It’s been forever since we’ve had any gossip about Jeremy Renner, right? He’s been suspiciously quiet for months now. Looking through all of our photo agencies, it doesn’t even seem like Renner has been photographed at any events since last December. He’s in Avengers: Endgame though, which will be gearing up soon for the global promotional tour, and Renner is usually up for that. So, I do wonder what he’s been up to for months. Is it likely that he was just chilling out, being a hands-on father to his daughter and maybe flipping some houses? Possibly. It’s also possible that HE was the reason why Lady Gaga and Christian Carino broke off their engagement just weeks before the Oscars! Hear me out.
Is a new romance brewing for Lady Gaga? The “Bad Romance” singer, 32, has been “hanging out” with Jeremy Renner, a source exclusively reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.
The insider “doesn’t believe it’s romantic at this point,” but says Gaga has “been spending a lot of time” with the Avengers star, 48, and his daughter, Ava, 6, who he shares ex Sonni Pacheco.
The news comes one month after the Oscar winner, 32, called off her engagement to Christian Carino. Since then, the songstress has been having a blast on her own.
No, there’s not a lot there. No one is even speculating that it’s all hot and heavy and messy. But come on – this is Gaga and Jeremy Renner! What are they going to do, just hang out and play pool? No. Gaga and Jeremy are hot messes and their love would be combustible and dangerous. And yeah, I think this kind of lukewarm Us Weekly story is just the way it would be reported if Gaga basically dumped Carino for Jeremy Renner. Just sayin’.

Cherry, my thoughts exactly! Ever since I read he was a makeup artist for years prior to being an actor. Not a lot of straight male makeup artists, are there?
He’s actually not gay, though there have been rumors for years. He did makeup because he was used to doing his own stage makeup for theater, and figured it was an easy way to make some money and get him closer to hot girls, in his own words.
The first I ever saw of Jeremy Renner was in an episode of Angel. He was so good! He really stood out to the point that I remembered him right away when he later became somewhat famous for film. I liked him then, but then something happened over the years, and I feel a lot like Katherine Turner in War of the Roses.

I was watching Angel a few years ago (before Netflix decided to take down both Buffy and Angel. Bastards.) and saw that episode. He was a good actor even back then but there is a smarminess about him. I feel the same way about Bradley Cooper.

I’ve read about how successful his house flipping is. It’s INSANE. He could never make another film and still be filthy rich.
He’s been working on an album for a while now, recently posting a photo from “the booth” on Instagram (yes, I follow his page). He’s also been posting a lot of pics from his compound in Tahoe (soooo beautiful and I’m soooo jealous). Could be a possible collaboration. A romance seems so random but I guess anything is possible. They’d make an interesting pair, that’s for sure.
Who knows how true this is, but apparently Dave Grohl and his wife are close with Renner and Gaga? Dave and his wife have definitely been photographed and/or seen with Gaga in the past several times, and Dave and Renner were photographed at her Vegas shows
Perhaps it’s just some sort of friendship based on a mutual interest in music and they met through Dave. Or perhaps it is a romance, as weird as the two sound together.
I love Dave Grohl. I’ve seen him out and about, and he always has the biggest smile on his face and is super friendly. Very positive guy and he seems to be a musician’s musician. I can totally see him and Gaga getting along.

I thought it was the accepted wisdom that he’s gay?!? Which given Gaga’s gay icon status might mean they’re just hanging out. The number of people that thought I was dating one of my gay besties was hilarious…
The standards a person has to meet in order to qualify as any sexual orientation other than heterosexual are pretty high. The person has to:
1.) Have openly been married to or in a Truly Committed relationship a member of the same sex for an arbitrary amount of time to be decided by online commenters.
2.) They must conform to respectability politics at all times in the way they present themselves (even if in private, this isn’t always the case, the most important thing public presentation)
3.) They cannot seek or profit off of attention.
4.) They have to have a clean track record when it comes to wokeness- no shitty, ignorant, or problematic behavior toward any group of people or social issue. Only straights can be flawed human beings.
5.)They can’t be irritating or rub anyone the wrong way- again, see #4.
6.) They should be 30 or older, which decreases a likelihood of their interest in the same sex being ‘just a phase’. However, if they’re in their mid-twenties and have successfully appeared to be in compliance with rules #1 and #2, or have been with so many members of the same sex publicly that it’s undeniable, then rule #6 can be overlooked.
If a person doesn’t meet this criteria, then according to the online commentariat they are straight, even if they claim otherwise. Or at least these are the standards applied to one half of the population.
This is even funnier when you remember that a lot of people here love to declare that every other male actor is gay.

Seriously! There were rumors of him hooking up with a lot of different women in the Toronto area when he filmed MI: Ghost Protocol there, and his baby mama happened to be one of them- I think Lainey reported on that. Also, he outright admitted he had tons of pictures of naked women on his phone a few years ago, in a magazine interview. And he outright denied it as well. But people like to ignore those that and make up their own narratives I suppose…

He actually has a reputation in Hollywood for being a really nice guy, and all of his female costars adore him- Scarlett Johansson and Amy Adams both had him give speeches at their Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies. But you know, to each their own.
Well, Jeremy Renner and Bradley Cooper are kind of the same person in my brain (as in, I often mistake them for each other) so there’s that.

I don’t think they are friends. My impression during American Hustle press was that Renner and Amy Adams love each other, he and Bale respect each other professionally but probably don’t hang out, he and Jennifer are friendly (and are distant cousins), but with Cooper? I never got a feel for that beyond the expected hug at American Hustle events. I think links with music are more likely, he was at Gaga’s Vegas opening with music industry friends.

Avengers Endgame is soon in cinemas and Renner is one of the few heroes left after he was not in Infinity War. So I think dating rumors about him and Lady Gaga might, might just be some PR push to make him more interesting for the upcoming promo for Endgame. I like him as Hawkeye, so I am glad if he gets some attention thanks to his PR.
If they are in a relationship I think he will be hating this. If they aren’t I, don’t think he will care, although he has been known to make denials.

E! says they are just friends and have been friends for a while, but it sounds like it is a denial from her team (or E! could just be making ish up, too) and not a denial from his. They have mutual music friends, so that kind of makes sense, and I could see how these rumors got started because they were apparently seen hanging out together when she was performing last week.
Despite all the antics, Gaga is rarely papped and is barely in the tabs (except for the dumb BCoop rumors). And she kept her last relationship very low key. Renner seems extremely low key, too. So if they are in a relationship or just friends, I don’t see it as PR started by them. But perhaps they don’t care about the rumors if they are just friends, because there could be some benefits: get the tabs to finally drop the dumb BCoop rumors that haven’t completely died yet for some reason, and a little PR since Avengers is ending.

I for one, don’t hate this pairing, random as it may be, I like both of them a lot, and I think they would be cute together. For everyone hating on him, I get he’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think he’s charming and handsome and funny, respectful and mega-talented. Also all of his female costars ADORE him, and he has a great reputation in Hollywood for being a generally, all-around nice guy.

Speaking of old tea, it’s interesting that after the email leaked about David O. Russell’s screaming fest at Amy and Christian stepping in that people seemed to take sides. Amy, Bale, and Renner did minimal promo for that movie even though it was nominated for a million Oscars, while BCoop and JLaw seemed to back D.O.R.

Re the American Hustle old tea, I totally got that vibe as well. Amy has said she cried on set because he was such an a*hole to her, and she would never work with him again. And Amy is largely considered one of the nicest, most talented women in Hollywood, so that is really saying something. I get the feeling that Bale and Renner completely backed Amy 100%.

@blinkers there was mudslinging on both sides. His ex wanted citizenship (she was Canadian I believe), and allegedly there was proof she only married him for a green card. She claimed to have “intimate” videos of him she would release if he didn’t meet her demands. She claimed he had unlocked guns in his home, basically saying he was an unfit father. He also said disparaging things about her leaving Ava home unsupervised for hours while she partied, with easy access to the pool where she could have drowned. Neither of them looked great. Either way, now that some time has passed, he stated in an interview recently that she lives down the street from him and they can now co-parent amicably, regardless of the love lost between them.

Having read the original interview, not the cut and paste followups, it was more along the lines that ‘I wouldn’t be much help negotiating for my co-stars, I don’t even do it for myself – that isn’t my job, it is my agent’s job’. The most common distortion was the question he was asked, closely followed by the fact that he did state in the original interview that he fully supported equal pay for equal work.
