Holy 1970s! Kate Hudson’s Cosmopolitan cover is… something. To be honest, I kind of love those ‘70s stripes and I used to own a more muted, less cleavagey sweater that had a similar striped ‘70s vibe. I wish I still had that sweater…? It was awesome. Anyway, Kate Hudson is here. I guess she’s promoting her new party-planning book? Sure, why not. Kate chats with Cosmo about health, shaving her head and good advice. Note: this is the same interview where she talked about C-sections being “lazy,” which we already discussed.
To me, being healthy means: “Staying connected! Tuning in and listening to what your body needs. Exercise, meditation, sleep, etc.
My happiest moment in the last year was: “Working with Sia on our special project and knowing that no matter what, I will always have a lifelong friend in her. What a beautiful person.
My post-sweat-session beauty hacks: “Shaving your head. Cuts down on time spent post-sweat.
When I’m on the verge of a meltdown, the first person I call is: “Oliver Hudson (my brother) … to make me laugh.
The best advice he ever gave me was: “Nobody cares! There’s about 7 plus billion people in the world who don’t give a sh-t.”
I’m constantly amazed by women who can shave their heads for fashion or work reasons. I think that’s partly why I have an aversion to short haircuts in general, because I could never chop off most of my hair. What would I do without hair??? The mind boggles. I guess I would probably have easier workouts, because I’m sure my hair is contributing to how hot I get. I also like the advice about nobody caring – that’s great advice for celebrities in particular, who surround themselves with people who tell them that they are the greatest thing and everyone is paying attention to their every move (even when they’re a C-list nobody).

I can’t. It’s Friday. Lol
I know Kate’s c section comment (and a few others over the years ) ruffles feathers, but all in all I too am kind of a kate apologist. She does seem to not take herself too seriously, and after reading a few self indulgent interviews as of late, I find her refreshing.
I had short hair through my 20s. While I loved it, it still took a lot of work (@20 min) with a round brush (I have naturally wavy/curly hair). I *hated* getting sweaty (and rain, and humidity) because that meant. Had to wash/style it again lol. After almost 10 yrs I finally grew it out. That meant 45 min. of work lol. Flash forward 20 yrs., and after having chemo for Leukemia, my hair was gone. While I did like the “ease”, it was not an”freeing” feeling. However, I decided to keep my hair short, and now, I AM loving it. 5 min. And I’m out of the bathroom! Sometimes, I do have a pang to grow it out, and then I remember… 45 MINUTES! Lol. Nope! 😊
I had a benign brain tumor treated this summer and they warned me that I might get bald patches from the radiation, so I grew out my much-beloved pixie into a short bob to better hide them. Luckily, I didn’t have much hair loss and my new ‘do looks great, but I really miss my pixie cut! I think this style might be more flattering on me, though. I think I just hate that I primarily changed it because of medical stuff, not because I really wanted to. I hope you have a clean bill of health from now on!!
Thank you, Venus. I wish the same for you! {{Hugs!}}
I hope you are healing fast. I had a brain surgery when I was 23 and I went to the hairdresser one day earlier to have my hair shaven…well, I did not really go back to long hair afterwards. It’s been 17 years, and I am healthy and still have short hair☺
Ok, shaving your head is the most absurd comment ever. And if you wear pants every day forever, you don’t have to shave your legs anymore..
there was a blind a bit ago about an actress shaving her head bc she got lice and couldn’t control it. everyone guessed Kate.
Sounds like she was joking, although I think really did see a pic of her with a shaved head with her son.
