Dances With The Stars pros Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovsky got married over the weekend. The couple, who are parents to six-month-old Shia, rented Oheka Castle in Long Island to serve as the backdrop to the lavish affair. The picture above was posted by the people hired to do the photo booth and the backdrop was a giant flower wall. It looks a little like Maks is trying to eat Peta. The location is idyllic as a venue if you favor a big wedding. Itâs the best part of Taylor Swiftâs Blank Space video, IMO. Following the ceremony was a party Maks said was, âgoing to be an epic dance party for the ages,â which I guess stands to reason given the couple and attendants.
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd, mother of their 6-month-old son Shai and a fellow Dancing With the Stars pro, have tied the knot at Oheka Castle on Long Island, a rep confirms to E! News.
The outlet also reports that the non denominational ceremony was 40 minutes long and that the vows they exchanged in front of 300 guests were self penned.
A source tells E! News that the wedding was a very “elegant and classic” affair, adding that Peta’s makeup artist prepped her and her mother. The aim for the wedding makeup look was to go for a natural style with lashes and a pink lip.
Maks opted for an all-white tuxedo jacket and his groomsmen donned white tuxedo jackets with black trim.
As previously reported by E! News, the Ukrainian and the Kiwi were slated to (and did!) exchange their vows in the 137-room Oheka Castle on Long Island, New York in front of family and friends, including his brother and co-star Val Chmerkovskiy his season 20 partner and actress Rumer Willis, fellow DWTS pro dancer Sharna Burgess and season 18 contestant and Fuller House star Candace Cameron Bure.
So was the entire guest list family and former DWTS contestants? On the one hand, itâs great that they bonded with their dance partners so well. On the other hand, maybe step away from work every once in a while – mix up the social circle a little? One of those DWTS partnerâs, Nyle DiMarco, had posted a bunch of pictures from the wedding to his Instagram but theyâve since been taken down as Peta and Maks sold the pics to Us Weekly. Weâll get those next week. For now we just have some fan pages and the ones that E! and People captured before they disappeared. Hopefully they won’t be taken down before you can see them.
However, we do have a few more details like Petaâs dress was a Karen Sabag Couture ball gown and that her shoes were purchased in Maksâ native Ukraine on Petaâs first trip visiting there. The photo posted above indicates there was a dress switch at some point, her ceremony gown is shown below. Shai was carried down the aisle by Petaâs mom and Peta processed down the aisle to Tchaikovskyâs Nutcracker Suite, because thatâs her favorite album (itâs my favorite classical album too, not that anyone asked). From the photographic evidence we have, everyone seems to have had a wonderful time and it sounds like exactly what the couple wanted. When it comes to weddings, thatâs all that matters, isnât it?
Off topic: I kind of wish Peta would hyphenate because typing out Peta Chmerkovskiy-Murgatroyd enough times might qualify as a workout.
Maks is still trying to eat poor Peta – stick to the buffet, Maks!

Oh, yay! I love them. I think Peta dances better than anyone on the planet and Maks is pretty good as well. Long may they swing!
Weird that they got married the same weekend as Julianne Hough. Seems like they had to split the DWTS work friends.
that’s what i thought too….
Not really though since they are not friends with the same people from the show.
How do you figure that?
Derek Hough said himself that it didn’t matter that the weddings were on the same day because they have different friends, so there you go. But it’s well known to fans of DWTS that there have always been two rival cliques – the Hough/Ballas clique and the Chermkovskiy clique – and they claim to get along but they really don’t.
@Abby
It is pretty well known by fans of DWTS. While the dancers get along ok on the show, there are cliques. So there was never going to be a dilemma because it is unlikely the same people were invited to both weddings.
Ok gotcha. I used to watch religiously but it’s even quite a few years so I don’t know the inside drama or anything.
Tony is part of Maks’ clique. Hope he was there.
she looks lovely in both outfits. And what better than have professional dancers at your wedding?!
Her dresses were hideous. Which I expected.
I did not like her gown. The bottom looked like shredded rags.
Wait is that Rumor Willis???? She looks PHENOMENAL!
Treated herself to some lip filler, it appears.
All 3 of those bridesmaids went heavy on the lip filler.
YES. I thought she looked absolutely stunning. I don’t know what she’s done … but it’s working for her. And she looked really happy.
I kind of think the bridesmaids look better than the bride. Peta’s hair is not something I’m a fan of. It’s so tight and harsh looking.
I believe she is newly sober.
I agree. Just gorgeous!
I don’t love her dress. It is massive. But, I hope she felt pretty!
That flower wall reminds me of the one at the Kimye wedding.
That is the ugliest dress. Oh god.
But they look happy. Blessings!
I’ve been to friends’ weddings at Oheka Castle, it’s beautiful. It’s always weird to me when I hear of people who, no doubt have more resources than I can ever dream of, getting married at the same place as my friends. (not at all criticizing the choice – it really is lovely, just saying it’s weird to think my friend Julie and people who are on tv share a wedding venue).
I agree! I know a few people who have gotten married there and it’s funny to see celebrities at the same place.
She looks lovely.
Did Amber Rose go? I loved the friendship she formed with Maks!
I wish Sharna goes back to her normal hair color. That candy colored clown hair does nothing for me. She’s been wearing that for awhile.
