Venom is pointless, though, because it’s not attached to a larger universe. I don’t think one-off comic movies are a thing these days.
Venom is a fairly important character in the Spider-Man universe…in the comics I mean. And once Flash Thompson becomes Venom he shows up in a few different places. Not just the Avengers but Guardians of the Galaxy too.
I think that’s the whole issue right? Venom isn’t attached to the larger MCU which means it won’t have any relevance to the Marvel films. At least with the Deadpool franchise, it could still be connected to the X-Men universe; Venom doesn’t have that backing, now with Spider-Man as part of the MCU.
He’s very important, but he’s not owned by Disney and therefore can’t be part of the MCU. It’s unfortunate.
Ohh! Sorry! I’m stupid. I thought the OP meant that Venom the character was pointless! I love Venom so I had to give him a bit of a plug.
I haven’t read much about this movie, I didn’t realize that it wasn’t part of the MCU.
See, it looks intriguing but my issue is that Venom is WAYYY too intertwined with Spiderman for Peter to just… not be mentionned? Peter Parker is out here getting beat up by Thanos and everyone else in the MCU.
There in lies the issue w/ selling the film rights to your characters (that exist in a connected universe) to multiple companies.
Venom is the first standalone in… get this… “Sony’s Marvel Universe.”
“Sony’s Marvel Universe.”
Bhet why??? Wariss this?
Three very good looking people right there!
Venom is attached to Tom Hardy therefore I will go see it.
Exactly. Plus the movie actually actually looks really good.
Please, everyone…can’t we settle this like grown, reasonable people? Good! Then step aside.
My husband, my daughter and I all have giant crushes on Tom Hardy. I say, but he’s *my* TomTom! (Pronounced much like yumyum in a growl cause….obviously)
And If TomTom is in it, I’ll be there.
Just saw that Netflix is doing a present day Tales of the City 10 episode arc with Laura Linney (who was in original) and Ellen Page. Now that’s exciting. Blergh so sick of comic book movies.
I’m SO CONFLICTED…
On one hand…Venom is one of my favorite comic book characters…AND one of the only video games I loved playing back in the day on Sega Genesis…
On the other hand…whenever I see the name Sony associated with Marvel…it’s either been a “banal” or a “meh” experience…except for the first two Spider-Man movies…
And I am STILL SICK about the fact that Tom Hardy isn’t taking on Wolverine…I was SO HOPING THAT WOULD BE TRUE…
However…
IT IS…TOM HARDY!!! So..that pretty much answers whether I will be sitting in a movie seat opening weekend…
I’ll see anything with Riz Ahmed
I know nothing about Venom so…
Kylie Jenner looks really pretty without all of the makeup piled on. I know her lips aren’t natural, but they do look good there.
Kylie really does look so much better without all the makeup. And that video of her baby smiling hit me in all the feels.
Regardless of how I feel about the Kardashian-Jenner clan, they make pretty babies.
Good to know that Tom Hardy pulled the good cargo pants and t shirt out from under his bed before going to work.
*sigh*
Paris Jackson had a great response, I think. “If you’re worried about me, call me.” Her family might be just selling stories to make money off of her name instead of having genuine concern for her. She says she talks to her older brother all the time and he’s not worried about her.
Will watch it if only for Riz Ahmed.
ONCE again, BG has hipped me to a good movie, I look forward to seeing my sweetie pie Tom Hardy.
Thanks BG!!
