Surprise! @carrieunderwood came out and rocked the anthem in Nashville. #StanleyCup pic.twitter.com/HQJ8Z9TJC2

It’s always sweet to see a spouse support their partner in their professional endeavors, right? Take, for example, singer Carrie Underwood. Not only was the country crooner present to see her hubby, Mike Fisher, take to the ice in a playoff game between his Nashville Predators and the Chicago Blackhawks, she also surprised the home crowd with a lovely rendition of the National Anthem to kick off the game.
The 34-year-old singer has been vocally supportive of her hubby, who is captain of the NHL squad, and has used her social media accounts to cheer the Predators onto the Stanley Cup Playoffs. She’s been dubbed the team’s good luck charm, going so far as to paint her fingers and toes with the team’s colors.
On Monday night, Carrie donned a #12 jersey (Mike’s number, obviously) and also rocked a Preds hat, which she modeled on Instagram.
After the announcer at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena said, “Please rise and welcome seven-time Grammy winner and longtime Nashville Predators fan Carrie Underwood,” the singer received a thunderous ovation from the amped-up crowd. The reception was so overwhelming, you can see Carrie say “Whoa” before launching into an American Idol-worthy performance. After singing the anthem, Carrie joined the crowd in the team’s traditional towel wave. She later tweeted, “This @PredsNHL crowd is INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
This @PredsNHL crowd is INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lending to the theory that Carrie is the team’s good luck charm, Nashville defeated Chicago in overtime and the Blackhawks are down 3-0. If Nashville moves forward, they will most likely face the St. Louis Blues, who are currently 3-0 against the Minnesota Wild. Carrie may need to stock up on some more nail polish.
Carrie is like the anti-Jessica Simpson, isn’t she? I think it’s awesome that she’s so supportive of Mike. Of course, live hockey, especially during the playoffs, is super exciting. It wouldn’t take much to get me to the rink. I grew up a Tampa Bay Lightning fan, so I’ve got no horse in this race anymore. I guess, go, Nashville!

fish used to play for my team, and was seriously one of the nicest guys around, so i will always have a soft spot for him, but… GO SENS.
Let’s do this Juice!!!
GO SENS GO!!!
I’m going for the Flames but good lord are we getting our asses kicked…
So … go sens!
Absolutely the best guy! I grew up in Ottawa too and Fisher still has a sterling rep in the city. Once, my older sister(also a huge hockey fan) saw him eating lunch with his agent near her office. This was like 2 days after the Sens had suffered a crushing playoff loss to the Pens. She and her colleague decided to approach him to thank him for the good season. His agent was kind of dickish but Mike spent like 10 minutes talking with them, taking pictures, and thanking them for supporting the team.
On another note, Go Sens Go!
I once saw Carrie and Mike at a Japanese restaurant down on the market. It was quite late and the place was almost empty so no one was bothering them. Also my daughter saw Carrie shopping at the Shoppers Drug Mart in Kanata. Obviously before Fisher left the Sens.
I was friendly with his younger brother in college – they are a great family all around!
Sorry Carry, you’re cool and all but oh man, this years hockey is insane.
My partner is a diehard leafs fan, and I’m now a semi fan, but they’ve just pulled a second win , in a series it was expected they’d be crushed. Matthews, Marner and Neelander have been on fire, the old boys are bringing it. So excited for the next game.
Hubs is a Leaf fan and I have to say, Babcock has done a great job with that team.
Has he ever. I was excited for a rebuild, but I never thought they’d get this far. Babs has worked a miracle. He’s completely changed Kadris game for the better as well, which honestly is more impressive to me.
Babs and Lou for the win.
GO LEAFS GO!!!!!
And speaking of good luck charms, I read that Dart Guy will be at the next game 😀
Have you guys ever seen the silver foxes behind the Leafs bench?! Very tanned, older gentlemen and very well dressed with a goatee: I would LOVE to see them in a commercial!! I notice them almost every game…

am dying at dart guy. i hope he enjoys his 15, and gets a few free games out of it.
Leafs all the way ! It’s their year.
What a lovely voice!
May I nitpick here? No matter how big a fan of the home team you are, you’re singing the national anthem for the ENTIRE crowd. You should wear something appropriately neutral and change into your fan gear afterwards. Tacky, IMO.
Yeah it’s not rude exactly, tacky is the right word. You didn’t sing for the predators you sang for every player of that nationality and every fan.
If they are local singers (which is normally the case), they will wear the home team jersey. It would be blank on the back, but the home team none the less.
Disagree. It was a home game, not tacky to show support at home. Tacky would be to agree to sing it at a Chicago home game wearing a predator jersey.
Not tacky. Totally normal. Hometown singer wears hometown colors. Especially during the playoffs. The only anthem singers who do not wear team colors are the Military, Police or Fire Department singers who come in uniform. I’ve seen members of the New York City Opera perform the national anthem at Madison Square Garden wearing Lundqvist jerseys.
I would like hear Carrie sing “Oh, Canada”, but that will not happen before the third round, if by some miracle Nashville keeps going and either Calgary or Edmonton makes it that far. I suspect Calgary may be packing their bags tonight and looking for tee times tomorrow.
I’m a long-time NY Rangers fan and would love to see a Smashville/Rangers matchup in the finals, but I just don’t see my beloved Rangers getting that far. It will be Pittsburgh in the East again (and I loathe Crosby).
I live in Nashville and am a HUGE Predators fan. We have season tickets. Carrie comes to all the games that she’s in town for, however I don’t remember her ever having sung at the games before. She has made an effort for hockey and the Predators to be Mike’s thing and hasn’t wanted to pull focus off of him and the team. BTW, Mike is so awesome, so nice. I met him out one night during the lockout.
I cannot STAND this chick!
Why?
Agree. I cannot stand this chick. So full of herself. Every time she opens her mouth to speak she sounds dumber.
Go Preds, Corey, how could you.
GO BLUES ( although we are essentially the same team, I am scared of Pekka Renne. When he is on, he is a beast) !!!
That girl can SANG!!! Carrie rocks!
I love that Carrie actively supports Mike and the Preds. And she sang beautifully. I got chills several times during her rendition.
However, I’m a Hawks fan. Go Hawks Go!
Well since my Dallas Stars folded like a cheap suit this season (sniff, sniff………WHY??????)…..I’m all about the Predators now. They have been taking Chicago to the woodshed, hehe
Hawks fan here too. Ugh, they are killing me! Don’t think I’ve seen a national anthem with someone in a team jersey. They definitely don’t do that here. They always bring veterans out, and the singer is in a suit. Carrie still annoys me for some reason, but she did a great job. Why not take advantage of her voice if she’s there.
She’s so talented and pretty yes opposite of Simpson!
Oilers watcher here! Our anthem singer wears a team jersey and goes into the stands to sing
with the crowd around him. It’s awesome to see and hear!!!
yay Oilers!!
She’s growing on me. Slowly.
Wasn’t it Lainey that called her Country Bitch? Still makes me chuckle.
I think marriage and parenthood have…made her a little more chill, likeable, less icy.
