Yesterday, Kanye West’s spokesperson confirmed to Page Six that Kanye and his girlfriend Amber Rose had split, saying simply “They are no longer a couple.” It didn’t really seem that shocking because… well, Kanye is really weird, and no one was really invested in his relationship with a six-foot tall bald woman who seemed more interested in having girlfriends. The relationship seemed (to me and others) based on some kind of extravagant performance art. Like Kanye was the new Andy Warhol and Amber Rose was the new Edie Sedgwick. I bought the artist-muse dynamic before I would ever buy that they had a sexual relationship.

But now it seems that the performance art must go on! Despite his spokesperson’s split confirmation yesterday, Kanye seems to still be rolling with Amber Rose. They were seen Monday night at Kanye’s thirty-second birthday party in New York:

FOR a newly single man, Kanye West sure is spending a lot of time with his ex-girlfriend Amber Rose.

Despite his publicist’s claim to Page Six that they’re no longer a couple, Rose showed up at the rapper’s birthday party at the Spotted Pig Monday night, along with part owner Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, Ivanka Trump and Charlie Rose.

She and West were also photographed shopping at an American Apparel on Broadway on Tuesday.

I know there is a significant percentage of gossip-lovers who are all “Kanye is totes gay!” But I’ve never gotten that from him, and I pride myself on my good gaydar. I’ve predicted lots of closeted gay men, and for me, Kayne doesn’t beep. He just strikes me as weird, not gay. Perhaps even asexual. So, is this whole Amber Rose thing just an extension of the performance art? Or do Kanye and Amber really love each other, and they just can’t quit each other? I literally have no idea.
