Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk are expecting a baby and the whole thing is pinging my radar. My radar for… shadiness, I think. It’s not that believe that this situation is a massive conspiracy (I don’t not think that though), but the publicity around it is so weird. Bradley Cooper still hasn’t said one word about it officially or unofficially. The unnamed sources who are talking all sound like Irina’s publicist. And to what end? To bill this as the hot and sexy romance of the year? Er, that ship sailed long ago. While I think Irina is sexy, Bradley is just… not. Like, at all. Anyway, the new rumor is that Bradley proposed to Irina. The rumor happened because Irina stepped out with a giant emerald-and-diamond ring on that finger. You can see the photos here.

To me, emeralds don’t really say “engagement ring,” but I realize that’s not the most popular opinion. Like, I think emeralds are beautiful and I would love to own the ring Irina is wearing, but just to wear as a cocktail ring or something pretty, not as engagement ring. Emeralds are increasingly popular for engagements though. People are also comparing Irina’s ring to the Duchess of Cambridge’s sapphire, just because it seems to be an oval-ish colored stone with a diamond surround.
As for this alleged engagement, People Magazine ran several stories about Irina’s “very suspicious emerald ring on her left hand.” Every other outlet is doing the same. It should be noted (again) that Bradley’s rep is still staying completely silent.
As for the pregnancy, E! News had a story this week about how the baby is due in May and Irina is “feeling wonderful” and she and Bradley already know the sex of the kid. This E! story also insists that Bradley’s mom Gloria gets along really well with Irina. Sure.

Emeralds are beautiful, but since they are a fragile stone, they don’t make good “everyday” rings, as you would want for an engagement ring.
I have an emerald engagement ring. It’s beautiful and I’m really glad my husband picked a coloured stone as opposed to a diamond – it’s much more ‘me’. But it is fragile and I don’t wear it every day. It doesn’t bother me though, I like to keep my hands free of jewelry on a daily basis – it took me ages to get used to wearing a wedding ring every day.
Yes. Came here to say the same. Emeralds are gloriously beautiful when fresh cut from the jewelers. But they are so soft that any daily wear just ruins them.
I did not know this. I love emeralds and don’t care for diamonds at all so I always thought I would want emerald or non-traditional stone for an engagement ring.

Irina is one of my favourite models. Stunning and has a personality? Heck, I’d marry her.
People think it’s shady because while Bradley’s cleaned up NOW, there was a lot of shady stuff about him before he hit it big. It isn’t that he might be gay, it’s that there’s been a lot of really quiet chatter about him for a really long time that he’s not so nice to be in a relationship with.

Ruby is a type of corundum and very hard on the mohs scale – I think it’s an 9. Diamond is 10 and moissanite is 9.5. So rubies and sapphires make excellent daily wear rings.
Emerald, on the other hand is a 7.5 which makes it more susceptible to damage.
I don’t imagine Irina is doing much labor intensive work so it wouldn’t likely matter to her either way.
So many high-profile people have non-diamond engagement rings, and it’s trickled down. Diamond center stones have become passe, except for the Kardashian/Mariah Carey types out there who have to show that they have the biggest/best/most expensive.

I finally watched the Silver Linings Playbook and though I found it quite entertaining I think another actor would have made the movie into another level….he’s not charismatic and he doesn’t show any chemistry on screen.

It’s simple. She’s baiting him to commit. I’m not saying she’s trapping him with a baby, that’s not the case at all. She wants the ring. It’s clear for everyone to see. That was part of why she dumped Cristiano Ronaldo. She was basically a mother to Cristiano Jr and the idiot Ronaldo still wouldn’t commit.
Hopefully, Bradley will get the hint and propose. And please can we make it through this post without people calling him gay?. And from the tone on the “he’s gay” comments, they make it sound negative. We need to realise that hiding on comment boards to label people gay makes being gay look negative and does nothing for LGBTQ issues. Nevermind the “feminist” angle, but Irina Shayk is at the tail end of her career as a model. Her biggest earning days are most likely done – UNLESS she hooks up with a ‘name’ to help raise her profile (there’s a reason why VS actively encourages their models to date anyone with a recognizable name). I’m sure she made a nice living, but you have to hit HUGE contracts as a model in order to put away the kind of money that would keep her in the lifestyle she’s accustomed to as the +1 of some incredibly famous men (think about the cuts that go into taxes, management, agents, other expenses). She’s going for the “supermodel retirement plan”, hooking up with a super famous dude. Which, is totally her right. And why would Cooper go with something like this? Because it’s easy and straightforward. He gets companionship but doesn’t have to go through another messy public divorce, quells the rumors about his personal life, and doesn’t have to spend every event alone.

Not where my mind goes but I have been with my “husband” for 16 years and one kid and we just never saw the need for the marriage thing. And I consider myself quite conservative. Yes! I HATE how in DM a woman can’t just be seen in public,…. Instead she must be “showing off her post baby body” or “flaunting her bump”. It is so awful and creepy. But yeah claiming a dress “subtly shrouds her ‘pregnant’ figure” is a nadir even for DM.
A lot of people think something is not quite right about all of this. To me, she doesn’t even look pregnant, more like a little belly bloat. If you look at older photos of her through the years, you’ll see that she has a little belly from time to time. And, then there is the fact that Bradley hasn’t said anything and everything sounds like it’s coming from Irina’s side. Yeah, I agree that it all seems weird.
Melanie – What is the deal with the ridiculous conspiracy theories regarding these two? I’ve noticed people saying the same thing you are on other websites and quite frankly, it’s silly. Irina is pregnant. Her face, breasts, and the obvious baby bump at the VS show are proof. If she wasn’t pregnant, no way would reputable gossip outlets like People and E! report that she is and risk losing access to Bradley. Why would he make a statement when her appearance and eventual baby is all the statement needed?

I always fantasized about having a colored gem as my engagement ring. I would most likely go for a ruby or sapphire. I even love the color of morganite and aquamarine, but I wouldn’t dare go there with those two stones and have to hear it from my family.

You’re totally right, but my family used to own a jewelry store back in the 1970’s and they always talk about how certain stones weren’t worth much and now the industry is ripping people off by charging thousands for stones like aquamarine. Don’t get them started on the chocolate diamonds.
I just wanna say that they make a lot of movies down here where I live. And the party scene is also huge here. So combine those two things and stuff happens. Occasionally I’ve witnessed it. Other times I hear the gossip. My point is the stuff that DOESN’T make the gossip blogs is way more wild than what does. So I’m amused that people think it’s impossible that something shady is going on with Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk.
Celebrities choosing to not be honest or public about their sexuality for a number of reasons is very real. A good bit of a mainstream movie star’s typical target audience includes the deplorables. You can’t discount the impact of that. And this may also be relevant to the conversation, people who are also already a “name” sometimes supplement their income via prostitution. Some people do it before they become a name then stop once they have career success. Some continue depending on their own personal financial needs. All this stuff has happened right where I live.
Earlier this year, I witnessed with my own two eyeballs a female celebrity whose press is very caught up in her heterosexual relationship openly making out with another woman at a private party. All of us nobodies were huddled together whispering about it. None of the industry people batted an eyelash.
What we see as fans or whatever and what’s real are often two very different things. Just thought I’d throw that out there for you.

I’ve just never understood the rumors about Bradley’s sexuality. No one seems to be able to offer any real proof, a boyfriend’s name, or anything. People usually just mention blind items as their source of information, and who knows whether those are true.

I know Bradley’s ‘Kitchen Confidential’ co-star, actor Sam Pancake, who is gay, said in an interview awhile back that Bradley is straight, so I’m thinking he would know. He wasn’t asked specifically about Bradley’s sexuality either, just what it was like to work with him. Whatever. My opinion is that he’s straight. LOL
When the news of her pregnancy broke, there was a person on here who said that Bradley’s sister holly was on the message boards claiming that this story was shady and not to trust irina. I know Bradley manages a fan account for him on Facebook and Twitter, and she usually engages with the fans so I’m curious to see what happened with that
Brit – That was me. Bradley doesn’t manage any social media accounts. They’re all fan run. Holly never said not to trust Irina; just that she (Holly) didn’t believe the rumors as Bradley hadn’t told her anything prior to the news breaking.
Holly hasn’t mentioned anything else about the pregnancy or the engagement rumors. Why she engaged in commenting in the first place when her brother doesn’t is weird and pathetic tbh. Maybe that’s why he didn’t tell her about the baby news.
According to her Twitter page, she posts stuff that his publicist wants out there, so it sounds like she is in contact with his publicist, at least sometimes. Maybe they trust her to deliver messages on his behalf. And, how is it pathetic to clear up rumors about her own brother. She’s done it before. And, if I’m not mistaken, Cristiano’s sister did the same thing when there were rumors of him marrying Irina.

I think the only person that has really spilled the tea on who Bradley really is is his ex-wife Jennifer Esposito when she was trying to get her memoir sold. Though she never said his name she was pretty clear he was a jekyl and hyde type. Charming and loving one minute and cold and cruel the next and EVERYTHING is about Bradley for Bradley. She really had no place in his life as a wife. I never thought he was gay, but he doesn’t seem to have much sexuality to him. I bet he is a dead fish in bed.
