The Covington Catholic MAGA brats dominated so much conversation in the past week. It wasn’t just regular people or politicos talking about it – celebrities were weighing on Nick Sandmann and his motley crew of toxic, privileged brats and their MAGA-taunting of Native American activists. Pink was one of those celebrities. When the story broke last weekend, Pink posted a screencap of one of the videos onto her Instagram, and she wrote: “Appalling and beyond disrespectful. Nauseating. What’s going to be done about this? And why can’t this sh-t happen when I’m around? There’d be some headlines that day. That’s for sure. Where are the chaperones???? Teachers??? Parents????”
I had the same thought as Pink – it’s one thing for toxic little a–holes to act like that, but why weren’t the chaperones doing anything? Where were the parents? As we soon found out, the chaperones were gleefully taking part in the racist bullsh-t, and the parents decided to hire PR firms, lawyers and crisis managers to explain away their toxic brats’ behavior. Do you think any single one of those douchebag kids even got grounded? Probably not. In any case, the MAGA bros came for Pink because she dared to be disgusted by the Covington brats. And she made this statement on her Instagram:
Throw up Thursday. I am the same girl I’ve always been. I have always admitted when I am wrong. I have apologized many times. I’m a big believer in apologies, when you’re wrong. I was raised by a Vietnam Veteran who taught me to stand up for what I believe to be right. Even if that means standing alone.
I do not now, nor have I ever apologized for some of my very polarizing opinions. If you are surprised by this, or offended, you have every right to unfollow me, as you really don’t know who I am. I am mostly peace and love, with a little bit of go f*ck yourself. So when you keyboard warriors (anonymous toughguys) threaten me? that middle finger is pointed at you. Again: the unfollow button is (I think) top right of your screen. It lets you unfollow people you find make you uncomfortable. It’s great. It really works.
This country is broken right now in a lot of ways. It makes me very angry and sad. We all remind me of my parents right before their divorce when they could no longer even speak to each other with anything less than hatred and vitriol. It’s tragic. And we’re all to blame. There are many beautiful people in the world and in this country who want equality for all. Justice. For people to be paid for their work. For their leaders to communicate in productive ways. For children to have respect for others, for veterans to be honored and treated with respect. These are the ideals my father raised me with. And you all cannot talk me out of it. No matter what vile things you say about me and my husband and my children. Onwards and upwards. Keep fighting the good fight.
At first I was like “why is she talking about her dad being a Vietnam vet?” And then I remembered: Nathan Phillips, the Native American man who was harassed and smugged-upon by the MAGA bros, is a veteran too. Incidentally, while all the MAGA bros were harassing anyone who didn’t buy the Covington PR, those same MAGA bros were also smearing Nathan Phillips. Splinter had a good write-up on the smear campaign. Like Pink says… Onwards and upwards. Keep fighting the good fight. And never apologize for hating those privileged little MAGA f–kers either.

Why should she apologize? She’s absolutely right.
Exactly. What those good Catholic, or otherwise Christian teenagers have said and done, and shown no remorse for, should be exposed and denounced at every opportunity, by anyone who has the guts and/or platform to do so.
she shouldn’t. and she won’t.
there’s so much I love about Pink. I need to go see her perform live.
If you ever get the chance, go see her. Her concerts are amazing!
I’m going in April – won tickets – can’t wait! Love her and her strength.
I watched the entire video- 45m- RIGHT AWAY- before calling those kids appalling MAGA brats. I resent MANY media outlets said there was “context”- the “context” did not justify outright ugly racism & disrespect. Uh. So annoying. Good for Pink!
Wouldn’t expect any less from her. Onwards and upwards indeed.
She’s right. They are appalling and nauseating (the parents and the chaperones and their entitled arrogant spawn).
People have been acting like it’s a zero sum game: because the Hebrew Israelites said some racist and infuriating things to the MAGA brats, they get a pass. No, they don’t. They were wrong. Point. Blank. Period.
Exactly. I think it says a lot about the students, chaperones and the school that they had these kids at an abortion rally, wearing divise political clothes. What kind of friggin field trip is that
Yep. And that infamous smug face wasn’t staring down the face of a Hebrew Israelite so what is their argument?
I mean..that’s part of it but it’s bigger than that, too. Black Hebrew Israelites are a very small, fringe group. But this group of 30 obnoxious teenagers aren’t just an anomaly–there are many other Cov Caths out there.
And these young, white MAGA teens who are groomed from a very early age to be successful, will eventually become wealthy businessmen and entrepreneurs, hedge fund managers, CEOs, AND politicians. Many of them will grow up to be the men who have the greatest power in our country and as such, they are our future oppressors.
So yeah, I’m not worried about the Hebrew Israelites–I’m not worried about small minority. I’m worried about the ruling majority. Because we are seeing in real time what happens when young, white, wealthy, PRIVILEGED men grow up to be entitled, greedy, selfish, monsters. We have these MAGA kids all grown up, running our country into the ground without a care in the world for the people suffering from their actions.
Well said @ByTheSea and @Kitten and I love Pink.
The Hebrew Isrealites were saying terrible things to the Native Americans too. It’s right at the beginning of their hour and a half long video.
And yet, Mr. Phillips and his friends intervened to try to help them out when the little MAGAts starting acting up and surrounding the 8 Hebrew Isrealites. Because, as you said, it’s not a zero sum game, and one does not have to counter hate with more hate.
Good for her – totally correct and written in a sensible and constructive, non-kneejerk-reaction way. More, please.
Right? Love her suggestion to just click “unfollow” if she makes them uncomfortable. Bet we see this brat nominated to the Supreme Court in 40 years …
Word.
Would have been disappointed if she had apologized! No reason to apologize.
“I am mostly peace and love, with a little bit of go f*ck yourself.” Can relate to that!
Pink apologizing for taking a stance would implode the universe. She’s smart and doesn’t just say stuff. Her reactions are sincere, straight from her heart and her moral compass is very strong.
I love her, and I’ve loved her since….2001?! with Don’t Let Me Get Me.
Anyhow. P!nk for life! And I LOVE her outfit in the header photo.
“There are many beautiful people in the world and in this country who want equality for all. Justice. For people to be paid for their work. For their leaders to communicate in productive ways. For children to have respect for others, for veterans to be honored and treated with respect.”
Same. Pink rocks.
Um what happened to respect for veterans and the elderly?? Oh right, that goes out the window when they don’t look like you.
I imagine we will be hearing years from now about some of these brats getting in trouble for assault and mommy and daddy paying out money to make it all go away. It’s teaching these kids early that rules and laws
dont apply when you are a white male.
I think this debacle is quite pivotal because it sheds light on the mentality, that whoever is white or a male has to have the upper hand– no, they dont. Anyone of any other race can do good or bad things but it doesn’t give a white man a pass to be an a$$hole to them (or to anyone).
Not that it matters too much– its just a convenient excuse to be treating others that way but the lesson should be learned. Poor behavior is poor behavior, and just cos someone else is “x y or z” doesnt mean you can get away with it. (the other side of this coin, is victim blaming and character smears!!!)
Been arguing with some MAGAts about this recently. Trying to explain the “Two Wrongs Make a Right” fallacy being employed to support these kids. “two sides” they say. “you’re just focused on these kids cause they are conservatives” I was told. I was then told my opinion “wasn’t valid” because I hate Trump. And that kids should “stand their ground” against mean adults. I explained that I was raised to be decent and respect elders. That I had numerous teachers for example who bullied me daily ay school. One called me chicken for my high pitched voice and said I sqwacked. He continually had the class laughing and mocking at me. Another called me munchkin and lollipop kid cause I’m short, which had kids taunting me with Wizard of Oz songs. Another took my last name and created an offensive nickname put of it, that I had till HS graduation. These a-hole adults mistreated me daily, and I never once smirked, taunted, or “stood my ground” by getting in their way. Because I was taught better. Was raised to know two wrongs don’t make a right.
I feel know shame in expecting better from these kids. And I am glad Pink doesn’t either. There are no two sides to this story. Only other, separate stories. There is one side to these kids, and it’s ugly.
Team Pink and Team Repunzal. Great point. And I’m sorry you endured that.
I love Pink. She’s absolutely right and I’m happy to see her sticking to her guns. I can’t imagine the level of vitriol she got from the MAGA monsters. Sigh.
Team Pink.
I am pro-choice and the fact that some clueless brats had the audacity to march there is appalling to me. they are brats. but I am also appalled by adults, even famous adults, writing twits about wanting that kid to die, wanting others to beat him, etc. I can’t believe people would want to hurt him just because he’s a douche. that kid did nothing. he and the rest of them were just standing there, laughing. they didn’t attack the native american guy, didn’t threaten him. nothing. there is no reason whatsoever for that to be seen as violence or them being called names, attacked, seen as villains. also, that story shouldn’t be news. some teen douche being cocky is news now? there are kids like that all over the world.
There are none so blind as he who cannot see.
those “kids” were mocking Mr. Phillips’ chants and drum beat. they were dancing as “Indians” mocking him further. they were saying things like “it’s not rape if you enjoy it” and chanting MAGA and Build the Wall earlier to other people.
I don’t condone violence against them, but they ARE. NOT. INNOCENT. they didn’t “just stand there”. they weren’t just “being cocky” or “douchey”. wearing a MAGA hat, that represents violence and discrimination against marginalized people (including WOMEN), to an anti-choice rally, is in and of itself an act of aggression.
I see what you’re saying and I’m with you. those kids could become bad men. but I definitely don’t think it’s okay for people to be violent towards them.
I also don’t condone threatening violence and death to a high school student. Surprised that this is a controversial stance. This kid got death threats. It’s not acceptable.
The same people who are clutching their pearls over theses spoiled brats are the ones calling for the harassment and death threats of the school shooting victims who speak their mind (ie: David Hogg). So no, their words ring false to me with all the hypocrisy getting in the way.
The longer video changes nothing. I have two eyes. The gaslighting PR campaign was nauseating, too.
I think that was a good statement, and she’s made her position clear.
To be honest I haven’t even watched the videos of what happened, the overwhelming, immediate media coverage of it wore me out, and the fact that a bunch of high school boys were protesting women’s rights while wearing MAGA hats told me all I need to know about them.
Exactly. I don’t care much about what happened beyond that. The fact that they were at the march to begin with with MAGA hats speaks volumes.
I know that this is an outdated saying but, you go girl! Pink has voiced what so many angry and frustrated people in this country are feeling about this. That little brats behavior was beyond sickening and he deserves every push back possible
“I am mostly peace and love, with a little bit of go f*ck yourself.” Love this. So relatable. Her whole response was fire and she has nothing to apologize for. Even looking at that boy’s smug, entitled little face splashed across different sites after this story broke is highly irritating.
She needs to turn this into a hit song!
Absolutely. Love Pink and love her message. The one correction I would make is the “We are all to blame” statement. Nope. Black Women aren’t to blame for this shit-show. Not going to be included in that.
I really wish Pink was my friend and we could shop for Docs for our kids together.
Good, pink! Don’t apologize. They’re on the path of becoming full blown a$$holes.
