Will Jennifer Lawrence ‘quit Hollywood’ once she marries Cooke Maroney?

Jennifer Lopez wraps up the first day of filming 'Hustlers' and gets a visit from hubby A-rod and family

I’m not really surprised that Jennifer Lawrence’s recent engagement hasn’t been a big splashy affair with multiple tabloid covers and all of that. Jennifer really does know how to go dark and stay quiet, and she’s clearly still in stealth mode. She took the past year off to just get away from the constant celebrity cycle – she stayed in New York, quietly dating Cooke Maroney, and now they’re engaged. I think they’re for real, although I do think this sort of an Anne Hathaway-WhatsHisFace situation. And that’s fine too – every celebrity doesn’t have to be part of a celebrity couple with a portmanteau brand (although Jooke/Connifer sounds cool). Anyway, Us Weekly wants us to know that Jennifer “quits Hollywood” for Cooke. Chica’s not quitting sh-t.

It seems Jennifer Lawrence has found The One! The Hunger Games star, 28, and her fiancé, Cooke Maroney, “definitely appear to be in it for the long haul,” a source close to Lawrence says exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly.

The couple, who were introduced by the actress’ longtime friend Laura Simpson, started dating in the spring of 2018. Within months, they were vacationing together in Paris and Rome. And in February, the art gallery director, 34, proposed to Lawrence with a stunning diamond ring.

[From Us Weekly]

This is just the first excerpt from Us Weekly’s cover story, I’m assuming they have more details about this alleged “quitting” of Hollywood. It’s not going to happen though. Jennifer has to promote Dark Phoenix and she’s going to film Bad Blood – the Elizabeth Holmes movie – at some point this year. Once she gets back to work, I’m sure she’ll be scheduling a lot of projects back-to-back. And why wouldn’t she? She’s not giving up her career for a Cooke Maroney. She shouldn’t have to.

  1. Cindy says:

This tabloid sounds like a Jennifer Aniston pregnancy story.

  2. Loretta says:

This story was already denied by her rep.
I can’t wait for Bad Blood, I think there is a strong possibility that she will win her second Oscar with her role.

    • Kebbie says:

She’s already got a deepish voice, so she’ll be able to do Elizabeth’s weird voice well I think

  3. Lama Bean says:

    One can only hope.

Seriously, her marrying Cooke should not be related to her quitting Hollywood. That part is ridiculous. But her quitting Hollywood would be a good day for me. She grates my nerves.

    • Kittycat says:

From your lips to god’s ear.

    • Jegede says:

      😄😄
But to be fair, I feel JLaw recent movie choices suggests she may be suffering from the dreaded ‘Best Actress’ curse that afflicts some.👀👀

      • Carlo says:

        @Jegede
I doubt she’s suffering of a Best Actress Curse. She had other 2 Oscar noms (and a BAFTA win + NYFCC and NSFC awards) after her Oscar win.

      • Jegede says:

Well Joy that she gave her another nom, got mixed reviews and just OK box office returns, on an over $50 million budget.
If it was any other actress than Lawrence, I doubt she would’ve been showered with nominations for that flick. 😶😶

Not denying her talent, but only the biggest stan won’t see that her last 3/4 movies didn’t do great business for the ‘Last movie star’ and the upcoming X-Men is following that tangent.

    • Loretta says:

I find these comments in bad taste. The fact that you don’t like an actress is OK, but to hope that she quit her job I find it really weird

      • Lama Bean says:

Oh well. That’s your opinion. It’s not like I’m advocating for her to lose her job altogether or be homeless.

Please excuse me while I get back to my opinion.

  4. Valiantly Varnished says:

Why would she have to quit her career just because she’s marrying a regular guy ? No I think she will continue her career just like tons of other actresses and actors who are married to regular people do.

    • Jegede says:

I doubt she’s quitting, but I can believe she wants to regroup.

Red Sparrow was supposed to be a franchsie a la Jason Bourne, Ethan Hunt, Jack Ryan but after the box office returns those plans seem to have been shelved.
He recent movies have been middling or meh.

I believe she’s also changed representation last year?

    • lucy2 says:

I know, it’s really a stupid and dated question for US Weekly to even ask, but I guess they needed something to fill the pages this week.

Red Sparrow was…not good, so I’m not surprised it won’t continue as a franchise. And the first book was the best of the series, so it didn’t have much more room to grow.
She’s done a bunch of franchises though, I wouldn’t blame her for avoiding them for a while.

  5. NeoCleo says:

That gray dress, yeeesssshhh. Why can’t they dress this girl well? She’s got a great build and she’s beautiful–it should be a cake walk for any stylist.

    • Kebbie says:

Because she’s got a contract with Dior, the same people who put Charlize Theron in that powder blue monstrosity at the Oscars. They pay these women millions of dollars to wear their clothes and then they tailor them terribly.

      • CatWomen says:

I was looking at the dress as well WTF is she wearing Free People or Dior trying to be Free People. If it’s the former it’s just a casual look for say a beach’s look and it’s what she wants to wear to be low key comfortable. But if that’s a Dior dress what’s going on in Paris?

  6. Katashae says:

Guys help me out, how do you pronounce Cooke? Is it Cook? Or Coke? Or Kook? This is prob a dumb question I just am confused lol.

  7. Agatha says:

I saw her live 2 years ago and she’s stunning, she seemed made of porcelain.

  8. Veronica says:

Leave the industry altogether, I highly doubt, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she decides to leave acting at some point to move behind the camera or something similar. She’s one of the few celebs who legitimately disappears when she says she will, so she does seem to be honest about disliking the hyper-public aspect of celebrity.

  9. Jegede says:

I’m surprised people say she’s low key with this Cooke guy.

There seems to be an avalanche of exclusive pictures of them in New York featured in the Daily Mail every other day !!🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨

In fact. considering she’s not working she’s actually been seen out and about loads.

    • Kebbie says:

Isn’t it pretty difficult to stay hidden in New York if you’re a paparazzi target?

      • Jegede says:

        I thought it was reverse?

That star packed NY was where most could go successfully hidden??

Anyway if the Daily Fail is getting constant exclusives pics of any celeb; well it’s not a coincidence.😎

      • Suz says:

No. That’s why the celebs move to NY. In my years of living there I ever once saw a paparazzi harassing anyone. You can tell by the quality and aim of the photos when it’s planned.

  10. SuzAlex says:

Why does every single celebrity change their damn nose (maybe it’s just the pics, but sure looks like she’s altered her perfectly fine old nose)? Between the botox, fillers and other plastics, they are creating one master (scary) face with just minor variants.

  11. Suz says:

I can’t wait to see her as Elizabeth Holmes. Just watched the HBO doc and I think Jennifer is perfect for the role. She’ll be able to do the fake deep voice well. As for her going dark during her engagement, she and this dude have done dozens of pap walks and have posed in numerous restaurant windows for what I’m sure were very private dates. *eyeroll* She’s still very much a part of the Hollywood machine.

  12. P says:

Please, she can be Mrs Cookie Monster and still work. But I have my doubts a wedding will happen at all.

  13. Margareth says:

Is US Weekly writing from 1900?

  14. Otaku fairy... says:

Never mind. Feckless one vaporized. 🙂
