Duchess Kate brought out George & Charlotte for William’s polo match

Duke of Cambridge Plays in Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy

I forgot that Trooping the Colour is usually the beginning of polo season. On Sunday, the day after Trooping the Colour, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge came out once again, this time for the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy. William’s team seemed to have won? But the real winners were Prince Charlotte and Prince George, because they got to play outside and not pay any attention to daddy or the polo game.

George seemed to have been running around like a banshee, and Charlotte was doing a million things too – she tried running along with George, then she seemed to take a break to dance and twirl. She was doing handstands for a while too. And of course, George must have introduced Charlotte to his favorite activity during daddy’s polo games: the “rolling down the hill” game. Where kids literally just roll down a slightly steep embankment. Kids are so much fun (actually just looking through these photos exhausted me). They were playing with their second-cousins too – Isla and Savannah Phillips were there, and Kate seemed pretty chatty with Autumn Phillips (Peter’s wife). There’s also a dark-haired woman who resembles Sarah Huckabee Sanders (what if that was the real SHS?!?).

As for Kate, she wore a simple and inexpensive Zara dress, which costs £39.99. You know why she bought this dress? Because it has tiny buttons all the way up the front!! She’s telling Meghan: “look here, Button Come Lately, I AM THE TRUE DUCHESS OF BUTTONS.” Kate paired the dress with Russell & Bromley wedges. Honestly, I’m shocked that we aren’t seeing her in jeggings and a striped shirt, since that’s her go-to uniform for “casual” photo-ops. But I appreciate that she gave us a different look. She seemed very summery. And very happy to be pap’d along with her kids. Hm.

Even though this is exactly what people wanted the comments should be interesting.

I’ve had a scan down and have come (shuddering) back up here just to say the pics are lovely, Kate looks relaxed and happy, all the kids look like they’re having a grand day out, and Charlotte really really needs to be the next queen.

I say this as a staunch republican. Charlotte though. She could make me change my mind. 😉

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

I loved the pictures of Kate and the kids at this event. I think Kate looked better than I have ever seen her here — so natural and chic in a very unpretentious way. I also like her with a little added weight.

The kids were adorable, and looked so happy. Well, George cried once or twice, as usual. I think Charlotte would be much more promising Monarch material than poor George, who is just too sensitive to bear up under all that weight and scrutiny. Yes, I know he’s just a kid — but he seems to have inherited his father’s temperament. Little Charlotte is irrepressible, staunch, and completely comfy with hollering crowds (not to mention, she already has the royal wave down pat). To my mind, Charlotte is the Queen’s mini-me — in looks and in her staunch bearing.

      • Cee says:

He’s not even 5 years old FFS.

      • Masamf says:

Whats the FFS for, poster already said “I know he’s just a kid but”

      • Goats on the Roof says:

Oh, really! Prince George is four and Princess Charlotte only three. Such sweeping claims about who can handle what and their personalities are inappropriate IMO.

      • minx says:

        Kids go through stages.

      • Lahdidahbaby says:

Thanks for the back-up, MasamF. Cee and Goats, it was just an obsevation and comparison of temperaments. My kids’ very contrasting temperaments showed quite clearly from even earlier ages.

Yes, Minx, of course they go through stages. But as I noted above, temperaments are often clear at early ages, as were Charles’ and Anne’s.

Charlotte has taken like a natural to official appearances, even getting the royal wave down pat; while she was doing that the first time, her older brother George was crying.

I only wish the children themselves could choose to ascend the throne or not with no judgment and no censure. They are humans, after all, little or not, and maybe George won’t want to be King. Maybe Charlotte will be eager to reign.

    • PrincessK says:

I think the pictures are great and Kate looks lovely. The dress is perfect, nice to see her in something different from mini dresses, this length suits her. Nice to see her kids playing freely and mixing with other children.

Of course these pictures have been authorised but may not quite make the front page of Hello because Meghan and the Queen will be the next top story.

  2. girl_ninja says:

Those babies looked like they were having a blast. So darling.

  3. DIRTNAP says:

George was playing with a toy gun/waterpistol and handcuffs at the event. I’m surprised that wasn’t mentioned; there’s been some blowback on the internet about it.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

I tried to keep my young son from toy guns. It didn’t work. It got to the point where he would stand in the toy aisle and state transfixed. The moment I broke down and bought him one, the spell was broken. I have no issue with George with a toy gun.

      • Millennial says:

I tried to keep my son away from them, too, but other children brought water guns to the pool and that was the end of that. Kiddo wanted to play with them and short of making a scene in front of our neighbors (who brought the offending items) there wasn’t much to be done. We’ve also had our daycare hand out water guns as prizes for good behavior. I did make a fuss about that, but overall, it’s a hard thing to avoid.

      • homeslice says:

Same here…I still don’t buy them, but they get them from parties and make them from legos so…

      • PrincessK says:

Same here, I refused to buy my son a gun when he was young but he just got a cardboard box and made one.

      • Lari says:

I never wanted to buy guns for my boys either, but anything they picked up became a gun….even a bendy straw. Hate to say it, but I prefer pretend gun fights across the garden to them turning sticks into swords/ light sabers….too many tears when someone gets clocked over the skull.

      • Aurelia says:

Yeah, there was heat about the toy gun and hand cuffs. Daily Mail of course. The items came in a typical kids multi pack from a $2 shop.

    • Rainbow says:

He was also playing with a slinky in many photos not included in this post. Kate had a purse with toys for the kids and I guess she brought old-fashioned toys than Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol.

    • me says:

I’m a girl but I played with toy guys and water guys as a kid, as so did all my friends. We also ate those damn Popeye candies that looked like cigarettes but NEVER became smokers. We also at that gum that looked like tobacco but never tried real tobacco. LOL It’s crazy to think of all the stuff we were given to eat and play with as kids in the 80’s. Now all that is frowned upon (rightfully so but is there really any correlation with toy guys and adults that end up using guns to murder?).

      • Millennial says:

I get what you are saying but I can’t really even begin to describe the heart break I felt when I was my 2 almost 3 year old pull the “trigger” while aiming a water gun spray at his friend. It was just a hopelessness and a sadness. More about my 2 year old also having to practiced lockdown drills at school than engaging in super soaker battles.

      • M.A.F. says:

        Nevermind.

      • Amelie says:

My sister and I played with water guns as kids and my parents didn’t think twice about buying them for us. Kids know the difference between a real gun and a water gun. Never once did a water gun make me want to shoot a real gun with bullets. We had lots of fun at pool parties getting soaked… I understand people being uncomfortable with it but I don’t see the difference with the many violent video games people buy for their kids where the whole purpose is to kill the enemy with… video game weapons. It’s already been proven video games have no correlation with making children more violent. Pretty sure it’s the same thing with water guns.

When that opportunity finally arose for me to shoot a real gun last year (my friend is in the army and the day before she got married she organized a target practice in a safe manner for guests who wanted to try), I was terrified and sweating and shaking the whole time. But I made myself try it so I could try to understand why gun owners are so anti gun control. I never want to hold a real loaded gun again in my life.

      • KiddV says:

Some kids are into guns and some aren’t. My ex FIL bought my son western-style pistols so he could play cowboy. My son wasn’t interested at all, he never played with them. But, give him a water pistol and he was all for it, but that was fun water/pool play. Even when he grew up and started playing video games, he wasn’t into the shooting ones, he liked the racing ones better.

I don’t think a kid is going to shoot up a school or movie theater just because he played with water guns. Or even play guns. That’s not the cause of it.

      • me says:

        @Millennial

You make a good point about the “lockdown drills”. We didn’t have those growing up or ever even imagined a kid coming to school with a real gun and killing us. It’s a different time now and a much scarier one.

      • PrincessK says:

When I was a kid I had a gun too. I used buy a roll of these paper caps which you put in the gun and made a shot noise, I can picture them now. But those days were different, nothing like the level of violence in the world today.

    • magnoliarose says:

His father hunts and both of them seem more conservative so I don’t think it is something they would have cared about. They ARE toys and not the real thing. While it isn’t ideal it isn’t the end of the world. I don’t expect social awareness from them.
I don’t allow toy guns with my kids because my husband and I are very anti-gun. We don’t really have any friends who are pro-gun and their schools are the same. They are still small so it is easy to control at this point.

      • kacy says:

Where are we with t-shirt guns are those bad too now?

      • JustBitchy says:

Ask King Juan Carlos’ brother about guns. Wait, we can’t because he was accidentally shot my Juan Carlos.

      • CamoTime says:

Interesting that you feel this way but if you ever found yourself in a situation where you are protected by a gun i.e. a police officer discharging his weapon, you probably would change your tune.

    • JustBitchy says:

This ^^^. I abhore kids playing with guns. Give them a water balloon. I also really hate if the parent allows kid to point said toy gun at other people – faces no less. My family hunts a lot and we eat what we kill. Guns are no laughing matter.

    • CamoTime says:

      *eye roll*

  4. Liberty says:

They all looked cute and happy. There’s a comment for you. 😀

I am always reminded that in the book Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Lorelei was the special friend of Gus, the Button King of Chicago. There’s another comment for you.

  5. Maum says:

Aaaw come on she goes to that polo march every year!
She doesn’t look like she’s on show, she’s sitting in the sun, appropriately dressed, and is minding her kids.

I’m waiting for people to comment on the fact that George was playing with a toy gun…

  6. Badoosh2678 says:

She looks great and the kids are having a blast.

    • bettyrose says:

She really does look great, and totally relaxed.

      • jessica says:

@bettyrose i wish kate would dress more like this. She looks so much younger here compared to when she’s in those matronly clothes she usually wears.

      • Penny says:

@jessica my thoughts exactly!! When I was looking at the photos, with her hair “down” and light makeup, I thought she looked so much younger and happier…whoever thinks a “duchess style” is mandatory is doing these ladies a disservice, they look better as themselves

      • Lahdidahbaby says:

Yes, this was one of Kate’s best looks EVER.

      • Rayan says:

Kate always looks and dresses better in her candid shots! I think this is her true relaxed style because she always wears high street pieces in the pap/candid shots. Her Duchess style seems to be a uniform, but she’s far more comfortable in casual outfits.

    • tracking says:

      Adorable all around.

      • Ankhel says:

They are, aren’t they. Kate does look young and relaxed here. Her dress is pretty too.

  7. Sam Louise says:

Who the hell wears wedges to walk and skip up and down a hill and chase after their kids? A cute pair of flat sandals would have been the perfect match. I do like her dress though. I’m surprised there is no word or photo of little George with a toy gun. Other sites are having a fit about it! 🙂

    • HK9 says:

This is the woman who owns the “wedges of doom”, she’s gonna wear wedges every chance she gets. 🙂

    • Agenbiter says:

DF had a story implying Kate’s running was just joining in the fun, like Diana. But Kate was in wedges while Diana was barefoot, and it was odd that the kids were all standing around while Kate was rushing by.

Then it turned out she was running to congratulate Will’s team for winning (?)

    • Rainbow says:

She was sitting down in 95% of the photos taken. She only stood up when the match was over and went to congratulate William and his team. The shoes were fine as long as she could walk in them. I know some women who are more comfortable with some height on their shoes than flats that offer little support for the feet.

      • Agenbiter says:

“The Duchess dashed towards the tent after being called over by William’s team mate Malcolm …”

    • minx says:

Love her dress, hate the wedges, but I hate all wedges.

      • Milla says:

Me too. But Kate loves them and riding boots. At least they are comfortable.

      • I also hate the look of wedges, however, if one wishes to frolic in the grass in shoes that have height to them, they’re way more practical than heels and, yes, easy to run in if one is used to wearing them.

      • minx says:

Yes, if she likes them, more power to her. I just never warmed to them and they make my feet look gigantic.

      • Notes says:

I actually like wedges. Some folks , me included, do find them comfortable.

    • PrincessK says:

Yes , the only thing I didn’t like were the wedges, a pair of ordinary sandals would have been better but being in public maybe she did not want to dress down too much.

  8. Feeshalori says:

I love Charlotte perched on her mom’s feet with her glasses in her mouth and barefoot. And Kate hanging onto her hem. What a hysterical pose. She’s such a little star.
Whatever the usual motivation is for these pap pics, the family is beautiful.

    • Bella DuPont says:

      @ Feelshalori

Star indeed…….I’m starting to see shades of Princess Margaret. 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽

    • minx says:

Both kids are understandably tall, Charlotte in particular. I’m comparing them to my two at the same ages.

  9. Red says:

How does she look happy getting photographed versus just looking happy that she’s with her kids? Or just smiling because she knows she’s getting photographed and doesn’t want to look bad? I think she looks happy and relaxed but what do I know.

    • Mumzy says:

+1 Happy and relaxed. I think she looks absolutely amazing in these photos — healthy, young mom loving a beautiful early summer day with 2 of her kids who are playing peacefully without a care in the world. That’s a blissful moment for the mom of an infant. She looked great and probably felt it — having your photo taken from a distance in those brief moments in life where all seems well is not such a horrible thing. Being hounded by paps when you are feeling “off” — wearing something that doesn’t feel quite right, or after a spat with the Mr., or the kids are out of sorts and acting up…being snapped by paps then would be a nightmare. These are normal people in a fishbowl. Their every move is possibly going to be scrutinized by the world, from birth forward. Imagine trying to “get it right” by public standards…it would never be possible.

    • Milla says:

Photographers are not that near. I guess it is some deal brf has with them. Showing the little royals without making their lives miserable.

  10. Digital Unicorn says:

Expect to see more of these ‘pap strolls’ after every big event that is the first time for Meghan. There was a pap stroll the day after H&M’s wedding and now this after Trooping on Sat. These were approved by KP/the DoLittles, we can’t forget about them you know. If William/KP has a problem with the paps ‘hounding’ his family at ‘private’ events these would have been pulled, the fact is that there were 2 stories on the Fail about this, most were of Kate and the kids.

I’m going to call that after Megs day of events with TQ on the Royal train, there will a fresh set of pap shots of Kate and the kids frolicking in the sun. I’d bet money on it.

For the record I’m not interested in seeing ‘pap’ shots of them, as a British taxpayer I want to see them representing the Monarchy and the UK at official events – the kind of events that show a return on the nice life of luxury and privilege that we provide for you via our taxes.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

I agree. It’s clear to me she sees Meghan as competition. This is sad because it will be hard for them to develop a genuine friendship this way.

    • Betsy says:

      Yep.

They’re so transparent. I hope Meghan ups her style game and gets out there and works. I hope that after an exhausting maternity leave of setting up pap strolls that Kate and Will don’t work and Harry and Meghan continue to shine.

      • L84Tea says:

You hope that Kate and will don’t work? You want them to fail and be lazy? What an odd thing to hope for.

    • Mel M says:

Even though I loved seeing these pics and they really are very cute I thought the same. We never ever get pics like these. Sooo many! It was very obviously planned and ok’d my them. It just seemed a little too coincidental especially since I read that H and M got the loudest cheers when their carriage came out. But whatever, if that’s what it takes to get adorable photos like this I’m here for it lol.

      • Danielle says:

They’ve been attending these and being pictured at them for years. There’s pictures of George crawling at a polo match and even him right after C was born.

      • bluhare says:

        The last time was 2015.

      • Danielle says:

2015, not 2005. George has been pictured three out of his almost five years. And the pictures have always been authorized at these matches.

      • magnoliarose says:

This is unusual and not yearly or common. Whatever the motivation that is the truth. They had kept the children hidden and now they aren’t.

      • Veronica T says:

I can’t wait to see the mental gymnastics here when Meghan takes a year off for one kid!!!

      • Aurelia says:

The point is there is going to be more candid ‘family’ shots of the cambridges. The dynamic has defo changed. Before there was no photos. Gad remember the photo of georgies first birthday? It was side on with the dog FFS.

    • Nic919 says:

Since Louis is nowhere to be seen, it is safe to say that Kate can spend a few hours per week now doing engagements because she is clearly able to be away from him now for a few hours. She has recovered from pregnancy even though the stans want to suggest otherwise.

Charlotte and George were having a good time, which is nice to see. But I don’t particularly care either way if they are seen. It’s just annoying when they are used to deflect from Doug actual work. As for the toy guns, well I can see why some people have issues. It’s probably hard to get rid of them altogether but Kate knows they are being photographed. Then again this is a family that still hunts whole preaching animal conservation. They need to sort this out. I include Harry on this double standard as well.

      • Snap Happy says:

I didn’t fully “recover” from my pregnancy until my daughter was a couple months old. I couldn’t just sit at home because I had an older daughter. Is Louis even six weeks yet? Just because she is out doesn’t mean anyone knows what her body or mind feel to her.

      • Nic919 says:

She is able to leave the house for a few hours and doesn’t seem to be in physical pain. Would it be the worst thing if she met other people to give attention to a charitable cause for an hour or so once every few weeks? No one is asking her to run a marathon or even work an 8 hour day. And again it can’t be a concern to leave Louis for a few hours because she went to this polo event the day after Trooping. Clearly Louis is handling it or else she wouldn’t have done this.

      • Sabana says:

Yes, Kate has been really lazy over the years (and William and Harry too) and that infuriates me as a British taxpayer, down with the monarchy, get rid of the whole thing as far as I’m concerned.
But telling a new mother that since she can spend a few hours away from her newborn and she “doesn’t appear to be in physical pain” she should forgo her maternity leave… are you this harsh to every woman or is it just reserved for Kate?

      • Anitas says:

I criticise Kate for her general lack of interest and involvement but 6 weeks is way too early to expect her to start focusing on other things. You may be physically able to do things, but it can take months to get mentally fit for work. It’s amazing how your brain capacities change after you have a baby, I struggled for ages just with having coherent conversations with adults.

And we don’t know the full story, perhaps the baby was there off scene asleep and watched over by a nanny. They still sleep loads at that age (well, some of them). She had an undone button in the photo someone put up on Facebook which may mean she breastfed him on the go.

      • notasugarhere says:

Last time she had no problem being away from their daughter for eight hours at Wimbledon or a potential beach trip sans kids to get her SCUBA certs. They never have trouble being away from the kids for fun; it is being away from the kids for work that makes them sweat.

      • magnoliarose says:

I have a posse of children and I know right after birth I was able to function. A week after I was able to do most activities including light exercise and by 4 weeks I could work again. Women give birth all the time and it is natural. We aren’t precious glass that breaks once we have a baby. Some women have hard births, c-sections, and complications so I exclude them in this comment.
However, she is a fit young woman who had her third child. She can work. No one gives other mothers that kind of luxury so why should she get it? She’s not self-made.
How hard is it to host a luncheon or make appearances? A nice tea to discuss mental health? She isn’t out there doing back breaking manual labor for crying out loud.

      • Sabana says:

@magnoliarose, rural women in my country go and work the fields days after giving birth. I certainly would not say women are too precious and feeble to be able to work. But this is veering into uncomfortable territory, who are we to say which woman deserves leave and which woman doesn’t? Are privileged women not allowed to take maternity leave they are entitled to?
If we are talking about deserving better working conditions, yes I’d say everyone does, and that is why I’m anti-monarchy, and believe the whole thing should be done away with. I also agree that Kate is lazy and undeserving of the privilege she has married into. But this is a point that has been made a million times (and should be applied in general to the rest of the royals too), not brought up in this way regarding how deserving she is of maternity leave (based on seeing images of being relatively active). This is a bit distasteful and disappointing to me.
Hope it doesn’t feel like I’m picking only on you. Actually chose to reply to you because you’re one of the regular commenters I like, esp your comments about fashion stuff.

      • notasugarhere says:

Sabana, you’re entitled to maternity leave in the UK if you work full-time for one year prior to the birth. When have we ever seen Kate Middleton work a 40+ hour work week for a year solid?

      • Sabana says:

@notasugar, girl none of these people really “work” do they?! Meghan is going to work 40 hour weeks you think? And if and when she has a baby, should she not take maternity leave because she is young and fit and hasn’t worked for 40 hours a week for a full year prior to having said baby?
My point was that there is a lot to criticise about Kate (and ALL the royals, the whole system of hereditary privilege funded by taxpayers for goodness sake), but I personally found it distasteful to actually say stuff like, obviously you can see she looks fine so she needs to get out there right now. As if you shouldn’t be entitled to leave unless you’re doing back breaking labour. Hope that was clear! Of course I know they are all lazy lol.

      • Anitas says:

@magnoliarose Congrats, you’re a super Mum. I don’t have a posse of children, just one, but by week 6 I was still only just able to brush my teeth and randomly breaking into tears. I guess I’m made of precious glass. Good for you that you were able to go back to work by week 4, but you shouldn’t be expected to. Even if you were a duchess. Hosting luncheons on mental health in a public arena inviting media scrutiny to your own mental health less than 2 months post-partum? Sounds like a nightmare.

Not to mention if she did put in appearances right now, she’d just be accused of trying to steal attention from Meghan. If I were her I’d do exactly the same as her right now, focus on my family for the time being, whilst other people are in the limelight.

      • minx says:

I think each new mother has to decide for herself, and it’s really no one else’s business.

      • Aloe Vera says:

I didn’t fully recover from my births until the kids were 12 months old. Theres a reason for maternity leave – its not just for physical recovery, but mental recovery too AND for ensuring that plenty of time of spent with the new baby.

      • TuxCat5 says:

@minx: If other people are expected to pay for maternity leave for new mothers, and pick up the extra work load in their absence, then how much time new mothers take off for maternity leave is definitely other people’s business.

      • notasugarhere says:

Sabana I’m pointing out that her fans often rant about “she’s earned maternity leave” when in fact, she hasn’t. She’s lazy when she isn’t pregnancy, she’s lazy when she is pregnant, she’s lazy after she delivers.

      • minx says:

        TuxCat5–do you have kids?

      • Aurelia says:

I only had one child but by day 2 I lost my shizz. But I assure all of you if I had a driver, multiple domestic staff, a day nanny and a night nanny, hairdresser, nutritionalist, make up artist, time to exercise and shrink down to a post partum size zero, I would have been cool as. I could have even managed to work a few hours per month.

    • Plshelp says:

She’s been photographed at these events for years, even before MM came along. Why is this now suddenly about Meghan?

      • homeslice says:

Because some people are irrational when it comes to both Kate and Meghan…

      • M.A.F. says:

        because conspiracy theories!

      • Lisette says:

Because Harry and Meghan are the saviours of the monarchy, don’t you know! For whatever reason, their stans think the future king and queen should bow into the shadows.

    • gm says:

It could be coincidence but I think someone wants to make sure W&K are also receiving positive media coverage. IMO, no need to bother. In the long run, the public will get used to M and the media attention will decrease, also as the younger generation grows up and W & K, M & H become middle age the attention will also naturally decrease. I am curious what the future holds for the BRF as a whole.

    • PrincessK says:

What “pap stroll” did Kate do after the wedding?

    • Lisette says:

Pap stroll? Come on. Kate’s been attending this for years and even brought George before. Not everything is about Harry and Meghan.

    • Rayan says:

Meh… Harry and Meghan have staged their own pre-arranged pap shots too, and they’ll probably continue doing the same thing in the future. It’s a good way for them to control what gets out and what doesn’t. I don’t see anything wrong with it. Everyones always moaning that we don’t get to see the kids a lot so these moments are perfect.

  11. phaedra says:

A little embarassed to ask this: how is the name “Isla” pronounced? IS-la or EES-la, or EYE-la?

  12. Gigi LaMoore says:

Funny that all of a sudden she is so lively and engaged.

    • cher says:

      Funny is correct term…

    • Lisette says:

Get a life, she’s been attending polo matches for years. They’re supposed to shut themselves away just because Harry got married?

      • Rayan says:

Yesss! Kate needs to stop being so tall and happy, she needs to stop playing with her kids! It’s all about Meghan and Harry now…. don’t cha know? They need to hide away at Amner until the kids are teenagers!!

      • Aurelia says:

Hiding away at Amner is exactly what they used to do. LOLZ.

  13. G says:

The kids are very cute. But I laughed when I saw these pictures. This was pretty much s pap stroll.

    • Danielle says:

They’ve been pictured at these events for years.

      • Leyton says:

No, they haven’t. This is the first time for Charlotte and the second time for George since 2015.

        It’s been years!

      • Danielle says:

This is the third YEAR George has been pictured at a polo event. He’s almost five. More years than not he’s been pictured. This is the first year for Charlotte, and Kate’s been pictured since they were dating.

      • bluhare says:

The last polo event was 2015 which was right after Charlotte was born.

      • jessica says:

its weird because its been years since she’s attended

  14. Becks1 says:

I think she looks nice – I like that dress- but I wonder how dressy the event was? I know some polo matches are fancier than others. It seems the other moms (the two I have seen – the brunette in these pictures and then Autumn Phillips) were wearing jeans, which seems like the better choice? but if Kate was comfortable then whatever.

I do agree that this is so staged its hilarious. Well, not “staged” in that I think Kate would have gone to the match regardless, but there is a reason these pictures were allowed to be published the day after Meghan’s first Trooping.

    • cher says:

And, later this week we are expecting to see Meghan on her outing with the Queen…I anticipate more pap strolls out with the little ones to counter balance the above and help us remember who came first…lol

  15. Cee says:

I just LOL’d at Charlotte running around in a DRESS, doing cartwheels and headstands. Reminded me of when I was a child and my mother insisted on dressing me “like a girl” in dresses, frills, ribbons, etc when I would just ran around, end up dirty, or flashing everyone my underwear because, you know, I was being a child.

  16. harla says:

    Don’t forget about meeeee!!

  17. marcy says:

Do they never sit on blankets for these matches?

  18. Lainey says:

It wasn’t a pap stroll though, the royal photographers were given op notes and an area to stand and take pics like they do at royal work events.Usually theres only one or two photogrpahers at polo events especially when its only Wills, there was loads of them there yesterday. They were told the family was there and that they could photograph them.
And I agree we’re going to get many more of these on the coming months/years.

  19. FHMom says:

Kate looks like any other mother out with young kids. This may have been a photo op, but it doesn’t seem forced. Everyone looks like they are having a good time, and the kids are comfortable with their mom and cousins.

    • Elisa says:

      +1
If Kate’s intention was a pap stroll, props to her making it look so natural and relaxed. Her dress is lovely.
Also, Charlotte is a real star!

    • Rayan says:

But but but Kate and William are soo estranged from the rest of the family. They really don’t spend time with their cousins…. It’s all for show. Lol.

  20. Melania says:

They did a paps stroll. What a surprise! LOL

  21. AJ says:

If we see some more “perfect” family photos after Meghan’s events with the Queen, then I will be convinced of the competition theories.

  22. KiddV says:

Kate looks good! The dress looks great on her, even better than the model on the website. And I love the shoes. They’re usually not the best for chasing kids, but honestly, I wore shoes like that chasing my kid around. If you’re used to heels it’s not hard to run in them.

The kids are adorable. Charlotte is a star.

    • Erinn says:

I’m pretty clumsy and I’ve ‘jogged’ after my niece in wedges. There are far worse shoes. I think she looks great here, though. And my goodness – they truly make some gorgeous kids.

  23. Barry Iris says:

I wish Kate would have dressed charolette in shorts.

  24. Rainbow says:

They’ve always allowed photos to be taken at polo matches since these events are covered by the media and not some paparazzi hiding in the bushes. She’s shown up a couple times by herself or with George before Meghan was even in the picture. William was playing so they showed up for support. Autumn and Peter Phillips were there like they’ve always been, as well.

The photos are great and shows Kate looking genuinely happy and engaged with her children. She loves being a Mum and the kids are so lively and happy. This is the most relaxed I’ve ever seen her since she got married. She’s not stick thin either and looks very healthy.

  25. minx says:

    Charlotte is a hoot.

  26. Bella DuPont says:

The micro-aggressions are piling up from Kate towards Meghan. Been trying not to see or acknowledge them, but it’s getting harder and harder.

    • Barry Iris says:

      Imagine when Meghan gets pregnant.

I bet Kate will want one more

      • homeslice says:

Just because everyone on this forum insists on comparing the two, doesn’t mean either of them give a hoot about what the other does…

      • perplexed says:

Kate makes cute kids. I’d want more. Heck, I want HER kids — they’re THAT cute.

      • Bella DuPont says:

        @ Barry Iris

Lol…..probably not, but it wouldn’t surprise me either. I still think Louis was a pre-emptive strike.

I’m still hoping I’m reading too much into the events of the last few months, but my instinct is telling me this isn’t going to go down too well. The Middletons are rattled.

      • Rayan says:

Having Louis was a pre-emptive strike? You are disgusting. Kate’s always wanted to replicate her own family. Some Meghan fans are unhinged. You’re just as bad as the DM commenters! Playing with her kids is now classed as a microaggression. Damn.

    • Luisa says:

      What micro-aggressions?

    • ChittyBangBang says:

      Waitaminute…

      Micro-aggressions?

  27. Nellyy says:

Pls I want to ask, before Meghan met Harry, did Kate ever go to Williams polo matches?

    • Plshelp says:

Yes, she did and she was photographed those times too. This is pretty much annual.

    • Rainbow says:

She’s always been there LOL. She brought George a couple of times since he was a baby and she showed up with Lupo once.

But of course, that doesn’t fit the narrative that Kate is insecure of Meghan and is competing with her by using the kids, so people here just conveniently forget and omit the fact that Kate has always shown up to support William year after year.

      • Plshelp says:

Thank you rainbow. I’m not Kate’s biggest fan but I’ve started defending her more because I think some of the hate she gets is too much and not entirely based in reality.

      • Nic919 says:

She was last there in 2015. She doesn’t attend the polo event every year. Pointing out facts isn’t hating.

      • Rainbow says:

So she still attended before Meghan arrived on the scene, right? So this isn’t driven by anything against Meghan since Kate has been at these polo matches years before.

      • Luisa says:

@plshelp, exactly how I feel. I don’t really want to defend her because I’m not a fan, but it’s insane how she is nitpicked on that I find myself doing it more and more. But I think it is helpful to ignore most of it as it is very irrational.

      • Rayan says:

But with Meghan pointing out facts is always seen as hating.

    • perplexed says:

Yes. She was usually in jeggings and a striped shirt of some kind.

I’ve seen pictures of her kissing William on the cheek after winning a trophy.

Diana was also at Charles’s polo matches. Heck, Diana and Charles were at war with each other and sleeping with other people, but you can still find photos of them kissing each other happily at these things. I think the wives generally attend.

Meghan will likely attend when Harry plays.

    • notasugarhere says:

Reminded of the time she showed up for a 1 hour event in the woods with impoverished urban kids. Full makeup and a wearing few thousand in clothes. Took Lupo and ignored the kids most of the time. Did manage to give them a lecture about how they should turn off the tv and go to the country more. Missing the point of the charity that these kids cannot afford to go to the country, Katie.

Then she hopped on a helicopter, managed to change somewhere along the way, and showed up at William’s polo match that afternoon in dress and heels. William reciprocated by showing more affection for the dog than his wife.

So yes, she’s shown up to these before. Prime “get photos taken” spot, but as others have pointed out, they’ve kept the kids away for 3 years.

  28. Busyann says:

We knew this would happen. Kate and her mother would come up with a way to keep the spotlight on them after a Meghan sighting. I thought it would be candids of just Kate but they really upped the ante with this one. My guess is she will be papped again on Friday, but this time, they will include Louis. That’s the ultimate look at me shot. This really highlights Kaiser’s assertion last week. Duchess do little is scrambling and doesn’t know what to do other than use her kids. If it gets bad enough, she may come back early from maternity leave…I wouldn’t be surprised.

What I find awesome in all of this is Meghan and Harry have gone silent. Meghan doesnt pop out unless it’s for an event. They know. They must know that there is a little bit of competition going on here. For their longevity it’s probably better that they let Kate do her pap walks and stay in the background unless it’s necessary. Just like I think Kate will be papped after MM and HM’S event, I think Meghan will purposefully go dark.

  29. Starryfish says:

How is it that with all of the “candid” shots that we get of the Cambridges, we somehow never manage to get any where super hands on dad Wills is seen with his kids?

  30. Anitas says:

    Sorry, double post.

  31. homeslice says:

Love the pics! The kids are so cute, and I tend to like Kate’s casual style soooo much better than her formal.
I have no idea why these pics seem to be inciting drama. She’s not allowed to leave her house for an outing while on maternity leave?? Some are just so irrational when it comes to MM and Kate…

    • Rainbow says:

Either people only started following royal news since Meghan was revealed as Harry’s girlfriend/fiancee or some people forget that Kate has attended this event many times before.

Kate is so insecure of Meghan, she started attending polo events years back as William’s girlfriend to one up Harry’s wife. 😀

    • M.A.F. says:

Nope, because THERE MUST BE DRAMA!

    • Enn says:

Stan! Troll! Kate is threatened by Meghan and not at all comfortable taking her kids to a polo match to hang out with their cousins. Publicity! Thirst!

      Or something.

    • Marr says:

“She’s not allowed to leave her house for an outing while on maternity leave??”

Ummm, photogs taking pictures of them while out and about isn’t the same with publishing said pictures though. If we can see these it’s because they want us to see them. Applies to everyone in the BRF.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about getting more adorable kiddies pictures. In all this the public wins lol. But it still is what it is.

  32. Akua says:

Dear Megan fans, not everthing is about her… it was a charity polo march and if they want to set pap photo then let them. What is about about Kate that bothers you. If the dolittes want to staged then again let. I don’t like her or normal bill, she is lazy and boring. Pls.. English is not language

  33. ChillyWilly says:

LMAO @ “Buttons Come Lately”! Good one, Kaiser! Kate looks really fresh and pretty. Love the dress and shoes. The kids are cute as heck, but why does it seem like Charlotte wears the same floral dress in red or blue at every outing? is it a law that Royal babies only wear red or blue?

    • Aurelia says:

Kates figure looks so much better with slightly more weight. Her clothes look better on her as she has some shape. Her face is fresher will a little fullness too.

  34. Lexa says:

I really think the Cambridges can’t win when it comes to releasing pictures of their kids or being at events like this—it’s always the narrative that they’re either using them for PR or they’re hiding them away and not preparing them for royal life. People on this site have been saying for years they want to see more of the kids and especially the kids being normal and carefree… but when the Cambridges do just that, it’s definitely because Kate—someone who finally seems to have relaxed somewhat into her role—is desperate for attention or they’re pulling attention from Meghan?

Not everything is about Meghan or in response to Meghan, good grief. Like someone said above, a huge component of their job is generating good PR for themselves/their family in addition to their causes. If anything, it’s great to have a lift with a year full of weddings, new babies, more shots and events with the kids now that they’re older, etc. But, okay, let’s just default on insecure Kate scheming to take her kids to a fun event she’s already brought George to twice.

These polo snaps seem pretty standard and agreed upon by all members of the royal family. I think an event like this IS a good way to acclimate the young kids to being captured by distant cameras without putting them in the stressful situation of having to be “on.” The photos are sweet and show a loving family, and I’m happy the Cambridge kids seem to get on so well with Savannah and Isla.

    • Luisa says:

@Lexa, totally agree with you. They really can’t win. They are either cold and standoffish or they are trying to upstage Harry and Meghan. Another hilarious narrative is that whenever Meghan wears something not great, it is deemed to be very Kate-eque, something Kate would wear, Kate must be advising her or even sabotaging her. Lol.
So if Kate shows up to work (which is what everyone desires surely), it is due to the Meghan competition. If she doesn’t, it’s Kate being lazy. If Meghan shows up, it’s because she has amazing work ethic. If she doesn’t, it’s because she won’t be allowed to out work Kate.

      • Kelly says:

“So if Kate shows up to work (which is what everyone desires surely), it is due to the Meghan competition. If she doesn’t, it’s Kate being lazy. If Meghan shows up, it’s because she has amazing work ethic. If she doesn’t, it’s because she won’t be allowed to out work Kate.”

Yup, you’ve nailed the constant narrative here. I honestly like both women and am not a fan of how they frequently seem to be pitted against one another on this site. It’s just nasty.

      • Maria says:

        Very well said. Totally agree.

      • Jan90067 (aka Imqrious2) says:

        👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    • Yes, these are all valid comments.

  35. HeyThere! says:

That jealous b wore a sundress and played with her kids outside her house!!! How dare she!!! Lol Shesh…she has gone to these for years. Probably enjoying some time with just the older two. Anytime she leaves her house it’s a pap stroll. Is she not suppose to leave her house?

    • Veronica T says:

Kate said to Wills “I’m so upset at all the good
Press I got at Trooping the Colours and at all the criticism Meghan got for that shoulder -baring dress and messy hair that I’m going to take the kids to your polo match. Make sure you wave and kiss me and I’m going to make sure Charlotte wears sunglasses and is adorable and George cries so we get sympathy. Mummy told me to do this!!!”
      /sarcasm

      • Marr says:

Kate said to Wills “I’m so pleased at all the good press I got at Trooping the Colour and at all the criticism Meghan got, that I’m going to let the peasants see the kids at your polo match. I’ve been saying this for years, they’re allowed to see us only when they’re not criticising us. Bring on the Meghan induced public sympathy!!!”

See how that goes both ways? /s

  36. Franny Days says:

Aw these pics are cute. Kate looks super cute and happy just like the kiddos.

  37. perplexed says:

If she really wanted to “upstage” Meghan, she would have brought out Louis. But I don’t see him in any of the photos. A picture of Louis, the baby we haven’t seen since he was born, would be a real attention-grabber. Yet, I can’t find one. So I really don’t think she’s thinking about PR right now.

George will probably have to play polo someday. Might as well bring him to these things.

Both Kate and Meghan are living in the public eye, and Kate is the future Queen and mother of the future King. She’d literally have to erase her existence to avoid a conflict of being seen somewhere at the same time as Meghan. She might as well just go on about her business as usual. They’re both pretty ladies who don’t look like Camilla (and I really don’t think Camilla will mind me saying this) — they’re both going to be covered by the media. And, yeah, I’m going to say it — no matter fun Camilla might be, I don’t think anyone cares about what she’s up to (unless it’s to figure out how she managed to land Charles away from Diana).

    • DIRTNAP says:

I am looking forward to photos of Louis. Besides being a darling baby, I thought I spotted a dark mark on the bottom of his lower lip in the photos of him leaving the hospital. I couldn’t tell if it was a shadow of the blanket pulled up close to his face or a birthmark. I really do have a life and usually don’t pay close attention to such things but it caught my eye. My child has a birthmark on the neck and I always smile when I see it.

    • Marr says:

Don’t worry, we’ll see Louis till next monday for sure.

      • Rayan says:

Nope, we won’t. Just like we didn’t see him at Trooping the colour like someone on here said haha.

      • Marr says:

Good thing you’re not betting real money on this.

      • Aurelia says:

We only saw George as a baby at his christening, then in Australia/NZ whilst willie barred photos of him in the U.K. Then on his first birthday with the side on photo and the dog hanging out the window shot. We basically didn’t see char for her first year accept at her christening and then on the sofa photos. I bet we will see a lot more of Louis in his first year. The agenda has changed.

  38. Leyton says:

Charlotte is absolutely adorable. I do wonder why they keep her in dresses. She clearly like to get down and roll around and it’s perfectly fine and fun but put her in shorts or something. Mia (Zara’s daughter) is very active as well and they have her in pants and shorts instead of dresses a lot so she can freely roam.

As for the clear pap pictures. Any bets on news about Louie’s christening on Thursday? Maybe a new picture of him? I hate to be THAT person but the Cambridge’s timing on all of this is so suspect. This is most we’ve seen of these kids in nearly 3 years.

    • Nic919 says:

Be careful because if you point that out you are going to be deemed irrational. Also don’t mention how she is able to chase after her kids on wedges but asking her to show up for an hour on occasion to raise awareness about a charitable issue for the sick or those less fortunate, most of whom pay taxes to support her life of luxury, is also being unreasonable and asking too much of her.

      • Laura says:

and all those who criticise Meghan are deemed racists. Oh well.

      • notasugarhere says:

Not all criticism of Meghan is race-based, but to ignore that race drives a lot of it is irrational.

      • Marr says:

        +1000

      • Rayan says:

So what about the WOC who criticise Meghan. Are we all racist too?? I’m assuming you are white by the tone of all your comments.

      • Olenna says:

@Laura, you know that is absolutely not true, and notasugarhere is right. To ignore it is to allow it. But, if you’ve been reading CB royal threads for even just a couple months, you’d notice Meghan gets criticized for a number things: her divorce, her relationship break-ups, her acting career, her ignorant relatives, her pets, her hair, her clothes, etc. Some of it is racism, some bigotry, some classicism, some envy (women of any color) and some psychosis.

    • Carey says:

Totally agree. We have seen more of G&C in the past few weeks than we have seen since last summer. I appreciate they usually attend this event but the whole thing seems staged – the picture perfect family. The Kate fans will be delighted to see the children and cynics, like me, will be smirking because we predicted some pap strolls and photos with the children.
I’m sure there will be an announcement about Louis’ christening soon to coincide with any publicity for H&M

    • magnoliarose says:

It is obvious her pattern of behavior has altered. That isn’t hating on anyone but it is fact. Can’t someone like someone and still recognize they play media games? They ALL do it. Nothing happens by accident and when someone’s pattern of behavior changes and it seems to be directly related to something else it is easy to take note.
It doesn’t mean Kate is a horrible human being. It just means she realizes the days of lolling around phoning it in are over.
Hopefully, she runs with it and decides there is more contentment to be had by being useful. It should be on her and not through her children’s popularity. Photos with the sweetlings are great but seeing her put in the hours on her own will go further. The public will get tired of cute child and mother during these economic times if there is nothing else backing it up.

      • Honey says:

MagnoliaRose, I agree. However, I don’t necessary think the photos that we have seen of Kate & kids is because Meghan has Kate on the ropes as some other people have stated. IMO the PR game Kate & Co. are playing is that of Kate-the-Earth Mother. I think we are beginning to see a careful and strategic recasting of her image.

I think Kate’s team is beginning to craft a PR picture of her that is in direct contrast to Meghan Feminist Warrior Princess. By carving out and recrafting her image( pushing Kate as mom), her team is offering her both a shield to hide behind and the public a compassionate and relatable image. After all, unless the mom receive some sort of welfare/public aid, who can legitimately attack mom’s and get away with it?

Kate doesn’t have to up her game as long as she stays pretty, Madonna-like and shrouded in diapers and pre-schoolers. She doesn’t have to be “intelligent”, a good public speaker, knowledgeable or even enthusiastic about public service. Why? Cause she’s a mom—a stay at home mom no less (basically). Leave all of that other stuff to the anti-male shoulder exposing feminist that recently married into the family. Kate’s image will be softer, more receptive, feminine and traditional. Meghan is the gift Kate’s PR has been waiting for.

That’s the circle that I see being drawn around Kate and for the reasons I mentioned; however, I don’t think those lines and/or circles will benefit either woman in the end.

      • Natalie S says:

Her fans insist that Kate has very little agency. They treat her as fragile and benign. Nothing is ever her responsibity.

So, after the wedding, Kate was papped in a cheap Zara dress (she’s just like us!) with a similar neckline to Meghan’s wedding dress and her hair tidily up in a DIY bun using a cheap tool. At the wedding, Kate wore a dupe of her outfit for Charlotte’s christening. There was that weird color coordination with Liz and Camilla. Now we get more pictures of the kids. What will we get next?

      • Bea says:

@Honey that mom image you’re suggesting to re-craft Kate into as a direct contrast to Meghan’s feminism warrior princess (what? lol) will only last until Meghan and Harry start having children. Then what’s next?

Kate’s mom image doesn’t need anymore refinement. That’s already her strong point. Perhaps Kate should focus on improving her work ethic when she returns from maternity leave while balancing it with being a mom of three children under the age of 6. That would resonate with people more than anything else she may try to counterpoint the arrival of Meghan, as you suggested.

      • Nic919 says:

Why can’t Kate’s image just be of someone who gives back to her country by raising awareness to various issues after years of not doing much at all? Sophie nearly died giving birth to Louise and yet she managed to get back to doing engagements and both Louise and James are well rounded. It’s always Kate who needs all the excuses not to give back and it’s been 7 years. If she developed a sense of duty then it would not matter what Meghan did or did not do.

  39. Leyton says:

The Cambridge’s built this bridge. They wanted to be treated like private citizens and jumped on anyone who took pictures of them or their children. Even Royal photographers on twitter were talking about how KP would get on them and issue warnings but now they want the attention so it’s “HEY SEE OUR KIDS!”.

It’s all coming back onto them because people see through the BS. The “cat and mouse” game they played with the press is no more now that they can basically stalk Meghan down. So of course they parade the kids out because that’s the only thing remotely close to interesting about them.

    • Rayan says:

Nobody is stalking Meghan down. Good grief. Name one instance? Harry has made sure that will Never happen.

  40. Busyann says:

For me, it’s not about the photos of Kate out and about at annual events. It’s the sum whole of the change we have seen since Meghan. I will gladly say let’s not compare the two, and will admit that this is an event Kate and fam has attended in previous years. However the pap shots are increasing in frequency and there is a pattern. They usually follow events where Meghan has been seen. We have had a least 3 pap strolls this year alone when previously we would go months without even 1. I don’t think it’s obvious to those with a passing interest in the BRF, but I was a Kate fan after their wedding and consistently up until the last year or so. Its the changes that I have seen in the last year that have really opened my eyes to a lot of what critics have said about Kate. I want to root for her and really I think she is a great mom, but she’s human and I think we are seeing the more competitive side to her. Let’s not forget her past. Kate got the ring by manipulating her image in the press after their 2007 breakup.

    • bluhare says:

      I agree with you.

    • Becks1 says:

very well put. It’s not that these pictures/this event as an isolated incident. there is a very clear pattern emerging that’s almost amusing in terms of how obvious it is. When was it that kate was papped at the train station or out shopping or whatever – right after the engagement was announced or right after MM’s first event?

Kate and Will can go weeks, months even without any photographs in the press. Is that because they aren’t leaving KP or Anmer? No, its because the pictures aren’t being published. So when pictures are published you have to ask why.

At first I did not believe the theory that she is doing it on purpose but as time has gone on it has become more and more obvious.

    • Lizabeth says:

Totally agree @Busyann & Becks1. While Kate has attended this event before she has not attended for several years. And while she may have attended the Horse Trials where she was papped with the children two weeks ago, I don’t believe she has been photographed there for years. We’ve seen more of the children since late April than we often do for most of the entire year (unless the children are taken on a foreign tour.) Some of that was due to Louis’s birth & H&M’s wedding. But even with Pippa’s wedding last year we didn’t see this much of them.

I don’t know that it’s a matter of being jealous of Meghan per se, but I do think there is a “what about me/us” concern. So I don’t see how W&H can continue to share a PR team. H&M don’t need to directly compete in this childish game, but their work and work announcements need not to be stomped on either.

Prince Louis is 7 weeks old today & while it may be too soon to expect Kate to do a 1-hr charity event, if these “see our happy family out having fun” PR shots continue, it seems to me it’s going to be a little hard to justify why Kate needs to be on leave from royal work until October. (Well, on leave except for attending Wimbledon and attending her own child’s christening– I guess both count as work.)

    • Veronica T says:

So what if she is doing this purposely?

      • Bea says:

I agree, so what. People love seeing the kids no matter the motivation behind it. However, there’s nothing wrong with having a discussion that confirms what people were expecting from Kate. It’s not just us, royal photographers had similar comments.

      • Natalie S says:

The reporters and photographers must be enjoying this. Kate and William finally want some press.

    • magnoliarose says:

      @Busyann I said the same.

  41. Aes says:

Much of the affection we all have for William & Harry is because we saw images like these of them when they were young.

  42. Claire says:

Beautiful mom and children. Kate always appears so demure and classy. Absolutely gorgeous!

  43. Violet says:

I think Kate looks terrific, relaxed and happy with her kids. Dress is pretty if a little milk-maid-y, but I think motherhood really suits her, I think she truly loves being a mother. They’re lovely photos.

  44. notasugarhere says:

” She seemed very summery. And very happy to be pap’d along with her kids. Hm.”

    Got it in one, Kaiser.

  45. MeghanNotMarkle says:

The cynic is me is still there but Kate looks genuinely happy and the kids are no worse for the wear being lapped outdoors with their cousins.

If Kate could manage this more often and show up to do her job, I wouldn’t say much about her living a permanent vacation. She always seems most relaxed in her £40 dresses and those fugly wedges than she does in her fugly £3000 coatdresses that all look alike. I doubt her life with Whiny Will is easy but she can carve out a bit of her own life and make something of herself to go with her title. Then she wouldn’t need to set up these pap strolls to try to stay relevant. This game is so old now. You can’t scream “Give us our privacy and don’t take photos of our kids!” and then set up to have your privacy invaded and photos published of the kids. Do your job and trot the kids out every now and then and nobody will make a big deal out of it.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Interesting comment about the clothes and yes she does look better in her Zara outfits than the high end couture clothes that she butchers with alterations. The cheaper high street outfits don’t wear her (like the designer ones do).

I do love me some Zara.

      • PrincessK says:

The Zara dress is sold out at the moment.
It is very nice but not for me as it is only suitable for tall women, I would say on anyone under 5′ 8″ it would be a full length dress.

    • Peg says:

Willian is a surly guy, he must be a pill to live with.
Both Willian and Harry are lazy, don’t take after their father in serving.

  46. All About Eve says:

All those criticizing Kate for this appearance, was Meghan’s appearance at last year’s polo staged as well? You know the one where Harry & Meghan shared their first public kiss for the whole world to see. Just asking for a friend.

    • Busyann says:

Why yes, yes it was. Those photos were officially staged to roll Meghan out. This new Kate phase seems to be for the sole purpose of keeping her front and center.

      • Violet says:

@Busyann – the “sole” purpose? Really? Like, she really hasn’t ever shown up at William’s first polo event, and being out with her kids isn’t something she actually likes, and she doesn’t really enjoy these outings?! What “new Kate phase?” She hasn’t ever been photographed out with her kids before?! They’ve been showing photos of them out as a family since the day George saw the light.

I mean, really? Every single breath Kate takes or move she makes has to do with Meghan Markle?!

      • Sabana says:

@violet. Why yes. Someone even suggested that Louis was a “preemptive strike” (!! Imagine bringing a whole new human into the world for the sole purpose of competing with one’s sister in law). Apparently she might even have another one if and when Meghan gets pregnant. Competitive child bearing!

      • Violet says:

@Sabana – “Apparently” – so, someone overheard Kate and William whispering at night in bed that if Meghan gets pregnant, they should, too? With Kate’s miserable first trimester and all and at 36, she should get pregnant with a fourth kid within a year of Louis’s birth if Meghan gets pregnant within the year?! Who is the source of the “apparently”? Let me guess – Lainey?

Honestly, sometimes this stuff is so OTT. Kate always said she wanted three children like her own family, and she did just that.

Poor Kate – she should have had the decency to keep herself and her kids out of sight for at least six months after Harry’s wedding. The gall of the next Queen Consort of Great Britain being seen out in public with two of her three kids within a day of the Trooping!

      • MeghanNotMarkle says:

@Violet As much as they scream about their privacy and not wanting photos of the kids, Kate has a habit of suddenly being papped with them whenever a) the workshy talk kicks up and b) now when Meghan has been at an event or is otherwise making headlines. If you’ve followed them long enough then you see how it works. These polo shots have always come on the heels of some event necessitating PR intervention.

    • Luisa says:

Yes, all the public appearances for all these people are carefully managed for maximum PR gain. Except that when Kate does it it’s due to jealous competitiveness, when Harry and Meghan do it it is savvy, work ethic, blissful and true love for the ages.

  47. ASHBY says:

I’m no fan of Kate, but I really like these pics, although I have no idea, if they are staged or not.

I still can’t reconcile her waiting around for William’s proposal for years and having no career after attending such a prestigious school, and also her work etiquette is really not good.

But she looks nice here, not skin and bone and the kids are having some fun outside.

The dress looks like easy early summer fun dress and the small buttons don’t bother me at all.

For once she doesn’t look stiff, matronly or immature and the wedges seem more like espadrillas to me, which I love wearing in the summer.

Maybe a bit lower heel, I don’t know why she is so stuck in the heel world, because she is not exactly short and does not need to wear heels almost always.

  48. Keis says:

Maybe she’s wearing a dress because it’s more comfortable for her post partum?
As for the wedges, for her, those must feel like flats. I remember she used to wear them in her early engagements.

  49. JAGirl says:

Cute kids but it’s so obvious now.

Really? Pretty much after every event Meghan attends we see Kate and her kids when we rarely saw them unofficially before.

I just hope she doesn’t overdo it and have it back fire on her.

  50. Starlight says:

No sign of Harry playing his beloved polo with his brother?

    • CharlieCanada says:

I saw one pic with Harry in it. He was standing in the same line as Bill, wearing his polo gear, when Bill was being presented with a gift of pink boots. I don’t know why there weren’t more.

      • PrincessK says:

If Harry was actually there very odd….it means that these photos were carefully taken to only have focus on Kate and her kids because a picture of Harry in polo gear, with beads of perspiration on his brow, would trump a picture of Kate any day.

      • Aurelia says:

Very interesting, a media ban on harry being photographed that day.

  51. JP says:

Honestly I just want to know why they didn’t bring a blanket? One of those handy zip up picnic mats even? Grass makes me itchy. She and the children look perfectly happy.

  52. notasugarhere says:

So many brand-new posters on here defending everything Kate does. Hmmm.

    • Natalie S says:

@Nota. It’s because Kate is so regal and Meghan is only married to the 6th in line. It has been determined a few weeks after the wedding that Meghan is a great disappointment that has not lived up to her hype while Kate is the future queen bringing stability to the monarchy!

But that’s okay, Liz will throw Meghan a few crumbs here and there and that will be nice for her. Meghan will be monitored to make sure she doesn’t bring down the monarchy.

Also, don’t pit the two women against each other and by that I mean only if it’s Kate in an unfavorable light.

      • Lizabeth says:

Wow @Natalie. I agree Meghan is a strong woman but to say she could “bring down the monarchy” & is a “great disappointment” after a mere 3 weeks of marriage is absurd. Almost as absurd as saying Kate is “stabilizing” the monarchy. About all that’s noticeably stable about Kate after more than 7 years as a member of the BRF is her laziness in doing public service. But as you say, let’s not compare the two women!

      • Natalie S says:

        I was being sarcastic.

      • Nic919 says:

No one has yet come up with a real justification as to why Kate cannot show up for an hour a week for a cause. “But she’s a mom” isn’t a good enough reason when we have seen have she’s clearly ok to attend Trooping and polo for several hours back to back. She was happy and running around too at the polo game, so she could certainly handle an hour of sitting down and looking interested about mental health. She has been infantilized to the point of no return.

Also, Maternity leave does not exist when you don’t have a job. In no country would she ever qualify for it because she has never worked a real job. And no one is saying she can’t leave the house/ palace. Of course she can and it proves she’s able to do a few things. She chooses not to. But keep on using the same tired arguments to try to excuse selfishness and laziness.

      • Lizabeth says:

Sorry @Natalie S. It’s hard to tell sometimes because the things you wrote HAVE been said in a serious way.

      • Piiia says:

At my country you do have maternity leave even if you haven’t have a job before it. You get paid very little but the state does pay you during your maternity leave. So in my country she would have maternity leave, same as every other woman. And it would be way longer than 2 months.

    • Enn says:

You say this in every. single. thread.

I’ve been reading CB since 2007.

      • Sid says:

She’s right though. I’ve been lurking on this site for years too and it is noticeable.

      • Sabana says:

But what exactly is the implication behind saying “so many new posters”? I don’t get it. As far as I can see, there is a handful of recognisable regulars and the rest are randoms.

      • Enn says:

@Sid personally, I’m commenting because I don’t like the Kate vs Meghan narrative. It’s insulting to both of them. It reminds me of the Diana vs Sarah magazine headlines from my childhood (yes, I’m that old). I’m also uncomfortable with tearing women down just for the sake of it. Here’s a mom, out with her kids at an event they skipped the last 2 years. Maybe it’s just easier now that they’re 3 and 4, almost 5? They can run around with their cousins and Kate can chat with Autumn.

Absolutely call her out for not wanting to work when her leave is up, but in the meantime, I think it’s overblown. So, maybe other people are coming from similar points of view?

      • Goats on the Roof says:

That’s the way of it, though, and probably with every gossip site everywhere.

I’ve been on celebitchy for ages…a lot of the “regulars” have cycled out through the years and new people come in and replace them. If they didn’t, we wouldn’t have this site to enjoy. I guess I just don’t get the snark about new posters.

      • Sabana says:

@Enn, I feel the same. It’s unpleasant and over the top that’s why I felt the need to comment after lurking and reading for a long time. I don’t think Kate is above criticism but it’s like a free for all now. Even stating that she doesn’t appear to be in physical pain so why should she get any leave? Goodness.

      • Natalie S says:

But @Enn, where the comments when it’s directed at Meghan? I was joking around in my post but all of those are criticisms directed at Meghan in a way meant to elevate Kate. How absurd is it to have already declared that Meghan hasn’t met expectations when she has been married for less than a month?

The women are being pitted against each other but there are plenty of Kate fans taking shots at Meghan so I don’t understand the protectiveness around talking about Kate. I think the whole thing is silly from a fan point of view and both women have their places, strengths and weaknesses. And I also think Kate shows pr agency in some of the decisions she makes and there’s no harm in speculating and gossiping about it.

      • Sabana says:

@natalie S, I know you didn’t ask me but here is what I think. I am not a Kate fan or a Meghan fan. But I felt the need to comment in defense of Kate because there are way more negative comments about Kate, and it’s gotten to the point where it feels a bit vicious even when it is about silly things.

I imagine there are worse things said about Meghan in the wider world, because people are terrible racists but I’m not talking about cesspit like Daily Mail. Here Meghan gets generally nice comments. And even a potentially nice thread about Kate, out looking nice with the kids, turns into, well, this. I agree with you there is no harm in gossip, it’s just begun to feel very ott and unbalanced lately.

      • Lexa says:

I’ve read this site for years but only started commenting recently because the tone of the Kate posts have gotten so much uglier over the last year in a way that often feels like pure fiction, or at least people piecing together a narrative using their interpretations or personal dislike and not, you know, actual fact.

I used to be a huge critic of her and seeing some of the comments here have made me wonder a few months ago if I had some kind of Kate Derangement Syndrome where I automatically assumed the absolute worst about her.

      • Sabana says:

@lexa, yep. It’s almost as if they are well aware of what will make the comment count go up eh?

      • Enn says:

@Natalie, I didn’t like Meg’s Trooping ensemble (or Kate’s), but I thought she looked beautiful at the garden party and absolutely radiant and stunning at the wedding. The only flaw from her wedding look was the strands of hair on the left, but I really think that’s down to the weight of the tiara – her stylist probably didn’t pin as tightly as needed. Her reception look was flawless and chic from head to toe.

I’m looking forward to seeing both Meghan’s fashion and work in the months to come. I’ve also said that if this was the kick in the pants Kate needed to work more, then all the better! I think she and Harry are adorably in love and she seems to want to be very involved her new role. She has a natural warmth and openness.

      • Natalie S says:

Part of that is seven years in, Kate doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore. I’ve been following along since 2009. As late as mid 2011, I thought people were being over the top but there are patterns where you can clearly see disengenous behavior.

The children are adorable but at this point Kate and William seem like entitled lumps who want to be normal but with a millionaire’s budget and it’s worn thin. That lack of obligation towards the public is off-putting and we’re seeing seven years of criticism. Meghan just started so opinions are going to be different. Who knows what it will be in seven years. They don’t have to be treated equally but if Meghan follows Kate’s track record things will change.

People don’t have to treat them equally until Meghan starts racking up the kind of missteps Kate made or Kate shows a more sincere effort in actually working when she’s done with maternity leave.

      • Natalie S says:

@Enn, I think it’s going to be enjoyable watching the contrast between Kate’s more traditional approach vs. whatever Meghan decides to do. They can be different without either being wrong or it being about royal protocol (it drives me batty when people use royal protocol to criticize or explain away things) or status. At the end of the day, I just want to gossip.

      • Ceedee says:

Agree with Sabana on why there are new commenters.

    • perplexed says:

If this site didn’t get brand new posters, there wouldn’t be a point to its existence and it would have to go out of business.

      • notasugarhere says:

That isn’t the issue. The issue is the sheer number of new posters, all ranting the same thing, which is what I find ever so Curious. A few weeks ago, some were proven to be the same person posting under different names and banned.

  53. Lady D says:

Almost the best she has ever looked. She’s just beautiful here.

    • CharlieCanada says:

I agree! In some of these photos she almost looks just as she did at about age 25 — natural, hair straight, little makeup, no botox. With the bit of extra weight, she looks youthful and fresh again, not like a Stepford wife. (I can even forgive the bodice button popping open because it’s too tight.) And what a joy to see little Charlotte and George having fun! They need to give the public more of this, like the Swedes do.

    • Wisca says:

She looks great with just a little extra weight. I wish women were not put under so much pressure to be rail thin She looks fantastic.

  54. tearose11 says:

Don’t care about Kate or MM bc Char & George photos can easily replace those two. They are too adorbs.

  55. Seraphina says:

Bottom line is that Kate is competitive. She will compete with MM regardless. The media will of course feed into because (shock) it sells papers and that equals money.

That said, I agree with the posters above who have stated we have been seeing a lot more of the kids lately, coincidence? Time will tell. And yes, they play the PR game, that’s how they survive. I can picture Ma Middleton pulling the marrionette strings and Pa Middleton in back I throwing back some scotch thinking: hell, she actually pulled it off.

And no one hates Kate, that’s a strong word to use when we don’t even know her. Am I a hater? YES! I would love to be in her shoes (even if they are sky high) and get to do what she does. And she has the platform to do good and all these years we have seen very little. That’s TRUTH.

    • Claire says:

Sure. How easy for you to say not knowing her life other than gossip blogs and magazines.

    • Rayan says:

I guess you don’t wear heels because she doesn’t wear sky high shoes lol. Not even close.

      • notasugarhere says:

5 inch heels plus a 1 inch platform. But no surprise, another brand new name being pro-Kate while not knowing facts.

  56. Claire says:

Just wondering if the people who intensely dislike Kate and were a member of the RF turn down the opportunity to be home with their children when they are very young?

    • Nic919 says:

She is at home with her kids. Asking her to step out of the house for an hour a week isn’t demanding too much. No one is making Kate work on an assembly line at a car factory.

    • notasugarhere says:

Claire, the rest of us pay our own bills.

  57. newwgirl says:

YES. I LOVE KATE AND THEM ALL ETC. BUT I See RIGHT THROUGH THIS. i realize the charlotte and the other kids are having these spontaneous moments. idk just a thought. anyways i feel like there is something going on, some tension. kate seems cool but a little more attentive also meghan seems relaxed with that aunty vybe. i expect more of these pics soon. but thats meghans game tho. she doesnt want the public to get tired of her. i love meghan but she knows what she doing when it comes to attention. too much outings will make people not miss you. so this thing with the queen better be good. these rare events make a big impact. she will get covers upon covers on thursday with the queen etc thats the aim. i read an article recently where it said that william was upset that harry and meghan had an outing the same day. thats why he cut his hair etc to draw attention. it was said that hundreds of people show up for meghan and harry. if harry and meghan play there cards right then they will be the biggest thing on earth.

  58. Busyann says:

I’m a long term lurker and have been reading this site for years. From time to time I would pop in to post about Kate, and defend her because I noticed the viciousness of the comments. It isn’t new here and some of it, isn’t entirely earned. BUT, as I said upthread, in the last year or so, I really started to see the negative parts of Kate that are so often glossed over. She doesn’t want to work, but she could get away with maintaining her keenness to hit the ground running, without actually hitting the ground, because there wasn’t anyone to compare her to. I don’t see anyone being irrational, in fact, I see more and more people calling Kate out for selling the same story. In recent months, that story has changed and it’s now all about Kate the great mom and look, look Kate really is the new Diana because she’s a mom! And look look Kate knows the appropriate social gatherings to wear off the shoulders dresses! Kate wins and Harry should divorce Meghan now!

Puhlease. Kate has turned passive aggressive in my opinion. But I could be wrong.

This site is fun, and it’s a good place to talk about things that we’re thinking when we see new images. 🙂

  59. Wisca says:

Pitting the two women against each other is not feminist & futile.

  60. Jenn says:

People who interpret SO much as jealousy are usually just talking about themselves.

    • Rayan says:

I actually agree with this. I think it’s the same when people say everyone is jealous of Meghan.

  61. Wetzi says:

she looks absolutely gorgeous and the kids are adorabale. Wonderful to see how comfortable the kids are with each other. There is one video where Savannah Philips pushes George down the little hill. LOL

  62. liriel says:

Here on celebitchy almost everyone agrees that the pictures are lovely, kids are so cute and Kate looks really happy and beautiful. The pics brightened my day!

  63. Shannon says:

She looks very pretty in these pics, that’s an awesome dress – very relaxed and summery, and the kids are adorable! But omg I laughed so hard at “Buttons-come-lately” LOL
