Angelina Jolie has not really been seen in more than two months. There were blurry paparazzi photos of Jolie and the kids are her LA rental, but other than that, she has been keeping a low, low, low profile. Considering how messy and how long-winded the divorce and custody battle will probably be, who even knows when we’ll next see Angelina on a public outing? Will she give an exclusive interview to a friendly media outlet to tell her side of the story? Will she make her first outing at a refugee camp, or at a premiere? I don’t know. But Angelina was “seen” late last week – sort of. She sent a video of support for the International Criminal Court’s work with children.
Angelina Jolie has resurfaced in a video plea to support the International Criminal Court’s efforts to protect the lives of children worldwide, after she’s largely avoided the spotlight during her ongoing custody battle with estranged husband Brad Pitt. As a special envoy of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Jolie has advocated for the rights of children in conflict zones like Syria and Afghanistan for more than a decade.
In a new video that was posted online on Friday, Jolie praised the ICC and its new policy to focus on prosecuting crimes committed against children.
“Successful prosecution and new legal benchmark, whether at the ICC or elsewhere, is part of the long and vital generational effort. That is the light in which I believe the court’s new policy on children should be seen,” Jolie said. “I particularly welcome the commitment to include charges for crimes against children, wherever the evidence permits, as part of a more systematic approach. I congratulate the office of the chief prosecutor and all those working on the policy.”
I think the video of support is about how crimes against children are difficult to prosecute in many cases, and that’s writ large in an international setting, when the crimes against children are actually war crimes and acts of genocide, like we’re seeing in Syria. Angelina is saying that crimes against children should be prosecuted alongside (and in equal measure to) other crimes. So… Angelina’s first public outing was about crimes against children. Interesting, given what led her to bolt with the kids, right?

What’s interesting is she had advocated for children for YEARS. Why this is being used as something about her and Brad is what is silly. She did a PSA for an event; it was not like her usual ones for the UNHCR. It was played at the event.. Someone put it on twitter their. Tabloids picked it up and made it about her Personal life. Which it has nothing to do with.
Ridiculous. And we don’t know what happened on the plane. We know that some anonymous person call. other than that everything is rumor and speculation.
Yes, she might even have committed to this before the plane stuff happened.

I think it would be great for Angelina to go back to school and get a college degree and masters in international relations. I remember Eva Longoria stating that people didn’t take her seriously because she was “just an actress speaking on a subject” they tended to dismiss her so she now has a masters in Chicano studies so she can speak with authority. I think people would be less apt to dismiss Angelina if she had some education to back up the publicity she gets as a public person even with her years of advocacy on behalf of refugees.
while she may not have formal “in school” education, she has been doing this for so many years and, I’m sure, has gotten a VERY good education simply from being involved in both the political aspect and “on-the-ground” aspect.

She’s worked with ICC for years. She visited the Netherlands in April for a meeting with the ICC. It is gross the media is trying to turn her positive attributes into something negative. But I’m not surprised. It’s been happening for over a decade.
I hope she does tell her side of the story. Media & public have been so nasty about her, especially not knowing any of the facts. Glad she continues her humanitarian work. Something i think she will do a lot more of. Think she looks more healthy in the video.
I’m going to tell you right now you’ll never get her side of the story. The one thing they’ve likely agreed on is airtight non-disclosure agreements for both of them. The only hope for gossip is that one of those kids talks in 20 years.

I am with you Maya. My opinion of him has certainly changed. He seems to care more about his image than his kids. I will give him until after this movie promo to completely drop him from my list. People are really asking why he did t his last movie. No chemistry and comparisons to Mr Mrs Smith are unavoidable. Think he had a Brand plan? He has been very career savy and confident in his ability to charm an audience. He may have misjudged this time. Lot of not so great reviews. The good reviews are from Brad Grey fans.

Why would people who don’t follow gossip care enough to even pick a side? The people that don’t follow it don’t make much of a difference in this case as they are unlikely to boycott an actor for off-screen behavior.
Also, sadly the letters from her lawyers are more likely to end the attacks than anything he says. She will be blamed for forcing him to lie, being manipulative, starting the argument with the now infamous ending, being complicit in covering up abuse.

Brad has released 2 statements. One after the divorce announcement and another to say he would not be attending a premier. He has never released any statement regarding what did or didn’t happen on the plane. Neither has Angelina. All of the rest is gossip rumors
OH and what happened to that video that showed Brad drunk on the tarmac.. that was taken as fact too. Until the airport said it was a lie. People are taking all these tabloid stories and “sources’ as facts. They are not. They are tabloid stories. When Angie released the statement that she and Brad had reached a temporary agreement after the tabloids were screaming they had not talked it showed again how the tabloids didn’t know squat.

I don’t think Brad said what happened on that plane. I think Brad said he didn’t hit his son in the face or something like that. He said it or his handlers released that statement. Also one incident doesn’t prove that there wasn’t fault on both sides. I, myself speculated that they must have been having problems in the marriage for quite some time but this incident and the only incident that we know about must have been the breaking point for AJ.
But let’s not pretend that we know what was going on in these two relationships. As AJ and Brad proved to all of us, die hard fans included, we didn’t know crap. It wasn’t that long ago that fans put this couple up on a pedestal and was saying that the naysayers were either jealous or haters. Fans were acting like they knew this woman personally but she and Brad pretty much just took a crap on the golden image the die hard fans had of them. No, I know everyone wants to know the scoop, but the reality is there are kids here and it is best if both are quiet and work to co-parent their children. I applaud them both for taking the high road, which doesn’t seem to be happening a lot lately, and doing the best for the children not their careers. In reality I think they both have gotten bad publicity about this, and it does take a lot not to scream the reality but it is better for the children to not have to live their parents problems through the media. Also, extra applause to Jolie for continuing her hard work for children, even with this trouble in her personal life.

Not true. They cleared him of child abuse, not of any wrong doing. There are guidances in place for his visits with therapist.

Actually, DCFS did clear him. The plan that is in place is an extension of the recommended guidelines DCFS made while they were investigating. I know some don’t want to accept that maybe Brad isn’t the monster he was portrayed as for a couple months, but the man has filed for joint custody and he will get it.

Yes, they did clear him of child abuse, I agreed with that, and I never said that Brad is the monster. I said that obviously something happened that affected the children and that both Angelina and Brad decided that for a while supervised visits with therapist would be the best for the children while they heal. He will get joint custody if they divorce and as Angelina said in the statement, which I quoted below: We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family – she said from the begining that two fully involved parents is the goal and they are going towards that goal.
I agree Sixer. Also, we have no idea what child services actually said or the reason why the children are still seeing a therapist. It could simply be that years of travelling around, instability and inconsistency in parenting has left them deeply insecure. Shouting and drinking are not good, but there are plenty of other ways to damage a child. If the court awards her full custody she is vindicated, if she fights it but the court awards them joint custody then he is vindicated. If they quietly settle then we will never know and hopefully that is what will happen because it is the best thing for the children. In the mean time I am not playing the game of deciding which stories and true which have been leaked with his or her permission and which are complete fabrications.

Again, you are listening to the “war” narrative. She will be vindicated if she gets full custody, he will be vindicated if he get joined? That is so not true. She always, always said from the first day that filing for the full custody was TEMPORARY measure.
It really doesn’t matter where the fault lies – whether with one or other or both. There are several children involved who are best served by privacy.
If fans of one or other prioritise a public victory for the one they favour over the wellbeing of children, those fans should seriously reflect on what they are advocating.
You don’t really know for sure, because it is mostly sealed. Not to mention, we could have the heavens open up and tell us exactly what happened and still some people would believe what they want. Kind of how I explain Donald Trump, people believe what they want.
Angelina has not really said much either, just through basic court filings and various statements she said she will always protect her children, so I am not sure why people are so gung-ho in going after Brad when Angelina isn’t or vice versa for that matter too. Just because she asked for primary sole custody or she is supporting a children’s anti-violence campaign as her first post separation gig doesn’t mean Brad was a bad father that beat his kid or whatever people are surmising. There are legitimate reasons for both of those things, and the many other conclusions people are coming up with the limited information they truly have.
Unless she employs P.R , she will talk. There have been many times in her past when she should have answered “no comment”, “none of your business” or submit a list of topics that should not be questioned. She’s too open.

I’m a fan of both of them. But Angie has not been a single parent for 12 years. She had a partner that she talked about all that time as a supportive and active one. As a fan of both I’ve been disgusted by many of the comments made by both Angelina and Brad fans. The comments are pretty pro Angelina here. Outside CB fans that have turned pro-Brad have made similar assucations. Some of the comments I’ve read are:
“The old Brad is back. He looks so much better without that evil woman sucking the life out of him”. Another, ” Angelina shouldn’t make a video about other people’s children when she doesn’t care about the welfare of her own children”. Another, “Brad should get full custody of the kids, because Brad has a loving family that will gladly give them the love they need and all Jolie has is her brother”. I was sad to see their marriage end, but I will continue to support them.

I think that angelina doesn’t need anyone to make her happy – she had 12 years with brad and i am sure there were lots of good times there plus having all her kids must have all been worth it.
