As we discussed this week, Brad Pitt skipped his daughter Shiloh’s 13th birthday. He was in Cannes last week, and he’s in Venice this week with his artist friends. Angelina has been living full-time in LA for a couple of years now – minus a stay in London to work on Maleficent – and she and the kids really have put down some roots there. Anyway, I tend to think Shiloh has always taken after Angelina in her sort of fearlessness and eagerness for adventure. Shiloh seems like an extremely well-adjusted kid given the level of fame of her parents and the traveling-circus bubble of the Jolie-Pitt family’s life. Shiloh has always been a tomboy, eager to skateboard and play soccer and do whatever her brothers are doing. And so Angelina organized a special treat for Shiloh’s birthday: an hours-long adventure at The Basement LA.
Angelina Jolie knows how to host a party! The actress threw an epic bash in Los Angeles on Monday, to celebrate daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt’s 13th birthday.
The party went down at The Basement LA, where guests got to explore four different escape rooms, watch magicians perform and grub out on custom birthday cakes. Shiloh’s dad, Brad Pitt, was not in attendance, but all five of her siblings — Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — were there, along with a group of friends, to help celebrate the birthday girl.
An eyewitness told ET that everyone was in good spirits, and “spent hours” finding their way out of all the escape rooms.
I looked at The Basement’s site – it’s an immersive experience with live actors in which you have to figure out ways to “escape” various physical and intellectual traps. I was trying to think back to what my ideal birthday party would have been like at 13 – probably something involving a good cake and Pearl Jam? But obviously, Shiloh is different. Those escape rooms would probably give me, a grown-ass adult, nightmares for months. But I bet Shiloh LOVED it.

Shiloh is SO Tall!! And she’s a teenager now. WOW. Happy Birthday, Shiloh! The party venue sounds awesome. Angie wins coolest mom ever award, hands down.
I still remember going out to buy People with them on the cover.
I just…I ‘m old.
We are “seasoned.” 😇
@ Rina. “Seasoned”
I like that.
I still have that copy of People!
There was a quote Angie gave back when she was doing Tomb Raider. She said she really liked to do action movies so her kids would think she was cool. I found that quite endearing.
Escape rooms are the “thing” right now. All of my kids love them. My 17-year-old son and his girlfriend think it’s a perfect date night!
Yeah, my teenage kids have both been to escape room birthday parties in the past few months.
Yep, my 11 year old is dying to do one.
I went to one last year for a bachelorette party. It was a blast! You have to work as a team and think creatively. From middle school on up, it’s a wonderful way to exercise your brain.
We did an escape room as a corporate retreat day at work and boy that was a mistake. I’ve done them with friends and they’re really fun, but try doing it with coworkers you can barely tolerate and it is meltdown city.
LOL I can imagine!
I did one with friends last year and it was fun. A different friend did one that was half her group, half a group of strangers, and she said it was so awkward.
Algernon, that would have made a great episode of the Office.
We’ve done the last three years of bday parties (12, 13 and 14) at escape rooms, gone with friends, family and by ourselves;vets. They’re brilliant! We do avoid the horror based ones, but we just love them as an activity.
My husband and I love to do them, often with other couples! It’s a fun way to change it up. If we’re ever traveling and have a few hours to kill we’ll try to find one.
Angelina’s sensible heels in the last photo with Shiloh and the twins need to be taken and burned.
Anyway, Shiloh’s party sounded like a perfect party for a thirteen year.: a few friends and family and junk food. I think I want to try an escape room but am afraid to do so since I hated being in one haunted house like a decade ago.
Brad is a deadbeat loser.
Every one of those kids in that picture need sunglasses. They are all squinting badly.
Was it truly expected that Brad be in town for her birthday?
I raised my 3 children alone after my divorce and at no time would their father have attended any our parties.
He’d have his own time, i.e., visitation schedule, to plan his own celebrations with the kids.
her kids have this 70s vibe that i really like
That sounds like so much fun! What a great birthday party!
Now i remember how shioh brith was a big deal probs unlike another. They were the top of everything…how time gone by fast and how things change ….. They couldve continue to capitalize for her on the attention but but…they werent like that i guess…happy 13th…
Speculating on how someone else’s children seem or what they like is bizarre to me. Celebs are part of the gossip world, but I’d really love to see the kids left out of something like this.
Ditto
The kids are lucky to have such a devoted mother who is always there for their milestones and big events in their lives. Meanwhile deadbeat looked drunk in Venice passed out on a water taxi and trying to go for a hipster look with his new hipster daddy Thomas housego. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As someone above mentioned her birth was a big deal in celeb gossip and his fans always claimed that Shiloh hated Angelina and loved daddy dearest more. Now they are pretending like they don’t care if he skipped her big day, Lololol everything his fans have claimed the opposite turns out to be true.
Sounds like a mom that knows what her kids like. Good on her, throughout all of this it’s shown what a devoted mother she truly is.
PR
Yup, the best PR money can buy. I am all for it. Not only it showcases Jolie as the bestest mom on earth but also let the world know deadbeat daddy dearest is such a loser. You know what, if Jolie was such a petty person she would have let it be known that deadbeat abandoned his first bio kid on her birthday in order to spend time in Europe looking at art pieces with his bestie friends. No, all you read was one sentence that Pitt was not present at the party. The reason we know why he’s not there was he’s papped going to Venice. That’s it. In reality, he’s a non-factor in this party. They probably didn’t want him around to sour their mood knowing he’s such sore loser in this divorce. He’d missed so many important events in their life so what’s one more going to do. Another family event where daddy’d rather spent somewhere else watching car racing or looking at crappy arts.
Someone said in another post about him being more into Jolie than the kids. I totally agree. He’d adopted different personalities to be with Jolie when they first met-whether it’s a father of the year with 6 mixed kids or good old humanitarian traveling around world helping out refugees in war-torn countries or supported great projects such as the epic fail MIR. Once Jolie cut him loose and ghosted him, the kids are the main casualties from his narcissism. If any of those kids didn’t take his side over hers, then he probably won’t give them the time of the day . In his petty and diabolical mind, it’s him or her. Nothing in between. He even admitted in interviews right after the split that he hold old grudges for long time so is it any wonder that he would hold it against his own children if he deemed them as betrayers if they side with her. Dude is a pathetic loseeeeeeer.
Best wishes to the birthday girl
Poor Vivian looks so distressed
