Us Weekly has all of the exclusives on Brad Pitt and Neri Oxman this week. Up until Tuesday, the line from People Magazine and Page Six was that Brad was “very interested” in Neri Oxman and that they were and are “friends.” According to Gossip Cop – who spoke with Brad’s rep – that is the true version. Probably because that was the version Team Pitt put out there. Gossip Cop says that Page Six got it right when their source claimed “Their friendship has not turned into romance” and that anything beyond that is an “exaggeration.” So Us Weekly’s reporting is an exaggeration? Possibly. But why are the exaggerations so detailed?
Brad Pitt sure knows how to treat his lady friends! The actor has embarked on a hot new romance with rock star MIT professor Neri Oxman, as Us Weekly previously reported. In fact, “Brad is absolutely smitten by her,” an insider says in the new issue. “Their chemistry is off the charts.”
Since taking up with Oxman this past November, the father of six — who split from wife Angelina Jolie in September 2016 — has been spending plenty of time in the professor’s Cambridge, Massachusetts, apartment. After all, Pitt, 54, understands she has teaching commitments. “Brad has been spotted going into her apartment building on multiple occasions late at night and emerging the next morning after she leaves to teach,” explains the insider, adding the Oscar winner has been given his own key to her pad.
In the 42-year-old’s apartment away from prying eyes, the two can relax. “Neri doesn’t cook,” says the source. “They have been ordering food in from her favorite restaurants, and Brad has been a lot of cooking.”
He’s happy to tag along on professional trips too. “Brad and Neri have traveled together internationally,” says the Pitt insider. Most recently they went to the Design Indaba conference in South Africa in February where the Israeli native was a featured speaker. And though a second Pitt source claims “this is solely a professional relationship, there’s nothing more to it as of now,” the insider calls that story a cover-up, noting, “They are very much a couple.”
When they met, explains the insider, they took to each other immediately. After seeing a series of 3-D printed chaise lounges Oxman designed, Pitt arranged a face-to-face meeting. “Brad had only planned on spending two days at MIT last fall, but ended up staying for a week,” says the insider. “Neri invited Brad for dinner at her Cambridge apartment, which is very close to the campus. They got romantically involved almost right away.”
The attraction was so instant, adds the insider, that Oxman ended things with her boyfriend. “Neri had been dating a very wealthy man,” says the insider, “and dumped him almost immediately.”
Now, after a tough year and a half, Pitt has finally been able to find some happiness. And Oxman has everything to do with it. “Being around Neri is intoxicating, as if you are flying high above the mountains,” a second source says in the new issue. She certainly has that effect on Pitt, notes the insider. “Brad is glowing around her.”
Next thing you know, sources will claim that Neri Oxman farts rainbows and that she is simply the most stylish and beautiful and accomplished woman in the world, and that she’s coming for Amal Clooney’s wig. It’s The Unicornification of Neri Oxman and it bugs. The unicornification of Amal bugged me too, because it was such a blatant oversell. Amal is a perfectly nice woman who does some cool things and has oddball style. She’s not the second coming of Jesus, and neither is Neri Oxman. I think what bugs me is that there’s the vibe of “oh, she has to be built up to a crazy degree so people will understand that George/Brad could only fall for a literally perfect woman.” And George and Brad both have tons of issues and flaws and why do the women have to be perfect?
Also: Neri dumped the billionaire as soon as she met Brad? Hm. Very HMMMM….

At this point, this story is almost definitely true. People are going to have to adjust. Yes, she is the new most beautiful and amazing woman in the world. I don’t know why people care so much, it seems to bug them, but better adjust. This is here for a while. Maybe for good, like George and Amal.

US Weekly has no source. The only source is the Page Six article that first leaked the news and that says they’re just friends.
But if they are not together why would she be silent when his pr team are doing the rounds with leaks? Wouldn’t those gossip rag stories have professional blow back for her after working hard to get where she is, she is now the subject of pr games. It would just feel tacky to me.

But to what end for her, is she after a reality show, Real Housewives Of MIT, I just think that these kinds of games would mean she is not taken seriously in her career. I am just being nosy wondering what her angle is, or is a bump in fame enough?

I’m not buying it either. They’ve supposedly been involved for FIVE MONTHS and no paparazzi have caught them somewhere? No one who has “spotted” him coming and going at her apartment has snapped a pic that would surely be worth big bucks? I’m not believing it yet.
I think his team likes what this narrative does for his image, and she…I don’t know. Maybe she’s enjoying the attention, or soon has something to sell, a book or something?
I know people who work in the Media Lab. I’m in that area pretty much constantly. Neri’s apartment is in the middle of everything. If there were any Brad Pitt sightings anywhere in Cambridge, people would be talking about it.

Brad and Jennifer kept their romance under wraps for quite a while. I think in their case they didn’t want the press attention they knew would come with a confirmation.
Brad and Angie didn’t verbally confirm their relationship immediately either. They were however pictured on a movie set, during promotions, and hanging out together on a beach in Kenya (I think). Point is they held off on actual verbal confirmation too even though there was plenty of evidence the romance was on for quite some time.
So even if this Neri is the real deal we will hear the same denials as we did about his relationship with Angie. He’s got reason to be more private now. He’s in the middle of another divorce and this one involves his 6 children so I wouldn’t expect he’d be swanning around with Neri in his arm.
I’m all 3 cases the ladies in question seemed to be happy to keep with the “we’re just friends” tagline so I don’t think he’s playing games. I do think he never wants himself or his new lady to be perceived in a negative light so he gets involved and tries to hold off confirmations until an actual divorce.

1) Brad and Jen “romance,” was touted right from jump. They teased it like it was a new star wars trailer. Everyone old enough recalls the early date pics of Jen cuddling sad ‘dumped by goop’ rebound Brad at a concert on a balcony in the dark. The stories were endless. She had dumped Tate Donovan and they were known as a thing from jump and never denied anything. Maybe you’re confusing the long slow drag to the altar 3yrs later.
2) Brad and Angelina only ever issued a denial about ONE thing: that they didn’t cheat. They said they were not together before his official separation. That’s it. After Brad was a free man so to speak, they very obviously made it plain through pics that they were together ALL THE TIME, lol, from Brad’s trip to Ethiopia to get Z, to Brad’s stay at Angie’s home in England, to the famous W spread where the text was all about them being a couple, to the Kenya pics. After Brad and Angie got together they never denied it to any publication and were inseprable. So you’re wrong on that score.
So if we hear denials about his being with Neri Oxman, there’s every reason to believe they’re true and accurate – that he is in fact not with her, Simply because Brad never once said he wasn’t with Angelina when he was. He doesn’t roll that way.
He just didn’t address it until they were both ready to talk and he let the pictures and reality of them being together all the time, and all over the world…speak for itself.
No one knew anything about this relationship, until his team went to page six to start all the gossip. He could of quietly seen this woman, But he wants it out there. Why deny? When they put it out in the first place. Brad can’t complain about press intrusion, when his team haven’t shut up all week!!!

The denial also stated “friends” but that he often flies to the East Coast. Huh? Why add that last piece? Also, as Lainey pointed out, his rep stated “smitten” was an exaggeration but not a fabrication. I now officially believe the slow rollout theory.

US Weekly is not a go to for most publicists anymore. They make up stuff all the time. I don’t buy this story at all. Now I think it is just a pile on go with whatever hint they hear and exaggerate it.

Us Weekly reported that Brad and Angelina’s divorce was off like six months ago. They said Angelina was impressed that he quit drinking and that she was still in love with him. They were also the ones who said Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston fought about post-its from Brad Pitt. So, yeah, making things up is kind of their forte now.

No woman with brains would sign up for that since it implies you are not over your ex. Dating her would not be competition to Angie it would be that he is seeking someone just like Angie. The US magazine version is full of holes. There are Instagram photos online wth dates that completely contradict their version of events. They clearly don’t do a lot of research, otherwise they would see he wasn’t even in the same state or country. Seems both pitt & Neri oxman are both benefitting from all this talk. His new image rehab & this up’s her profile. A week ago, hardly anyone other (than those in her field) knew anything about this woman. It’s so annoying when they play coy. Either admit you’re together… or your not!!! It’s not nice for his kids to be surrounded by all this noise.
Brad did not spent one week in Boston when he went there last Nov 28: he was in NJ at Pollaro’s shop Nov 30 and was back in LA Dec 2, he watched Chris Rock show.
It seems all write-ups are praising this woman as smart, beautiful, intelligent and is an upgrade for Brad. Geez, Angie is “ the most admired woman in the world”, she is like in the same level as Bill Gates, Barack Obama, the Queen of England and the Pope. She is not only one of the highest paid Actress in HW,an acclaimed Director, scriptwriter, producer and is UNHCR Special envoy. She has contributed much to the world with her humanitarian efforts. On top of that, she is a Dame. Compared to this Professor, who I am not sure what she had achieved already and contributed to the world in architecture or science, except those impractical exhibits and chairs. I mean, how could that be an upgrade for Brad, she is only an associate professor and manages a lab paid for by sony corp. I dont think she invented something really revolutionary yet. She even augments her income by doing speaking engagements that is being sold to public for like usd 12 like the one in Utah. No wonder, she is not denying the news, she also wants to be famous so that more people will buy tickets to her speaking engagements.
Lots of people do amazing things and are not celebrities. I wouldn’t discount Dr Oxman’s accomplishments simply because she isnt as famous as Angelina. Also “only” an associate professor? seriously? She is a tenured prof at MIT. She is only 42 and obtained her PhD in 2010. In this academic climate, it’s impressive she got a tenure-track job so quickly after completing her PhD and speaks to her likely being very well respected in her field

Angelina Jolie is a very good actress, an average to good director and someone with an enormous heart who has try for almost two decades to use her fame to help those less fortunate than her.
The idea that the last two are on the same level is laughable and frankly, even a little offensive. Like all actors, Angelina probably has an healthy ego but I don’t think she would put herself on the same category as Obama and Gates.
When Obama dies, it will be a day of national mourning in the black community and around the world. Libraries, streets, stadiums and hospitals will be named after him. Let’s not compare a very good white actress known for her great beauty and recognizable features that are often mocked on black women to a black man who had to overcome so much racial hurdles to become POTUS.
People all over the world voted for Angelina as their most admired woman, nothing can beat that. Bill Gates is the no one man, so he and Angie are both no. 1, same level, just different category. Both ladies are extremely successful and interesting in their own right so theres no need to pit them against one another over some 50+ year old man who wants to remain relevant for some reason. There is no need to tear her down to make Angelina seem better. Trying to downplay her accomplishments seems wholly unnecessary.
While I do think Angelina’s humanitarian work is very admirable, I too don’t think of her in quite the same realm as the others listed. What’s interesting is to look at the list – the men are from pretty varied fields – business, politics, sports, religion – and the vast majority of the women are from the entertainment industry. Kind of shows how underrepresented we still are in leadership roles in other fields.
Also Vladimir Putin is #4 on the mens’ side, and Dump is #17, so make of the list what you will.

I don’t know where my comment went but… while I think Angelina is an accomplished woman who has done great humanitarian work, has done some interesting movies/directorial work (I haven’t seen any of her movies that she directed and I don’t think she’s that great of an actress), and is a great mom, to put her in the same category as the Pope, Obama, Queen Elizabeth… that’s just ludicrous! She also greatly benefited from having a well established father as an actor and her mom was in show business too so she didn’t exactly struggle to become an actress. This isn’t necessarily a negative but she definitely had an advantage over most people to get to where she is today.
As for this Neri Oxman, she seems interesting and the fact she is already a tenured professor is a huge deal.

Just one more thing to add. Them building up Neri and shading Angie will backfire on them. So far Angie has been quietly minding her own business and simply living her life not even mentioning Brad or trying to throw blows at him.

Angie has the leverage. They can talk all they want about him winning HW and the media loves him. What about his freaking kids. They can start to resent him for all the bad press insults and all his friends and Agents are leaking.

The story isn’t even about her. Even the claims that he is planting all these stories is far fetched. That would be like believing AJ plants every story about her and or the claims her detractors think these are her work too.
They are tabloids. The original stories had real sources the rest are garbage.

I would say that most definitely is the problem. Like all self-centered, emotionally immature men who are used to doing whatever they want, Brad never entertained the thought that his actions might have consequences. He must have been devastated when Angie took the kids and left. And now she is contentedly going on with her life without a backward glance at him. The nerve of the woman!
This whole thing sounds like a silly ploy to make Angie jealous, or at least regret leaving him, and it’s going to backfire all over him. I don’t think Angie regrets leaving him for a minute, and she simply does not care what he does any more. That’s going to sting worse than anything else.
I don’t believe Brad cares what Jolie is doing. He is about repairing his reputation and reinventing his image. I don’t believe Jolie is a factor or the kids. I’m not saying he’s a bad dad just that the kids are not part if his new image. 🙂

Like I said on another post that he felt slighted big time that AJ hasn’t looked back since she filled. How dare her. He should be the one that doing the leaving, not the other way.
Now his team is feeding People bits of details about the new girlfriend almost constantly. Just an hour ago , they added the bit about her ability to challenge him in everyway and he is thrilled to have someone like that in his life. I think I need to stop reading celebs nees for a while. It’s almost nauseated to read updates on him seemingly every day of the week.
TruthHurts, it is hard to pick a few things you said that are most offensive, but I will try: to call this brilliant woman who has a PhD and is a professor at the top tech university in America “boring and plain” and that people say she is “not exciting and impressive” is not gossip. It’s fantasy you somehow made up. And it is absurd.

She really is beautiful, imo. Or striking, at least. I have no idea if I’d notice her in person since she looks very small like Natalie Portman, but in photos I think she “pops.” With Amal, I feel the discussion around her looks is exaggerated. Any time I see a photo, I’m like, I don’t get it. But this lady lives up to the hype looks-wise, imo. Even on the cover of US magazine, that little photo could pass for an actress’s photo on IMDB, I think. And I wouldn’t be any the wiser. The rest — I have no idea.
I do think what she studies is a little….I don’t have the accurate word for it — like what she’s proposing could have unintended consequences, but I’m only guessing. Anything that sounds like it messes with nature a little bit always scares me off.
I keep remembering the hilarious photo shoot he did for GQ where he acted the forlorn loner wandering through Terrence Malik landscapes – in painfully fashionable clothes – emoting wistfulness with world-weary eyes. Since then I’ve viewed him as a terrible ham.
That photo shoot was effective though. People felt sorry for him. He has the best PR in Hollywood. Others should take note
I dont think he has the best PR in Hollywood. People are willing to let him get away with a lot. Tom Cruise got hit way harder by news of not seeing his daughter and there was never any reports of violence like with Brad.
People just love a good looking white dude no matter what he does. Anyone else (even most white actors) would have been laughed at for those photos.

He gets off so easily when it comes to the split because folks want to believe he’s some brooding, wounded man tricked by the ultimate villainess. As per usual with Pitt’s pr, the women are thrown to the wolves and ripped to shred while he looks on. Same thing he did with Anniston and Jolie by the way. How about HE is the loser who got his ass investigated by child protection services and could not come out with a public statement when his own son was being blamed for the airplane incident and Angelina and Neri are two gorgeous, incredibly accomlished women who have accomplished a lot in very sexist fields even tough they are early in their 40’s.
This is getting ridiculous and the more i hear about it the less i believe it’s genuine and the more i believe they are both in it for publicity. It is 100% possible to keep a relationship private if you are a hollywood star, we’ve seen it done before, and specially easier if they’re not dating someone famous. My guess Brad is using this for exactly what’s happening now, so that we’re not solely focused on the scandal of his breakup and stop thinking he’s and unstable man. Neri, I don’t know, i googled her briefly nd she has a lot of what look like modeling pictures, which i found odd for an architect and professor, but i guess publicity is always good when you’re an artist.
Mtam, she was selected by the Boston Globe Magazine as one if it’s top 25 most stylish Bostonians a few years ago. Those pics probably come from that photo shoot.

And I wanna clarify that I think that’s totally fine! People should be encouraged to do whatever interests them.
I guess maybe i made the comment cause it seemed that for some people it was hard to picture why she would want this kind of publicity, but i think ppl forget that just cause being an architect is considered one of the serious artist professions, that a huge part of their careers depend on advertising themselves, their work, and by word-of-mouth. Kind of like freelancing.
And yes she’s a tenure professor also, but as amazing as that is, I doubt it fullfills all that creative artist motivations she may have. Like, just because this woman is talented and well educated doesn’t mean she’s incapable of having an ego that would welcome this kind of attention to bring up her status, get better known/more recognition, and opportunities, to further her career.

BP had always wanted to be liked by the public and his peers in the industry. If you notice the adjectives folks used to describe him when asked I.e nice, affable, charming etc..his obsession with his public image is the motive that drives his career. and for everything that he does. Thus the slow rollout of his new woman in his life.
I don’t think he’s as genuine to his fans as much as AJ is. Not a comparison per say but to say that he presented a nice facade to the public because that’s what he deemed as important for his career. If you watched their RC’ arrivals, there were certain times he would truly to rush AJ into the event when she lingered too long with all the fans posing and signing. He would give a signal to his watch saying they didn’t have time and got to go. Just an example of his real persona. And this is the guy who would willingly take zillion of takes for David Fincher’s movies without any complaints. Why? He wants his peers to like him and to keep wanting to work with him. Not a bad trait per say but to understand why he he did certain things and the length he goes to present himself to the public. Why he doesn’t speak up for the women he’s associated with when there were rumors or negative things being said. His MO is let’s wait and see. What would I do to not jeopardize my career.
With his first wife who like him cared deeply about public image, he was real careful not to say bad things about. The only time he’s being truthful he ended up correcting and retracting what he said less than 24 hours later. With his second wife who didn’t care about tab stories, he let his people trash talked about her once she filed for the divorce. That is more real to his personality. He admitted that he’s an asshole when it come feeling justice and any perceived slights against him. Sad that he’s hasn’t changed since the plane incident and what he did to destroy their family unit.
David Fincher is a fantastic director and his numerous takes lead to more natural acting and great movies. Fincher is also a close friend of Brad and Angelina. She respected him enough to want him to direct her Cleopatra movie and they invited him to their wedding. How is it a bad thing that Brad doesn’t complain? He knows Fincher’s methods work and are worth it for the quality of the films. It’d be pretty unprofessional and diva-like for him to complain about something that is a well-known aspect of working with Fincher.

OK, that makes sense. It totally looked like a fake account to me but I was also kind of curious as to why the sudden creation of the account two days ago. They should be putting Neri Oxman Fan or something to help differentiate between the real person and someone whose trying to cash in on her name. People should know that BP’s team won’t spill the beans unless with his approval. So all these details coming out now may not come out directly from him but it is.
I think this is an arrangement for both. They met up and found that they are attracted to each other and each wanted something from the other. She wanted attention and fame and the desire to be in the company of hottest bachelor in the world. He wanted to be seen as smart and to be taken serious as artistic and creative. Plus, he wanted to get back at AJ. Why? She left him and put him through the ring of humiliations. He was humiliated in public with accusations of child abuse, being subjected to weekly urine testing etc…I think that he viewed it as biggest slight of all. I believe at the beginning he did want to get back to AJ and be a family again. But despite all the pleadings and begging, AJ didn’t want him back. She didn’t trust him after what his team had done to her with the smearing campaigns and trying to end her career. Pretty much trash talking her in all the publications. I think he realized that she wasn’t to be persuading to change her decision, he decided to move on what with that quote of an old clinched of “if you love someone you set them free (from his GQ magazine spread).
Thus, start the search for a new woman. In comes George Clooney’s strategy of How to Create a Perfect Woman. If you keep saying the same thing over and over then eventually folks will believe in it. He’s doing it right now with the new love interest.
I think the divorce is almost done or will be once AJ is finished with the filming in London. He wanted to do this rollout now to get folks get used to it. So, when the divorce papers are filed people are not going to accuse him of moving on too quickly. He got burned the last time for not mourning the death of his first marriage.
All this overkill and overselling of this new woman smell fishy and desperate. He will be close to 60 soon and yet still trying to play the young and upcoming star games. His public image took a hit due to the split amid the child abuse accusations and his movies were tanking so it needs a boost and rehab. Enter a genius and gorgeous professor who is game to be along for the ride. Win-win situation for both parties.
I think Angelina is too busy raising their six children, starting a new film, her humanitarian work, to care about what brad is doing. She’s been doing all the heavy lifting the last two years, while he’s been off to ‘find himself’ with his sculpture & me time.
