Every inch of Madonna is airbrushed in new Louis Vuitton ad

Madonna’s long obsession with youth has been carefully documented over the years. Unfortunately for her, the younger she tries to look, the more the press focuses in on every new wrinkle and sag. Aging is inevitable – even if you go under the knife. It just becomes a matter of whether you want to age like a normal looking person or like an alien looking person. Quite often, Madge seems to have chosen the later.

When the surgeon’s scalpel can’t provide you with the look you’re looking for, why not turn to the next best thing? Dr. Photoshop. Sure, he can be a little capricious and is known to be a bit heavy handed. But his work is nearly guaranteed – though it doesn’t last long. And that’s exactly who Madonna seems to have visited for her ridiculous touch ups for her latest Louis Vuitton ads.

Madonna somehow always manages to hold the ageing process back, however for her latest campaign she seems to have turned back time. But the lengths to which Louis Vuitton has gone to keep Madonna looking eternally youthful may be a bit extreme, with the Material Girl looking almost plastic in this latest ad. In particular, the fingers of her right hand seem to have been stuck on – are they someone else’s? Or just bleached to white through airbrushing?

Photo editors seem to have shaved at least 20 years off the megastar, leaving her looking more like Sophie Dahl than her true 50-year-old self. In place of her typically veiny hands – renowned for giving away the true age of a woman – her fingers were smooth and slender. In the ad, Madonna looks ethereal as she reclines in a blue armchair were a burgundy taffeta dress, lacy fingerless gloves and pink bunny ears – similar to the antenna-style headwear she wore to the Costume Institute Gala earlier this year.

While Madonna is in undeniably good shape for a 50-year-old woman, she looks far too young to be a mother-of-four in the new shots for Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter ’09 collection. The Vogue singer posed for acclaimed photographer Steven Meisel, who shot her controversial 1992 book Sex, who also took the previous season’s ad. The latest campaign makes Madonna look a little more innocent than what has come before. The last Louis Vuitton advertisement in December was certainly more raunchy.

The singer has reportedly been paid £6.5million for the campaign.

[From the Daily Mail]

Not to be a total snot, but Madonna looks totally ridiculous. I mean she looks beautiful, but airbrushing to this extent just draws more attention to the work, and makes you think even more about how she normally looks. In the long run it reminds you more of aging, not youth.

I think Madonna must have one of those magic ass kissing mirrors like in “Snow White.” That’s the most reasonable explanation I can come up with for how she’d think this looks realistic.

If they have to fake her…why use her? Shes old and there are far more beautiful people than her around…shes washed up and as you can see looks ridiculous in that stupid ad!! LV stop lowering yourself with has beens…good lord!

  2. Prissa says:

This is sooo over the top. How can she or anyone in her circle have looked at these pics and thought “Yep that looks hot!!” She looks like a video game character!! WTH!

  3. Eileen Yover says:

Looks great if you’re in to mannequins…

  4. KateNonymous says:

It’s interesting that they went this route. I’m starting to think that Madonna’s “I’m going to shock you and you’re going to think I’m sexy no matter how hard and unsexy I am” is akin to Barbra Streisand’s “You WILL find me beautiful!”

What, talent and hard work aren’t enough for these people? Seriously?

  5. PrincessJay says:

She looks so fake. It’s a shame. I think a woman looks so much more beautiful when they let themselves age gracefully.

  6. Praise St. Angie says:

not only does she look ridiculous as far as making her look so much younger, she didn’t even look like that when she WAS 20 years younger!

this picture looks like Madonna’s younger, better-looking sister.

and we all know how vein-y and sinew-y her arms REALLY are.

  7. Linda says:

WOW…this is kind of a slam to Madonna – I mean they don’t even try to make this believable!! Too funny.

  8. BlueSkies says:

Notice how she still wears the cut off gloves. She started wearing those when word got around online about her granny hands, then out came the gloves. She’s so delusional that she didn’t bother to notice her hands and “her people” didn’t dare tell her. Now, she could of had those bony claws photoshopped but she is wearing them as if to say, No, I like my signature gloves. This is right up there with having her grey roots dyed brown so we won’t notice her age. I did find a photo of her last time in Malawi where she slipped up and you can clearly see the blond, the brown root dye job and all grey, not even salt and pepper coming in. Let me find it and I’ll post if here, if that’s alright.
She is so transparent if you know what to look for.

  9. Kaiser says:

Look, they even airbrushed her arm gristle! She does all of that hard work to get man-arms, and then they just whittle them down to toothpicks.

    tsk, tsk.

  10. crazydaisy says:

actually, BS, madonna kind of started the fingerless glove craze back in the ’80’s when she was first coming up – and was very young, btw. so it’s not just a new trick to cover her “bony claws.”

she does look pretty plastic in these pics but then again, so do most models in high fashion shoots. even the 20-somethings.

  11. Lem says:

    1. her crotch is covered
    2. yes it is – every inch

  12. Ron says:

I understand wanting to look you best. I turned 44 this week and I have always been vigilant about taking care of my skin and look good for my age. However, I am not using botox or anything like that and shaved my head years ago when my hair started to thin. You can do everything to look your best, but when you start to not look like yourself you are going to far. This is a nice photo, but if I had paid for Madonna to be my spokesperson, I would like to actually see Madonna as she is, which still looks great. Not a painting of her at 20.

  13. Livia says:

I thought the non-photoshopped pics of her from last year’s W Magazine shoot in Brazil were kind of cool – the lines and wrinkles they showed on Madonna’s face didn’t make her look ugly at all, IMO. They made her look like who she is – a successful woman of the world who’s fully lived every minute of her 50 years. Photoshop and retouching erases everything that’s interesting about her – it makes her about as unique as a blowup doll. What a shame.

  14. Jann says:

Is it all possible she’s to look like a mannequin? Maybe that’s why all the airbrushing…

    Just sayin’….

  15. Boom says:

She’s probably going to look like Joan Rivers in her 70’s. Also have something in common with McDonalds, now serving 1 billion. She will definitely need a p*ssy-lift.

  16. Megyn says:

Maybe she’s trying to look like a mannequin? Yeah, that’s all I got.

  17. texasmom says:

I didn’t recognize her! She looks like any out-of-focus starlet in this shot.

  18. BlueSkies says:

actually, BS, madonna kind of started the fingerless glove craze back in the ’80’s when she was first coming up – and was very young, btw. so it’s not just a new trick to cover her “bony claws.”

Crazydaisy, I know she wore them back in the 80’s, it’s just that they have been pressed back into service after everyone commented on how horrible her hands looked.

  19. anastasiabeaverhausen says:

I thought this was a badly photoshopped pic of Scarlet Johannsen.

  20. the original kate says:

wow – nothing about this photo looks like madge…why bother using her at all?

  21. bros says:

she looks like the undead in a sarcophagus.

  22. b says:

Is it criminal to age? I don’t get the whole airbrush overhaul thing.

  23. paranel says:

I agree with bros. Why bother if the photos doesn’t even represent the real person ? She looks like a wax figurine. And Madonna never started any trend, she simply stole Cindy Lauper’s look and ran with it initially. She steals other people’s ideas.. That is her only talent.

  24. orion70 says:

LV is doing bad bad things to its image with these ads. Then again, I don’t get the hype about the LV bags.

Aging is not something to be ashamed of, and i’d rather see a woman aging gracefully in an ad than this crapola.

  25. ccoop says:

She’s unrecognizable, which just contrasts even more horribly with how she looks in reality.

  26. santacruz says:

why use madonna if the photo is such a poor likeness of her?

  27. Cletus says:

Props to whomever said that Madonna didn’t even look like this when she WAS 20- so true. Young Madonna always looked filthy and greasy to me…. I didn’t know what “crabs” were when I was eight, but I knew enought to know that I wouldn’t wanna sit anywhere she had put her butt. And I LOVED me some Madonna!

This airbrushing thing is hilarious…. poor ol’ dried up Madonna- I guess she thinks all us plebs won’t notice the mind-blowing difference between the Really Real World where we all live, and MadonnaLand, where SHE lives- up to her eyeballs in delusion.

  28. Giz says:

    Cake(,airbrush) or death?

Like it or not we’ll all get dried up and old,i f we live long enough. So for those of you poking and laughing at dried up old Madonna, how are you going to age? Having your face stretched every which way to Sunday (which won’t halt the aging process anyway) or with some sense of dignity (unlike Madonna) My bet is a good portion of you have just uttered the word Ewwwooo!

  29. Stanley says:

But she got 6.5 million pounds for this campaign? Is LV that stupid? Or is it the public? If she’s so ghastly, why can she fill stadiums tour after tour?

And i’m not defending her in the least. But a lot of people really like her and hand her bizarre amounts of money.
    Sort of like Paris Hilton.

I don’t get it either. Maybe a ‘fan’ could explain.

  30. Zoe (The Other One) says:

Whoever this person is she looks phenomenal – fake or otherwise it’s a stunningly attractive woman that has been created in the picture.

However, the fact that she barely resembles Madonna (and does indeed look far more like Sophie Dahl – good call Jaybird) does beg the question why on earth pay all that money to have ‘Madonna’ fronting your campaign.

I guess that’s why I work in construction and not advertising.

  31. Marie says:

I WANT to believe that they want her to look like a mannequin. if it was it at least they should made her look like herself.

  32. BluePlanet says:

I find it funny that they pay her all this money to do ads, yet it doesn’t even look like her. You want people to recognize the celebrity in the ad don’t you?

  33. malena says:

honestly the ad doesn’t even look like madonna

  34. gossip_ho says:

    plastic fantastic!

  35. BlueSkies says:

I miss the big, wide nose, beauty mark above the little tiny mouth and the expressive eyes. She doesn’t even look Italian anymore.

  36. Boom says:

That’s Madonkey, making an ass of herself.

  37. vicsmith says:

Agree with Jann. This is probably exactly what she was going for. No drug addicted victim, like others, she is very much in control of her image.

  38. LV Mens says:

Looks really cool artsy and modern really. LV have their ways for making good ads, and they do have great marketing strategies.

  39. neo says:

she is still beautiful!how can she keep like this !
