Gwen Stefani may be starting a new magazine with print mogul Jane Pratt, former head of the magazines “Jane,” and our favorite glossy in our teen years, “Sassy.” Women’s Wear Daily reports that Stefani is in final talks with Pratt for the project, which would “include book and online components” and involve Stefani’s record label, Interscope:
The magazine’s target audience is unknown. While Pratt has said she wants to start a magazine for women over 35, Stefani’s involvement suggests that they want to attract younger readers.
The article has a negative slant about Pratt, stating that she was “forced out of her namesake magazine after endless antics” and deriding the success of her other projects since leaving “Jane.” It turns out that “Women’s Wear Daily” is owned by the same parent company as “Jane,” and seems to be holding a grudge against Pratt.
Not surprisingly, WWD is pessimistic about the chances of a successful venture between the two. Talks might need to be put on hold to give Stefani time to focus on her new baby. Stefani, 36, is due to have her first child with husband Gavin Rossdale in just over a month.
