I have a rom-com meet-cute pitch I would like to make Hollywood producers: a respected and beloved actress finds herself in an awards-bait movie and has to spend three months doing the full Oscar season. She keeps finding herself nominated alongside the same actors, directors and producers, because that’s legit what happens. One of those people nominated for everything? A charming young man. Their eyes meet at the Golden Globes. They party together at an industry screening. They fall in love during an Oscar panel discussion. By the Oscar luncheon, they’re a couple. They thank each other on stage as they collect their Oscars.
That would be a cute movie, right? Well, that very thing is happening with Glenn Close and Timothee Chalamet. They seemed to have met at the Globes, and by the Critics Choice Awards, they were already posing for photos together, with their arms wrapped around one another. They are also Instagram-official, like all the coolest couples (see below). Move the f–k over, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt. Stanning Glenothee is my new religion.
So what will happen long-term for my favorite Oscar-power couple? I don’t know. Glenn is 71 years young and she’s quickly becoming the… frontrunner (??) in the Best Actress race for her performance in The Wife. Timothee, 23, is all but guaranteed his second Oscar nomination in as many years for Beautiful Boy. Few think he’ll win, which might be their undoing. He will be proud of Glenn if and when she wins, but he’ll also be jealous, and it will tear them apart.

Didn’t she win once and dedicate it to all the girls who were mean to her in high school? That was Glenn Close right?
Unfortunately Glenn Close has never won an Oscar despite her many nominations. She’s totally due for one.
I can’t stand this boy. He is next JLaw – fake personality and so anoying.
I know I’m late but I just recently watched Call Me By Your Name and I was blown away by this young man’s talent. I can’t stop thinking about that movie and plan on watching it again. He is a HUGE talent in my opinion. I personally don’t find him annoying but that’s just me.
Not just you-me, too. I’ve already watched a second time and doubt that’ll be the last.
The last 10 minutes of CMBYN….
WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was late to the CMBYN party too but I have been obsessed with him since. He was amazing and I agree I fo not find him annoying at all, so humble, so amazed to be in the position he’s in. And I’m legit in love with him.
And I’m hella jealous of Glenn Close. Because I truly feel I should be the only older woman in his life 😉
Watch Beautiful Boy and tell me if you feel the same. He’s super talented.
I don’t care if he is talented or not. He is super anoying and fake for me. JLaw is the same and I was suprised that people was buying her “cool girl” image for so long.
I am down for a Close/Chalamet collab. She is the greatest and his is talented himself.
Glenn is looking especially gorgeous these days and Timothee is beautiful. She deserves the Oscar and I hope his career develops along the lines of Daniel Day Lewis’ career-fewer films, but higher quality.
No doubt in my mind that Glenn Close is the frontrunner for Best Actress. The Wife is a powerful performance and she expresses so much of it through her eyes. None of the other potential nominees come close.
Glenn needs an award. She needed one yesterday.
I love glennclose! ….
She did amazing!
Love them both! So cute
So in other words, Harold and Maude 2019? You know, I always thought all of Nancy Meyers’ oeuvre was far fetched (especially Something’s Gotta Give, with the Diane Keaton mid- 50s character ditching the adorable, gorgeous 36-year-old Keanu Reeves’ doctor for old, fat, waffling Jack Nicholson), but this scenario beats all her fantasies by about 50 miles.
