscally conservative” and all they got to show for it was a semen-stained dress because a man who was an admitted adulterer committed adultery.

      • Liz Simpson says:

        Very well said!

    • Christin says:

I’m also in a red zone, yet one thing I have noticed lately are how FEW of his signs are in yards. Usually I cannot drive a mile without seeing multiple GOP candidate signs or bumper sticker s at this stage of a presidential election. This year, it’s been far less.

      • SusanneToo says:

I’ve lived in Mobile, AL since 1966 and cannot remember the Mobile Press Register endorsing a Democrat for President. Yesterday, they endorsed HRC!! Alabama will still go red, but I’m happy some of the newspapers are stepping up.

      • doofus says:

I had been seeing several, here and there…but places where signs used to be are now empty. that gives me hope.

      • Dee Kay says:

@SusanneToo: Wow, that’s great news!!! Go Mobile Press Register!!!

    • J.Mo says:

Rednecks already had to put up with a black President, this pushed them over the edge and they can’t handle a woman in office after the last 8 yrs.

  31. MellyMel says:

Didn’t watch cause there’s not enough wine in the world I could drink to get through listening to that cheeto dusted troll lying and deflecting once again. Just four more weeks left and hopefully we won’t have to deal with him anymore (@ least on this scale.) Please remember to vote!!! #imwithher

  32. reg says:

Donald Trump is being supported by Scientologists, what he was doing is classic bull baiting
attack and attack without allowing the other party to recover.
Thankfully most Americans already made up their mind, to not vote for this
    would be Dictator in Training.

    • Livvers says:

I enjoy this theory, but I don’t really buy in to the idea that he’s using Scientology “technology,” unless you also agree that he’s doing so terribly. He seems to have skipped “Confront” (the thousand-yard stare) since he’s always squinting and closing his eyes, though I agree he is a MASTER at “Dear Alice, the “robotic repetition of nonsense phrases,” and of course Bull-baiting is his ancient and weathered friend. Still, he totally fails at applying the “tone scale” to reveal Clinton’s covert hostility, and I haven’t seen him yell at an ashtray yet, though frankly, would any of us be surprised?

  33. KirstyLou says:

This is so depressing. I can’t believe that so much of the media is reporting this as a Trump success.

I really hope that the vote next month goes Clinton’s way but I feel a sense of doom. The Brexit vote result was such a shock – and the whole campaign was based on racism and immigration. The end result was that half of us in the UK woke up that morning and realised that we were completely in disagreement with around 50% of the the population who voted to leave. And now we are feeling the after effects of that rotten result – hate crime and racism has increased massively, and our political parties are in turmoil.

I hope to God that Americans dont have such a polarised result, but I agree with those commenters who have said that the nastiness is not going to disappear overnight, even if Trump does lose. It’s a Pandora’s box of really unsettled nastiness.

“Make America great again?’ – how dare he. Look at what this campaign has done.

  34. KirstyLou says:

By the way – thank god for this site. I’ve loved celebitchy for years for slagging off Kate Middleton’s shoes etc, but it’s really come into its own lately with the Amber Heard divorce and the election.

  35. TwistBarbie says:

So, the story on D-listed about Trump on Howard Stern’s show and the nauseating things he said there…I think we should talk about that. It’s just as bad as the infamous tapes IMO. (I’m assuming I’m not allowed to post the link)

  36. Drbzy says:

Before I even checked, I knew it was Kaiser who wrote this because I never laughed harder in my life than I have at the *sniffs*

  37. nicegirl says:

We CAN do something to save our country – VOTE for HRC.

  38. Jade says:

As a Canadian I would like to say we LOVE our health care system, the best part is that everyone, no matter what their income level is, are treated equally.

    • TwistBarbie says:

I agree that’s it’s fantastic to have it, but it’s flawed as far as the premium tiers. You begin paying the highest rate at I believe 30,000/year. So a single person who is making just enough to support themselves pays the same amount as someone bringing in a million dollars/year. That isn’t right. A couple bringing in $30 000 total income pays something like $140/month. It’s better than no healthcare to be sure, but it’s pretty messed up that people essentially living in poverty have to pay the same as the 1%.

      • Jade says:

Sorry not sure what you are talking about, there is No premium tiers. There is no monthly fee so again I’m not sure where you are getting your info from, maybe I’m misunderstanding but I definitely do not pay directly to antone or any organization for my medical care.

      • Livvers says:

@Jade, yes! As your first comment makes clear, most Canadians see it as a virtue of the system that healthcare is considered an essential social service to which everyone deserves equal access, no matter their income, which they pay in to at reasonably similar amounts by percentage of their income (lowest to highest tax bracket spread). There would be political consequences if we were to treat healthcare as “welfare,” as we have seen in the U.S. with things like Medicaid, where there is less societal buy-in to a system that is seen as a ‘subsidy for poor people.’

      • TwistBarbie says:

        @Jade
Source: I’m Canadian and I pay MSP premiums to the government every month, even as a full-time student. In BC you pay MSP every month unless you make less than $22 000/ year. In all the other provinces (I believe) they are incorporated into income tax.

      • Lucrezia says:

Just to clarify, that’d be top rates on $30,000 net income, so about $35,000 – $40,000 gross (depending on deductions)? It’s possible that’s what you meant, but I tend to assume “earned” = before tax, so I thought I’d clarify. It’s still not great, I agree that it should be more progressive.

      • Jade says:

@TwistBarbie I’m sorry to hear that, in Ontario it comes out in our income taxes so we don’t pay monthly but our fees are based on income, so someone making $200k pays more than someone making 30k.

    • Liz Simpson says:

I’m not sure where that’s coming from either? In the past seven years I’ve had my spleen removed, to remove the first bout of cancer, had a second bout of lymphoma, I’ve got diabetes and had septicaemia, involving 7 days in ICU and countless prescriptions.I’m having regular eye surgery through this year due to medicine induced blindness, in all that time I paid $105 for the use of a TV in hospital, and each year I pay the first $100 shortfall on prescriptions and believe me I get many pills for the next 11 months, all at the cost of $4 a scrip! I gave three kids here and four grandchildren here! We all have tremendous free healthcare! My son in NH has been countless of thousands in debt over the years, sometimes crippling debt, always being hounded, for his children’s healthcare! Don’t ever compare our healthcare system to American healthcare! Once again The Donald spouted forth nonsense! Oh, and our healthcare is for every last one of us, no discriminations, no refusals!!

  39. Josefina says:

The fact Trump has any sort of shot at this goes to show how flawed democracy is. Trump stands for everything democracy is supposed to avoid.

Clinton is no saint of my devotion, but I have major respect for her for keeping herself gracious and collected against that man. I wouldnt be able.

  40. Marna says:

Why no mention of Bill Clintons rape victims or the 12 year old rape victim that Hillary shamed and got her accuser off on a technicality knowing full well he was guilty??? That poor victim was in a coma after the rape for 5 days!

    • lightpurple says:

If you are referring to Juanita Broaddrick, she signed an affidavit under pains and penalties of perjury during the Jones lawsuit that Clinton did not rape her. Hillary was a court appointed attorney; we have that in our society, that whole “you have a right to an attorney and if you cannot afford one, one will be provided for you” bit under the Miranda statement from the Bill of Rights thingy. Court appointed attorneys do have to do their job.

    • TotallyBiased says:

It is on record that the man on trial for rape demanded a female lawyer (there were seven available at the time) as his court -appointed public defender AND that after the Judge appointed HRC she requested multiple times to be relieved but was turned down.
The only “laughing on tape” was years later , and she chuckled at the fact that the accused passed a lie detector test.
She didn’t get him off, btw, the PROSECUTOR offered a plea bargain that was relatively lenient BY TODAY’S STANDARDS and she advised her client to take it.
He plead GUILTY, and the judge reduced the actual time he had to serve even more.
Years ago the woman involved said she had no hostility against Hillary (also on the record)–it wasn’t until the Daily Mail did a hit piece on Hillary that the victim made the negative claims. She also recanted earlier statements, saying she hadn’t known it was Hillary until then. In her earlier statements she had said how excited she was to read Hillary’s book because she was going to be in it.

    • TotallyBiased says:

So that would be ZERO “rape victims” of Bill’s WHO IS NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT HERE.
And Donald Trump IS running for President, and he IS being investigated for rape HIMSELF of a young girl.
That whole false equivalence thing is a bear, isn’t it?

    • annetommy says:

I am fed up with the suggestion that by defending an accused person, the lawyer is somehow endorsing what the defendant may have done. That sort of talk got an Irish solicitor, Pat Finucane, murdered. It should stop.

  41. Marna says:

Bill Clinton paid Paula Jones $850,000.00 to settle his sexual assault against her.Hillary has called Gennifer Flowers trailer trash and Monica Lewinsky a narcissistic loony toon while they were speaking the TRUTH about what went on. Hillary has threatened his victims and even had the IRS go after them with audits. But we never hear about this from your site. You are not an advocate for women and neither is Hillary!

    • lightpurple says:

Oh, dear. Let us speak the truth, shall we? The LEGAL truth. What sexual assault case? Paula Jones had a sexual harassment case, not a sexual assault case. One is civil, the other tends to have a criminal component, although one can allege assault in a civil case too. In lawsuits, there is something called “go away money.” A sum of money a party will pay to make the case go away because, although they will eventually prevail, it is cheaper and easier to settle the case than to fight on. Now, Paula Jones LOST her lawsuit against Bill Clinton. Do you understand that? She LOST. She then appealed. There were all sorts of appeals going on. Years worth of appeals. Millions of dollars and countless hours of taxpayer paid time spent on appeals. At one point, her attorneys petitioned the court to be allowed to leave the case because they recommended settlement and she refused to settle against legal advice. The court granted their request and she had to find new attorneys. As a result of the appeals, Paula Jone’s sexual harassment case lived to once again be dismissed. Jones could not prove wrongdoing on the part of Clinton and she could not prove that she suffered any harm. The two elements she needed to show. Which means she LOST She then appealed yet again. At this point, to end the damn nuisance case, which is what it was, Clinton agreed to pay “go away money” at her asking price with absolutely no acknowledgment of wrong doing. She saw none of that money because she owned more than that in legal fees. She also admitted years later that she voted for Clinton for president in both 1992 and 1996.

During Jones’s messy mess of a frivolous case, Broaddrick signed an affidavit, under the pains and penalties of perjury, that Clinton did not sexually assault her.

And Hillary Clinton has never been in any position that would give her any control over the IRS.

    • Kitten says:

And how exactly does this relate to Clinton’s presidential campaign?

How HRC handled her husband’s multiple, devastating affairs is personal and shouldn’t have any bearing on her ability to be a capable and effective POTUS.

And how does what happened in her marriage during a time when she was not acting in any political capacity have ANY bearing on her support of women? Look, I don’t GAF how she handles Bill’s roaming weiner as long as she has a steady record of voting for women’s rights.
      And oh look! SHE DOES.

      ETA: *high fives* LightPurple

    • Jaded says:

Let’s place the Jones case in this context. Then Governor Clinton’s behavior was obnoxious and inappropriate. He made a gross sexual overture to a state employee, for which he appropriately should be criticized and held up to shame. She said no, and there were no consequences– he didn’t renew the approach, her work environment didn’t change, she wasn’t fired or demoted. The imbalance created by his action was immediately redressed by hers; the moment she said no and left, the incident was over. Only in the fantasy world of the attorneys was there any lasting harm to redress in a court.

Gennifer Flowers willingly went into an adulterous relationship with a married man. She was not coerced, bullied or otherwise led into it by anything more than the promise of a discreet fling with the Governor behind his wife’s back. She knew exactly what she was getting into and was not a blameless victim.

Monica Lewinsky also knew exactly what she was after. Upon becoming an intern at the White House she said to some friends…”I’m going to the White House to get my presidential kneepads!!” She first zeroed in on George Stephanopoulos, hanging around his office incessantly to the point where she had to be rebuffed by his executive assistant.

She then started a stalking campaign of Clinton, befriending his assistant Betty Curry, showing up at all times trying to put herself in the path of the President. It got so bad the secret service and some of the other officers started writing her name down to keep track of the constant visits by her. Finally, the Deputy Chief of Staff was asked to get Lewinsky reassigned away from the West Wing but the sloppiness of the Clinton White House, especially during the government shutdown, was beginning to affect the Secret Service.

All of these incidents, as deplorable as they are, must be put into the proper context – unfortunately Clinton seems to be led around by his nether regions but at least 2 of the 3 women were equally culpable in entering into tawdry relationships with him.

Lol all of a sudden the GOP is standing up for women’s rights? This is a case of apples vs oranges. Bill isn’t running for president again. Trump supporters, bring some policy issues to the table and maybe we can have a grownup conversation.

  42. fee says:

I find it so, so disheartening that people I know are STILL voting for Trump after last night’s debate. It just goes to show that his core base is not going to change no matter what sort of bad behavior he puts forth. I am all in for Hilary at this point. I was a bit skeptical of Hilary before this election, but her grace in dealing with Trump and knowledge of policies have completely won me over. I live in Texas (AKA one of the reddest red states of them all) but I will still go to the polls and proudly vote for HRC. My mother (who has always been a moderate Republican) will also be voting for HRC this year. I hope enough moderate voters make the same decision.

    • TotallyBiased says:

I sincerely applaud you and your mother, and pray there are enough other good people in Texas heading to the polls on Election Day to cause a November Surprise!

  43. Sharon says:

I guarantee that when Trump loses, he will say the election was fixed and he will sue! The man has no conscience, is a derelict, narcissist, misognist, woman hater. He is only runnying for POSTUS to line his own pockets. He cares nothing about the American people or the problems they are suffering. The man wants to be dictator. But this is what the Republican party brought on themselves. By not passing any of Obama’s bills into law they created this monster. And to tell you the truth, Melania is a gold digger who only stays with him for the money.

    • Liz Simpson says:

      Absolutely on point!
He is 100% in this for himself,is self deluded and has not a patriotic bone in his body, he mocks the afflicted, calls anyone who doesn’t genefluct to him a ‘loser’ he self admitted to only respecting beauty, and says the most appalling things about those he considers inferior! I’ve always thought his children turned out well but now I see their thinking is a skewed as his! How sad that a country is being made such a laughing stock, that some of it’s people are hurt, mortified and scared to see what it is turning into. I do believe if he loses he’ll see it as a trick, a scam against him and will never accept he himself had a thing to do with it. He’ll also leave the country incredibly divided as his ‘ supporters ‘ will continue to rage that he’s been robbed! I don’t think America will ever be the same and I think Putin must be rubbing his hands and salivating to see this! !no need to fight the USA, its imploding from the inside!

  44. A. Key says:

“like America was a banana republic”
    ?

What do you mean “like”? Have we been following the same news?

America is a laughingstock. All the good Obama did to your image has been undone whe you got this idiot into the presidential race. I guess money really can buy anything and anyone in America. If he weren’t such a stupid idiot of the highest calibre he might have actually stood a chance which is the really frightening thing.

    • LinaLamont says:

“All the good Obama did to your image has been undone…”

Not until, unless IT gets elected… and, we’re doing our damnedest to see that doesn’t happen.

      • Jumulie says:

Well… Not exactly. I don’t agree, sadly. The damage (some of it) has been done by now because Trump is where he is. It is, unfortunately, very simple. No matter whether Trump loses or not, we can’t ignore the fact that so many Americans supported and STILL support this vile, despicable man. I’m sorry but it will forever be a very dark and embarrassing stain on the history of the United States. I wish it weren’t so but the damage that has already been done can’t be undone and it is not a good look for a large percentage of the American people.

  45. Jumulie says:

I have lived in the US for a year and a half and this situation is beyond scary to me. I cannot understand what is going on with this country and although of course I know that so many Americans are not this, the fact remains that this man still has way too many supporters. And to me, his supporters are people who apparently don’t see any reason to condemn racism, sexism, bigotism and various other -isms. To me, any Trump supporter is a person with a black soul, no empathy and, frankly, no matter if he wins or not, this will for ever be an embarrassing, dark stain on USA and its people.

One of the absolute worst things – and this is so concerning to me because I saw the exact same thing happening in Denmark, my home country – is how this changes the rhetorics. When politicians – especially those running for presidency! – choose to talk like Trump does about minorities and people in general, it paves the way for the rest of the people. Suddenly it becomes ok to use the worst words imaginable about other people, people who are different from you, people who are less resourceful, people who struggle, people who believe in different things and that just makes the whole world a more hostile and dangerous place. It makes me so, so sad – and the development truly frightens the sh*t out of me.

    • Danishgirl says:

It is scary as hell! I can’t belive that I live in the same country as Joakim B.O. and Pernille Vermund and that they are the same age as me. I’m sure most Americans feel the same way about Trump.

    • J.Mo says:

The rednecks had to put up with a black President so they can’t imagine following that up with a woman. Things haven’t changed, people have just been pushed out of the woodwork.

  46. comet per chance says:

Does anybody else wonder if he’s maybe in the undiagnosed early stages of Alzheimer’s? His vocabulary is so small, and he uses the same phrases over and over again. And that sniff – my mom did that, although it was in the later stages. The anger. The childishness. I do wonder.

    • Christin says:

In a comment on WaPo, I recall a claim that his father had the disease. Not sure if that is factual or not.

    • Livvers says:

Can’t speak to the anger and childishness as potential symptoms, since I think he’s always been like that, but yes, I was actually thinking yesterday during the debate that compared to some of the 10, 15, 20 year old interviews the press has been bringing up again, he really did use to speak with more clarity, more complex sentence formation, and his dumb verbiage used to be applied with more relevance and accuracy. I just sort of put it down to those folk tales and fantasy stories where jerk people are turned into animals, and unless the spell is broken they will lose their humanity and the transformation will be permanent. Human intellect: use it or lose it.

      • comet per chance says:

That’s what made me start to wonder, seeing the old interviews and realizing he wasn’t always all, “it’s tremendous, let me tell you, believe me.” Well I guess only time will tell, since he certainly won’t.

  47. Soror Bro says:

    .

  48. Soror Bro says:

So how come some of you people condemn people for working with Woody Allen but give Hillary a pass for staying involved with Bill?

    • Ange says:

Because Bill isn’t a child abuser. Duh.

    • Ange says:

Bill was found not guilty with very good reasons that have been outlined elsewhere. The evidence that Woody lacks boundaries with young women is in his marriage certificate.

  49. Lonesurvivor in AZ says:

I can’t begin to express what a SOUL SAVER it’s been for me to find all of you in the last few horrifying days! Such perceptive , cogent and compassionate opinions just when I thought all was lost. I am the only Hillary supporter I know here and I paced the floor frantically during the “debate” unable to stop look away because it felt like abandoning HRC to that stalking malignant narcissist – someone said like a cobra stalking a mongoose! I’m terrified to wake up each morning to check the news for fear he’ll somehow RESSURECT like the orange bloodsucker he is. Let’s keep pushing everyone to VOTE and thank you ALL for restoring my faith in sanity and dare I say it HUMANITY! I

    • Lonesurvivor in AZ says:

Sorry for the typo RESURRECT even saying it terrifies the crap out of me! I can’t even broach the subject with friends because I just can’t listen to the ignorant baseless rants anymore about hrc. I don’t undetstand the blind hatred without people refusing to learn any of her accomplishments or plans – she is our only light out of this dark danger of a Trumpian FASCIST (I know that word sets off Trumpets) future without a future.

    • Soror Bro says:

I guess we should be relieved that he only shook her hand.

  50. Deeanna says:

What IS Donald’s problem with the sniffing? Has there been any public statement from his campaign about this issue? I know his doctor wrote a report saying he is very healthy.

The sniffing is very noticeable. Has anyone had the guts to directly ask him about the incessant sniffing? This is a man who openly mocked HRC’s illness (acute pneumonia) on stage at one of his rallies.
