Anna Paquin gushes about ‘True Blood’ & live-in love Stephen Moyer

The next season of HBO’s hit Southern-gothic-vampire series True Blood is about to commence on June 14, so the show’s star Anna Paquin is beginning the publicity rounds. She appears on the cover of Hamptons magazine (story via Cover Awards) in an interview titled “Love Bites”. So original. Anna isn’t just talking about the show, though. She’s also gushing about her relationship with hottie Stephen Moyer. Stephen and Anna probably began dating about a year ago, and they now share a home together in Los Angeles. Anna is 26 years old, and Stephen is a 37 years old Briton, and a father of two.

Actress Anna Paquin looks stunning on the cover of the Memorial Day issue of Niche Media’s Hamptons Magazine and inside, the True Blood star opens up about her on and off-screen relationship, career success, and more.

Not only is True Blood a hit TV sensation but Anna Paquin also found love on set–the actress fell in love with costar Stephen Moyer and the couple have since moved in together.

She tells Hamptons magazine: “Steve and I had an a certain instant connection… It doesn’t hurt when the relationship on screen that you’re trying to create is one of attraction and fascination.”

Paquin goes on to say that her character, Sookie Stackhouse is “her own little action star” saying, “I get blooded and vomited on and beat up—everything that the girl doesn’t usually get to do in a show or film because they’re usually the girlfriend.”

On top of love and an exciting character, Paquin has also scored a Golden Globe win for her role. Though she’s not stranger to awards—she won an Oscar at the age of 9 for her performance in The Piano-Paquin says, “The Golden Globe feels pretty damn good because I’m an adult, and it’s the first major recognition I’ve had for my work as a non-child.”

She continues by stating, “Even though I’m only 26, I’ve been working since I was nine, so it feels like I worked for it.”

Golden Globe and Oscar aside, the A-list talent still remains grounded. She tells Hamptons magazine: “I came up through the ranks before the tabloid media became what it is currently. It wasn’t as much as a feeding frenzy. I guess that’s more good luck than good management. There was very little time to be affected, and my family didn’t value that. I was usually at work or at school or at home doing my homework.”

[From Cover Awards]

I’ve never seen True Blood, but I am a fan of Paquin’s and Stephen Moyer is pretty hot, so I’d probably like it. True Blood became a word-of-mouth hit last year, and my guess is that Paquin will continue to be nominated for the big television acting awards.

I found this semi-preview of the second season from Entertainment Weekly that the fans will probably like – the guy seems to be saying that he became a convert only after seeing how the characters grew and filled out throughout the entirety of the first season: “True Blood just kept getting better and better, and I’m officially eager to see Season Two when it starts June 14. Paquin’s Sookie and Moyer’s vampire Bill [moved] to the center of the saga as the season progressed, and became rich, complex characters. I also liked the way the series upped the stakes, so to speak, on most of the key players… But beyond filling in the chartacters’ backstories, True Blood improved as an exciting vampire tale, with lots of suspenseful, startling moments.”

So, vampire-lovers, you’ve got something to look forward to now that the networks are going into reruns! God knows we can’t just sit around waiting for Robert Pattinson to materialize.

Love the books. Haven’t seen the seris yet. Have seen the previews online. HATE the accents. As a true blue born and bread louisiana native I cringe everytime they open their mouths. You would think that these movies and tv shows would spend sometime in the area they are portraying and hire a voice coach or something. NOT ALL SOUTHERNERS SOUND LIKE GONE WITH THE WIND!!!

  2. Sanna says:

They started dating about 2 years ago, actually. They met at the audition and apparently hit it off there and then they started to date around the shooting of the pilot or something. So it’s close to 2 years. And Stephen is actually 39, soon 40, but I know it can be hard to know since alost everyone says different about his age, lol

I’m now on book 6 and have yet to see the series but I’m curious how closely it follows the books. I’m assuming it won’t as closely because of what happens between Sookie and Bill pretty early on in the series. I plan to try to watch season 1 before season 2 starts on sunday!

    gushing about her love
oh…kiss of death for a celebrity love relationship,

Saw a few episodes of the series (before losing cable) — it was good, but the books are EVEN BETTER! I just got the first disks from the show via netflix and can’t wait to see the whole series.

I also loved Dexter, but the books the show is based on were really not that good. The premise came from the book and not much else of value. The True Blood series is an excellent read.

I started watching the series when it debuted and then went back and read all the books after Season 1 was over. The show runs pretty close to the books but different enough to stand alone. Tara’s role is quite different, some storylines are given more time but overall its close enough to give those who love the books a great time.

And even some of the Bill/Sookie reveals in later books seem like they’ll make it into the series. Small touches in the dialogue that you maybe wouldn’t understand otherwise make that point painfully obvious once you’ve read the books.

I love this show!! Can’t wait for season 2 to start!

  8. w0ww0w says:

I read the books first and loved them! I was even able to get my friend who doesn’t like the whole vampire thing to watch the show and now she absolutely loves it!

  9. dew says:

With a few exceptions, the show is pretty close to the books. In the show, Tara gets a lot more time than in the books, but since I like what the show’s doing with Tara, I’m over it 8^)

There were some complaints about the graphic sex scene in the pilot, some calling it gratuitous. But the scene gave us a lot of insight into how her brother feels about vampires: repulsed, yet fascinated, even to the point of arousal. So because of that, I don’t think the graphic scene was gratuitous, but it was over-the-top in my opinion. I’m guessing it’s because the director is male, and he’s trying to sex up the show.

Other than the cops, most of the men’s haircuts are atrocious. Do they really think men from LA never get their hair styled/cut?

Anna’s accent is too twangy and sounds more deep south than LA. But Bill’s accent is ridiculous. House can get away with a Brit doing a generic US accent, but don’t use Brits for southern accents, especially LA, because theirs is unique from the rest of the south (as per a Houstonian that’s traveled through LA to get to Ala frequently, as well as waiting on oil-worker Cajuns when I worked restaurants and bars).

She was AMAZING in the piano – back when child actors weren’t hypnotize to be overly-mature professions – she was natural and definitely deserve that oscar when she was 9.

The show is pretty cool, entertaining and kinda dirty.

  11. dovesgate says:

Most of the men in the show are vampires… vampire lore says their bodies are pretty much frozen as they were at the point of death. Ergo, the vamps should have more “classic” hairstyles. The human characters look like any human anywhere, but somewhat close to the book.

I love, love, loved the series so much I ran out and bought all the books. Is the new one out yet? LOL. There is plenty of juicy stuff left to cover so I hope this series gets a fantastically long “Sex and the City” type run.

  12. Allikitty says:

The latest book “Dead and Gone” came out May 5th. I was not really impressed with it, and I have read all of them.

  13. GaGa says:

These two nauseate me. I wish SOMEONE else out there would agree. Stephen is a manwhore and Anna is just annoying. The hotties on the show are Alexander Skarsgard and Ryan Kwanten.

  14. ChristinaT says:

yeah i’ll give this relationship about 1 year… i got this figure from a complicated mathematical formula where basically the amount of gushing is inversely proportional to the length of the relationship…

  15. Ling says:

I am waiting with baited breath for the second season. I do want to read the books but I’m so enamored of the way the characters are portrayed onscreen that I worry about being too biased. I’m not sure I could deal with the lack of TV-Tara.

But I’m a bookworm so I’ll give it a shot.

Somehow, the fact that Paquin and Moyer are actually dating sours the bill/sookie adorableness somewhat.

  16. tinat says:

I love the books…and enjoy the series, but they aren’t remotely similar IMO,except the vamps.
Tara isn’t in the book’s, at least not the smart mouth down on her luck, has a bad momma black girl Tara shown on TV. In the books isn’t she white and owns a boutique LOL, not even close to similar. And in the books Jason is around and all but in the series, he’s a featured, and very freaky playa.
The books are witty and light even when dealing with all the supernatural thriller aspects…the series, well it’s HBO, so it’s graphic and full of sex and real weirdness.
Each should be appreciated on their own merits

  17. TinaWithPom says:

Love the books. The series is amazing. And, of course, I’m a longtime fan of Anna.

  18. ChristinaT says:

i like her look though. i think it’s interesting. and that gap in her tooth actually looks good on her oddly enough.

  19. heather acq says:

i think the show is a great translation of the books as i’m glued to both. the cast is orgas-mazing. 🙂 oh, my loins!
anna’s got a killer body. she makes me want to work out harder! and because alan ball is behind all this, i’m now curious to see ‘six feet under.’

  20. Nixe says:

I loved the first season. And Stephen Moyer is too hot for words as the Vampire Bill. They actually make a nice couple, I hope it works out for them.

  21. DiMi says:

I love the show. They made me read the books. I love that they made Tara black and beefed up her character – she’s my favorite.

This is one of the few couples that looks good despite a major age difference.

  22. Timothy says:

true blood is one of the better shows coming out lately

  23. babay says:

I thought something was happening before us. These two just seem to blend into one another and a special glow would appear on annas face when they would be talking or engaging in a kiss or two. But i’m happy for them just the same and hope they will have a prosperous marriage in every area of their life. But please don’t stop appearing in the episodes of True Blood you guys have me on total suspense waiting for the next episode. Good luck to you both.
