Kendall Jenner tried. Or did she? I feel like she did TRY to do something interesting but not on-theme, and it sort of backfired. Like, she thought she would be the only person wearing a chic pantsuit/jumpsuit thing and she sort of was the only one. But she didn’t stand out AT ALL. Maybe it was because this Off-White jumpsuit is just… not what anyone should wear to the Met Gala, especially given this year’s theme? If I’m stretching it, I would say her aim is to look angelic. But it’s so blah.
Emily Ratajkowski is basically Kendall’s look-alike at this point, only… Kendall might be a more useful person? It’s startling to realize that. I don’t know who Emily is wearing, but it’s boring.
Meanwhile, Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper quietly walked the Met Gala carpet. This feels like their first (??) time where on a carpet where they really stopped and posed, although they have attended at least one Met Gala together before (but the photos were few and far between of them together). Irina looks… fine in this Versace. I’m okay with it. It has nothing to do with the theme though.

I really like iryna’s look. And I do think it’s on theme: the gold feathered train fits the heavenly bodies concept. It makes me think of the way archangels are painted in high medieval/late Renaissance art.

Yes exactly. I thought it was VERY on-theme actually. It manages to be both dramatic and flattering in that it’s very body conscious, which cannot be said about many of the looks at the Met Gala this year.

Kendall is going for the heavenly bodies part of the theme and she totally missed it. Her look was way too boring and way too casual for a gala and she kept stepping on and tripping over those pants.

I feel like A LOT of the celebs looked stoned. I feel like the a-listers all meet up and get really high somewhere before this event. Rihanna especially looked high to me.

@Melanie I imagine it has something to do with it being parts of their contracts, especially for the celebs who have contracts with fashion houses.
That makes sense for people who have contracts with designers, but I don’t see why actors who don’t have that clause insist on going. I can’t imagine there is something in the contract they signed with their acting/talent agency that requires them to go.
Kendull (and Emily, really) just want to look “sexy”. Like you can tell that’s all they want from their lives, and it shows through every try hard picture.
It’s funny because Kendall is one of the least sexy celebrities out there. She reminds me of a bottle of antiseptic soap or something.

I thought Kendall was very on theme. To me, it looked like a shroud.
I didn’t think the celebs got to chose their looks. They’re paired with designers and Anna Wintour approves everything. So it might not have been up to Kendall et al.
I actually LOVE Kendalls look so much. One of my top 3 for the night (Kendall, Amber, Blake).
I wonder if some of them interpreted “Heavenly Bodies” as just “show off your figure”. That’s what these outfits say to me. And if so, the only one worthy was Irina.
Why pay attention to a theme for an event, when the entire focus should always be–ME!!
I loved Emily’s dress and she was wearing the hell out of it. Kendall Jenner was a big snooze IMO.

I’m an off the shoulders kinda woman so I kinda love Kendall’s outfit. Not for the theme of the Gala but just as an outfit (sans weird gloves).
Kendall looks so much better when she smiles instead of her usual zombie look. Why was she at the MET thing anyway? Oh, I know, because Anna needed every model she could get to fill in for the A listers who blew the whole thing off.
Bradley Cooper looks like just rolled onto the carpet in a barrel. He’s all windswept and sweaty looking
None of these are particularly great, but at least Irina’s dress evokes a sense of feathers and flight. It’s squishing her chest a bit, but she’s otherwise lovely in it.

I’m not surprised that Kendall is boring. I don’t say this often because I don’t like to knock on anyone’s intelligence, but homegirl doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together does she. Of course she’s not going to interpret the theme in a creative way.
