Maybe I have the totally wrong read on Scarlett Johansson, but I don’t really think she views marriage as a lifelong commitment or even a promise of fidelity and monogamy. She’s indicated as much in previous interviews, and I think that’s just how she is – she married Ryan Reynolds because he asked. She married Romain Dauriac because she fancied having a French husband. These were phases. And I kind of wonder why she would even feel the need to bother with marriage at this point since she’s clearly apathetic towards the institution. Just shack up with your lover and be done with it. But no, ScarJo is probably going to give it another try. People Magazine claims that Scarlett will probably marry Colin Jost.
Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson made their public debut as a couple in Novemeber 2017, and have since met each other’s families and recently spent time with the actress’s 4-year-old daughter Rose (from her marriage to Romain Dauriac) at Disneyland in California last week.
“Scarlett and Colin are in love and share many of the same interests and the same sense of humor,” a source tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “Scarlett is very happy.” Though the Saturday Night Live star, 36, hasn’t popped the question yet, “There is marriage talk with Colin,” the insider says.
Johansson, 34, finalized her divorce from her second husband, 37-year-old journalist Dauriac, in September 2017 after filing in March of that year. She’d also been married to actor Ryan Reynolds for just over two years from September 2008 to December 2010.
But the source believes Johansson is in a different place with Jost — who has never been married — than she has been in previous relationships.
“She is a mother and in a mature place where marriage makes more sense than it did in earlier relationships that didn’t last,” the insider says. “She is in love and likes to be married, but is aware of how hard it is these days.”
Again, though, why bother? Is the argument that Scarlett is more mature now that she’s a mother and she would really embrace the stability of a marriage this time, unlike the ways she found marriage confining with Romain and Ryan? I mean, I guess you can make that argument. But I mostly think this whole Colin Jost thing is just another phase for her. So… a ScarJost summer wedding? Probably.

Two very short marriages/divorces before the age of 35…she needs to hit the brakes.
I find him very unappealing and smug. I used to like her, but that has changed in recent years.
I mean, if I were Colin Jost I’d want to lock it down too. It’s in his best interest for her to marry him, she’s waaaay out of his league! So maybe this gossip is more from his camp like “hey ScarJo…you should totally marry Colin…”

For some reason she looks older than him although she’s 3 years younger. If they get married he’ll want a baby, she’ll probably have one, and then I see them drifting apart. I agree she’s just not good at marriage.
I do think they are really well suited, but I don’t see why marriage is a must. Just live together and be happy!

I think you are right and since marriage for her is just a declaration of the seriousness of relationship she probably does feel like she is in love and hence needs to marry the guy. And divorce when the passion is gone. There are people like that.

Ummm if being a mother is what makes her want to take marriage more seriously why didn’t she do so in the previous marriage where she BECAME a mother? Surely you’d be motivated to try harder with the actual parent of the child? What a load of nonsense.
