I’m rooting for Mischa Barton. Some of you say that she’s stuck up or can’t act or whatever, but she’s always struck me as smart, self aware, and much more together than other celebrities her age. 23 year-old Mischa wasn’t as in control as I thought, and she had a massive very public fall from grace with an admission to the hospital for a psychiatric hold almost two weeks ago. Maybe people will say they saw it coming, but it was a shock to me and I assumed that Mischa just liked to party but wasn’t into anything dangerous or excessive. In Touch reported this week that Mischa was so out of it that she’s the one who called the cops, saying “I see tree people.” They reported that “she was hallucinating and thought she saw people hidden in the foliage outside her house in a gated community.”
Anyway Mischa is out of the hospital now and has hopefully put all that behind her. Judging from her appearance at the airport in LA yesterday, she’s doing fine. Gone is the caked-on eyeliner (liquid eyeliner is only for the lids, don’t rim the bottom of your eye with it!) and spaced-out look. Maybe this will last for Mischa and she’s learned that she can’t touch the hard stuff.
Mischa Barton is out of the hospital and plans a return to work almost two weeks after Los Angeles police say they escorted her for an undisclosed medical problem.
Spokesman Craig Schneider said Monday that the 23-year-old actress is “out of the hospital and continuing to improve in anticipation of resuming production as planned.”
He would not elaborate on Barton’s condition, but said Barton planned to report to work on the new CW series “The Beautiful Life.”A CW spokesman for the show, which stars Barton as a pill-popping supermodel, said last week that production was scheduled to begin Friday.
[From NY Daily News]
Star reported this week that the very bad reviews of Mischa’s latest movie, Homecoming, contributed to her breakdown and that “she is upset over her sagging career, and she doesn’t think anybody really cares about her.” Hopefully Mischa realized that people do care and is now ready to move on with her career and her life. She has a lot of opportunities and advantages that the rest of us can only dream about, and maybe she’s starting to realize that. At least she has a job to go to now that she’s out.

nope, no one cares
There appears to be life behind those eyes again… I love her dog.
…”she’s always struck me as smart, self aware, and much more together than other celebrities her age.”
Seriously, Kaiser, are you on something? This chick certainly loves her powder, she probably throws up her meals (?) and she hasn’t worked in anything (good?) for a long, long time. In fact, I was a bit sick to see her in the tabloids for absolutely nothing, because she has nothing to promote other than herself. By “celebrities of her age”, you mean Lindsay Lohan? Or Paris Hilton? These are the only people I can think of.
who wrote the post was Celebitchy….
Yeah I was comparing her to Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. I know that’s not really the best comparison group and anyone would basically look good when matched against those two. I don’t know why I like her so much, I just do. I think it was when she was dating the huge ball wonder and he defended her against Paris Hilton’s nasty comments. Maybe I just got the totally wrong impression of her. I’m also a huge OC fan, that probably did it. I loved that show. Where is Ben McKenzie? That kid needs to get some good roles.
She’s only 23?
Man.. I would have guessed mid 30’s.
At least in this pic she looks more like her actual age.
Sorry, Celebitchy, but I missed the “written by Celebitchy”…lol
@ Celebitchy: Ben McKenzie is currently a part of the cop drama Southland. I’ve yet to watch it, but I’ve heard pretty good things about it.
Looking great maybe except for the thrift store reject clothes, still.
I think that someone in that kind of trouble would need more than a short stay in hospital to get “better.”
She is SO young. I hope she continues to get help for whatever her issue is. Whether it’s drugs or depression or…whatever.
She looks like she’s on the happiest pills ever.
I don’t really care for her, but I do hope she can pull it together.
@Marianne – I don’t blame ‘ya, Kaiser is way more productive than I am and writes more posts lol!
Ben Mackenzie was on that new show on NBC that took over for ER. I can’t remember the name because I wasn’t interested, but he played a cop!
I hope she gets better and can stay away from whatever drugs she was using. I’ve never really understood the hate, I have to say.
@omondieu and @Obvious: the show McKenzie is on is Southland and I have watched it from the start and I absolutely LOVE it. Great acting all around. 🙂
haha, people are assuming every bold statement is automatically written by Kaiser. Poor Kaiser!
Initiating countdown to next collapse…
I have to check out Southland as I love McKenzie and was waiting to see what he would do next. They were calling him the next Russell Crowe but his career didn’t really take off.
Wow! She looks better than she has in quite some time. Mischa looked so bloated before and that awful black eyeliner and bangs didn’t do her justice. Aside from the superficialities, she does seems to have some light back in her eyes. I hope she continues to get better!
I like the bangs and heavy eyeliner. But I don’t really think Mischa has stellar talent. She’s pretty ho-hum overall.
Celebitchy, about Mckenzie’s career “not taking off.” Maybe you should wait a little bit longer. The guy has been extremely choosy in his roles. In an interview, he said he turned down all the teen roles offered him and opted to do indie parts instead, and now Southland. He seems to prefer being a working actor and isn’t very comfortable with the celebrity aspect of the job. And he’s been in the business even shorter than Mischa. The OC was his first real acting job.
And kudos to him, he’s managed to steer clear of the tabloids. Something which Barton seems unable to do. I think Mischa bought into the hype, or at least the hype that was created by the people around her.
