Game time! Ready? Okay, all you have to do is look at this photo that Kourtney Kardashian posted of herself and her son, three-year-old Reign, to Instagram over the weekend and tell me what’s wrong with it:

If you’re like me, you answered, “Nothing.” But we were wrong, because everything is wrong with it, according to the Parenting Police. The biggest complaint they had was the length of Reign’s hair. Kourtney’s mothering fail seems to all stem from allowing her son to *gasp* grow his hair long.

Kourtney Kardashian is being criticized for not cutting her son Reign’s hair.

Although many fans simply commented on the photo by asking whether the reality star could also pick up something for them, some social media users took the opportunity to mom-shame Kardashian over her son’s long locks.

“Cut his hair. So rediculous [sic],” wrote one troll. “And don’t state that he wants it that long. Dear god, he is a child, he does not know any better. You did the same with Mason. What is your point?”

Another simply wrote, “Cut that poor child’s hair.”

Other commenters expressed frustration over having trouble telling Reign apart from his 6-year-old sister Penelope, who also has long hair of a similar color.

In addition to complaining about Reign’s hair length, numerous social media users also shamed Kardashian for not giving her son a towel, as they thought he appeared to look cold in the image. “Dude your kid looks freezing, aren’t u gonna do something,” wrote one critic.

Others slammed Kardashian for saying she was shopping in the photo caption, arguing that she should have been paying more attention to her child.

Oh, for the love of Pete! They can’t even work out their own attack, “And don’t state that he wants it that long. Dear god, he is a child, he does not know any better.” There is no “better,” it’s a personal choice. Whether that choice is Reign or Kourtney’s it doesn’t matter because clearly, they are both in favor of it. Honestly, getting a kid a haircut is a pain in the behind for everyone involved. If the kid is past the “screams bloody murder as soon as the shears come out” phase, then they squiggle and complain the entire time. Even if they go to one of those kid-oriented hair salons, the child gets so fixated on the video game or cartoon, they keep ducking out of the stylist’s reach to watch the screen. Seriously, letting them grow it out will add years to your life. Heaven knows I am not a Kourtney apologist, but this is all nonsense. There’s a towel right behind him, if he was cold, he or Kourtney would grab it. As for the comments about her ignoring her child, obviously this is a photo op. Have you ever tried to type on a computer balanced on your knees? The only thing she’d be purchasing is a new laptop to replace the one that crashed to the pool deck.

I never understood the hate for boys or men having long hair. My hubby had long hair when we started dating, and he recently grew it out again. My mother in law said people gave her a lot of shit for it when he was in high school. She always told them, “as long as it’s clean, I don’t care”. Hair is hair, it’s not hurting anybody. Reign is a cutie for sure!

    • terra says:

Ha! Your mother in law sounds like my grandmother in this respect.

My dad had long hair in high school back in the seventies. His family lived in a small town in Texas and the school refused to let him attend if he didn’t cut his hair. So my grandmother went out and bought a wig for him to wear in lieu of cutting his hair because she was so furious. They never knew the difference and she’s still smug about it to this day.

I was thinking letting a wet, dripping child near the computer was what was wrong with the picture. It’s hair and who cares.

  3. Sam the Pink says:

    People will complain about anything.

My son’s hair is on the longish side because right now, he’s kind of afraid of clippers. We took for for a cut a while back and the poor girl (no blame on her, I think he was moving around) nipped his neck. Now he really doesn’t want to get trimmed (not cut, I mean, but shaved up the back). So now it’s kind of long. But for now, we don’t want the fight.

The only time I will judge long hair is when it is unkempt. I see too many kids with long hair where the hair is clearly not brushed, oily, greasy, just clearly not cared for. And before you ask, these are not low-income kids. They’re the kids of the so-called “natural mamas” who just seem to go for that sort of thing. Maybe they’re rubbing essential oils in the kid’s scalp, who knows. But at least give them an elastic for when they play.

    • MoxyLady says:

Ohhhh poor kiddo. Our oldest still doesn’t care for the clippers due to sensory issues. We bought a super quiet one and he wears headphones and we give him a buzz at home. We would let him grow it out but 1- he doesn’t like it long, he gets too hot 2- we live in an area with lots deer ticks and spend hours every day outside. It’s just not safe.

  4. Beth says:

Who cares? It’s just hair. Move on criticizers.

  5. Brandy Alexander says:

Ugh. My son is in the screams blood murder as soon as we walk into the shop stage. Growing his hair out is starting to look like a really good option to me.

  6. Grey says:

This is so silly… some kids DO love their hair long. Let them be kids and be themselves for as long as possible.

  7. Esmom says:

I agree it’s beyond ridiculous to shame her about his hair. It’s hair, ffs!

Photo op or no, I do side eye parents who are on their devices constantly when they’re with their kids. It drives me batty. I see parents on their phones while pushing their kids on the swings at the playground near me. Put the damn thing down and give your kid a few minutes of undivided attention!

    • Beth says:

It drives me crazy when I’m at a restaurant and see everyone sitting at a table staring at their phones instead of talking to each other. Parents, children, and friends never look up from, or put down their electronics anymore

  8. ds says:

gosh. didn’t celine dion also let her son have long hair? was she criticized for it? it’s karadashians, so i guess they’ll get attacked for everything. not that i’m defending them, in general it’s trash, but in this case, c’mon.

  9. Grant says:

Why are women the only ones who get to wear their hair long?? I have long-ish hair, I’m a dude, and I love it! **tosses wavy locks**

    • Kitty says:

Some men look so sexy with long hair. Love it!

    • Arpeggi says:

I guess it comes down to the old freudian BS of women wants to have long her because they see it as replacement for the d*** they don’t have (and moms want their girls w/ long hair cuz deep down, they want boys) whereas guys shouldn’t want long hair since they already have a d***. As I said, it’s total bs.

Keep your hair the way you like it; if a woman give you nasty looks, it’s probably cuz her hubby/bf is bald and she’s jelly

    • Fluffy Princess says:

You do you, Grant! I am already jelly of your wavy locks!

  10. Sayrah says:

Don’t read comments on Twitter. A bunch of a-holes hoping to get a reaction. So pathetic. People need to get a life and yes even judging someone for being on her computer or phone in the presence of their child(ren) need to get a life. You complain about kids becoming snowflakes but expect them to always have the undivided attention of their parents. Give me a break.

  11. Natalia says:

His hair is fine. Some of those criticizers have a big O over the likes of Fabio or Jason Momoa, etc. Foolish Hypocrites.

  12. Pandy says:

Yeah, not a fan of little boys with long hair but just my choice.

  13. Elisabeth says:

Of all the things the Kardashians are doing with their kids…this is not a big deal

  14. Meeeeee says:

In many cultures people dont cut their hair at all. I know in the Sikh religion its believed that the way were created (including the hair growing on us) is perfect as it is so they dont cut their hair at all. Both men and women.

I know shes obviously not Sikh. What I’m trying to say is that cutting hair in the west is kind of a social construct and sometimes I think we try to peer pressure others into conforming. And I totally agree with others on here saying if its clean, theres no need to worry 🙂

  15. Bunny says:

People comment repeatedly about us allowing our kids to dye their hair.

My response was always that they were kind, smart, talented, and creative. They were never in trouble. If the worst your kids ever do is dye their hair (or shave it, or grow it long), throw your hands up in praise, because you don’t have any problems.

Don’t let anyone tell you or your child how they ‘have’ to look.

  16. Mel M says:

So many celeb moms get shit for this and it’s insane. Really, it’s messed up that people get so worked up over a complete stranger’s child’s hair in today’s messed up world. How long ago did men actually stop growing their hair out? For hundreds of years men had long hair and at least longer then a buzz cut. For the person that says the kid doesn’t know any better, YES! He doesn’t! So it doesn’t matter if it’s long or short and it’s not better, who are you to decide that?

What kills me is that it’s usually women too who are the most up in arms about it and in this day when we are fighting for equality and everything else we still making this into a gender thing? My oldest son didn’t have a haircut until he was five and he had the most beautiful thick curly hair and he got so many compliments every time we went out in public. He never said a word about it until he did and then we cut it and he was so ambivalent about it afterwards anyway. He honestly just wanted to wear a helmet with his scooter without having to wear it down because you really can’t with it up. My youngest son also has curly hair but it’s thin so we started cutting it already and now that they both need haircuts on the reg I long for the years where I didn’t have to worry about it at all.

We sit here and criticize men like Prince William for not having enough hair and how unaatractive it is and then we turn around and criticize them for having too much. Have you seen pictures of Jason Momoa with short hair? Lol.

  17. hogtowngooner says:

I hate that “random strangers said something to Kourtney” is a story that gets covered (not a shot at CB, every celeb/gossip site does it).

Not only is it not news at all, but it gives the Ks a soapbox to grandstand about stupid nonsense. They are trash people, and have way too much glass house to be throwing so many stones at the rest of us.

  18. Fluffy Princess says:

My goodness the parenting police are RELENTLESS. Jeez peas, I have issues with the Kardashian ADULTS, but not with any of their children. Their children all seem very loved and cared for, and that’s all that matters.

Let little Reign live his little life! Damn!

  19. me says:

Why would this little boy having long hair bother anyone? Big deal. Who is he hurting?

  20. Nicegirl says:

We’re a bunch of long hairs at my house. My eldest son (now almost 21) has kept his hair short since senior year of high school, but prior had long hair-beautiful, thick, deep auburn beyond shoulder length for years. So of course now younger son is in first year of middle school and also prefers longer hair. His is chin length and strawberry golden gorgeous- they just like having longer hair, who cares. I only have them trim it to a manageable length if it gets hard to keep it up nicely. I let them express themselves but with each son there have been several remarks from the peanut gallery of how their hair should be shorter, etc.

  21. LT says:

My younger son is 15 and has long, shoulder length hair and he totally rocks it. He started growing it out when he was 9 and it’s his trademark now.

Yes, substitute teachers do often assume he’s a girl – until he opens his mouth and a really deep voice comes out. He’s IS very pretty – but he is an incredibly confident and masculine kid, so he just laughs and likes keeping people guessing.

  22. LeiDub says:

So many people have he so much CRAP for letting my son’s hair grow till he was two. I cannot believe the amount of people who actually thought I would care what they would think. I’m still sad I cut it when I did.

  23. Marianne says:

Who is the long hair hurting exactly? Besides, back in the olden days plenty of men had long hair. even not that far into our past, long hair was fashionable on Rockers. Like…why is this a big deal.
