I have to admit, I don’t get the Anne Hathaway thing. Some people just adore her, and think she’s like the next Meryl Streep or something. My mom is like that – with Anne and with her new favorite, Amy Adams. Personally, I think Anne, at 26 years old, is a talented, hard-working actress with quite a bit of luck, a great management team, and enough Hollywood big-wigs on her side. I can sit through many of her films and enjoy them – but I absolutely hate her in interviews. Once she’s not playing a character and you see some of her real personality, it’s not good. She comes across (to me) as very fake and pretentious, like she’s trying to be a goody-goody, when she’s anything but.
Anyway, it turns out that Anne Hathaway has been named the “Best Actress Under 30” by lovefilm.com. Anne was the only actress under 30 years old to receive an Oscar nomination in the past year, so that enabled her to knock Keira Knightley off the top spot. Here’s the top twenty:

I agree with the high rankings of women like Emily Blunt (love her) and Kristen Stewart, but am I alone in wondering who some of these women are? Like, Alice Braga? Whatever. Saoirse Ronan was the little girl in Atonement, and she’s adorable. She’s going to be seen next in The Lovely Bones, as the murdered girl/narrator. How in the world does Megan Fox get a better ranking than Saoirse? Oh, well. I guess I just be happy that Megan didn’t make the top ten.
Here’s Anne Hathaway at the opening night curtain call for ‘Twelfth Night’ at Shakespeare in the Park held at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park in New York City on June 25th. Images thanks to WENN.com .
C’mon, Kaiser. You’ve gotta know the rule: If Megan Fox shows up on any “Best Actor” list, then the list is automatically null and void.
Anne Hathaway…bleh!
anne hathaway is dull, dull, dull.
Susette – I was thinking the same thing!
But seriously, Keira Knightley was previously #1? How? She only has one facial expression.
I’m Team Portman, the girl is awesome.
She’s under 30? Wow. I would have thought she was at least 35. I don’t like her either. She is overrated to say the least and not very attractive. Those sharp angular feature are not pretty-sharp teeth, sharp nose, sharp chin
I also don’t get the Anne Hathaway hype, but good for her. I can tolerate most of her movies.
But wait… is that Megan Fox at No. 13? Megan Fox can Act? Even she has admitted she doesn’t know what she is doing. And Sienna Miller – i thought her claim to fame was banging someone else’s husband. I just don’t get it.
Dakota Fanning is a way better actress that half the people on that list. She should be in the top ten at least. She has more experience and has acted with some of the best in the business and did a great job at it.
Ah well, the world isn’t fair.
Oh God I agree – how can someone with an Oscar nomination (Saoirse Ronan) come lower than Megan feckin’ Fox? All she does is get in the way of the camera and half-close her eyes. On a good day. At least the lovely Zooey beat her. Just.
And Dakota Fanning at 19? utter stupidity.
(I didn’t know Saoirse Ronan was going to be in The Lovely Bones. Perfect casting. Who is going to play the sister? She’s a really interesting character)
why are we picking apart her looks? this is an acting list. viscious comments people! Yes I agree, if Megan Fox and Kristen Stewart are on this list, you can just stop reading after Megan’s name – this list is not to be taken seriously.
Anne Hathaway is a wonderful actress, and I don’t find her ‘pretentious’ or goody goody’ in interviews at all.
Mairead – Rose McIver. And Susan Sarandon as Grandma Lynn.

This list is utter crap. Megan Fox? Puh-leez. Keira Knightley? Almost as bad as Megan Fox. Yet they are both listed ahead of an actress that actually HAS some talent-Dakota Fanning?
yes. the list is highly questionable. not that i don’t find anne a good actress. she is. i just don’t think she is number one. and as has been pointed out, what makes this list oh so very invalid is the fact that megan fox made it. the girl wouldn’t even be anywhere near the top 100 of good actresses under 30. i can concede she’s hot, but that’s the extent of it. who the heck compiled this s–t list???
List or no list, I’m familiar with the top 8, and I like them = )
Anne has turned into a truly amazing actress. Her performance in, Rachel Getting Married, was stellar.
where is Megan fox? lol
i dislike this sort of top ,that want nothing to say
I think Ann H. is a very good actress, however I watched Rachel Getting Married just the other night and I had a very hard time watching all of it. Very hard to sit through. Ash I agree with your assessment completely. Jackie I would like to see your idea of beauty. She has full lips, beautiful teeth, porcelain skin, and huge eyes. A very unique and rare combination. Dare I say, not unlike the unique combination found in A. Jolie. (minus the plastic surgery).
I like watching Anne Hathaway in movies. I think she should avoid too much personal disclosure tho – she doesn’t come across great in interviews. Let’s face it she’s a Hollywood actress, which means she’s most likely insecure and self-obsessed.
I can’t stand Anne Hathaway. She’s too pretentious for my taste. There’s such a cheap novel sentiment in everything she says in interviews. She thinks that speaking of the “craft” will make people take her seriously. C’mon, darling, you ain’t no Meryl. You need a little bit more than Rachel Getting Married to be considered a good actress.
Her dellusions of grandeur get even worse in the presence of other actors. Check her out in the Newsweek Oscar Roundtable. She can’t shut her mouth for a second, always talking about herself and the others, especially Mickey Rourke and RDJ are all like: WTF?

Hell, I don’t even find her pretty. Her mouth is scary. She looks like the Joker when she smiles. Forget Heath, she should’ve gotten that role.
Can someone please tell me how Amy Adams didn’t make the list? she’s adorable, perky and super talented. I’ve yet to see her in anything I didn’t love her in -and that includes the crapfast known as Cruel Intentions 2, early on in her career.
obvious, that’s because amy adams is OVER 30. needless to say, she is a way better actress than one or two on that list, like megan. the mind boggles. i hate to be crude, but the person who put the list together must’ve been wanking to a megan fox picture. it’s the only logical explanation as to how she made the list, and at number 13. amanda seyfried, america and other people should have made the list. at least carey mulligan was noticed.
i saw rachel getting married, too, and i was underwhelmed by all of it. anne hathaway as a junkie? um….no. all the black eyeliner in the world won’t make her a badass. why was the wedding party all in saris? neither the bride nor the groom were indian. and all the wandering musicians at the house 24/7? it was like a renaissance fair or something. snoozefest.
Megan Fox can act? Riiight.
isn’t lovefilm a rental site ? wouldn’t that mean that these #’s / ranking came from how many times their films were rented ?
Megan Fox and Abbie Cornish? uh yeah, this list is definitely null and void. Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams should be higher than they are.
She’s a good actress. Maybe, in time, she could develop into a great actress. Maybe.
I don’t understand the “she’s beautiful” thing, but she does have a natural look, which is totally refreshing considering her peers.
I’m not a huge fan-but I thought she did great in The Devil Wears Prada and Becoming Jane. She’s definitely talented and that makes her pretty to me…kind of like musicians that are not attractive getting all the chicks because they have talent.
Yawn times 10! Where’s her foundation too, she looks ug.
I like Anne H, but think she’s overhyped. So far she’s been really good in one movie, I think we need to see her in more critically acclaimed roles before they declare her the best young actress.
By contrast Keira Knightley has been great in her roles in the last four years and has gained a lot of critical acclaim. People who say she can’t act or compare her to Megan Fox don’t know what they’re talking about. You have to look away from the Pirates movies and see her other movies to see that she is a very good actress. Honestly, you don’t like her that’s fine, but to claim she can’t act, yeah I guess the Oscar, Golden Globe and Bafta nods don’t count nor do critics good opinion of her acting skill.
Megan Fox? The girl is a mediocre actress at best. Her popularity stems from her body.
Dakota Fanning, Saoirse Ronan, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Emilly Blunt Need to be higher on the List.
–>>Megan Fox and Anne Hathaway I agree need to be removed from the list entirely, I mean Damn.
Kristen stewart is extremely dull and boring and megan fox is pure eye candy…not an actress at all…. emma stone should be somewhere on this list I think
Wher is Amy Adams?? SHe should be 1st followed by Emily Blunt, Scarlett, Anne Hatheway,Zoe Saldanna etc etc
