There are tons of parties in LA throughout Oscar weekend. We usually only talk about the bigger events/parties, where there’s some kind of carpet and we have actual photos. But there are lots of events where photographers are not allowed. Madonna and Demi Moore have thrown an Oscar night party for many years, and no photos are ever allowed. I think Jay-Z must have heard about that and thought “man, that would be fun.” Page Six said, over the weekend, that Jay and Beyonce decided at the last minute to host an Oscar party at the Chateau Marmont because, according to one source, “Jay has always wanted to throw an Oscar party, and now feels like the right time.” After the Oscars, Page Six reported this:
Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s first — and sources say annual — Oscar party was so top secret even some of the couple’s closest friends were kept in the dark.
“Close friends with Jay . . . didn’t even know if they were invited,” said an insider of the party kept under wraps in the Chateau Marmont’s garage where only about 200 were admitted. “They wanted to mind-f - - k everyone and keep everything mysterious and exclusive.” Another source told us, “It took some masterful maneuvers to pull this off, and they enjoyed it so much they want to make it annual, keeping it as much on the ‘DL’ as possible.”
The garage was turned into a casino-themed space. To keep the public guessing, “They went stealth. VVVIPs all went up a hill past the hotel and went into the kitchen to make their way down to the back entrance of the garage. No fotogs, no carpet.”
In preparation for the party, we hear, staffers were told not to refer to Jay-Z and Beyoncé by name but only as “the host and hostess.” A different source said inside “it was all of black Hollywood.” We hear there were “no performances . . . a lot of stars mingling and letting their hair down because they knew they were not under the microscope of prying eyes.”
While photographers were faked out by the secret entrance, one of the few stars snapped at the hotel for the hush-hush party was “Get Out” breakout star Daniel Kaluuya. Inside, we hear, were also Rihanna, Stevie Wonder, Danai Gurira, Jamie Foxx and Drake.
Jay-Z and Beyonce’s privacy-obsession is a thing and it’s sort of annoying, right? I mean… it’s a party, not a social experiment. You don’t have to “mind f–k” your guests about whether or not they’re “on the list.” Imagine having to jump through those kinds of hoops – the secret entrance, the parking the car blocks away, the fact that you might not even be invited and could be turned away, all to… like, hang out in a garage and watch Jay smoke a cigar? And play blackjack? Blah.
Speaking of Jay-Z and Beyonce’s privacy obsession, you know how Tiffany Haddish was spilling some tea about meeting Beyonce and how she (Tiffany) wanted to fight someone, seemingly on Beyonce’s behalf? Many of you were like “oooh, this is not going to end well for Tiffany!” It did not end well for Tiffany! In the new DJ Khaled song “Top Off,” Beyonce sings “If they’re tryna party with the queen, they gon’ have to sign a nondisclosure.” It also sounds like Beyonce says “Tiffany” after that, and when they pointed that out to Tiff, she was SO HAPPY. She tweeted: “I Love Beyonce part! Everything she said rang so real to me. Just know I will sign A NDA any day For Beyoncé. But also know this I will fight for Beyoncé. I Love that woman she is a Gift from God.”
And finally, there’s a lot of speculation that Jay-Z and Beyonce will be touring together again this year, possibly starting this summer in Philadelphia. Probably. Their last tour together was crazy-profitable and they seem to enjoy being on the road together. But who knows? They’ll probably try to mind-f–k the people who want to see their concerts too.

I don’t understand why, if folks are upset with each other, they don’t simply hash it out with direct conversation.
Beyonce is beyond annoying. This is a perfect example of self importance and over inflated ego.
and i am sure that Blue Ivy was in charge of the guest list.
The entire cult around B and Jay-Z is exhausting.
They are just too much.
🙄🙄🙄I wish they were so private I never had to read either of their names again. Can they get over themselves already?
I came here for this!
In answer to your question, “No”.
If someone did that too me, I would tell them to F-off as that party would not be worth it. How ridiculous.
Ugghh so ridiculous, is it even a privacy obsession at this point or paranoia tinged with ginormous egos. I wouldn’t be surprised if their security were former secret service or some Israeli agents.
The party was organised in Mary J. Blige honour for her being a two time Oscar nominee.
How private can they be when they made his affairs public just to sell records? What is this next tour going to be about? They are going to have to let some “private info” slip so this tour doesn’t seem like the last one. I love Beyonce, always have, but sometimes her and Jay are just too much lol.
Huffing their own farts at this point. I enjoy Beyonce and all, but sheesh people.
This is why B would never leave J, because her ego to be the best helps with J and Lord forbid she doesn’t have the power she needs so desperately.
So much self importance.
They’re starting to get Michael Jackson-Elvis-Level-Weird. Extreme fame and wealth x several years tends to bring the crazy.
+1
The sodium level are going to go off the chart with this thread lol
Anyway, as long as Jay was not trying to, you know, actually f– some woman (which I’m not sure he wasn’t doing, let’s be real…)
Too bad there aren’t more stories about these two doing useful things with their money … like Bill Gates and other charitable billionaires. Yeah, I get it .. somehow you’re all SO SPECIAL. (eyeroll)
They actually do donate money, altough not as much as the Gates, but it mostly benefits POC and black people so I guess it does not count.
Please they’ve donated millions to defense funds, trayvon martin’s charity and other causes important to people of color. They don’t publicize it and there have been rare stories written months after the fact.
They’ve donated plenty.. Most celebrities don’t publicize everything they do. But I guess these days if you don’t shout it from the rooftops, then it didn’t happen according to the judgy internet.
@Lis If there were more charity stories, I’m sure you’d find a way to say something negative about it
Good grief the egos of these two is incredible.
I think it’s nice what they did. This is a place for POC in a tough industry to be a POC, to network, congratulate one another, and be themselves instead of having to put on a show of “let me fit in with this crowd” all night. And the party was hosted in honor of Mary J. Blige, queen of R&B and apparently an excellent actress who has gone through some hard times recently.
I think it would be cool to sneak into a party, kind of like an old speakeasy or secret society.
Clearly they are offputting to many people and it’s anyones right to find them snooty and into themselves, but I feel like the tone in this thread is harsher than is warranted by the circumstance.
It sounds like this was blown out of proportion by the gossip media.
They had a private party, with a small guest list, no PR, and an entrance away from paparazzi. GASP!!! Somehow that is called “masterful maneuvers” ?
I feel like Tiffany Haddish is precisely the sort of loose cannon that Beyonce is probably terrified of, lol. And I also feel like Tiffany Haddish doesn’t give an eff what Beyonce thinks. Sorry, but Bey is definitely out of her depth with this lol.
I read ‘touring’ as ‘torturing’ my first time through and it fits. I wish them all the success in the world but find them inauthentic and exhausting.
Blue Ivy’s face says it all for me. These two are so full from swallowing their own hype. They’re not cool. 🙄
These two are….strange.
