Here are some photos of Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard at last night’s Paris premiere of Allied. Marion stuck with Dior, and I’m enjoying her toga dress (what else am I supposed to call it?) more than some of the other Dior looks she’s been wearing recently. I would think that this was a tricky color for her – in some photos, it reads as tomato-red, but in other photos, it seems to have a weird orange tint. Still, Marion looks beautiful. Brad looks… the same, I guess. The same as he looked at the LA premiere, which is to say tired and thin. He’s lost weight since September, and I hope to God it’s because he’s detoxing/not drinking. Also: they really don’t want to look too buddy-buddy right? The body language is hella awkward.

Once again, there are no new Brad Pitt quotes because the man is as silent as the grave. He’s fulfilling his promotional obligations by merely showing up, being photographed and signing autographs for fans. Will this promotional scheme work? I have no idea. There are few true-blue movie stars like Brad Pitt left, so the fact that the film is being sold on his name alone will probably guarantee a significant box office. But what if the movie stinks? I don’t know. Currently, Rotten Tomatoes has it hovering around the 49-50% area among critics. The Guardian called it “plonkingly slow and clonkingly laborious” and the critic says Marion and Brad have “no chemistry, no romantic fusion.” Other critics were nicer though – Entertainment Weekly basically says it’s enjoyable in a heavily stylized way.
