In “feeling old yet?” news, the movie Titanic is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Can you believe that? The movie’s stars, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane and Leonardo DiCaprio, reunited on Tuesday at the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation St. Tropez Gala in France. Billy shared a photo of the trio on Instagram, with the caption, “Gangs back together. Now we’re saving icebergs. Go figure…”
Billy donated one of his paintings for a charity auction during the event, which sold for almost $117,000. He posed with his art and Kate for another Instagram post. Time has been very good to these two. Kate, who is 41, looks absolutely amazing.
The auction item that generated the most interest was a dinner with Kate and Leo in New York City. Proceeds from the auction will go toward both the foundation’s causes, as well as a GoFundMe campaign that Kate supports through her Golden Hat Foundation to help a young mother in the U.K. to pay for her cancer treatment.
The assembled crowd for the gala, which included Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto, Tom Hanks and Emma Stone, were entertained by Lenny Kravitz and Madonna, who performed hits including “Ray of Light” and “La Isla Bonita,” as seen in some grainy fan footage.

The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation which is “dedicated to the long-term health and well-being of all Earth’s inhabitants,” has made more than $80 million in grants to environmental causes since its formation in 2008 but exists under a shroud of controversy, with the the U.S. Department of Justice investigating alleged funding for the organization that came from the embezzlement of more than $3 billion from a Malaysian sovereign wealth fund. Leo also got some heat in May of 2016 for behavior not befitting the frontman of en environmental charity, when he took a private jet from New York to France to collect an environmental award. Whoops. I do hope the money raised at this week’s gala goes where it’s needed.
Full disclosure, I am not a fan of Titanic. There, I said it. However, the story of how it got made is interesting, if you’re into Hollywood history, and I’m sure there will be lots more to come as the official December 19 anniversary of the movie’s original release gets closer.

Titanic is not a great movie, and DiCaprio, IMO, has never been that good-looking. There, I said it, too!
preach! you could also add: celebrities charities and foundations are a scam for tax breaks.
So sad but so true!
That’s what I used to think too. I never got the hype and I still don’t.
But I actually saw him in the flesh at a work event a few years ago and he looked really good!
I was completely shocked.
I have never seen the film so don’t tell me how it ends.
Lol
LOL!!! @Baum 😀
I recommend the alternate ending, where Gloria Stuart proves herself a monster.
As a history teacher I saw the movie when it first came out and there were two teenage girls in front of me in the theater. When they hit the iceberg and the ship started to sink, they were aghast and when Jack (spoiler)…
died, they wailed. My friend and I cried, laughing. I leaned forward and said, “you know this is based on a true story, right?” Meaning the ship. They took it as if Jack and Rose were real. *head desk*
I had to go back and see the movie again to get the full impact of Leo’s character biting the big one. Later, I joined the Titanic society. I’m completely over that now. In fact recently, I gave the movie to my goddaughter, but didn’t spoil it for her. 😅
Billy Zane waiting for that Telly Savalas biopic.
And Leo would be perfect if they ever make a live-action movie about the Pillsbury Doughboy. I bet he giggles if you poke him in the tummy with your finger. LOL
Ahaha I think he ilooks like a poor mans Jack Nicholson without access to soap and water.
Billy Zane looks exactly the same!
20 yrs already
I feel so old
And back calculating, I was lot younger than I thought I was when the movie released
On charity gala topic: no comments 😑
Best is always when you spend more on charity and less on show
I find Winslet and Dicaprio insufferable on their own, but I buy that they possess a mutual fondness for each other. It’s sweet. That said, Titanic’s one of the worst movies ever.
I fell asleep about halfway through. The storyline was interminable and I remember thinking “just sink already and get on with the awesome special effects!”
I completely agree!
This is throwback Friday! First a Willa Ford story and now Titanic! I am loving it! It brings me back to my twenties. I loved Titanic. I still do to this day. It was a beautiful movie. I remember the elderly members in my family use to talk about the Titanic sinking and how tragic it was. One of my family members use to show me the original newspaper clippings about the sinking when I was a little girl.
I was so mad that it took so long for the d@mn sinking to get underway. I came for the action, not the sappy love story!
Leo was very pretty back then. Kate has gotten prettier since. Billy looks the same. Handsome dude. Billy seems to have a lot of showbiz pals. I’m gonna take that to mean he’s a normalizing force in his fellow celeb’s lives until proven otherwise.
Leo looks like my grampa!
That top pic — looks like she’s been messing with her face again. Which, I get it, it’s Hollywood and women have to do what they have to do to still get jobs. But just don’t freakin’ lie about it, as if (1) the public is stupid and we can’t see the difference, and (2) she’s just soooo genetically superior to other actresses who do get work done. Please.
That’s one of the few oldies that Madonna still likes to sing.
But who won the dinner with Leo & Kate? And how much did it sell for? Inquiring minds need to know! 🙂
