Hilary Duff’s older sister Haylie has definitely had a nose job. Though she didn’t splash it on the cover of a magazine with a confessional article (a la Ashlee Simpson), it’s clear to anyone with eyes (at least anyone with eyes who happens to be looking at Haylie Duff) that she’s gone under the knife. And while I never believe people should feel pressured to “fix” parts of their bodies that have the nerve to deviate from the norm, in Haylie’s case it is an improvement.
I’m not a fan of the notion that there should be just a few ways our bodies can look, and anything else needs to be corrected. But Haylie’s nose and chin did make her the subject of some ridicule, and it no doubt bothered her since she’s changed them. I hesitate to say “fixed” since that implies there was something wrong with them before.
Haylie Duff looked a lot more like her younger sibling Hilary Duff when she debuted a new blonde ’do, pert nose and small chin while out shopping at the AG Adriano Goldschmied store in Beverly Hills on May 21.
“Haylie had her nose done and her chin reduced,” New York City–based plastic surgeon Dr. Thomas P. Sterry, who has not treated Haylie, tells Star, explaining that Haylie’s nose has been shortened, angled upward and rounded off.
“I think they made her chin smaller by chipping away at the bone,” he adds.
Haylie’s altered appearance, which costs an estimated $20,000, looks like a million bucks!
“This is a good job,” notes Dr. Sterry. “I think Haylie’s features have better harmony.” Hilary would approve!

Though the nose is the first thing you go to, I think the chin actually makes the bigger difference in Haylie’s appearance. Her nose didn’t really stand out when you were looking at her straight on – it was only in profile shots that you’d notice something was a bit unusual. But her chin was a bit long from any angle. That said, while it is an improvement, I’m actually not a big fan of how her chin ended up. I think the doctor overdid it a bit. It’s fine, but I think he could have left a little more there and she would have looked more like herself. Haylie looks great, but doesn’t look as much like Haylie. I always think of what “Dirty Dancing” star Jennifer Grey said after she got her nose job – that she never looked like herself again. It was technically good work – but it made Grey look like everyone else in Hollywood, and there was nothing about her face that made her unique. And it must be strange to always look in the mirror and feel a little bit jarred.
Haylie looks good – and hopefully she’s really pleased with the results, which is ultimately all that matters.

She had a really long nose and chin but I thought they looked nice! Now they’re stubby like everyone elses
meh. she’s still uggo.
I actually liked her nose (not to have for myself or anything) but I thought it went well with her face, like balanced out her other features. The tip was cute. It’s hard to tell from just that pic, but it seems like she’s completely different looking now. I liked her unique face. LOL is that really her??
While I don’t advocate plastic surgery, I do think it’s a personal choice. That being said, I don’t understand why celebs get plastic surgery after they’ve already been in the public eye for quite some time so it becomes completely obvious. If they felt uncomfortable or hindered by their looks, why wouldn’t they choose to have surgery before?
ima, it may be because they didn’t have the money to do it before they gained fame and popularity. I do agree – it’s a personal choice. She looks good.
That second photo almost looks like Lady Gaga from the side. Are you sure that’s Haylie????
I also think her chin was reduced too much.
She looks like a completely different person.
While you state that you are against plastic surgery, and that people should not feel pressured to alter their appearances to fit into the “norm”, using the word “fixed” in the title of this article implies that there was something wrong about her appearance in the first place.
I actually preferred it before she got the nose job. Actually, she just looks strange now.
She still can’t act.
At first glance, I thought the “new” Haylie was Julia Roberts!
‘I think they made her chin smaller by chipping away at the bone,” he adds.’
I wonder if Rumer Willis is contemplating this kind of surgery.
She looks like all the rest of the Hollywood bimbos now. Her unique look is gone….and she looks boring now. Rumer Willis could get her chin shaved down too. There is a procedure called “jaw reduction surgery.”
Something about “chipping away at the bone” is giving me the heebies.
i dunno. the before picture is a GORGEOUS picture of her and the after doess’t give a good perspective on her new look. Judging by the header i’d say she looked better and more unique before. I need more evidence.
She obviously didn’t go to her sister’s plastic surgeon.
She looks ok, although I think she didn’t look bad before, unlike Rumor who I believe would look really beautiful if she would have a jaw reduction.
what took her so long? i was honestly counting down the minutes before she’d get one…
i have a dream, that someday… women will have role models who’s primary goal isn’t shaving down the length of their chin… le sighhhhh
I hate to pick over people’s faces, but when have moral scruples ever stopped me before?
I think they took too much off her chin. It looks a bit squared off in profile.
To be perfectly honest, though, her “after” picture seems to look more like her, to the point where I thought the “before” picture was her altered face and I was going, “Holy botch job, batman!”
In the second photo she looks a lot like Jodie Sweetin.
Ugh, She was much prettier before. I agree with HEB, she looks stubby. Like everyone else.. boring.
I think she looked like a cartoon witch before and now she looks fairly normal.
I would be very insecure about my looks if I had an abnormally long chin and nose.
There is nothing wrong with getting plastic surgery for troubles with self-esteem about your personal appearance.
She’s still ugly.
The ugliness wasn’t just in her chin and her nose. Sorry . Still fug.
Her old nose always looked like a bad nose job. The correction does look much better. How do they reduce a chin? LIke file it down? Yuck + ouch.
She really resembles Jennifer Aniston in that “after” picture.
And I think she was much more natural and much prettier “before”. For some reason, it just never looks quite right when someone has work done…
when did being unique become bad?
jayem – EXACTLY what I was thinking – my first thought was “Oh, she got the Jennifer Aniston…” lol
I never noticed anything wrong with her chin before. Her nose was a bit of a schnozz but schnozzes can be great. She looks boring now, but if she’s happy that’s all that matters I guess.
At least she is still recognizable as herself. I could stare at Jennifer Grey 24/7 for a month, and still not be able to pick her out of a crowd.
Accepting yourself changes you ( for the better and more beautiful )from the inside out. It is nightmarish to try to change your facial beauty from the outside in, for you are branding the most visible aspect of your body with self-loathing.
She should have saved the money on fixing the face, and invested it into tits, cuz, no real guy is going to look at her face with a big set of fun bags staring at them.
She looks much better now. Her chin was too long.
I think that people with more angular jaws (before pic) tend to age better. I’ll have to wait to see the view from the front but it seems like she went from unique to ordinary.
…but that house is cute.
i think she looks waaay better they could have taken a lil off the nose but i bet theyll take more off theyre just doing it slowly so the change isnt so dramatic
I love you you in me sex you go me xoxoxoxoxooxoxooxoxoxoxoox
sex me in you xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
i think she looked way prettier on he before picture.. i find nothing wrong with her chin.. i think it made her stand out out of anybody else.. I think it’s a person’s uniqueness and confidence that make her pretty and stand out.. Like angelina jolie for instance.. having very pouted and thick lips were considered ugly
before.. But because of angelina’s confidence, that standard of beauty did not change her but instead she was the one who changed that standard. And now people are paying millions just to get lips like hers..and she’s now one of the most beautiful women in the world..I think women should change their mindset about what beauty really is.. because you really can’t put beauty in a box haha..
