Tracee Ellis Ross was an awesome host in her second year of hosting the AMAs. I really enjoyed her humorous choreography to a medley of hits at the opening of the show. She followed Taylor Swift’s performance and she did more moves than Taylor’s kind of boring contemporary dance, although that bar was low. Plus she had so many costume changes as usual, which she played up to great effect. Tracee loves fashion. You can see all her looks from last night on Twitter, she tweeted photos, videos and IDs. I would be good with Tracee hosting all the awards shows, she just needs better writers. Some of her lines last night were cheesy, but she definitely gave it her all.
Tracee’s red carpet look, a Pyer Moss pink suit with black detailing, was a little goofy. If anyone can pull off an oversized 80s mess like this with giant shoulder pads and 3/4 sleeves it’s Tracee. Plus she changed into so many other fun outfits last night. I wish her styling was different, but again it doesn’t really matter in the scheme of her experimental looks.
Tracee’s sister-in-law, Ashlee Simpson Ross, was in Monique Lhuillier. She was a presenter alongside her husband, Tracee’s brother Evan. This is a decent dress, it’s fun, she coordinates with her husband’s look without being too matchy, and it doesn’t pull focus. Evan’s pants need to be longer though.
Heidi Klum fell back on old fashion habits in this Julien Macdonald v-neck gown featuring lots of fringe, sequins and fishnet paneling. She’s worn this designer in the past and I thought she was moving forward in her fashion lately. Obviously not.
Presenter Constance Wu was so cute in this No21 sequin mini dress with full sleeves, pockets and graphic detailing along the skirt. This was incredible on camera and just a perfect look for the evening.
Lauren Daigle won for favorite artist, contemporary inspirational. She looked like the perfect mix of boho and sophisticated on stage, like she was dressing up but being true to her fashion sense. I’m not going to pretend that she was on my radar prior to this but I have heard her song “You Say.” This dress is Casea and her accessories really fit the look.

Just a couple of weeks ago (I think when Jessica Simpson announced she was pregnant) I went down the instagram rabbit hole and found out Ashlee is married to Diana Ross’s son. I also didn’t realize Tracee was her SIL till then. So interesting! Ashlee and Evan look very happy together (in their photos).
Good for Lauren Daigle. I really love her music and she looks very pretty here!
I know it’s a few months away but Lauren Daigle does an awesome version of ‘O Holy Night’ – that’s where I know her from 🙂 ❤️🎶
Why is Heidi Klum trying to be J. Lo (but can’t pull it off)? Everyone else looks lovely. Especially Constance Wu.
Constance Wu for the win!
I love Tracie’s bold style choices but that suit paired with the wet-look hair is a fail for her.
Heidi’s dress gives the illusion of sliding down – it all looks a few inches too low – not flattering.
Heidi’s hairline looks odd to me — never noticed that teeny fringe of baby hair before.
Ya – I was mesmerized by it (and not in a good way). I think it’s because the rest of her hair is so slicked back. I had to zoom in – I thought it was a lace front peeking through. Not my favourite look for her.
I thought it was a weave to be honest! I dunno what it is about her that I find annoying but she’s like Kate Hudson, she goes to the opening of an envelope.
I actually scrolled back up to look at it, so odd! JLo always does that too, the super tight pullback and then the slicked down baby hair at the hairline. I don’t think it looks good on anyone.
I liked Constance Wu the best, although if I could tweak one thing, it would be to de-puff her sleeves. But she looks gorgeous!!
I loved all of Tracee’s looks. Especially the fact that she changed her hair for each one. It makes me wonder if her initial “wet” look was a super conditioning prep for everything they were going to be doing. That’s a lot of manipulation for one head of hair in just a few hours.
