There was a time that we hung on to every trend created by Madonna. Now, not so much.
PS-I would be embarrassed to go out to the mailbox in Marion’s getup.

    • BchyYogi says:

OYe. Madge reminds me of my crazy tenant; broke AF, spent her social security check on madam puppet facial implants. The MadonnaFacation of Gen X is heartbreaking…

    • Bella Bella says:

Madonna can’t move her face when she sings. She’s dressed like an old dominatrix in a WW2 film. I wish this woman would stop.

  2. Nicegirl says:

    Barftastic, Madge. Geez.

  3. Mumzy says:

Madonna and her eyepatch— a way to cover a bad eye job, or fillers/ Botox gone wrong?

    • Deanne says:

      Cataract surgery?

    • Nancypants says:

I think it might be that too.
Those commercials for Botox are frightening but all medical ads are these days.
You know, Botox was made to help people who had Parkinson’s, lazy eye, crossed-eyes.
The smoothing of wrinkles was a side affect but there are risks.

    • original_kellybean says:

That’s exactly what i was thinking. She probably has droopy eye from some eye surgery or botox gone wrong.

  4. Nancypants says:

    I don’t see the appeal.

A few years ago, I had an eye issue and had to wear a pirate patch for a few months.
I looked pretty bad-ass but it wasn’t fun.
Maybe that’s what she’s going for.

One eye is no fun. I’m glad it wasn’t permanent.
Everyone said I looked like Elle in Kill Bill and look how that turned out.

  6. ds says:

I love Madonna, she made such an impact. But she’s morphing into marilyn manson in the cha cha part….

  7. JanetFerber says:

Here for a positive comment for Madonna: facially, she looks fabulous. Pirate chic is just another thing and she pulls it off, I think. I don’t know why so many people are tired of her. People are not tired in the same way about Mick Jagger, though he’s led as extravagant a lifestyle as Madonna. They call him an icon and shrug their shoulders at his lifelong tics such as cheating, young girls, multiple children with different women, his cheapness, etc. Cut her some slack, huh?

    • LouAnne says:

YES. Co-sign. I absolutely love this video.

      • MOT says:

Agreed! I like the song and video. Metallica gets a movie and she gets sh** on

      • otaku fairy... says:

I’m cool with the fact that she didn’t suddenly become all about respectability politics just because she hit a certain age based on others’ expectations/demands when that’s not how she started out… or worse, go the Roseanne Barr/Talibangelical route on younger women (shudders). There’s something badass in that, even though she can be obnoxious.

    • Clementine says:

I was tired of Mick Jagger before Madonna even hit it big in the 80’s :). I personally think that Madonna has lasted on her image rather than the quality of her material. She had some amazing work in the 80’s and 90’s. Then, at least to me, she became an image who was producing music that no one was actually listening to. And yes, she does (and always has) look amazing.

  8. Tiffany :) says:

    It seems so gimmicky. Yawn.

  9. Janey says:

Every keeps saying she’s so try hard and she’s past her prime, her age… Well, I think it’s kind of nice that she’s out there still working.

    • Clementine says:

Janey, I am thrilled that she is still working and support anyone and everyone who wants to continue in their field, no matter what their age! I just find her persona tiresome. I’m intrigued by her new material and looking forward to listening.

  10. LolaB says:

    Poor Maluma.

  11. Incredulous says:

I’m just back from Avengers, it is indeed three hours long. Some of fight camera work is dreadful and it is heavy on the fanservice (one bit completely deserved, mind) and the funniest bit is oddly off to the side of the frame, towards the end involving Pom Klementieff. Be prepared to mark out a lot.

    • Jag says:

None of those links have anything to do with Avengers, so posting possible spoilers is really in poor taste.

  12. Beegirl says:

if she put her grill back in from a few years ago she could be Slick Rick!

  13. CES says:

I hate to sound ageist, but she really needs to chill. She’s too old to think she can still hang with people who are young enough to be her grandchildren. My grandparents are now passed away, but if they were here and tried to act or dress like her I’d be embarrassed.

  14. Michael says:

Well, she looks kind of ridiculous, but the song is better than a lot of the stuff I hear from today’s stars

  15. JanetFerber says:

CES, I disagree. I’m sure Madonna has relationships with a lot of people, younger and older. Saying what’s “appropriate” for an older person is wrong, in my opinion, and there’s also a double standard– no one bats an eye at Mick with a twenty-something year old woman (he fairly recently had a baby with a twenty-something). Just let Madonna be Madonna. Madonna has and always will be a wild-ass woman and so what? Some people would say that’s a cause for celebration.

  16. JanetFerber says:

Tiffany, yes, they do, but it doesn’t stick. As a white male, he has more Teflon, if you see what I mean. People have also called out Liam Neeson (for his bigotry), but Winona Ryder was vilified and mocked for YEARS for shoplifting. All it takes is one mea culpa from a male and all is forgotten and his career stays on track. I believe Winona also dropped out of the acting scene during that time. It takes a LOT more criticism of a man for it to make a dent. In this time of “Me Too,” it takes a PACK of women to maybe bring down a male sexual predator. And that’s a maybe (Donald Trump still seems to be rolling). And there are two asshole men on the Supreme Court who were appointed despite each being accused by one woman of sexual crimes (maybe if each had 50 accusers that would have made a dent). And what has Madonna done but be a 62 (?) year old woman who still wants to be and act like a rock star? Maybe I’m taking this too personally, but the cracks about Madonna’s Botox, dress, and behavior really tick me off.

    • Bella Bella says:

If an older male performer with a frozen face was barely able to open his mouth to sing and dressed like a fetishist, I believe we would be giving him equal grief. Say what you will about Mick Jagger, but he owns his face, wrinkles and all. He probably dyes his hair, but his face shows every year of hard living. I have zero interest in him quite frankly. I also don’t think his shtick as a performer at this point is about passing himself off as a sexually desirable man to 20 year-olds. His audience is filled with people his own age. I would have no problem with Madonna if she toned her sh*t down and still performed. I saw a picture of Cher recently and I have the same trouble with her. Wear some clothes. And her face is tragic. I think the real tragedy is that these women feel they have to f*ck with their faces in order to remain relevant. Judy Collins or Carole King are examples of music icons who have aged beautifully and still perform. Joni Mitchell looks like a real person. I’d be ecstatic to see any of these women.

With Madonna, I think the judgment I feel comes from the cringe-inducing experience of watching what looks like shame packaged as desirability.

      • otaku fairy... says:

Why should Madonna or Cher cover up if that’s not what they’re about though? Classy 60/70-something woman is super common and is what’s expected. To me the fact that Mick Jagger doesn’t aim his work at 20-somethings or use it to make himself desirable to 20-somethings is cancelled out by the women he dates. He does care what younger people think of him to some extent. But I don’t have any problems with an older artist trying to court younger audiences either. As for Madonna, I think it has less to do with shame packaged as desirability and more with the fact that we’re seeing a woman who’s insecure about one thing but confident about another at the same time. Seeing that isn’t comfortable, because people literally want everything when it comes to these women- they’re supposed to be meek and modest and have no noticeable insecurities all at the same time- bit it’s honest, because few people are confident about every single thing.

Anybody else see Moira Rose from Schitts Creek when they watch Madonna’s new song?!

    • Slowsnow says:

      YES!!!
I was a child in the heyday of Madonna and loved her obviously but now looking back her famous “reinventions” were so uninspired. Hispaniclite for Club Med “bourgeoises”…
Nothing like Salt&Peppa Let’s Talk About Sex.

  18. Yes Doubtful says:

I don’t care for the song, but I like the theme she’s going with. Rebel Heart was actually quite good and I hate how ageist people are toward her and it’s sad to see it in some of these comments. If she wants to continue to work and make music, then she has every right to pursue her passion.

  19. Bee says:

The song is OK, completely forgettable, but OK. The best thing about that video was the beautiful white horse.

  20. Jilliebean says:

Uhhhhh what?…. that title says Madonna is pantsless…. and when I scrolled down to the pic… well that thumb holding the phone in front of her looked like a penis!!!

  21. Erika says:

I actually think Bieber’s post on Twitter were very mature and well spoken from him. It looks like that time away from the spot light may have helped him better communicate and understand his triggers. I am. Ot a fan of his music, or him even, but I think the article about it is pretty snarky and unnecessarily bitchy.

  22. SM says:

Jezzz. Making it great again just like Trump is making America great. NOT

  23. Anastasia says:

Ok so FIRST, why would you want to go around with no depth perception? Cover one eye and you have no depth perception. Weird.

Two-lee, that video is AWFUL. The dancers are dancing about 50 times better than her. And isn’t the hot beefcake guy who is super into her a trope she’s used over and over since her first days? She’s also done the dominatrix thing before (a few times, if I’m remembering correctly (I’m 48, so I was a teen when she first hit it big).

For me, it’s not an age thing at all, I just think the video and song are terrible and she’s looking very unimaginative. It’s all so cliche by now.
