Did you know that they’re making a sixth Mission: Impossible movie? It’s true. Christopher McQuarrie will direct, and some of the old band is getting back together, like Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson and Simon Pegg. They’re adding some new people too, like… Henry Cavill. Personally, I think Cavill’s career is in a place where he doesn’t have to play Tom Cruise’s “right hand man” in an MI film, but that’s what’s happening. It seems that Cruise is also insisting that they bring in a hot young actress, probably to play his love interest. And Cruise allegedly knows just who he wants: Vanessa Kirby, one of the stars of The Crown. Apparently he wants her to be his next CoS-bot wife?

Tom Cruise has not had a serious love interest since he divorced Katie Holmes in 2012. But the 54-year-old actor has now fallen for his Mission: Impossible 6 co-star Vanessa Kirby, 28, who he cast after seeing in the TV series The Crown, according to a Wednesday report from InTouch Weekly. It was also claimed the action star could very well make her his fourth wife as he is interested in settling down now that his beloved mother Mary Lee Pfeiffer died at the age of 80 in February. A source told the publication that he loved how Vanessa played Princess Margaret in The Crown, a Netflix show.

‘Tom flipped for her work,’ a source said. ‘He told the other MI producers that he had to have Vanessa for a crucial role in the franchise’s sixth installment.’ Once he got her on set, they had ‘instant chemistry,’ it was alleged. That led to her getting the role right away, it was claimed.

‘He’s blown away by her endless charm and energy,’ a source insisted.

Now the Top Gun icon is thinking of a future with the blonde British star, it was claimed.

‘He wants to make her the next Mrs Tom Cruise,’ a source said.

The beauty was born in Wilmbledon and studied at Exeter University. She got her start in theater and then started making movies such as Jupiter Ascending with Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum.

The last we heard, Tom Cruise was pretty much living in England full-time, working on movies back-to-back and living a relatively quiet life. In fact, last October, Us Weekly claimed that he was quietly settling down with a non-famous British woman. Maybe that relationship never existed, or maybe it fell apart. Who knows? He’s so undercover these days. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wishes he could date some pretty, 20-something actress and program her to be his wife. But is Vanessa Kirby the one? The vibe she gives off is that she has too much sense for any of that.

In other Tom Cruise news, a new biography of Sherry Lansing is coming out and it includes a story about Tom feeling “persecuted” because of his Scientology beliefs. While the story is presented as a happy one – Tom helped a non-Scientologist get a no-drama divorce from a Scientologist – the subtext is pretty creepy. Go here to read the story.
