Jessica Chastain is hitting the promotional trail hard for her latest film, Woman Walks Ahead. In the movie, which is based on a true story, Jessica plays Catherine Weldon, an widowed artist and activist who travels from New York to North Dakota to paint a portrait of Chief Sitting Bull. While there. she faces a US Army officer, played by Sam Rockwell, engaging in a conflict with the Native Americans over the land.
On Monday, Jessica made an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert at New York’s Ed Sullivan Theater. She donned a rich green jumpsuit by Roland Mouret paired with floral Christian Louboutin boots. I love this color on her, it’s perfect for her skin tone and her recently chopped red locks. I am still not a fan of jumpsuits, but for whatever reason, I’m okay with this one. I do think the neckline is nice. My biggest issue, and now I sound like I’m haring on this, is the hemline on the pants. As much as those boots are cute, we’re seeing too much them. The pants are just too short.
After the taping, Jessica emerged in another jumpsuit, this time a white, sleeveless one with culotte pants featuring slits that went to above the knee and a black sash around her waist. She accessorized with gold platform heels. Again, another solid color choice, and I love the cut on the trousers, but the overall look doesn’t have any sort of “wow factor” in my opinion. However, I will give her “flair points” for the shoes. I’m a sucker for a platform heel. That lipstick color is also great on her, the red is a much needed pop of color here.
Monday evening, Jessica stepped out in a black suit for a screening of her new film at the Museum of Modern Art. This is “Corey’s job interview suit” all the way. It’s nicely tailored, smart and looks very nice on her. Of course, we’re also lacking any sort of excitement, but she’s attending a film event at a museum, so it’s appropriate.
Tuesday morning, Jessica was shown taking a break from the solid colors, strolling on the streets of New York City with a coffee in a casual floral dress with a sheer overlay. It’s a little “old lady” isn’t it? I think the short-sleeved, knotted overshirt is the issue here. I do like her strappy red satin heels and I’ve got no complaints about her cream colored, leather purse. That purse is actually really nice.

That dress and heels….she stole my Starbucks-run-outfit!!!
Anyway I think she looks nice enough in all these looks. I don’t love jumpsuits either but I recognize they’re here to stay for a while.
Also I don’t know why but I am very indifferent to her. I like what she is doing with pay equality, but she always falls flat for me as an actress. and I feel like any serious movie now has her in it.
HA!I know, now what will I wear when I’m on my daily morning coffee run? This dress plus red heels 👠 -Gotta up my game, guess my black yoga pants aren’t going to do it anymore !
The thing I never liked about jumpsuits was that you had to get undressed 100% to pee. Thus, I never got jumpsuits, either. Seems like an accident waiting to happen!
Is it just me or does “Corey’s interview suit” (hahaha!) add like 20 pounds to her otherwise tiny frame? I’m constantly amazed how the wrong cut, fit, camera angle, can literally add ten to twenty pounds to your frame, gaaaaah!
Yes the waist on the white and black jumpsuits is about 2-3 inches too low.
I think all of these outfits save the dress are pretty unflattering on her figure. Love the green color on the first outfit but otherwise I don’t think these outfits work.
My thoughts as well. She has a gorgeous hourglass figure but you wouldn’t know it from the fit of these outfits. I also like the floral dress, it’s pretty and summery, and I love the color of the green pantsuit but I’m not feeling the boots.
I thought the same thing. The fit is off on at least 2 of the 4 outfits for me. Green and black are particularly bad. The white jumpsuit is flow-y so I’ll give it a pass.
Otherwise, she looks great!
I think she is up a couple of pounds. Looks fine.
I like this new hairdo. It’s fresh.
I love her coral lipstick in the last outfit. It suits her really well.
The last outfit is too cute! Love the green color on her. She is a stunning woman.
also agree, though, that the trousers are too short
I like the hair, very fresh and summery. The clothes are a bit meh to me.
Her face is perfection. But those clothes do nothing for her body. Those heels in the last pics look terribly uncomfortable. My Starbucks run includes flip flops and sweats.
I like all of this, except the red strappy heels for a coffee run. I like the dress, but the shoes don’t work.
LOL the red strappy heels are the only thing I really like! I think they look phenomenal on her and make her legs are amazing!
She looks like she doesn’t feel well. Hungover? Pregnant? Allergies? I can’t really tell but I generally find her jaw-droppingly beautiful and she looks off in all of these pics. Also possible that she’s just looking normal-person pretty and not high-def pretty lol.
I don’t like them, but her face is stunning. Love this haircut on her.
I am always stunned by this woman and/or her stylist’s utter inability to dress her. She has a lovely figure, yet she consistently wears things that make her look boxy and heavier Than she really is.
As for all the complaints about her “coffee run” shoes, I think it’s fairly obvious she was headed somewhere else and happened to make a stop for coffee on the way.
The black suit for the win
I like the green in theory, but it doesn’t fit right.
It’s too tight, from the bust to the crotch area, and the pants are way too short. Either wear flats with it, or lengthen the pant.
I think I like the floral the best (though I’d prefer the tie at the waist, rather than under the bust), and with some great flats instead of an ankle strap heel. I like the white jumpsuit; LOVE the green color but hate the length of the pant. And the black… burn it! It makes her look dumpy. She’s a gorgeous woman, and no one can figure out how to flatter her figure! (Also, not loving magenta lipstick on her with her color hair.. .but that’s me). LOVE the haircut!! VERY flattering!
I love that green jumpsuit so much, but I agree on the hemline. Maybe some sandals would have looked better.
I hate the cut on that suit. It looks frumpy through the pants.
It all sucks, every outfit. She is is serious need of a new stylist.
The outfits are cute but they don’t fit her well.
The green outfit needs different shoes.
The black suit pants are too 90’s mom jeans shape.
She’s still gorgeous.
I love her but i miss the long hair.
Ugh, sorry I wrote a book, I really did not intend to say so much. I guess I felt “inspired” when I learned she is 5’4″
